Sky Pinnick is the next Warren Miller
This is an amazing journey into the world of extreme skiing. Warren Miller may get the most attention but it's clear that Sky Pinnick can produce a DVD of remarkable quality and clarity. The vociferous soundtrack will keep the digital generation entertained while Kinetic delivers action cinematography for the newest generation of extreme skiers. I was most impressed by level of athleticism from the relatively unknown skiers. Many of the tricks and stunts defy the laws of physics or certainly the laws of common sense. Although seeing someone ski off the side of a mountain was fun to watch!

Exceptional Visual Experience
Fast paced, exciting video of top skiers doing amazing things. The visual effects in Kinetic are exceptional, creating a visual experience not found in other videos in the same genre. The music selection is great as well.

Miracle Boy and Nyquist
Released in DVD by Redline Entertainment -- Red - (22 May, 2001)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Dave Mirra and Ryan Nyquist have been lords of the BMX scene even before they were old enough to drive a car. Now that they're highly decorated and seasoned extreme athletes (Mirra alone earned 19 medals at the X Games between 1995 and 2000), admirers could be forgiven for wanting to know more about their lives both at work and play. A loose, airy documentary that includes everything from old home videos to private banter to practice sessions on the bikes, Miracle Boy and Nyquist has picked up a couple of film festival awards for its very human portrait of Mirra and Nyquist. Not that there's a shortage of action. There are loads of tricks to gape at and dissect for technique, and for additional fun there's an outtake section featuring the guys in a few of their more mundane moments on the golf course and in a bike shop. --Tom Keogh

One of the best BMX videos
If you're a fan of BMX, you've heard of Mirra and Nyquist. And this video covers things you never knew about your favorite riders. It tracks them through competitions and moves. You get to see the riders when they're not riding and learn that they ARE real people. The video catches the riders on their downtime. If you're a fan of BMX and a fan of Mirra and Nyquist, you should check out the video because it gets awesome footage of the awesome tricks theses guys do and also, what they do when not riding.

Great Documentary
I don't want to divulge any of the specifics on the video. I thought that it was a great showing of what Dave Mirra and Ryan Nyquist go through in their competitions. Also where they lived and how they got interested in BMX Biking. Not only is a bunch of information, but it is really funny.

Shockingly Unbelievable!...
WOW!! I just got a chance to see this video and it was unreal. I had no idea that people could perform these types of tricks on a motorcycle. This thing is jam-packed full of action and has a great soundtrack which, together, really keeps the pace up and will keep you glued to the screen. Oh, and I can't forget to mention the crashes ... WOW! This video was filmed here in my hometown and it was so entertaining to recognize the landmarks on which they were performing. The DVD menus and features were fantastic and easy to navigate as well. I would definitely recommend it to anyone that wants to see unbelievable tricks and lots of action.

Bad [...]
This is the best extreme motorcycle video I have ever seen. There are so many stunts and crazy tricks, I cant believe they did not get arrested making this. Two thumbs up for this one, ...

Breath-taking
Just watched it... Let me tell you, it was awesome. A perfect mix of Big Mountain skiing, cliff jumping, MAJOR powder, awesome rails, and some HUGE new-school air. It is well worth the 30 bucks you pay for this DVD. It is a good hour (seems like only a few minutes) and also includes over an hour of extras(Making of Mind the Addiction). These guys really love what they do and are incredible at it.. I recommend it, and anything from TGR

awsome
i have never seen this movie and im only filling this out because i have nothing to do

Excellent Fun For Any Wakeboarder
If you are into wakeboarding on any level, buy this DVD! You'll love the zany antics of Shaft and the rider commentary in Shafted. Plus, you'll get to see Watson, Shapiro, Murray, Parks, and others at their very best. High points include Murray on the Skurfer and the bonus skateboarding and snowboarding sections. Shaft/Shafted will keep you going from beginning to end with a rocking soundtrack and the best wakeboarding action on the planet!

A Must Have
This is an excellant DVD. Both the sound track and the Wake boarding are incredible. I can't stop watching this one!

Sports Legends - Jackie & Joe (The Jackie Robinson Story, The History of Joe Louis)
Released in DVD by E-Realbiz.Com (01 May, 2001)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Director: Alfred E. Green
This DVD showcases two vintage film biographies of the greatest African American sports superstars of their day, Jackie Robinson and Joe Louis. The Jackie Robinson Story is unusual in that Robinson portrays himself, and the movie was produced in 1950, barely three years after he took up his position at second base for the Brooklyn Dodgers and broke the "color line" in professional baseball. After providing a fast portrayal of Robinson's early life, up to his collegiate sports career at UCLA and his stint in the U.S. Army, the story turns serious when Branch Rickey offers him a contract to play for a Brooklyn Dodgers farm team. Interestingly, some of the scenes, such as an incident when Robinson and his teammates were locked out of a stadium at a spring training game in Florida, may have more impact with viewers today than when the film was first released.

The 1953 biographical film about boxing legend Joe Louis features actor Coley Wallace in the title role, and is somewhat remarkable because the portrait of Louis is not entirely complimentary. Though a great fighter and a hero to black Americans, Louis had lifelong problems handling his money, and that aspect of his life is part of the screenplay. These films provide credible, if somewhat simplistic, portrayals of Robinson and Louis, but they are perhaps most remarkable for delivering a strong message about racial equality a full decade before the Civil Rights Movement would galvanize America. --Robert J. McNamara

A Great Movie Against Bigotry and Hatred!! Robinson Rules!!
Jackie Robinson was the first African American to play major league baseball back in 1947.He does a superb articulate acting job playing himself and the adversity and struggles that he triumphed over. It's a must see moving film against bigotry and hatred!!

Great Story, Great Movie
This movie featuring Jackie Robinson playing himself in a great role. One of my favorite films. No baseball fan should be without this movie.

Todd Richards' Trick Tips, Vol. 1: Snowboarding - Park and Pipe Basics
Released in DVD by Red Distribution, In (24 September, 2002)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Starring: T Richards and Anderson
Average review score:

Informative and Entertaining First Volume
I have had a chance to view this DVD twice since purchasing it last week and I'm very pleased. Unlike most - if not all - other instructional snowboarding videos on the market, Todd Richards' Trick Tips Vol. 1 does not start the viewer with how to get into your bindings, fall over properly, and make your first frontside turn. Richards and Co. thankfully skip over such basic knowledge (which most any rider would outgrow after two or three visits to the slopes anyways) and after a very brief segment on safety, jump right into park and halfpipe basics. Todd and righthand man, Billy Anderson, tackle straight airs, 50/50 rails, as well as method, mute, tail, indie, and stalefish grabs, as well as other park essentials. As for the halfpipe, Todd and Billy introduce such basics as dropping in, speed control, transitions, kick-turns, ollies, and then progress to 5 different backside grabs and 5 different frontside grabs.

I really enjoyed this video. One of the first things that caught and kept my attention was the candid, off-the-cuff humor between Todd and Billy. Laughs make learning easier, and this DVD is no exception. The quality of the DVD was respectable as well. I own a few instructional martial arts videos which look as if they were produced by the practitioners themselves with no additional or professional help. Although you won't find any Spielbergian special effects or emotional John Williams soundtrack here, the little graphics and music that were used were modern and complemented rather than distract from the presentation of the film.

My review isn't complete without testing the taught techniques of this DVD, but being in Seattle in mid-June leaves me little to no opportunity save a lengthy trip to Mt. Hood, which probably won't happen. The good news is this video has provided me with the know-how, inspiration, and confidence to try out these techniques as soon as I hit the hill.

This great DVD spurred me to inquire about Volume 2, and I e-mailed producer Morgan Stone of 900 Films. Coincidentally, they were just wrapping up voice-overs for Volume 2 as I e-mailed last week. It's essentially finished but won't be available until Thanksgiving of 2003. Morgan wrote some of the things Volume 2 would cover, such as frontside, backside, and switch 180's, 360's, and 540's. I wouldn't be surprised to see frontside and backside railslides either. Maybe they'll save the inverted stuff for a future Volume 3? If so, I should best buy a helmet, and start nailing the basics in Volume 1!

Think you're ready to catch some air, but a little scared?
Who isn't? This DVD was excellent for settling those butterflies and giving me an idea of what to expect. It'll put you one step ahead on the learning curve. This was my first season hitting the park and pipe. The video was great, first to give me a little confidence and create a shred-thought (kinda like a swing thought for you golfers), and then as a review to make it automatic. It's a real instructional video, not a "watch someone jump off a cliff and dream that I can do that" video. Its only drawback--I want more! When's Vol. 2 coming out?

Note, keep in mind that this is for beginner tricks--jumps, rails and grabs in the park and pipe. No spins, no flips, nothing excessively extreme, so don't expect too much. After watching it, you may think you can master most of this in a couple of days--not (I'm glad I withheld my review until after the season).

On the flip side, if you aren't confident with your edges (say, at least comfortable (not, "well I think I can make it") on black diamonds or difficult blues), the vid won't help you, and learning that well first on the slopes will make your (and everybody else's) park experience much nicer--remember shred-iquette. Until then, the vid is great for inspiration.

To Amazon: the video title isn't "Snowboarding Basics," it's "Snowboarding Park and Pipe Basics." That's kinda like the difference between "Jumping Basics" and "Base Jumping Basics."

Awesome movie
This is the best snowboard DVD I have ever seen.

There are a lot of great riders like Travis Rice (who just won the X-games slope style), Gigi Ruf, J.P. Solberg or Jussi Oksanen (who does a couple 1080s that means three rotations).

Most of the tricks shown are in back country, not in actual competition, which I find good. The thing is though, that these guys are some of the best snowboarders in the world, because they can also win the competitions. Many of them are also test riders for Burton.

Also the filming is beautiful. With that I mean that it is kind of surreal from time to time, meaning that there is a lot of slow motion or extraordinary camera angles.

The tricks themselves are simply insane.

With just over 30 minutes the film is kind of short, but there is also additional stuff with amounts to around 30 minutes and you never get bored how matter how often you watch it!

It's simply a great DVD.

I just love this movie.
Of all the snowboarding videos, this is the one I most like to watch over and over. The editing is as fabulous as the riding. The bunny sequence alone is worth the price of the whole movie.

Best of the Best
What a pleasure it is to see a series of instructional tapes that covers the water front...so thoroughly.

I personally know Danny Hodge who helped with these tapes. His skill, his knowledge and his love for both the sport and young wreslters comes through again and again.

If you want to learn technique for the standing position...these are the instructional tapes.

If you want to learn technique for the down position...these are the instructional tapes.

If you want to learn techniques for riding...these are the instructional tapes.

If you want to learn mat wrestling...these are the tinstructional apes.

I wish our wrestlers at Oklahoma University came to us with the thorough understanding of the techniques taught my these tapes. Great job!!!

Olympic coach Joe Seay was right. These are the best.

Best single wrestling CD for the novice to advanced wrestler
Being a wrestler since 1967 and coach since 1995 this tape gives to the novice wrestler and parent the best understanding of wrestling that I have found. The tapes succintly provides the basic wrestling rules for the wrestling parent so that they can have a grasp of the rules and immediately enjoy the sport. The tapes go on to develop winning wrestling strategies that are universal to all winning students of the sport. I highly recommend these tapes to all wrestling programs who want to start a winning path from the beginning.
