Events Movie Reviews

RD makes good documentaries

OKI was a little disappointed, especially since they showed a little too much on the actual day and not enough on the video.
Good enough for the buy, but not enough compared to other videos out there.
GREAT DOCUMENTARY!
A time for reflection......Among the several documentaries that I have seen on the events of September 11th, I'd have to say that CNN has produced the most worthwhile program to date. Both comprehensive and poignant in its content, the timeline of the attack and events of subsequent months are well detailed and accurate.
Beginning with the attack on and the collapse of the World Trade Center Towers, CNN correspondents report right from the streets of New York amidst the chaos of the attack capturing powerful eyewitness accounts and remarkable footage of the heroic acts of many involved. Moving on from there, the crash occurring at the Pentagon and the downed airliner in Pennsylvania are then analyzed.
In the aftermath of the attacks themselves, CNN examines further events that had pivotal roles resulting from terrorism in America. Operation Enduring Freedom, formation of the Office of Homeland Security, and the Anthrax attacks being the most noteworthy of all.
In memorializing the worst terrorist attack to ever happen on American soil, CNN has done a very credible and worthwhile job in bringing it to the public. Quite moving and even inspirational at times, this is a lasting testament that helps signify the strength and resilience of the Unites States in one of its darkest hours.

A simple and quick overview of last 10 decadesI was more impressed by the freedom section. It was amazing to see people feel what I have never felt, being born in a free country. The organization of events and cinematography along with the background music made the picture a bit dramatic but succeeded to capture viewer's full attention. In the end, I was able to praise all those revolutions brought by the repressed and occupied and at the same time, I was inspired to realize and appreciate the value of freedom as I never did before.
Definitely worth watching.

Inspiring

Good, affordable documentariesThe DVD's themselves are nothing special. Full frame, no special features to speak of. However, the fact that there are 2 episodes per disc ... makes this a decent set if you're a History-channel type. The only thing I wish the set had was what happened in the last 3 years of the century (as we all know, there were a few very signficant events just in those last 3 years), but alas, guess we'll have to wait for the "Ultimate Edition."

Horrendous picture quality
To the guy from Knoxville TN
Reporting of the EventsHowever, I really liked the events as they unfolded. I had written a customer review of "CNN Millennium 2000" for both netflix.com and dvdempire.com and e-mailed copies of it to CNN's Paul Vercammen, SHOWBIZ correspondent, in the Los Angeles Bureau of CNN. I told him that it's a historic memento, not just for now, but for many years to come, because it's the only time in our lives will we ever see a new year like this-a new year dawn, a new century, and a new millennium. I also told him that I liked the report he gave from Las Vegas, Nevada, and liked Bernard Shaw and Judy Woodruff manning the newsdesk at the CNN Center in Atlanta. I also told him that I really liked watching the celebrations in the Pacific (Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Victoria, and Vancouver, the latter 2 are in British Columbia, the westernmost province in Canada, our neighbor to the north) because it really "heated it up," since all of the United States and all of Canada, its neighbor to the north, entered the new century. He sent me a reply thanking him for the kind words and support. He also told that he liked his assignment. I then e-mailed a copy of his reply to Scott Leon, his boss, in the New York Bureau of CNN.
Because the box does not tell the cast and crew. I would also like to give the director. They were Richard Kaplan, CNN/US President, and Suzanne Spurgeon, CNN Vice-President and Los Angeles Bureau Chief.

Avoid this one like the plague!
