SAVE YOUR MONEY
IF YOU THINK THAT YOU ARE GOING TO GET SOMETHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY WITH THIS DISK YOU ARE SADLY MISTAKEN, THERE ARE A FEW NICE DUNKS, HARDLY ANY HANDLE THAT IS WORTH SEEING, AND ON TOP OF ALL THAT ALL THE DISK SEEMS TO DO IS TO GET IN TO THE HEADS OF THE ALLSTARS IF THAT IS WHAT THEY ARE, THE HIGHLIGHTS ARE SHORT AND NOT UP TO MUCH, ALLSTAR DISK , DONT EXPECT ALLSTAR ENTERTAINMENT, PUT THE POPCORN AWAY AND GET YOUR PILLOW OUT, THIS ONE WILL PUT YOU TO SLEEP, MY ADVICE BUY BALL ABOVE ALL ATLEAST THAT HAS SOME ACTION IN IT FAILING THAT THE MJ ULTIMATE IS THE BASKETBALLERS BEST FRIEND.
DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE WRITE UP ON THE BACK OF THE COVER, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, ITS A CRIME TO BE THIS MUCH MISLEAD AND ROBBED AT THE PRICE, A GUTTED CUSTOMER

When is Volume 3 coming?
I purchased the first volume of Slam From The Street and enjoyed it so much that I had to get the second volume. I am a huge college and pro fan and as a result of this DVD line I can say I am now a true street basketball fan. These street ballers do things that the pro's never think about. If you want to see outrageous action (dunks, steals, assists), you need to see this.

Don't sleep on this DVD. When can we expect more?

P.S. I bought some of the other street basketball DVD's, but this was the best I have seen. I think the directors of Jordan to the Max did this one.

Is it documentaly video ?
I think there are many talking time. This title is "Swimsuit". Real running time for swimsuit are about 20 minutes. uuuuu.

Incredibly sexy!
The opening segment with Eva Herzigova is the sexiest footage I've ever seen! It's not nudity, but that makes it even more sensual. The shoot with Laetitia Casta and Rebecca Romijn-Stamos is also steamy. It's fun to hear the sultry Casta talking with her thick French accent and giggling like a teenager. Unlike another reviewer on Amazon.com, I think the interviews make this DVD more interesting, and I like to hear the photographers talk about how they approch the photo assignments. What a job!

Could be better
the vid had some decent parts, but overall was boring....seemed like some sort of lifestyle documentary on these guys. Next time i say show more action and crazy off the chain daredevil stuff, and leave the documentary film school stuff to those specials on A&E.

One of the best yet
This film is the best film every produced for the stunt riding community. it shows alot of up to date stunts from the 2002 season, with a promising sequel to follow, "Black Sheep Squadron"

Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Collection 1995-1999
When i first heard about it, I was excited and could not wait to get my hands on it. however, it did not live up to my expectations. It's more like a documentary about a model's life and all other HOO HAH!!
if you are a guy and thinking about getting it, forget it.
if you are a girl and always wanted to be a model, I guess it would be of some use.
Trust me, don't learn the hard way.......

Scantily clad supermodels! Need I say anymore.
Everyone's familiar with Sports Illustrated's annual swimsuit edition, and the corresponding videos. Now here's your chance to own five years worth on 2 DVDs. Although ,the DVD doesn't contain any "previously unreleased material", it is still a must for all fans, even those who already own the videos. The increased picture quality and crystal clear slo-mo that comes with DVD really add to the experience allowing you to see all those things you thought you saw, if you know what I mean. Best of all there's no macrovision so you can make your own "customized" VHS copy.Featured models include:Eva Herzigova, Tyra Banks, Laetitia Casta, Heidi Klum, Naomi Campbell, Nikki Taylor, Rebecca Romijn, and others. All in all this is an excellent value, but the could've and should've added some bonus footage.

Nice
My reasons for liking this is much different than your typical viewer. I first saw the 1995 special when it was broadcast on TV. My main reason for watching it was to see if the models were as stuck up as they were reputed to be. Actually I found the opposite to be just the case. I was rolling on the floor with laughter at the self-depricating remarks and their genuine good attitude towards life. When I had the opportunity to watch it some years later on video I found that my original opinion held. I was really pleased to see that many of them continued to have prosperous careers. Including Rebecca Romijn-Stamos who deservedly was made the cover model for 1999.

As far as aethetics go, I can not deny that this is a very well produced and slick video. Very aethetically pleasing on all aspects.

The thing that struck me the most about watching the video and looking at the calenders was not so much the aesthetics of the young women. It wasn't just the fact that they were attractive, but despite the fact that they were posing in bathing suits, there was a dignity to them that is seldom seen today and that is what impressed me the most

Greatest Moments in Super Bowl History
Released in DVD by United Services (10 October, 2000)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Starring: NFL
For this new edition of great Super Bowl highlights, NFL Films jumps around a bit, staying away from viewing 34 Super Bowls in chronological order. The video is split up into 12 chapters focusing on different aspects, starting with "Masters of the Game," which focuses on the three players who won multiple MVP awards (quarterbacks Terry Bradshaw, Joe Montana, Bart Starr). Other segments look at special-team play, defenses, receivers, and the like. "The Quarterbacks" includes a segment on the MVP of Super Bowl 34, St. Louis Ram Kurt Warner. The material really comes alive in the DVD version of the title, but any fan of the game will be charged up by NFL Films' gusto mix of music, action, and insightful interviews (from players, coaches, and such experts as Frank Deford, many of them new). --Doug Thomas

Disappointing
I am quite possibly the biggest football fan on Earth (though I'm sure most of you will argue that point). My library of NFL films spans darn near all of them. I received this DVD as a present, watched it once and have never even had the urge to pick it up again. It's not very exciting, it's not compelling and it's basically little more than a droning documentary. It gets two stars just because it's football.

Too short
Its a good DVD, but way too short considering the amount of space that can fit on a DVD. Should have had more material

Disappointing considering how much space the DVD gave them.
My review in on par with most of the ones written below. If you're an avid NFL fan like me, DVDs like this will attract your eye, but wait for the documentary on HBO or another channel.

The documentary has a few extras included such as extended interviews, different audio segments of the same play, etc.. but there was so MUCH MORE that NFL Films could have included on a DVD capable of holding this much memory. I viewed the extras that are watchable with a computer DVD player... Nothing impressive, a collection of stats that you could get on any internet site...

Not worth it until the price drops... If you're an NFL fan, you'll enjoy what you watch, but it's over quick!

Leslie Nielsen's Stupid Little Golf Video
Released in DVD by Winstar Home Entertainment (08 May, 2001)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Director: Peter Hayman
Starring: Leslie Nielsen
Veteran actor Leslie Nielsen perfected his devastatingly deadpan comic delivery in the supremely goofy Naked Gun films. Teaming up with humorist Henry Beard, he also collaborated on a parody of Harvey Penick's Little Red Book entitled Leslie Nielsen's Stupid Little Golf Book. And so while it would seem that Beard's writing and Nielsen's straight-faced delivery would combine beautifully on film, their Stupid Little Golf Video veers perilously close to having a title that is all too accurate. There are some promising sight gags and some potentially great slapstick moments, but the pace of the video is slow and the individual gags don't build on each other to achieve any sustained payoff. Nielsen engages in a series of bizarre parodies of golf instructions, from whacking (and splattering) a baked potato off his tee to showing how he can psyche out his opponent by turning his golf cart so sharply that his passenger flies out and rolls down a hill. Some of Nielsen's instructional monologues are quirkily funny, such as his mention of how he keeps his head still during his swing: "I imagine I have shampooed my head with a product containing nitroglycerin." But for every bright moment, there are lengthy interludes where nothing much happens, and Nielsen's priceless mock seriousness is ultimately wasted. --Robert J. McNamara

For those entertained by peeling paint.
I could probably make you laugh harder by filming myself urinating on Leslie Nielson.

Can you say, Stupid?
This movie was really funny, although it may have been poorly written, it was still funny and helpfull. This video teaches you the basics of golf, and how to throw your partner out of the cart and how to totally irritate him. This dvd can help with your golf playing. I think that you will like this dvd very much, unless you are dumb and have no scents of humor.

I think Leslie shood stick to naked gun movies and ones like that. There is also a pretty good one, other than this one with leslie on golf.

Stupid Little Golf vs. Spaceship (1981)
Many people forget that Mr. Neilsen started off with serious roles in the 60s and 70s then went for a change and starred in Spaceship, a hard-to-find, campy classic filmed right after Airplane.

Also knows as Naked Space and The Creature Wasn't Nice, this video is probably only found in dark alley video stores, where THIS golf video should be...

Too bad Spaceship (aka, aka) can't be more readily available,
like on Amazon.com

MTV Uncensored - Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue 2001
Released in DVD by Sony Wonder (22 May, 2001)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Starring: Else Benitez
The 2001 edition of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit video was produced to be shown on MTV, but except for brief appearances by an MTV staff person, who provides narration, the format is entirely familiar. Beautiful women travel to exotic locations, eccentric and demanding photographers take a gazillion photographs of them, and the editors of the magazine engage in a painstaking process to figure out which photos measure up to the standards of the fabled swimsuit issue. This edition of the annual video contains a brief look back at the magazine's tradition of showcasing swimsuit models as well as a segment showing some problems faced in past years (such as a capsizing boat that scuttled a photographer and thousands of dollars worth of equipment). But for the most part the camera lingers over the bodies of more than a dozen models, including Josie Maran, Heidi Klum, Daniela Pestova, Michelle Behennah, and Molly Sims. Clad in the tiniest and tightest swimsuits imaginable, the women are seen posing--and occasionally talking about how much work posing is--in locations ranging from Las Vegas to Malaysia to Greece to Tunisia. The video is, as one might expect, very professionally produced, and while it contains no real surprises, it's a suitable tribute to the annual magazine issue that has become an American institution. --Robert J. McNamara

Marketing Hype!
I really was looking forward watching this edition of Sports Illustrated, because I have all the previous editions, and because I am a big Josie Maran fan(I think she is one of the sexiest and most beautiful women ever).
But how disappointed I was for two main reasons,
Firstly, the 'uncensored' tag is totally misleading. One would be excused for dispensing quickly of few $$$ without a thought just for this word alone, but this is all a marketing hype!I wonder what would the censored version be like??? Shooting fully clothed in the Artic??
Secondly, if you expect to be watching good photography, and lingering shots of these gorgeous women in bikinis, you will be sorely disappointed. This whole edition looks like behind the scene documentary for the magazine shoot, and what shots of models we have are annoyingly edited and are few seconds long at most. The last thing on my mind when I bought this DVD, was to hear photgraphers, producers and models talk and talk...
So careful not to believe the uncensored claim, and if you have the previous editions, then it is ok to buy this one too to complete the collection, but it will certainly be the weakest one by far.

Aesthetically pleasing.........yes!
DVD Content.. Some of the world's most beautiful models are photographed and filmed. It's all good! I've been a fan of the SI Swimsuit edition for many years. So I can't complain about the content of the DVD [5 stars there]. The locations around the world are fascinating and enlightening, I was making mental notes along the way to travel to these places. Being an amateur photographer myself, I found it quite un-orthodox that one of the professional photographers would use an AF 35mm Compact camera for photos used in the magazine. Interesting.....

DVD Quality.. Unfortunately the quality could have been better. For the die-hard DVD enthusiast, who expect the highest quality, the picture and audio quality are not quite up to par. During the main scenes are too bad, the cut and fade sequences you can see quite noticeable compression artefacts. It's quite annoying. Similar to a good quality MPEG from the internet. Sound is also a bit sketchy, it has been mastered too loudly and quite often you get that shrill "SSSS" noise when dialogue starting with "S" is spoken. It's a similar effect to a program on TV that isn't quite tuned properly. Also, very annoying. It could just be that the US have a different [read: higher] level of volume to Australian standards, I don't know....

However, I'm still going to buy the other DVD's in the series. Having taped the original 1994 program on my fathers old Mono BETAMAX VCR when I was 14, I'd like to get them in much better quality. Hopefully the quality of the other DVD's will be a bit better....there's only one way to find out. It's just a pity that the 1994 show isn't on DVD....

Great DVD, if you're a photographer
...I think it's the best in the Sports Illustrated series, and I have all of them. But I'm a photographer, and the reason I think it's good is because there's lots of footage here of the photographers working with the models. There's a segment on Terry Richardson and how he often uses point and shoot cameras, which I found very interesting. The beautiful women are still there, and I get to watch some of the best photographers in the world work. I think it's great. The most irritating part of this DVD for me was the quick MTV cuts and the parts where they made the image roll as if the vertical hold had gone haywire on the TV set. That was just annoying.

NFL Matchup of the Millennium
Released in DVD by United Services (30 October, 2001)
MPAA Rating: Unrated
At long last, all the barroom discussions about which NFL team was the greatest ever finally get settled. Well, sort of. This three-tape video collection fabricates a tournament in which four teams who dominated their era can compete, thanks to a Zelig-meets-the-NFL approach achieved by forays into the vaults of NFL Films and some snazzy and sneaky editing. The Green Bay Packers of the 1960s, coached by Vince Lombardi and quarterbacked by Bart Starr, meet Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, and the San Francisco 49ers of the 1980s. In the other preliminary game, the Pittsburgh Steelers of the 1970s, the bruisers characterized by Terry Bradshaw, Franco Harris, and the fearsome "Steel Curtain" defense, take on the flashy Dallas Cowboys of the 1990s, a team characterized by Troy Aikman and Deion Sanders. The final blowout between the victors is presented with a wacky sense of humor that perfectly parodies Super Bowl hype, and the outcome is eventually decided by a final play that is literally the stuff of legends. Throughout the videos there are patches of comic relief, much of it provided by an announcing team that includes ESPN's Joe Theismann and Mike Patrick and also features off-the-wall utterances of the late Howard Cosell. These fantasy games won't settle any serious arguments, but they're fun to watch and are a definite treat for those who relish NFL trivia. --Robert J. McNamara

It's Fiction
Ok, so you want to see a computerized matchup of Rocky Marciano fight Muhammed Ali, or How about Babe Ruth hit on John Smoltz, well that is pretty much what you get here only with the NFL. A fictitous story that can not replace what makes all sports worth there true value, the human spirit. I guess if your a real fan, and you want to go on an imaginary trip on what ifs, I think a better solution is to throw on a Monatana Jersey, and place a few Packer Jersey's on your kids, and see if they can stop you. jk.

disappointing
I'm in my twenties, so I've only seen highlights of the 60s Packers and 70s Steelers, and I got this box set partially in hopes of learning more about them. If you have any similar interest, look elsewhere.

The editing and video reconstruction is impressive for the most part, but on many plays, there are annoying cuts in the action, so you see the quarterback release a pass, then a cut to the receiver catching it, without actually watching how the ball got there.

There's also virtually no opportunity to see the offensive line or the defense in action. You see the most important moments in the simulated plays, but you can't learn anything about HOW an individual played or what made him so great. For instance, I still couldn't tell you a thing about Jack Ham's style of play, and I didn't learn anything at all about Bart Starr. You could watch all three games and not even know Forrest Gregg or Larry Allen were in there. These are just four of many examples.

The simulated games are also horribly predictable and the drama is badly overdone: the announcers tell you someone hasn't made a catch yet, and the next play he does; squeezed into three little games are an overtime, a game-deciding replay challenge, a disputed coin toss, and about 50 4th-quarter drives that would put John Elway to shame. Last-minute rallies are fun when they're spontaneous, not when you know they're coming and that they're there for false drama.

There's very little actual football, but there's a lot of production. There are some nice interviews with players, good cuts of some old footage, and a LOT of cuts to the booth with Mike Patrick, Joe Theismann, Steve Sabol, and a simulated Howard Cosell.

The best part of this box set, if you can stand his abrasiveness, is Cossell. I'd only read about him, but I felt like I got a real flavor for why he inspired such intense feeling (positive and negative) from viewers. Even the Cosell hook is a little disappointing, though, as some quotes are reused up to three times, and a few themes are a little overdone. The producers thought some jokes were so funny, they used them in each of the three videos.

If you want to watch football, buy a Super Bowl or highlight video instead. If you want to learn about the past, read a book (Total Football II is a great resource). If you want to settle the debate about greatest team ever, this is helpful but hardly indisputable. And if you really like Theismann and Patrick and "Forrest Gump"-style editing, this might be right for you. But for a die-hard football fan, this is certain to be a disappointment. I do not recommend it.

Entertaining but misleading
Productions like this one, and "The Dream Season" are fun but what are they based on? "Computerized matchups"? Subjective bias? COME ON GUYS. YOU CANNOT COMPARE TEAMS AND INDIVIDUALS FROM DIFFERENT ERAS. The game has changed. The rules have changed. The training regimens have changed. RESPECT THE GREATS BY JUDGING THEM ACCORDING TO THE TIMES IN WHICH THEY PLAYED.

It is all speculation. In the end, it's hype. Why are the 49ers (who benefitted from weak competition and favorable matchups, and ridiculously weak AFC Super Bowl opponents throughout their glory years, and who lost to good teams like the Bears, Giants) in the top 5 teams at all?

Battlecade: Extreme Fighting 2
Released in DVD by Image Entertainment (27 July, 1999)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Director: Tommy Sowards
Average review score:

Don't waste your money
This DVD was a real disapointment, the fighting (if you want to call it that) was lousy. I really thought they should have started some of the matches over, there were too many quick tap-outs. Not much action at all.

Great Story...bad card/fights!
The fight to get Battlecade: Extreme Fighting part 2 in a location where officials wouldn't stop the show was the most compelling story of this DVD. Great behind-the-scenes footage of what went on before this early MMA event actually aired. A lot of drama, but not in the ring. While John Peretti is known for his good matchmaking, the results didn't help his reputation.

As for the card, the first fight between Jason Canals and Nigel Scantelbury kicked things of positively. Both fighters gave it their all. Things went south from there. Every favorite won and won with ease. I think every fight went under 1 minute. The Brazilians who impressed in Extreme Fighting 1, had it too easy this go around.

An interesting fight was the Jean Riviere versus Carlos Newton encounter. Riviere was originally supposed to fight Orlando Weit, but Weit pulled out leaving Newton as the substitute. Carlos Newton at the time was making his pro debut, and weighed lighter than what the "tale of the tape" read. Early on you can see Newton's incredible athletic style as he tried to take out Rivere, who weighed 115 pounds heavier. Fighting with a Gi, maybe had something to do with the conclusion. An interesting fight.

Reading about this event and how all the fighters were arrested after the event was a great story. Seeing the footage of how organizers of the event huddled to make this happen was interesting. I did though buy this for the fights, and they really let me down.

Same as Extreme Fighting 2
Buy it cheaper here at Amazon. Search for Extreme Fighting 2 instead of Battlecade:Extreme Fighting 2. Its the Same DVD!!!
