Siestas & Olas - A Surfing Journey Through Mexico

Good Mexico Surf Trip movie
This is an enjoyable Surf movie about a few guys driving down to Puerto Escondido and surfing all along the way. Mostly LongBoard Surfing.

Tom Wegener Rips
I had the joy of teaching Tom Wegener (star of the surf movie) back in the 1980s............ He is a wonderful surfer and one of the nicest people I have ever met.

I have never met anyone more stoked with surfing.

The movie is excellent and captures huge hurricane surf.

This film is much better than most of the surf flicks being produced now.

Really fun and a must for all surfers
This movie is a road trip through mexico with Tom Wegener, Josh Farberow, Marc Kavanagh, and Joel Tudor. These guys go from the Baja Peninsula to semi famous Puerto Escondido. Spending most of their time driving in their old Chevy Suburban, camping and surfing. Some of their adventures include a boat ride through the jungle, making hand pressed tortillas, and cooking lobsters on a wood burning adobe stove. I think that it is a fun movie and a great time for the whole family.

1998 WORLD SERIES VIDEO - NEW YORK YANKEES VS SAN DIEGO PADRES
Released in DVD by (01 December, 1998)
MPAA Rating:
In years to come 1998 will be remembered as one of the finest in the history of baseball. Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa slugged their way into the record books, and David Wells pitched a perfect game. Roger "The Rocket" Clemens reached the giddy heights of the 3,000 plateau. Cal took a day off. And then there were the Yankees. Fittingly, it was the Bronx Bombers who penciled in the final emphatic exclamation point of the season, by sweeping the San Diego Padres in four games. A season that saw them brush aside all opposition while on their way to 125 wins would have been incomplete without this victory. The official Major League Baseball video recaps the regular season of the Padres and Yanks, before following them through the playoffs, and then on to the World Series. The inspired San Diego team, led admirably by the ageless yet priceless Tony Gwynn, Kevin Brown, and Wally Joyner, encountered a Yankee team too experienced and too deep, from wily veterans like David Cone and Paul O'Neil to brilliant youngsters like Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera. The 1998 Yankees were a team on a mission from start to finish, a feeling epitomized in the messiah-like stature of Joe Torre, who himself said that getting to the final hurdle simply wasn't good enough were they to come away empty-handed. In a fitting testament to professionalism and team unity, the Yankees established themselves in 1998 as perhaps the greatest team in any sport, ever. Exclusive interviews, behind-the-scenes footage (never seen before on TV), and "wired for sound" players from every game make this video a must for any baseball fan. --Jeremy Storey

Preserve your memories of the 1998 New York Yankees
The reason for getting a video about any World Series is to be able to relive the moments you experienced watching the games live. For me the pivotal moment in the 1998 World Series was in the 8th inning of game three when Paul O'Neill walked with San Diego holding a 3-2 lead. AC/DC's "Hell's Bells" blared from the loudspeakers and Padre ace reliever Trevor Hoffman made his way in from the bullpen to a thunderous ovation from the Qual-comm crowd. I remembering thinking was a great moment there was--and there is Paul O'Neill on the video saying the same thing. That is good enough for me. It would be nice if it were longer, it would be nice if it had more, but that is always going to be true. The key thing as Yankee Fan Paul Simon would say, is to "preserve your memories." This tape certainly does that for me.

special team&year
the 98 Yanks were truly special.they were unstoppable all the way through the World Series.all the Guys Came together&Joe Torre keeps all things going.this is one of the Greatest Teams ever&it's a cool overview to a Great Season.

love those yankees
who are the diamond backs ,no body will know in a moth or so,this is a great video of those ammazing yanks and derek jeter he should be manor of new york what a player

Transworld Snowboarding - TB9 (Totally Board Nine)
Released in DVD by Redline Entertainment -- Red - (22 May, 2001)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Starring: Jeremy Jones, Andrew Crawford, and Jussi Oksanen

Snowboarding
This was a great snowboarding video. They did alot of crazy moves. Most of it takes place at major ski resorts. The out takes were funny, seeing all the professional boarders fall down the mountain. The backround rock music set the snowboarding mood. There are some moves that you probably won't see in other snowboarding videos. There are 18 different borders doing different stunts. This is worth buying. You could watch it over and over.

Kewl vid, neat trix, worth the time
I always like Transworld Videos. I've got em since Totally Board I! this vid was sweet, and the riders were new skewl and it still kept me glued to the Screen. It's worth yer time, but consider finding vhs instead. this was the first dvd i got of the series. It was all worth it. enjoy yer couch shredding 8-/-<|

I orderd this just to get Super Saver Shipping
As just a chance I purchased this DVD so I could get the Super Saver Shipping. To tell the truth Im not really a Transworld fan. But the Footage that is on this DVD is great some of the terraine is so beautiful and some crazy rides. The styles involved are very expert like. From my experience as a Snowboarde Instrutor for 5 years. All the riders form's are graet and the style involved by each one are unique to there own way.

Vivid (Snowboarding)

Right idea, bad execution.
As an avid connoisseur of snowboarding videos, I was looking forward to Vivid. Why? This video was dubbed as all backcountry with none of the mundane park/rail stuff - which I think is an inexpensive way of filling up snowboard DVD's between the more expensive/helicopter big mountain footage. There was mostly backcountry (98% at least) on the film; that is, if you define backcountry as snowboarding simply without rails. I was expecting mostly big mountain free riding, which it had, but 85% of the video was just boarders hitting jumps vs. freeriding big and insane mountains.

Also, Vivid advertises Jeremy Jones - perhaps the best big mountain rider on the planet - in this DVD; however, he only makes two runs in the film totaling, at best, two minutes of footage!?! He had one of the smallest sections of the film!

The film had so much more potential. For example, the best/most unique footage of the film is when a boarder is taking a slow motion ride toward hitting a jump with a helicopter flying over head with other cameras directly behind him....then right before he hits the jump, it cuts to some weirdo wearing no shirt, looking up in a dark room with money falling on him???!! Hello, we're here to watch snowboarding, not some artsy fartsy interpretation of snowboarding folks!! Sometimes, the shots seemed forced or off centered as well. Vivid had the right idea (e.g. cutting out park/rail garbage), but fell short of the mark by messing up its cinematograpahy, making jumps feel repetitive, and not including enough and/or detailed footage of big mountain free riding.

By comparison, although TB9 and Optigrab have rail garbage, their big mountain footage is so awesome, intense, and well choreographed to music that it outweighs the downside of their share of the typical snowboard film rail garbage. TB9 & Optigrab's soundtracks (e.g. Fugazi, Weezer, Pixies..etc.) are milestones above Vivid's soundtrack (mostly sorry underground rap). Bottom line: stick to 16mm films made by Mike Hatchet and Redline.

ignore everyone from florida
What the hell is someone from florida doing writing about a snowboard movie. Vivid, transendance, and tribal are some of the best new original snowboarding movies to be released in the last few years. As someone who has logged over 70 days a season since high school(Rockies, Utah, Whistler, Quebec) I respect the effort to break from the current hip -hop, punk rock, format that has dominanted snowboarding movies for the last few years. I am not the type of person who ususally writes a review but seeing as I'm liviving in korea recovering from a case of acl/mcl damage I find it hard to read a review that has some one from florida at number 1, when I try to order a video. I find it hard to beleive that someone who lives in the sunshine state is given a voice in a review of a snowboard video that truley represents more aspects of ridding in one minute than most do in thirty. I find myself compelled to write. Regardless anyone who buys this video will see what truley can be done when you commit yourself to pushing your limits. Buy this and any film that gets you stoked, this video represents the buzz that those who truly do paticipate in the sport. Well thats it, but for anyone like me who has to watch the sport they love, this is one of the videos you will find some confort in. If your knees won't what you love anymore rent or buy "the endless summer two" and you see that there is life after snowboarding.

Amazon please don't let anyone from floida talk about snowboarding again

Right idea, bad execution2
The dude who wrote the review "Right idea, bad execution" obviously has no idea about snowboarding purely from his comments about Roman deMarchi section and money falling on him. . .Apart from the fact he didn't know who the dude was, and the fact this is by far the best section of the movie. think about it dude. . .money rules! money talks! I suppose you missed the slightly weird bit at the end of this section which is homage to "Apocalypse Now". . .humm figured.

Anyway, Vivid rocks, breaks new ground with stunning use of 16mm, and although focuses a little too much on just big backcountry kickers, and yes, you're right in that this does get a bit boring after a while. . .

Its a snowboarding flick. . . live with it, and try getting off you're bum and riding instead.

Go big, or die.

Enough Already

And 1 Ball Access - The Mix Tape Tour (Street Basketball)
Released in DVD by Ventura Distribution (05 November, 2002)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Average review score:

Not worth the money and time!
OK, some of the moves are amazing, credit has got to be given to the players/showmen, but the DVD as a whole is definitely not worth the $18 and the time you'll spend watching it. For most of the footage is of the fans going crazy over the wild moves on the court, and off it, and the players fooling around in their tour bus! Some might enjoy it, but it certainly shouldn't be considered a Street basketball DVD, for true basketball only covers a small part of it! The whole DVD can actually be summed up in less than 10 minute, if all the BS was cut out.

The best streetball dvd out there
This was a great dvd - it wasnt the full ESPN behind the scenes 8 episode series of the And1 mixtape tour, but it covered most of it. It showed much longer segments, and it showed everything sequentially which i really liked compared to the mixtape 5 which jumped almost too quickly from move to move from one city to another. Overall I'd say this is the best basketball dvd or vhs i have - but i havent seen the 2003 ball access tour 2 disc dvd.

SOOOO Sweet!
I'm a librarian in the hood. (smile) Young men have been asking for these tapes. I finally caught the show last night when I had insomnia. AWWW! These boys are so underrated. Buy the tapes. They display awesome, rawest of the raw talents and gifts. Off the heezee.

1999 World Series - New York Yankees vs Atlanta Braves
Released in DVD by 32 (01 December, 1999)
MPAA Rating:
In 1999 the New York Yankees held onto their position as "Team of the Century" by sweeping the Atlanta Braves in the World Series, making them the world champs for the third time in four seasons. In 1998 they won 125 games, a feat previously unmatched. The mystical Bronx Bombers had a tough year to follow; 1999 was bound to be a disappointment. But the Yanks never cease to amaze, and, by winning 99 regular-season games, they obtained a postseason berth. While some critics thought they had lost their edge, the Yankees relentlessly pursued, annihilating the opposition.

The 1999 Official World Series Video takes us through each game, highlighting the dramatic moments and augmenting them with commentary from the lineup. Ball players such as Chad Curtis, Bernie Williams, David Cone, and Derek Jeter give their own perspective on the games, showing their humble understanding of and pride in the Yankee legend. --Jeremy Storey

New York Yankees 4, Atlanta Braves 0
These "Official Videos" always do a decent job of covering not only the World Series but also the playoffs from the start to the parade for the victorious Yankees. Consequently, they will remind you of what you saw when you were glued to the tube. Of course, if you are not a Yankee fan the memories will just be too painful (although for the record I always thought Atlanta proved it was the team of the decade since it pretty much ruled the NL for the ENTIRE decade, but that's just me). The tape provides highlights, exclusive player interviews, and also includes a special "Team of the Century" feature that quickly runs through some of the memorable moments from all 25 Yankee Championships, so the effort to cater to fans of the Bronx Bombers is on overdrive. But that is indeed what I am, so this tape was certainly a nice way of preserving my memories.

Surprisingly good!
The production on this video is first-class and even though the Yankees won in 4, all the games were close. The first game pitching duel between Gregg Maddux and El Duque was classic! I have seen this video several times and it always seems fresh.

encore!!!!
The Yankees did a good follow up with this victory in 1999. The best games were 1 and 4. I was at 3 and 4.

Pride FC - Battle of the Rising Sun

Average review score:

A LOT OF GRAPPLING
The reason i bought this DVD was because of the positive reviews i have written about this edition of pride. After watching this pride event i was a little bit disappointed. I have seen a lot of MMA events (for example Absolute Fighting Championships,World Vale Tudo Championship, Free Fights events from holland and of course the UFC). When i liked a NHB-fight whitin these events, it is because it has moments in witch the fighters are testing eachother's skills standing up on their feet and moments in witch these same fighters are on the ground.
The event of PRIDE has too many fights that lasted too long on the ground. The fights are OR relatively short and ended on the ground, for example an early arm lock, OR the fights shows fighters who are constantly or for almost the whole time on the ground.
There are however 2 fights that are an exceptions to this. First, the fight between Gary Goodridge (pay attention to the way the japanese announcer pronounce the name of 'Big Daddy' Goodridge, very funny) versus Yoshiaku Yatsu. This japanese warrior said that not he, but his fans wanted him to fight. Gary really punishes his opponent and i assume that Yoshiaku Yatsu after this fight regrets his decision to fight because of his fans. However, he did show a lot of heart, AMAZING.
The second fight that is worth seeing is Naoya Ogawa vs. Masaaki Satake, that means JUDO vs. KARATE.
The Sakuraba fight is actually not worth mentioning. It did not last long.
I you like grappling or you're a fan of submission, in that case this PRIDE may be the thing you are looking for.
If you are a fan of KO's or you are a MMA-fan that especially likes the good old days of No Hold barred contest, you may be bored with a number of fights on this DVD.

mma's best
Pride is probably the best MMA tourney and this is one of the best groups of matches they put together. If you have watched any MMA tournaments, you owe it to yourself to see pride and this is a good starting point.
My only negative point is that the bonus material (DVD) is slim and the documentary!! tells you the results of fights you may not have seen.

Karate vs Judo .... who will win??????
This ranks right up there as one of the best PRIDE events... The lack of vale tudo type rules can sometimes lead to a few very boring GROUND and POUND matches in Pride but thankfully here aren't too many boring moments in this gem. There's a good old fashioned upset a biiiiig buttwhoopin and a couple of superb finishing moves. There are a couple of matches that look a little one sided but thankfully the winners won in style so that makes it all the more interesting....but I'm not sure if I can watch Katsu vs Goodridge again. The Judo vs Karate match with Ogawa and Sataakeis one of my favourites..the crowd is so excited that it adds to the whole thing. Since PRIDE NEW BLOOD is one of the most boring MMA shows I've ever seen it was nice to have my faith restored by this.

Tony Hawk's Trick Tips, Vol. 2 - Essentials of Street
Released in DVD by Redline Entertainment -- Red - (23 October, 2001)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Starring: Tony Hawk
Tony Hawk's Trick Tips, Vol. 2: Essentials of Street is a good sequel to Tony Hawk's Skateboarding Basics, with more advanced tricks that pick up where the first video left off. In the street section, featured tricks include the feeble grind, 360 flip, and hardflip, with help from the infamous Eric Koston, the 2000-2001 street skateboarder of the year and the X- games street gold-medalist. In the vert section, Hawk demonstrates ramp tricks like the 5-0 grind, frontside ollie, and backside disaster, with help from pro skater Colin McKay and Hawk's young son, Riley. Each pro skater has an animated portrait that randomly pops in and out of the screen, sometimes to give helpful bits of information or comments. But a little of this goes a long way, and it tends to be overused. --Neal Marks

My son had Volume 1, so he HAD to have Volume 2...
Andy's dad again. If you read the review for Volume 1, you know that I bought Volume I for my 10-year-old skater dude son. Well, guesss what? The same thing that happened with that happened with this. He watched it a few times and then set it aside and hasn't watched it since. My recommendation is the same as for Volume 1 -- borrow it from a friend, or check it out from your local library. If you buy it, it'll do exactly what my son's DVD is doing: gathering dust until we have that next garage sale!

An inspiration to continue skating.
This inspirational DVD is the best thing on market, even if the tricks on this DVD are sometimes tremendous difficulty. With Tony Hawk, Eric Koston and Colin McKay it's an inspiration to continue skating.
If you want to be a well rounded skater, the best thing to do is buy this DVD, watch it and keep watching it until you get all the tricks on this DVD.
Another thing SMILE!!!!!

#2
this is great it tells u how to do 360flips, backside flips ang hardflips. But you u want ramps your coverd! I can learn how to do a frontside ollie and lots of lips tricks. so you should............................................ BUY IT!

NBA: Allen Iverson - The Answer
Released in DVD by Warner Home Video (04 November, 2003)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Starring: Allen Iverson
Wildly exciting as a collection of great NBA moments, Allen Iverson: The Answer is a gift to average-size couch potatoes everywhere. Philadelphia 76ers guard Allen Iverson--a 6-foot-tall, 160-pound star in a professional sport where gigantism is the norm--is the worthy subject of this NBA Entertainment tribute. If it isn't exactly penetrating as journalism (Iverson's pre-college problems with the law receive little more than a murky allusion), it's certainly fun as an unabashed valentine, full of thrilling clips. The Answer is most entertaining covering Iverson's brief basketball career at Georgetown (he was first pick in the 1996 NBA draft, leaving school after his sophomore year), through his conflicts with Sixers coach Larry Brown and beyond. While there's a sprinkling of talking heads in The Answer, the most entertaining section finds Sixers fans sharing their thoughts on camera--some while eating their lunches. --Tom Keogh

An excellent dvd
Only one thing I can say about this; excellent

Great story.
The only bad thing about this video is that I wish it was longer. It has his lifetime story and his career in sports. It evn shows the moves he did on MJ back in college. It shows his high school football as a quarterback, special team, and running back and it also shows him playing basketball in high school and in Georgetown. It shows him being the #1 draft pick by the Sixers back in '98. It also shows the tremendous run to the NBA Finals against the annoying Lakers (except Shaq). But it also explains his childhood and his going to jail because of drinking problems. Overall, this video thoroughly explains AI's life and career and even includes some interviews.

The Best
This is the best DVD of all time

Los Angeles Lakers 1999-2000 NBA Champions
Released in DVD by Usa Films (01 May, 2001)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Starring: Los Angeles Lakers
When Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant joined the Los Angeles Lakers for the 1996-97 season, expectations were high that they would form the backbone of the next great Laker championship team. Unfortunately, spectacular talent doesn't always yield spectacular results, and after the team was swept out of the 1998 and 1999 playoffs, Lakers management brought in the ultimate coach: Phil Jackson, who won six championships with the Chicago Bulls. Once again the Lakers were expected to win it all.

This official NBA championship video follows the Lakers' exciting 1999-2000 season as they overcame an early injury to Bryant to post the most wins (67) in the NBA. Under Jackson's guidance, O'Neal improved his focus, conditioning, and maturity to become the dominant player in the game and win the MVP award. In the playoffs, the Lakers struggled a bit against the Sacramento Kings, the Phoenix Suns, and the deep and talented Portland Trail Blazers, but they survived and moved on to the NBA Finals against the Indiana Pacers. The second half of the video covers this "Hoosiers against Hollywood" series, with game film as well as glimpses of postgame press conferences and the Lakers' locker room and training room. Also included are footage of the Lakers' victory celebrations in the locker room and back in L.A., and a music video of Bon Jovi's "It's My Life." Laker fans will find this a memorable souvenir of what may be merely the first step of the next basketball dynasty. --David Horiuchi

It could be better
First of all : I'm not a Lakers fan. I bought this DVD because I love basketball and from the first day i had my DVD Player i wanted to have NBA DVDs. This Edition is a must have for Lakers fans. You have everything : from the regular season to the finals, the parade in LA, featurettes on Kobe, Shaq, Phil Jackson and Ron Harper. One of the things i like the most is the Top 10 plays of the 99-00 season. Maybe I would have liked to have more of the regular season and not so much focus on the finals (you can watch a resume of every game). The image is really good and you have a nice 5.1 mix.

the start of the RUN!!!!
this is a cool Place to Remember how short ago it was that the Lakers started there Version of DYNASTY!!!! this Video highlights the end results it was a Year that the Lakers went through so much&Grew together.A Big TOAST TO THE CHAMPS&Many More Rings Coming.

Begining of a new era
Lots of higlights, interviews with all lakers players including the coach phil jackson. The dvd higlights the lakers season from preseason to the finals and mention a short story 3 years past when kobe and shaq arrived.
Thou it is an exellent feature of the lakers season it lacks many season highlits wich showed their progress over the season under jackson.
At the finals I expected to see more coverage of the lakers-portland series (which was the real finals, here the lakers got the championship ring), It should have been longer than the lakers-pacers series coverage at the finals.
A must have for a lkaer fan and anyone who loves basketball!!!
