Good DVDs - Bad Packaging
Season 3 was one of the best of the Big Brother Series. (I also loved Season 2 with the "evil" Dr. Will). I'd forgotten alot of Season 3 - Amy & Marcellus, Chiara & Roddy, Lisa & Eric, Danielle & Jason... and good ole Gerry.

The fighting, the loving, Amy leaving then returning, Marcellus and his decision with the Golden Veto, Danielle and her comments in the Diary room - I loved all of it and was saddened when I finished watching it again.

The only "extras" are the audition tapes of the contestants. Interesting but I wish there were more "extras" such as comments from the House Guests or Julie Chen. Maybe the producers will add more on the next Big Brother DVD release. (Hopefully they will release more).

My biggest beef is with the packaging. I received the set with several DVDs loose inside their jewel box. A friend of mine received her set with alot of scratches on the DVDs. Instead of having each DVD attached inside, two DVDs "share" the same space, one an inch or two down from the other. The "top" DVD on each side is supposed to hold down the other one but comes loose so they both rattle around.

Another thing - I've noticed Amazon has raised alot of their prices and this is no exception. I bought BB3 here when it first came out and paid $49 for it but now it is selling for
$62.96. Ouch!

The best Big Brother of All
The original big brother was a big ole bore, the second one was good but it needed more drama. But by the time you get to the third one it's an all consuming soap opera you'll be obsessed with. I remember reading live feeds on the net constantly because I was so obsessed. And then there was bb4 whoich wasn't half as interesting because of all the undramatic twists but anyway here's why bb3 is so good...

This is the season in which consisted of Amy, Marcellas, Lori, Tanya, Gerry, Josh,, Danielle, Jason, Chiara, Roddy, Eric, and Lisa.

Some of the best drama was when Danielle has the hand washing blow out with Lori, the constant fighting of Chiara and Amy over Roddy. Amy's exit and then later return that had everyone talking, Chiara's betrayl to Lisa and Lisa's transformation from part of the "couples" group to her own butt kicking self, the performance by Sheryl Crow, and then in the end the good person won over the one who played the game but said some hurtful things about others in the diary room. This season had the best ending and payoff.

Truly the best of all big brother season's, if you love the show without a doubt you'll want the big brother 3 dvd's!

THE BEST IS YET TO COME!!!
Sure Big Brother 4 is now over...waiting for Big Brother 5. Getting the DVD's of Big Brother 3 will really go well for those who are waiting for Big Brother 5 to hit the air waves. This is the entire 3rd season and a must have for all Big Brother fans!!! (...)

Big Brother Trouble

Great movie, Great Soundtrack
My band (EXIT) has two songs in the movie, and we even performed at the Marco Island Film Fest where it was premiered. We all thought it was a well written and well acted movie. The movie is mostly geared for children but the plot is fun and upbeat and will be suitable for all ages.

Cute!
This movie is recommendable. Though I think its G rating is a bit too lenient because of Gwen's bikini scenes, aside from that the movie is really clean. It portrays a typical younger-brother/elder-brother struggle: Mitch, 11, discovers his new neighbor's 16-year-old beautiful and cute daughter: Gwen. He is determined to ask her out on a date, but his elder brother Sean, almost 17, is also interested and obviously much better suited for Gwen. The bitter struggle between the two brothers begins....

The movie is light and humorous, with some action and a little suspense. An all-happy end crowns the movie. Nice!

Caillou - Big Brother Caillou & Other Adventures

How to teach your child to WHINE!
If you're interested in teaching your child how to throw temper tantrums and how to whine when they don't get their way, look no further.

This DVD, just like the Caillou show on cable, is a horrible example for small children. I banned Caillou from our house after a week of our two small boys (ages 2 and 4) watching the show and then emulating Caillou's behavior. Too many examples of "I don't like that", and "I don't want to do that" (add Caillou's whiney brat tone and foot stomping for the right effect). And yes, it was from watching Caillou because they didn't do that before they watched the show, and they stopped doing that shortly after they were no longer exposed to Caillou.

I really don't see what parent's enjoy about this show. It's never allowed in our house again. There are plenty of "GOOD" kids shows that don't teach a child how to misbehave like Caillou. The creators of Caillou should be ashamed of themselves.

My kids love this DVD
I'm no child psychologist so I'm not going to try and determine whether or not this DVD is appropriate for your kids. Rather I'm just going to pass on this observation: Both my kids (ages 1 and 3) love watching this DVD; the oldest has watched it so many times that he even mouths the words as he's watching it (because he's memorized what's going to happened next). I suspect he finds this DVD so riveting because the story lines are so close to his reality (for example; having to share a toy with a younger sibling, or needing daddy to fix a toy). Irrespective; I've not noticed a change in his behavior when watching this DVD (unlike a Video on Monster trucks we once made the mistake of renting), and personally have no qualms letting my kids watch this show.

This is a great DVD for any age!
I love watching this DVD and I'm 14 years old! I shows that even though your not tall, you can still do great things. Also, Caillou tries to trick the tooth fairy, the family car breaks down, and more!

Nine Hundred Nights - The Story of Big Brother and the Holding Company with Janis Joplin
Released in DVD by Pioneer Video (10 July, 2001)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Starring: Big Brother & the Holding Company

Good Intentions, Indifferent Production
The good news about this DVD is that it does focus more on Big Brother as a band, rather than exclusively on Janis Joplin, as other documentaries have. Unfortunately, the sound quality is overall very poor, and the images are often washed out. This is especially noticeable because much of the same footage has been used in such other films as JANIS, MONTEREY POP, BIG BROTHER : BALL AND CHAIN, and various TV specials (A&E, Biography, VH1 and so on) so comparisons are too easy to make. I have reissues of 78 rpm vinyl records on CD that have been digitally restored to offer clearer sound than this DVD, and have seen silent movie images similarly restored, so I can only surmise that this documentary was hastily thrown together with an eye to the fast buck and not much concern for production quality.
That being said, the DVD does offer a fascinating look at the band members then and now. Some of them look back on the Psychedelic Era with nostalgic fondness, while others have obviously been clinging to and rehearsing their grudges for over 30 years. If they'd never met Janis Joplin, Big Brother's story might have been very different -- whether nobody would ever have heard of them, or whether they'd have made it big on their own raw-edged, bluesy terms, we'll never know. But this DVD offers tantalizing glimpses of not only what was, but what might have been.

VERY WELL DONE "DOCUMENTARY "ON BIG BROTHER
very good documentary on big brother and the holding company,my major interest was good vintage concert footage, so the highlight for me personaly were the four uninterrupted songs in the "extra" section of this dvd, three of the four i consider "very rare" as i have never seen them anywhere else,(b+w footage but great quality),please understand however that the bulk of this dvd is a documentary, one i consider very well done, but remember a "documentary" not a live concert film.***i think serious fans will enjoy having this in their collection.***

Naked Lunch
A fair portayal of the dynamic beween Janis and Big Brother. The band has been portraed as nothing more than a back up for Janis, when in fact it was an accomplished blues group in its own right. James Gurely was at the heart of Big Brother and the Holding Comapny. Unfortunately, Janis was too hot at the time to hold the egos together. The best jams came from the collaboration beween Gurley and Janis. Great to see the live perfomances!
