Robert Thurman on Tibet
Released in DVD by Wellspring (02 July, 2002)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Starring: Robert Thurman
Average review score:

ATTENTION !
This "On Tibet" should be renamed to "About Tibet". If your purpouse is to enjoy beautiful landscapes of Tibet, its religion, buddhism, rituals, sacred places and so on, you'll make a mistake buying this video. "On Tibet" is a 4-hour speeches about Tibet, Mr. Thurman standing in fornt of you like a teacher at school. It is boring and if you don't mind it is less expensive to buy an audio cassete or CD. Attention !

Thurman the Teacher
You need some background in Buddhism to appreciate this series. I have other films by Robert Thurman and find him captivating. This series is sort of an historical account of Tibetan Buddhism, is not as deep as Thurmans "Buddhism" and more centered on why, who and how the Dharma was spread in Tibet.

Chonda Pierce: Have I Got a Story For You
Released in DVD by Wea Corp (23 September, 2003)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Starring: Chonda Pierce

80 Minutes of Chonda - Isn't that Special
After attending the taping of this video earlier in the year I knew the stories were funny and the music was touching. This video captures the concert well, although I was suprised by the decision to turn Q&A and the concert opening video into "DVD Extras". It makes the beginning of the concert odd.

If you are a Chonda fan this is a good look at her on stage in one of her favorite places. Her stories are on the mark and the music is good. There is an audio editing flaw on the Sandi Patti Video ... a bit strange, but the concert itself and the revealing Q&A segment are worth the price.

Secrets of the Bible Code Reve

Rip off
The code of the bible?

After watching what the so called "code" is, you'll be disapointed after knowing that it is not that espectacular and the same result can be found on books such as moby dick.

It was something to think about?
When I was first asked to review this DVD by a friend I wanted to decline, but watched it anyway. It was my personal opinion that you can make anything say anything if you try hard enough.
The impression that I got afterward was that there were some very genuine people out there with far more expertise than I have in encoding and mathmatics that had found something extraordinary within the Hebrew text. So I have have elevated my opinion somewhat. There is no way I am going to be able to understand fully encryption methods..and debunkers use people's inability to grasp the mathematic concepts as a way to blast the whole thing.
I figure "out of the mouth of two or three witnesses" (add credible to that) all things will be established. These people seem competent, sincere, and not glory hounds, so I am left to think about it and wish that it would be indeed provable and acceptable in the scientific community. I would love theology and science to come together on something!
Over all if a DVD gives me ANYTHING to think about it is good. It is short documentary...and doesn't need two DVD's to show, but I didn't regret the time viewing it.

GREAT Book Short Documentary
The book is great. The documentary was short but gave a lot to think about that was hard to concive from the book. I do not own the Dvd's but i watched them before. The documentary was great. Both my family and I watched the Dvd and thought them great. Every one needs watch this. But the books are better.

Bible-Complete Series
Released in DVD by Goodtimes Home Video (06 February, 2001)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Starring: Charlton Heston
Average review score:

Poor Quality
I like this tape series, but the DVD scans are VERY POOR quality. They are grainy and almost blurred. The quality of the VHS tapes are much better. There is no reason for this.

Save your money. Buy the tapes if you want this series. We can't support people who put out a poor quality product to save money on decent DVD scanning.

Not to bad but a little over the top
Love C.H. but acting is a little over the top. Beautiful backdrops...

The Bible - Genesis
Released in DVD by Vidmark/Trimark (26 September, 2000)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Starring: Bible-Genesis and Ernano Olmi
Average review score:

The Worst
Just an old guy telling stories with images/scenes that have NOTHING to do with what he is talking about. Long, drawn out scenes with no narrative and, again, NOTHING to do with the Genesis story. Did David Lynch direct this?

The Creation and Noah`s Ark
Hi I`ve just saw this production of Genesis . I am sorry but I
think that Lux Vide could have done a better production of the
creation and the flood . I could not understand who the Narator
was . What had the Beginning and that man`s life had to do with
each other . The other productions like Solomon,Abraham,Esther
Jesus were much better

Too slow
This film is not bad in regard to biblical accuracy, but there are three problems. (1) It is primarily an old man telling the stories, rather than dramatization of the events. (2) It mixes scriptures from different parts of the Bible so that it is not just Genesis one is hearing in this film. (3) The primary problem is that the film is slow, with a long shots where nothing much is happening.

Greatest Heroes of the Bible
Released in DVD by Republic Studios (22 May, 2000)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Director: James L. Conway
Average review score:

Greatest Heroes Of The Bible
This Movie had great color and surrounding content. The Actors were of better than usual sincerity, but could have done better. As for the accuracy of Scripture, much was lacking. A lot of historical events of more importance were omitted and should have been given more consideration. There have been few movies where the Bible is presented that Scholarly concerns have been at the forefront. For the mosy part , the movie was of some importance and did shed some light on what scripture was trying to say. Since no one is perfect, I guess there is always room for improvement.

Greatest Heroes Of The Bible
This Movie has great color and background content. It is lacking in authenticity of facts as recorded in the Bible. There was a lot left out and not covered as concerning the Life of Samson and others. The Ten Commandments of Cecil B. Demile was much better and had more factual content than a movie of this caliber. It seemed as if the Producer was trying to create a fast event movie that would attract a less informed audience than those who are Bible Scholars.Accuracy is a must with Bible Scholars. R.C. Timms
