Las Vegas and all its glory
THE MOST ACCURATE AND COMPLETE VEGAS STORYAnyone who loves Las Vegas would love this collection. It is a well produced, entertaining and complete history of VEGAS! Once you finish watching this you want to catch the next plane to Nevada!
An amazing show! This is the best documentary on Las Vegas I've ever seen! Incredible interviews mixed with wonderful footage of Las VEgas new and old. It's worth it just for Debbie Reynold's comment that "No one got killed in Las Vegas who didn't deserve it."
Highly recommended!!
Highly recommended!!

Tipping the Velvet

Absolutley Superb!!!The TTV book was so overwhelmingly interesting and the mini series is just the same. You can feel every emotion of all the characters. Absolutley brilliant!!! The best I've ever seen and read.
FABULOUS!I happened upon the first three episodes at the 7th Annual Portland Lesbian and Gay Film Festival. I've never seen anything like it. It's fun without being too campy. Nan King is a wonderful character that you really empathize with, experiencing situations that we have all been through, just in a different time.
Tipping The Velvet-Most excellent video. After reading the Sarah Waters novel, I was keen on seeing the video production made by The BBC for TV in England. I was unsure of how much censoring would be done. I purchased the video from England, and after changing the region setting on my computer DVD player to region 2, I was treated to one of the classiest mini-series I have ever seen. Much humor, no censoring of the material, and a classy production reminiscent of Moulin Rouge of last year. Sensitive treatment of an otherwise neglected subject. Very classy show tunes and Vaudeville-like stage productions make for absolutely the best lesbian-themed video ever. Kudos to BBC for having the gumption to make this into video. Hats off to Rachael Sterling, Keeley Hawes, and also to Andrew Davies for a wonderful screen adaptation, faithful to the novel. They simply have to release this to the US market!!!

Excellent TutorialsBottom Line, if you are new to vegas and want to get started really fast or you've been using vegas and want to learn a good workflow and a lot of what it can really do, buy this baby! It's a great value as you can watch them over and over again and still pick up new stuff. Can't wait for the next set.
An asset for anyone using a NLE.A fantastic asset to your library. Douglas Spotted Eagle make learning the ins and outs of Vegas 4.0 easy. All 6+ hours are very interesting and entertaining. A true master at work! A real must have!
For beginners and pros!!!Superb! This well produced, well planned and well presented 4 disc series(over 6 hours of detailed information) will reveal numerous tricks as well as helping anyone who is already familar with Vegas streamline the process of capture, edit and export. He gives many insider tips and reasons for doing things a certain way rather than just telling you to do them.70% of the information applies to any version of Vegas including 2,0 and 3.0 Douglas is well spoken and easy to listen to. He does not talk down or get to wordy in explaining processes for techniques. I highly recommend and look forward to the briefly mentioned additions to this excellent training series. everything is covered here including sections on surround sound and greenscreening. note that these sections are mentioned as also being series of there own in the near future.
A must have! Worth every penny!!

Project Mayhem: Las Vegas
Released in DVD by y (02 August, 2002)
Average review score:

Shockingly Unbelievable!...WOW!! I just got a chance to see this video and it was unreal. I had no idea that people could perform these types of tricks on a motorcycle. This thing is jam-packed full of action and has a great soundtrack which, together, really keeps the pace up and will keep you glued to the screen. Oh, and I can't forget to mention the crashes ... WOW! This video was filmed here in my hometown and it was so entertaining to recognize the landmarks on which they were performing. The DVD menus and features were fantastic and easy to navigate as well. I would definitely recommend it to anyone that wants to see unbelievable tricks and lots of action.
Bad [...]This is the best extreme motorcycle video I have ever seen. There are so many stunts and crazy tricks, I cant believe they did not get arrested making this. Two thumbs up for this one, ...

Ultimate Vacation Collection (Vacation / European Vacation / Christmas Vacation / Vegas Vacation)
Released in DVD by Warner Home Video (07 October, 2003)
Starring: Chevy Chase
Average review score:

Finally!!! All In Widescreen!!! Buy It Now!!It seems like these classics (although I wouldnt consider vegas a "classic") have all been around the dvd world for quite some time, but in FULL SCREEN with zero extras! Finally someone got smart and decided to make em widescreen (the way it should be), and give us extras, although not much, like commentary, is still better then what we had!! I give...
Vacation 1- 5 stars easily
European 2- 4 stars
Christmas 3- 5 stars!!!
Vegas 4- 3 stars..pretty funny, but not as good as the originals!
The Best Family Films To Watch During a Vacation! These are the best movies for Families who have ever had a absolutely terrible vacation, or just want to see the worst case scenario of the perfect vacation. The original Vacation with Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo have great chemistry and always have laughs. I am personnally glad Warner Brothers got smart and put all four in a box set in WIDESCREEN format(the best format because full screen takes 50% of the picture away;why do you think WIDESCREEN televisions are so popular?!?!?)
I hope these movies are digitally remastered, and in jewel keep case boxes this time.
A definite buy for anyone who has ever had a vacation to an amusement park across the country, European countries where your ancestors once lived, a Christmas vacation with all the grandparents, or to the wonderful city of Las Vegas. It doesn't matter, all through and through these movies are and remain funny because of their comedy, and all comedy is funny because it has a little truth, like having Grandparents over for Christmas.

Chris Ledoux: Live at Bally's Las Vegas
Released in DVD by Emi Distribution (27 August, 2002)
Starring: Chris Ledoux
Average review score:

Don't miss this! This is a great video!! -although I was disappointed with the sound quality. It was great to hear from Chris and his family and friends. I'd love to see a more current video made because although this is great, he has matured as a singer and performer over the last 10 years. His more recent performances are much more energized.

Las Vegas Video Postcard

Great DVDThis was a great DVD on Las Vegas. Very current and had a good mix of hotel attractions and family things to do. I liked the show clips like Danny Gans. Made my trip to LV more fun now that I new what to look for and check out. Although I did not need the diffrent language tracks I think that it is a great plus to have Spanish German and Japanese all on the same DVD
The Best One Of AllI bought all of the new Las Vegas VHS & DVD titles here @ Amazon for my trip to LV and this one was the best by far. It was the best quality and after I visited LV it turned out to be the most up todate with the most usefull info. It was a bit more than the others but worth it!

Taxicab Confessions - The Very Best of New York & Las Vegas
Released in DVD by Hbo Studios (06 April, 2001)
Average review score:

Taxicab Confessions Gives a Great RideThis show is a shining example of how good television can be when lifted from the constraints of (network) censorship. The various Confessions, taken by hidden cameras inserted strategically in certain taxi cabs, range from pathetic to hilarious to just plain strange. Since the confessions occur in the same group of cabs over the years, the subtle and empathetic interviewing skills of these repeat players, the drivers "in the know," readily emerge. It is all the more remarkable in light of the varied situations they confront. Despite the broad range of story-type, the confessions are all universally entertaining. The fact that they run the entire emotional gamut speaks to the show's depth and ability to entertain on all levels. Almost as entertaining are the clips at the end that reveal the secret and show the passenger finding out they have been taped and signing the release form. You have to wonder why some of these passengers say or do the things they do when they exclaim "Oh, I've heard of this show!" or "This is my favorite ... show!" Whatever the reason, I, for one, am extremely grateful for their indiscretions. NOTE: As this is a television program produced by hidden camera in a taxi cab, don't expect any high production values or a "widescreen" transfer. But you can expect moving and memorable human stories. CAUTION: some of the segments contain nudity, and almost every one contains adult language.
THE FUNNIEST DVD EVER!I must say that the taxicab confessions are so hillarious. I will guarantee that you can't find a more entertaining movie, the antics range from drunk guy complaining about people breaking his car to stealing his dogs. If you buy this and are not happy with it I would buy it off you as it is one of the harder tapes/dvds to come by.

Viva Las Vegas
Released in DVD by Warner Studios (22 August, 1997)
Starring: Elvis Presley and Ann-Margret
It's pretty tough to beat Jailhouse Rock in terms of sheer entertainment, but Elvis lovers are particularly fond of this 1964 hit. The Big E plays race-car driver Lucky Jackson, who arrives in Las Vegas for an upcoming Grand Prix race. Lucky's car needs a new engine, so he gets a waiter job at a casino and starts working his crooning charms on Rusty Martin (Ann-Margret). It's their on-screen chemistry that makes this flick a lot of fun; Presley never had a better costar than Ann-Margret, and their race-car romance is quintessential 1960s fluff. Then there are the songs, of course, including the snappy title tune, a rockin' rendition of Ray Charles's "What'd I Say?," and "The Yellow Rose of Texas." Viva Las Vegas is one of the Elvis movies that stands the test of time, when the legend was still at his peak. And if you're wondering if the King gets his car fixed in time to win the race, well, check out this digital video disc to find out. --Jeff Shannon

swingin sixtiesGreat film but no thanks on a purchase offer, I'll spend my money on it when they release it in widescreen.
DVD a good deal for the priceViva Las Vegas is one of Presley's most entertaining movies, with several catchy songs and great vintage footage of Vegas as it looked 40 years ago. The DVD has no real extras (a trailer hardly counts) but the picture and sound are sharp enough for the reasonable price, and it's in its proper wide-screen format. When Criterion brings out their high-priced version, stick with this one instead--you'll be getting more for your money.
Great Movie!!Where are Pat Boone's Movies-Musicals!!Viva Las Vegas starring Elvis Presley and Anne Margaret was a great movie but it's unfortunate that another reknowned singer,Pat Boone has never had most of his movie-musicals released on video that were made during the 50's and 60's such as Bernadine,Mardi Gras,April Love,All Hands on Deck,The Yellow Canary etc...Video Distributors both large and small should aggressively pursue the release of these great Pat Boone movies that would prove to be a profitable venture,so spread the word!!!I mean Elvis as great as he was, shouldn't get all the glory!!!

Whether it is the Neon Oasis, The City of Sin, The City That Never Sleeps or whatever name has been attributed to it, Las Vegas is truly a magical and wondrous place that has grabbed the imagination and carefree attitudes of millions of people.
This DVD leaves almost nothing to the imagination and all the stops have been pulled out to give you the complete history of how it all came to be. You are treated with historical facts of how Indians first came to the Nevada ranges and tamed the land following with the Mormons who migrated in and set about to establish the early years in the area.
Without missing a beat, we then find out how the Mafia moved in and started to build casino's and created a dynasty to last for many years to come. As time goes on, you will be treated to interviews with many big name entertainers and entepreneurs who have shaped the city into what it is today. These would include but not limited to, Howard Hughes, Steve Wynn, Wayne Newton, Debbie Reynolds, Alan King and a host of others.
You will get to visit all the mega-resorts with all their glamour and hype and majesty and be amazed at just how much there really is to see and experience in this city without limits. This is a very satisfying 2 disc DVD documentary at an excellent price and is most likely the best look at Las Vegas you will ever see. Highly recommended to all.
