A Must have for all trippers
This dvd is a must have for anyone who trips. Watch this dvd while your peaking, its got so many visuals with Terence McKenna talking in the backround (this was also made live in san francisco) There is also a Diggereedoo in the backround (the australian instrument) and it really completes the package.

the plains of Afrika . . .
In a word - amazing, but like the psilocybin and dmt expereinces discussed, words cannot describe it. McKenna was an amazing man and will be sincerely missed. Alien Dreamtime is an adventure all its own - not only do we have one of Terence McKenna's vivid and insightful speaches, it is accompanied by the perfect didj music of Space Time Continuum and crazy trippy visuals - not the synthetic ... kind that look acid inspired, beautiful shroom inspired sights made me wonder whether or not they were in my head!

Amazing
Great graphics, interesting music, brilliant narration. This is a live show. It might be too trippy for some. But I thought it was great.

Roughnecks ROCK! Finish Season 1 and DO SEASON 2!!
Roughnecks is the BEST CGI Sci-Fi drama ever done for TV. Made for kids (I am 50) and botched by Sony/BKN from the start it has
nerver received a fair shake. Please INSIST that the last 3 shows and episode 31 (missing from Homefront)be included on a 2nd
Homefront DVD. I now have all 7 DVD's and 4 of the VHS tapes plus
all of the episodes I recorded during its short run on BKN. For a
show done in 1999 it is still TOPS in CGI Animation. Episode 31
is the exciting space battle between SICON and the Queen as she
heads for Earth, without it the first episode of Homefront makes
no sense! (The war is over????) NOT! Come on SONY...GIVE US THE
REST OF IT!!! It should have been ran in prime time. Great action
and characters, cool special FX and it is the only rendition that
even remotely follows the book! I honestly believe that Troopers
could give any prime time show in a family slot a run for its money! And lets not forget the "Clip Shows", Marooned, Court Martial and Boot Camp (These were how Sony got the magic "40" episodes without actually finishing the series. BUY THESE DVD's!!
AND MAYBE SONY WILL SEE DOLLAR SIGNS AND GIVE US THE REST OF IT!!

Buggalicious!
Another absolutely stunning adventure for the ROUGHNECKS, the "Zephyr Campaign" has long been referred to as the 'lost campaign,' seeing as it was skipped over in the DVD production schedule due in large part to what the producers had deemed 'questionable effectiveness' to their animation. Some of the imagery had been dubbed 'watery,' and there was thought that this campaign had a snowball's chance of seeing the light of day.

Thank goodness the kind folks decided to release it!

In the scope of the entire ROUGHNECKS series, ZEPHYR introduces some mighty fine species of new bugs for our heroes to fight, and the digital transfer is wonderfully done. The story also expands heavily upon the possible relationships between the principle characters, and the non-stop action continues from start to finish.

Please, please, please! Buy this product so that the producers will be able to justify completing the final three-episode installment to give us a fitting conclusion to one stunning series.

At last, the Missing Week
After almost a year of waiting, we finally have episodes 21 through 25 of this 40 episode series, bringing the total number available on DVD to 35 ... maybe we'll see the other five episodes some day.

This disk does not have quite as many features as the other disks in the series (multiple languages, for example), but they did go back to the studio and enhance the music and audio effects, and the full-length commentary track provides insights into the making of the series.

Even though the target audience was adolescents, I'm in my 50s, and have been anxiously awaiting this "missing week" to complete my collection. (I pre-ordered it as soon as it was available, as I did with the other disks in the series.) As different from the movie as the movie was from the book, it is still Very Entertaining, and I really enjoy watching the reactions of people who see it for the first time. :-)

As revealed on one of the other disks, the actors recorded the scripts of two additional episodes, but they were never animated ... budget constraints near the end led to the creation of two "clip shows" to deliver the promised 40 episodes (5 episodes a week for 8 weeks.) We now have 7 of what should be 8 DVDs, and if enough fans buy them, maybe the producers will complete the unfinshed episodes and include them on a final DVD.

Cast your vote for completing the collection by buying this disk ... and if you haven't purchased any of the others yet, get this one first, because it's a well constructed, self-contained story arc that stands OK by itself, even if it is out-of-context.

Atomic War Bride/This Is Not a Test
Released in DVD by Image Entertainment (16 April, 2002)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Director: Veljko Bulajic
Average review score:

Highly entertaining
I love this stuff! It's so bizarre! I've never laughed so hard as when everyone is told to don their anti-radioactive suits in ATOMIC WAR BRIDE and they're just big garbage bags! And then one guy tries to get inside one with somebody else because he doesn't have one. Pure hilarity!

ATOMIC ENTERTAINMENT!!
Mike Vraney has turned out this wonderful double bill of Atomic terror. The first film is Atomic war Bride from 1960 Yugoslavia, and it is a well made little film about atomic war and the devastating effects it has on people. A shocking ending as well.
The second filmis a gem called This Is Not A Test. I had seen this on late night television and never forgot it. A gritty, well acted film about several people waiting for the end of the world at a roadblock set up by a local policeman. Great film, great ending!!
The extras are good here as well. I highly recommend this dvd is you like 50's and 60's sci-fi.

THE ATOMIC BLONDE
Again S.W.V. pulls off another hat trick. Taking two atomic age films from opposite sides of the world (one, THIS IS NOT A TEST is all American, while ATOMIC WAR BRIDE, is all Yugoslavian - yes, they have a film industry), gives you a uncanny perspective on just how nuclear war was looked at. In some ways they are both the same, but in others, there are major differences (THIS IS NOT A TEST dissolves into a kind of material anarchy, while ATOMIC WAR BRIDE asks for and gets civil duty, but they both end with a bang). As for extra's, S.W.V. has a reputation for pulling together a string of themed shorts that are both funny and downright scary - the best of these shorts for this set is YOU CAN BEAT THE A-BOMB. I must warn you now that this short is perhaps one of the most jaw dropping and creepy short films you will ever see - not only does it approach the subject of nuclear holocoust with a FATHER KNOWS BEST mind set, but even for the time it was produced (1950) it is amazingly scant on details, and long on urban fantasy. Very, very creepy (and please, when you see this, feel free to email me, I would love to know what you think of it). As for the movies, both hold up very well. THIS IS NOT A TEST was done on a near zero budget, but manages to pull off the impossible by being entertaining and creepy all at once. ATOMIC WAR BRIDE is pure propoganda (and good luck trying to decide which side this film is really on), and yet oddly compelling. I can't recommend this S.W.V. DVD enough, it's a classic.

Wing Chun: The Science of In-Fighting
Released in DVD by C.A.V. Distribution (11 March, 2003)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Director: Woo-ping Yuen
Average review score:

One of the best Wing Chun information films made.
This is an excellent resource for students of Wing Chun. This, despite the fact that Master Wong intentionally demonstrated some things slightly wrong due to a distrust of the producer of the film. This doesn't take away from it's quality however. All of the Wing Chun principles are demonstrated and explained, and shot very well. It is a shame that the footage at the end supposedly for more advanced editions was only test footage.

But all minor niggles aside, not only is this one of the best presented Wing Chun instructional films out there - no displaying of Siu Lim Tao from all angles over and over, or specific techniques displayed without exaplanation as to how they apply to Wing Chun principles for example) - but it is also the only time the late Master Wong Shun Leung was captured on film in this way. So aside from being a great instructional film, it is worth the Wing Chun enthusiasts purchase if only to see all the film footage of Master Wong.

Oh, and the accompanying music's really groovy too! ;-)

Wong Shun Leung DVD
Video quality is above average. Felt like watching a good quality VCD. Audio is fair. This is a wing chun DVD with substance. Excellent demonstration by the Master and his students. Commentary was very good. It showed the basic principles and more importantly the application of those principles. Well structured content. Definitely a valuable resource for those training wing chun. Hope the advanced series will be out.

it works I tried it to my friend
It works! I tried to block with my right hand and left foot to my friends attack it really works he does'nt know were I learn it from. like I could sense his motion to strike I can see before hand like this is been rehearse before. great dvd than going to dojo spent time, traffic, and money.I'm practicing at my own time and place without leaving my job.gona buy part 2 if there's one Master Wong please make some part two...

Animusic

The First Successful Computer-Animated Music Video
This DVD is an amazing achievement. Seeing that the credits list all of three people makes this even more amazing. It is awe-inspiring to think that just a couple of people can amass the creative, artistic, and technical hurdles to assemble this DVD. I have seen this disc countless times now and my two year old son is enamoured with it.

Your first viewing will leave you slack-jawed. (I wonder if Disney's Fantasia had such an impact at its debut.) I have followed computer animation for quite some time, but this is the first time I have seen a truly successful marriage of music and computer animation. For me, "Drum Machine", "Pipe Dream", and "Acoustic Curves" are particularly appealing because they appear like machines that could exist in reality given a NASA-sized budget, much like Rube Goldberg inventions. The others are more fantastical, with floating drum sticks and string picks that appear to be operated by ghosts, and pretzel shaped laser beams. Although there is some duplication among the fictitious musical instruments, there is enough creative range between the pieces that no one is likely to complain about repetitiveness.

The appeal of the music itself will vary depending on your current musical fare. If you have listened to early John Tesh or mid-career Jean-Michel Jarre, the music will strike you as unoriginal. In fact, most of the music will feel very predictable - a solo instrument that is joined by additional instruments, rising to a climactic symphony of instruments. If you don't regularly listen to "New Age" music, this will be a fresh exposure to purely instrumental pop music.

This is a unique fusion of technology and art and I look forward to the already announced sequel.

A must own DVD
Got to see it to believe it. Guarantee to captivate all audiences at all ages.

Animusic. Musical Gift from God
Animusic truely is a masterpiece. I've bought the DVD, and the Soundtrack (The soundtrack has three more awesome songs). When I first saw "Future Retro" on "Eye Drops", a show on Tech TV, I fell in love. I got the DVD and watched other great videos such as "Pipe Dream","Drum Machine", as well as "Stick Figures". This is a very exciting video Album and I encourage you to get one!
I have used music from this album to perform with my Diabolo and the audience loves it! (I recieved permission to use it of course.)

Roughnecks - The Starship Troopers Chronicles - The Klendathu Campaign

Excellent Release
I was already quite pleased by the released of the Hydoran and Tophet campaign. This one is just as good. I look forward to the next one.

Keeps Getting Better!
Second to last in the series, this group of five episodes is extremely fast-paced and nicely plotted.
Best of all, in spite of this being "juvenile" action (as Heinlein originally planned to market his novel), the Klendathu Campaign has more depth of character, gung-ho humor and just plain good old-fashioned story-telling charm than anyone would ever expect from a CGI "cartoon".

As I have said previously, the creators of Roughnecks deserve at
least one Hugo award for their efforts. Granted, the graphics and movement are not up to the Spirits Within level. But for all the reasons that really matter - the heart and soul of a story well told with characters that have some resonance - Roughnecks Chronicles has all the spirit that counts.
Let's hope the creators of this thing get to finish it someday. And go on to give us more quality science fiction CGI.
Live Forever, you apes!

Missing Sequential Episodes!
Great dvd, however we are missing a story arc. I have loosely named it the Frozen (or Lost) Asteroid Campaign and it directly precedes the Klendathu Campaign.

The missing episodes are 121 - Ice-Olation", 122 "Mixed Signals", 123 "Hot Ice", 124 "The Inside Story", and 125 "The Ice Men Goeth".

Without revealing content, this arc introduces a new bug (Fireflies) and answers the question, what happened to Zander. We still have one more dvd to wait for...and that's a good thing.

Roughnecks : Starship Troopers Chronicles
I have to say that I usually do not watch cartoons whether they be celluloid or CG but I make an exception here. Not only is this an action packed series but it also has intelligently written scripts. The characters are believable and you do end up actually caring for them and hoping that they don't get skewered by bugs. I have watched every episode to date except the last Chronicle which has yet to be released, the Zephyr Campaign was just released last week so we're almost there. I recommend this entire series to anyone who loves SST or sci-fi for that matter and I know anyones children will love it too.

Roughnecks Ho!
I'm truly a fan of this series, and i thank myself for catching the first episode of this show. The CGI is stunning, something which i wished to learn... I'm bitterly disappointed with Sony for not producing the last 3 episodes, in which Humanity's last stand will be held deep underground in the core of the Earth. If Sony can't let us have the episodes, at least let us have the scripts... so we'll know what happened.

This campaign on Earth touched me quite a lot. Lt Jean Razak, a guy i have came to admire myself, died in line of duty. Why? Why must he detonate the grenade? Rico, Diz and Doc could have helped him! Frankly, episode 36, Funeral For a Friend, nade me cry... a great man, laid to rest. So, Sony, make it happen! Let's have the last 3 episodes!

P.S. To all the fansites up there, please petition for a release of the last 3 episodes. Look alive, Apes!

I waited for this?
After months of patient waiting for volume 4, I simply can't believe that Rhino would do this to us. After years of watching the same episodes OVER AND OVER AND OVER on Scifi every Saturday morning, they actually release four of those same episodes. Heck, I just watched "Girl in Gold Boots" THIS SATURDAY, and I'm sure some of you did too! I'm afraid that I'm just going to have to wait for the next collection and hope for the best... I just can't see spending the $ on this collection.

Thanks for any MST3K releases............
but how about Wild Rebels, Ring of Terror, Daddy-O, Earth vs The Spider, Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, Attack of the the Eye Creatures, Teenagers From Outer Space, and more shorts? Why not include commercials, Turkey Day bumpers, convention highlights, etc. as special features?<

Any day that an MST3K collection is released....
...is a good day. A show this creative should live on forever on tape or DVD. Unfortunately, due to rights issues with the underlying movies, MST3K is likely to disappear forever in January. Until that time, we have 4 more episodes to preserve for posterity, and to demonstrate to Rhino that there is an audience for this show.

"Hamlet". An underrated show, and a good candidate for DVD-hood. Mike and the 'bots win a game of 3 card monte and get to select their film. They choose "Hamlet" but let Pearl decide WHICH adaptation. Instead of Kenneth Branagh's 1996 version or Zeffirelli's 1990 interpretation, they get to watch this poorly-dubbed German made-for-TV slice of warm pork.

"Space Mutiny". Made in the one country not subjected to endless reruns of "Battlestar Galactica" - South Africa. What to do? Why , reuse the BG opticals in the bizarre space drama. The film can be summarized as follows: Our hero, Big McLargeHuge, does something in a spaceship that is made of brick walls and boiler rooms.

"The Girl With Gold Boots". A film made when Manson walked the streets. The less said about this one the better.

"Overdrawn at the Memory Bank". The kind of film your parents thought would be ok to watch since it was produced by PBS. It even has that flat videotaped "made in the UK" look about it. Little did your folks realize that making kids watch this awful Raul Julia vehicle is tantamount to child endangerment. The film itself is a futuristic "Casablanca" something-or-other. Oh, and it's hilarious!

In conclusion: buy this collection, even if these experiments aren't your favorites. Create demand for old MST3K episodes so that others might be released in the future. Supplies are really limited, so act now!

The Unidentified Flying Oddball
Released in DVD by Anchor Bay Entertainment (30 March, 1999)
MPAA Rating: G (General Audience)
Director: Russ Mayberry
Starring: Dennis Dugan and Jim Dale
Mark Twain's wit was oft demonstrated in his short stories and novels, and A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court certainly qualifies as one of his most popular. The tale's so well-liked that various renditions--including a musical comedy, an animated Bugs Bunny version, and two kid pics--have been turned into films and telefilms (many of which should be considered "inspired by" instead of straight translations). This Disney film takes the basics of Twain's charmer and turns it into the story of a scientist whose twin-looking humanoid will be the first to try out a faster-than-the-speed-of-light rocket ship. When the humanoid becomes afraid, the scientist climbs on board to comfort it and the ship accidentally rockets off--and into King Arthur's Camelot. Dennis Dugan, an underrated comic actor (best remembered as Richie Brockelman introduced on The Rockford Files), is the likable lead, as well as his robotic alter ego. Ron Moody is a wickedly creepy Merlin, Kenneth More is an elegant, if older, King Arthur, and English actress Sheila White (Oliver!) is a sweet Alisande. Despite its 1979 production date, the film has a surprisingly timeless look. Certainly, the low-budget technology can't compare to today's CGI miracles, but this film is more about ingenuity and resourcefulness, and it gets those messages across well. --N.F. Mendoza

Disney Live Action Comedy Hijinks
I remember seeing this movie back in elementary school, and I still find it entertaining today. As the synopsis above states, the plot revolves around a "modern" day space explorer who gets catapulted back to the days of King Arthur. The comedy is derived from the strange predicaments in which Dugan finds himself (the old fish-out-of-water ploy). The movie is one of Disney's better live-action comedies. Since much of the comedy is of the zany, slapstick variety the movie has aged well, and is still humorous twenty years later. The style of comedy is similar to what one finds in other Disney comedies such as the Love Bug. My six year old loves it. If you're a collector of Disney movies definitely add this one to your library.

A wonderful discovery of vintage Disney at its BEST
What a joy to find old disney movies released on DVD and in widescreen:) I just discvered THE BLACK HOLE as well also a disney CLASSIC of long ago, when special efects were invented 1st by Disney at every turn. Plus I love Dennis Dugan, you can just take so much of the same disney dudes over and over in the same roles. He is a refreshing change. And the Disney animtronics, that they were so famous for, like Abe Lincoln and the Teeky Teeky Room. BUY THIS One for your Disney collection. I am on a quest for all Disney Vintage movies for my DVD collection, and all the old classics, from Aladdin to Winnie the Pooh. Check out my More about Me page in the near future and you can help me come up with more titles that I have missed and I can help you out with your thirst for "The Happiest Place on Earth" :) When you wish upon a star, makes no difference who you are. When you wish upon a star your dreams come true :)
