The Hunted
Released in DVD by Universal Studios (15 December, 1998)
MPAA Rating: R (Restricted)
Director: J.F. Lawton
Starring: Christopher Lambert, John Lone, and Joan Chen
Christopher Lambert, the imposing French actor with the nasal whine best known to American audiences as Scottish swordsman Highlander, plays a rank amateur in The Hunted. He's an American businessman in Japan who lucks into a one-night stand with slinky Joan Chen and winds up a witness to her murder by a mysterious band of black-clad ninjas. Escaping not one but two attempts on his life by a little quick thinking and a lot of dumb luck, he winds up on a harrowing bullet train ride. As swarms of masked assassins decimate passengers in search of the elusive eyewitness, Lambert's laconic protector, rough-edged samurai Yoshio Harada, unleashes a martial arts frenzy of flashing swords in close quarters. His savior is not as altruistic as he seems, however. He just wants to lure mysterious ninja overlord John Lone out of hiding and into a fight to the death on Harada's island fortress, and Lambert is little more than live bait. Though it made few ripples at the box office, The Hunted is a slick and surprisingly smart thriller. Lone and Harada cut striking figures as the warriors following ancient codes in the modern world, and writer-director J.F. Lawton (screenwriter of Pretty Woman and Under Siege) gives them almost as much screen time as ostensible hero Lambert. The action scenes are furious and fast paced, lacking the grace and precision of real Japanese samurai adventures but full of clever flourishes. --Sean Axmaker

BUY THIS MOVIE
Holy moly... I can't begin to tell you how pleasantly surprised I was after watching this movie. Don't let the boring DVD cover or leading man fool you. Christopher Lambert is just an ordinary business man visiting Japan. John Lone & Yoshio Harada make the flick. Tak Kubota as Oshima gave the movie a bit of comic relief as well. The fight scenes are absolutely astounding. I watched this movie dog tired & was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I had to recommend it to all of my friends the very next day. I'm watching it AGAIN as I am typing this review. Two words... "Train Scene." If you want to know what I'm talking about, BUY THE MOVIE.

Have you ever watched a flick that was so good, with the main characters being so ruthless & believable that you couldn't help but get goosebumps? Well, here's an excerpt from the film that will give nothing away but a brief foreshadowing of just how good the Samurai was:

Paul Racine: What do we do if he loses?
Meiko: Takeda will not lose...

Have you got goosebumps yet? Those of you expecting a cheesy movie w/ horrible acting, CGI & impossible stunts done with cables, turn the other way. I bought this movie site unseen & without any recommendation from anyone except the plethora of 5 star reviews from Amazon. It was well worth the money & you will not be disappointed.

One of the greatest samurai/ninja movies I've seen.
This movie by far is one of the greatest martial arts action movies I have ever seen. And I've seen a lot of them. I first saw this movie on the USA Network, and was awe struck. I knew that I had to get this movie. Although the action scenes were too few for my taste, they were spectacular. They seemed as realistic as it could be in a movie. They weren't over the top using "wired stunts" like many recent action movies. The big climactic battle in the end was awesome. If you love martial arts action movies especially ones featuring Ninja and Samurai this would be a must have for your collection.

Code of Bushido
For those who like a more "realistic" depiction of Japanese martial arts, "The Hunted" is a MUST SEE. The only thing that seperates the Samurai from the Ninja IS the code of honor "BUSHIDO". The Hunted pits these two age old martial disciplines against each other in a very exciting and realistic way. The sword "fight" scenes are incredible at the same time believeable. A MUST SEE for anyone who enjoys, and appreciates, "BUDO".

Paulie - DTS
Released in DVD by Dreamworks Skg (04 March, 2003)
MPAA Rating: PG (Parental Guidance Suggested)
Director: John Roberts
Starring: Gena Rowlands, Tony Shalhoub, and Cheech Marin
The human beings are almost as interesting as the title character in this surprisingly subtle and engaging film about the cross-country adventures of a smart-mouthed parrot. As director John Roberts deploys the footage, the bird becomes a vivid personality; every quizzical twist of his head is oddly expressive. The people who interact with Paulie are a quirky and interesting bunch as well, and the casting is topnotch: Tony Shalhoub (The Siege) as a Russian immigrant janitor, Cheech Marin as an open-hearted mariachi musician, and Gena Rowlands as a widowed painter in a footloose Winnebago--all are vividly eccentric individuals, memorable in their own right. There are some tired swipes at the cold-blooded meanies of Big Science (beady-eyed researcher Bruce Davison has Paulie clapped in irons), but for the most part the film respects the complexity of everyone's motivations, and that's virtually unheard of in today's Hollywood, even in films supposedly designed for grownups. --David Chute

lets hear it for the boy
I sat at my computer as my son watched Paulie, which I thought was going to be a silly.; stupid movie(ie amazon has it paired up with mouse hunt as a combo deal) . At first it did seem like a typical goofy talking animal thing...but at some oint I found myself glued to the piece...this is a movie that can be kind of dumb, but also dares to be smart, sensitive entertainment. There are great contributions throughout, funny lines, and a sentimental moment or two. The tone of the movie is much more reverant and lovely than I thought it would be.
Again, if it wasn't for my son, these movies would never exist is my psyche....this is a nice little movie...let's hear it for nice.

Paulie
Paulie, was a great movie. Paulie learned to be polite, and to learn to trust people. Paulie, was seperated by his owner Marie, when she was very young. They finally met up 20 years later or so. It was an happy ending and hope to see it again soon!

WONDERFUL! I could see special movie this over and over!
Finally, I can actually reccommend a modern movie for the entire family! Yeah, there are some sad parts, but overall this is a first-class movie (far better than the crud Disney is churning out these days). I found the funny scenes and charming characters to far outweigh any depressing elements. I found the movie very uplifting.

Big Business
Released in DVD by Buena Vista Home Entertainment (13 January, 2004)
MPAA Rating: PG (Parental Guidance Suggested)
Director: Jim Abrahams
Starring: Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin
Average review score:

This Movie is hilarious
Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin are great together. They are very funny in this movie and I would highly recamend this movie to all ages from kids to adults. It is about two set's of twins who get seperated at birth because the nurse mixes them up. I think that this movie is a movie that you can watch over and over again because it is so funny!

They don't make comedies like this anymore....
I am SOOO HAPPY this is finally being released on DVD (my VHS copy has been watched so many times, it's not that good anymore!).

This is a great story about TWO sets of twins that are born in this rinky dink hospital in Jupiter Hollow, only to have one twin from each set mixed with the other. It's a hilarious romp and definitely a feel good movie. I think far too many critics these days miss that point. If a movie makes you feel good and makes you want to watch it over and over again, that's a 5 star movie.

Big Business will keep you coming back for a great does of monkey business!! Viva Tomlin and Midler!!

A FAVORITE OF MINE
It's a favorite in the sense that I can always count on this light-hearted comedy to make me laugh, and give me that warm feeling inside, even if I'm watching it for the thousandth time.Bette is great, and Lily Tomlin is fabulous as well.Lots of kick-but one-liners which crack the hell out of me to this day.Love it.

Geppetto
Released in DVD by Disney Studios (21 July, 2000)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Director: Tom Moore (II)
With Geppetto, Disney takes a different, live-action spin on the Pinocchio story it immortalized in animation in 1940. Yes, there's still the wooden boy with the nose that grows when he tells a lie, but here there are no singing insects (and only a bit of whale), and the focus is on the toymaker, not the toy. Geppetto (Drew Carey) delights all the kids in town with his creations, but he longs for a son of his own.Enter the Blue Fairy (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), who turns Geppetto's puppet (Seth Adkins) into a living, breathing (albeit wooden) boy, but the thrill soon wears off when Geppetto learns that being a parent is harder than he thought.

Carey gives a winning performance as the struggling yet loving father, while Louis-Dreyfus is an attractive (though a bit too toothy) fairy, and both prove themselves solid singers. To create a new sound palette for this 2000 television production, Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, The Prince of Egypt) wrote eight appealing songs, ranging from the tender lament "Empty Heart" to the bouncy duet "Just Because It's Magic" to the bravura aria "Bravo, Stromboli," sung by Brent Spiner (best known as Star Trek: The Next Generation's Data but also a veteran of Broadway musicals). A good supporting cast and decent if somewhat modest special effects help make this an enjoyable family musical for ages 5 and older. --David Horiuchi

The Best Gift I got for Christmas
Me and Krystle arose Christmas morning feeling good and very excited about our presents we continously awoke our parents who were dead asleep and around 6:00 we managed to wake them both and my sister. I first started out soft and I got a neat new soundtrack that I listen to a whole lot next thing I got was Prancer after I hugged that close to my chest and repeated thank you most likely several times I finally reached out for the last of seven presents I was thinking it would be some christmas film but I was T I totally wrong!! I asked Mom where in the world she got it she said she got it at Eckerd's and I think she said that she couldn't find it anywhere else the following day we went to my Grandma's I rushed into her room and quickly shoved the new tape into her VCR and I enjoyed and treasured every moment of this film. My sister Krystle is a very strong fan of Melissa Disney and when she saw her in the numbers Toys & Sasifaction Gurateed she was very happy to see her fave actress dancing and singing. I loved the number Pleasure Island but maybe that is because I loved every song in this film or maybe because that was the only song where I got to see some cute boys run around. I loved the appearance of Josh Sullivan and of course the ever so funny man and talent worthy Wayne Brady. I haven't watched it since Christmas but tonight after my sister falls asleep I want to try it out see if it can help me get some sleep and refresh my memory on the story. Anyway bottom line is it will make you cry and will mostly laugh throughout the whole film so treasure it cause out of all the ABC Wonderful World Of Disney films I've seen I believe that this one has to be the most cutest and heart raising one of them all!

Geppetto is a MUST
Geppetto is the sweetest, best acted movie I've ever seen. I am a HUGE (some call me obsessive) fan of Drew Carey and the talnted Wayne Brady. I watch the Drew Carey show and Whose Line so much, I may actually be turning into a hysterically laughing couch potato. I decided to watch geppetto to see Drew embarass himself. Afterwards, I couldn't believe I had thought he would. I had just seen the most amazing movie. I was surprised by Drew Carey excellent acting skills and voice. Boy, could he sing! I already knew Wayne would be a hit as the magician- he was quite funny. I continued to rent and rerent Geppetto for 2 years afterward. i still am in love with it. This movie is the best ever -- it's so sweet and funny, it gets you up when you're down. i can't live without this beautiful movie...or it's astoundingly talented star!

How clever!
What a great idea. To take a fairy tail and twist it around. It was wonderful. Have you ever wondered what Geppetto did while Pinocchio was away? Or how he got stuch in the belly of a whale? Or if he ever got upset with the blue fairy? All those questions and more are answered in this wonderfull musical your whole faily will enjoy for years to come. Buy it today!

Mississippi Masala
Released in DVD by Columbia Tristar Hom (27 May, 2003)
MPAA Rating: R (Restricted)
Director: Mira Nair
Starring: Denzel Washington and Sarita Choudhury
Mira Nair, the Indian director, scored an international art-house hit with her feature debut, Salaam Bombay!, a tale of life in the streets of seething urban India. Her next film was a surprising turnabout: Mississippi Masala is a cultural study and a love story set in the rural American south. The love story comes courtesy of Denzel Washington, as a rug cleaner, and Sarita Choudhury (from Nair's Kama Sutra), as the daughter of Indian immigrants running a small-time motel; both give fresh, charming performances. But Nair is equally interested in capturing the feelings of an exile's life, and Roshan Seth, the fine actor who played Nehru in Gandhi, superbly catches the hope and sorrow of dislocation. Although the issues are serious, Nair maintains a breezy, naturalistic approach, and the various ingredients of this masala blend into a rich, flavorful stew. --Robert Horton
Average review score:

BACK WHEN MIRA NAIR WAS STILL A TRUE FILMMAKER
What a brilliant piece of low-key, realistic movie making, from the days when Mira Nair was making in your face movies such as Salaam Bombay and Mississipi Masala.

The first thing admirable about it is Nair's ability to merge three cultures (Uganda, India, & Southern American) into an enchanting love story. An Indian family of a man, his wife and their young daughter Mina are expelled from Uganda under the reign of dictator Amin. The family eventually moves to the U.S. When Mina grows up she finds herself caught in a curious cultural twist and considers herself a mix "masala". She later falls in love with a black carpet cleaner (played immaculately by Denzil) only to stir up a hornet's nest in her family, culture and community.

The movie is from 1992, so the mild racism undercurrent may be a bit tired but wasn't when it came out, in fact most of the ironies (e.g., both the lovers are "colored" in different shades) are shown in a light-hearted and dignified manner.

The movie has a clutch of hilarious moments as well, which make it an all round fun movie to watch. Both the protagonists, Denzil as the southern man and Sarita Chaudhari as the Indian woman, are actually quite likeable characters and you end up caring about both of them.

A very wholesome treat to watch!

Something for everyone
I'm a big fan of Denzel, and all reviewers are right about the quality and sensuality of the love story that is central to this movie. And where else will most of us get to see Denzel do "The Electric Slide?" But...having said that, I found that the love story was the least interesting thing about this movie! I was fascinated to learn about the Indian culture in the South (and I have seen the "American owned" signs on motels in the South, an obvious attempt to attract patrons who don't want to stay at an Indian owned motel). The deep pain of exile felt by the father was the most moving element to me. I felt moved to tears at several points, and at the end. As a Jew, I identified very strongly with the father's and family's distress at being forcibly and violently evicted from home based on racial and ethnic hatred. A wonderful film.

Entertaining and thoughtful
This film is a wonderfully acted, directed and scripted parable on the power of love to overcome racial and ethnic divisions, filled with humor, insight, pathos and inspiration, and which completely avoids the trap of becoming preachy.
One of its particularly interesting insights for me was its take on the polarizing nature of black-white racial divisions in this country. This is shown not only by the negative reaction of the local Indian community in this small Mississippi town to the romance of one of its women by a black man, but, even more revealingly, by the response of the local whites, which results in the bank calling in its loan on Denzel Washington's carpet cleaning business, along with the loss of his white clientele. Even though the relationship in question is between two dark skinned people, the whites react to this as though the Indian woman is white; in otherwords, vis a vis blacks, if you are not black you are white.
I strongly recommend this movie.

Whatever Happened to Aunt Alice?
Released in DVD by Anchor Bay Entertainment (11 July, 2000)
MPAA Rating: PG (Parental Guidance Suggested)
Director: Lee H. Katzin
Starring: Geraldine Page and Ruth Gordon
Average review score:

my take on WHATEVER HAPPENED TO AUNT ALICE
I LOVE THIS MOVIE, IT IS HIGH CAMP, FUNNY AND BLACKLY HORRIFYING ALL AT THE SAME TIME. BOTH GERALDINE PAGE AND RUTH GORDON HAVE FUN WITH THEIR ROLES, ESPECIALLY THE FORMER, USING HER FACIAL EXPRESSIONS TO THE HILT, ROLLING HER EYES AND INFLECTING A SARCASTIC TONE INTO HER VOICE. RUTH GORDON, IF MORE RESERVED, IS JUST AS GOOD, AND VERY DIFFERENT THAN IN ROSEMARY'S BABY, SHE SEEMS REFRESHINGLY SANE IN THIS. THE PLOT MOVES ALONG AT A FAST BUT ENJOYABLE SPEED, WITH ONE OR TWO RED HERRINGS A LONG THE WAY. IF YOU LIKE PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLERS, A WITTY SCRIPT AND GOOD ACTING, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ONE. I RECOND HITCHOCK WOULD HAVE ENJOYED IT TOO.

Sheer brilliance
They do not make movies like this anymore. Geraldine Page plays a nutcase hell bent on murdering every housekeeper that comes to work for her. What makes it so memorable is how she discards of the bodies (I won't give anything away here). Also adding effect is the spectacular music. Ruth Gordon joins the cast as a housekeeper trying to catch her out. Bad move Ruth.
While this film might seem dated to many, no moviegoer can argue the brilliant acting and suspense. An all round favourite.

DELIGHTFUL GRAND GUIGNOL......
Anchor Bay is to be graciously commended for delivering this delicious concoction to DVD. A very black murder tale is marvelously enacted by two top ladies of the old school of acting---Geraldine Page and Ruth Gordon. They are perfectly matched in a deadly cat & mouse game that is one of the most entertaining films of it's kind. Page is left high & dry (she thinks) after her husband passes on so she moves to Arizona to make the best of it. However, her lifestyle is not to be denied as she carries out a wicked plan to supplement her modest income. What follows is a series of "companions" who mysteriouly disappear after allowing Page to "invest" their savings. Meanwhile, new pine trees keep popping up around her house. This is where Gordon comes in as she hires on to be the next companion. Actually on the trail of a friend who vanished while employed with Page, she has to match wits with the devious woman while trying to keep one step ahead of her at all times. The two Grande Dames go at it in high style and the viewer can just sit back and enjoy. Rosemary Forsyth co-stars as a new neighbor with a small son and a dog who runs afoul of Page and suspects something is wrong. The scene with Page trying to kill the dog (who just won't cooperate) is an amusing highlight. A most enjoyable thriller and very recommended---especially for fans of Page and Gordon.

Saint Tail - Thief of Hearts
Released in DVD by Tokyo Pop (28 August, 2001)
MPAA Rating: G (General Audience)
Meimi Haneoka seems like an ordinary 14-year-old, but at night she becomes Saint Tail, a cat burglar-Robin Hood figure. She steals only from the dishonest and returns purloined jewels to their rightful owners. She learns about these injustices from "nun-in-training" Seira, who assures her of the morality of each assignment. Meimi's escapades attract the local police, whom she eludes as easily as the crooks, using a combination of supernatural powers and sleight-of-hand magic. A more challenging foe is her classmate Asuka Jr., an aspiring detective who's determined to capture Saint Tail. Based on a manga by Megumi Tachigawa, the series ran for two years in Japan (October 1995 to September 1996). American viewers will find that Saint Tail plays like a cross between Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura; Meimi is not as ditsy as Usagi/Serena, but she lacks Sakura's unassuming charm. Unrated; suitable for ages 8 and up: Minor cartoon violence. --Charles Solomon

Great anime!
I waited sooo long to see this anime! Fansubs were hard to find and there were no Hong Kong imports done, so this is it! It's more serious than Sailor Moon and more "grown-up" than Cardcaptor Sakura(which is TERRIBLY, painfully English dubbed), but not as developed as Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne, which it is similar in plot to. Of course, there is a small mascot: Ruby the hedgehog, but she doesn't talk. Definitly pick this up, and if you enjoy it, e-mail the company and bug them to bring over KKJeanne and Corrector Yui.

The best!
I just bought this a week ago, and it's proved to be an excellent anime. If you buy it from Suncoast (as I did), you can get a limited addition box with this movie AND the first book. The book is good too.
I understand (from other reviews) that starting with Volume 5, that the English version will no longer be available. If buying for younger audiences, I suggest you not buy this until they won't get frustrated reading subs and watching the eps at the same time.

Pros:
great plot
good for young audiences
no nudity, swearing, etc.

Cons:
they stop the English feature @ vol. 5 (this might be frustrating for younger audiences).

This is one of the best series! You won't be let down!

A wonderful series!
I reccomend Saint Tail to anyone who likes a good shoujo. This is for children, and I reccomend it for children. It's a fun, heartwarming anime.

Courage Under Fire
Released in DVD by Twentieth Century Fox (18 December, 2001)
MPAA Rating: R (Restricted)
Director: Edward Zwick
Starring: Denzel Washington and Meg Ryan
A year after a devastating friendly fire incident during the Gulf War, Lt. Colonel Nathaniel Serling (Denzel Washington) is in a Washington, D.C., desk job assigned the rudimentary task of overseeing a Medal of Honor candidate who died in the war. However, the case and soldier in question are a political hot potato--Captain Karen Walden (Meg Ryan) is America's first female soldier to be killed in combat.

Serling soon finds discrepancies in the case of a downed Medevac helicopter in the rocky Kuwait territory. What unfolds in flashback are several versions of Walden's tactics (à la Kurosawa's Rashomon) to rescue the soldiers and survive the downing. As with Glory, Director Edward Zwick's cast of unknown and famous faces always comes off as the real article. Walden's crew is especially convincing. Matt Damon as the medic comes off as the giddy scaredy-cat when telling his story to Washington. In battle he's a flawed, humorous soldier. The most surprising work in the movie is done by Lou Diamond Phillips (as the group's gunman), whose career had been headed to straight-to-video oblivion.

Then there's Ryan. She has done well with dramatic work in the past (When a Man Loves a Woman, Flesh and Bone) but has never been able to escape the romantic-comedy image. With dyed hair, a light accent, and the dramatics of the situation, Ryan finally has an enduring dramatic film. Even though she has half of Washington's screen time, her brave and ultimately haunting performance makes Courage something special, right down to its curious but rewarding final scene. --Doug Thomas

Average review score:

Big-name stars: A great story, brilliantly acted.
First off, the time for this review is a little off. (09/2003) Right now the "anti-war" crowd seems to hold sway ... at least in the media. But take it from a former soldier, this is a great and very realistic story about what happens under fire.
(War ... IS ugly. But perhaps September 11th, 2001 taught us there are some battles you should not run away from.)

You should also read a few of the other reviews about this movie, they are very well-done.

This story is about Denzel Washington's character (Sterling) who is assigned to investigate a dead helicopter's actions after their aircraft went down in the first Gulf War. (1990) The deceased helicopter pilot is Meg Ryan's character (Walden); she gets precious little screen-time in this movie ... it is perhaps the only criticism I can think of that is valid.

I don't need to tell you the rest of the details, story and technique of this film, other reviews do this as well as anyone possibly could. What I do have to offer is a word about the acting of this movie.

Normally Denzel Washington plays action characters, and Meg Ryan almost always seem to do a comedy/drama about a woman in love. Here both actors are engaged in a radical departure from their normal fare.

I don't know how many Oscar's this film was nominated for, (and I don't really care, Oscar's seem to be as much about politics as anything else); but Washington, Ryan, and Damon all give performances that are quite worthy of this award. And the rest of the cast is very good as well. I would personally like to say that this film could have easily been the best picture of the year, and the actor's could have easily walked away with several statues. The director could have won an Oscar as well.

In the end, you are irrevocably drawn into the story and live it, just as you should be with a really good film. My only word of warning is that this is a real tear-jerker, the end of this one could have you crying like a baby.

There are few films that I would recommend to anyone, this movie is definitely one of those. (Of course you have to put the kids to bed, some of the words, action, and violence are not really suitable for children.) A+

Oscar Material for Meg Ryan
It's April 2003, and I just viewed the DVD for the first, second, and third time. This may not be a politically correct movie with the war today, but it is one of the best I have ever seen. Meg Ryan, although with limited time in the movie, showed more than just being a cute actress, which she has been stereo typed as. I think the unpredictability of how the ending turns out, shows she is one of the top actors today, and should play more serious roles. This was an Academy Award performance.

Denzel, as usual was perfect and so believable in the role. He is without a doubt one of the finest actors of our times. The movie, with the flashbacks, emotions was directed and produced that kept the audience glued to the movie, and brought tears at the end.

How I missed this movie when it came out, I don't know, but the casting and acting should have won this movie and Oscar or Golden Globe Award. War is ugly, and ugly things happen we prefer not to know. This movie portrays what families should be told, and although necessay, war is never glorious. This movie should be dedicated to all of the unsung hereos of our Nation that have lost their lives to protect ours. And the true cost of our freedom.

A couragious film that deals with current event's.
Edward Zwick's impressive Gulf War film about the horrors and
the soilders that fought in Iraq in 1990 is a somber look at the
reality of mistakes in war and the sacrifices soilders made that
had to high of price for the burden that they must go through on
any given day.But even as I write this review this almost deals
with current events in it's war subject now that it looks ever
closer that another war in the gulf is becoming closer then we
think.

The date January 1990 president George Bush has exausted all
ways for a diplomatic solution with Iraq he has no choice but to
prepare the United States for a war with Iraq within the gulf of
Iraq Lt.Colonel Stirling is in charge of a battalion of T-72's
along with a platoon of soilders in his command including Boilar
his best freind. But just when things are going as normal as they
could be Lt.Colonel Striling orders under fire to attack a tank
in the distance not knowing weither it is one of there's or an
Iraq T-72 and tragedy overwelms him when he attacks with frendly
fire his friend Boilar.

Meanwhile back in Washington still battle scarred from his
terrible tragedy in the Gulf ,Stirling is orderd to investigate
weither a female commading officer should be honored with the
medal of honor while he helicopter was shot down behind enimey
lines , he goes to each of the members in her platoon and get's
diffrent and conficting storys from a scared war torn soilder
played by Matt Damon to an emotionally scarred gunnery srgt who
is played by Lou Diamond Phillips but that is nothing compared
to his reliving his tragedy with his freind over and over and
his personal problems with his family, but Stirling gains much
more with this investigation then he could have imagined and
that is he get's a chance to gain his Honor back as a soilder
and it only to Capt.Karen Walden(Meg Ryan) to relalize that
and to face up to his responsibilitys to tell Boilars family
the truth on the horrible day an honestly give a good enough
investigation so that Capt. Walden can be honored in all and
every respect as a soilder with honor and courage.

Courage Under Fire is a well acted film an incredible opening
with a recreation of the Gulf War,a good cast and a good story
fine perfomances by Denzel Washington and Meg Ryan bearly any
options on this DVD but good use of Dts a wrothy addition to
your DVD collection.

The Accidental Tourist
Released in DVD by Warner Home Video (20 January, 2004)
MPAA Rating: PG (Parental Guidance Suggested)
Director: Lawrence Kasdan
Starring: William Hurt, Kathleen Turner, and Geena Davis
Lawrence Kasdan adapted Anne Tyler's novel into this mopey comedy which, oddly enough, took the New York Film Critics Circle's best picture award (a case of strategic voting getting out of hand). William Hurt plays a depressed travel writer struggling to come to terms with his son's death. He buys a dog for companionship, then hires an eccentric dog trainer (Geena Davis, who won an Oscar for her role) to teach it to behave. She, in turn, teaches him to reconnect to life. But as he is beginning to admit his feelings for her to himself, he is blindsided by the return of his estranged wife (Kathleen Turner), who attempts to rekindle their marriage. A muffled, low-key affair--so low-key that it sometimes seems positively stationary. --Marshall Fine

It's about time
A long overdue release on one of Wm. Hurt's best flicks. Now if Anchor Bay could release "Until The End Of The World" everything would be good.

About time for this release
Ive been waiting for this title to be released on DVD for almost 4 years. One of the best films ever. I was glad this never fell into WB's unfortunate discount line of DVD's that didnt even get a widescreen treatment. It will be nice if this release has a few extras, but Im looking forward to it anyway. I would be highly disapointed if this isnt released widescreen, it would keep me from purchasing the DVD.

Take an emotional "tour" and watch this movie
This movie has an almost "independent film" vibe, with its odd characters and quirky humorous moments. If only a great DVD would come out! But I make do with my worn video copy. It's a great movie to watch on a lazy rainy weekend when you don't want to leave the house. William Hurt plays a travel writer, slowly pushing away everyone in his life after his young son is killed in a robbery, unable to deal with his great loss. Kathleen Turner plays his wife, who leaves him once she recovers from her son's death. Geena Davis plays a dog trainer who ingratiates herself in Hurt's character's life, eventually forcing him to rejoin the living. Anyone who has suffered a great loss either will recover on their own or will slowly build a wall around themselves, such as Hurt's character does. If only everyone had a Muriel to come along with a sledgehammer to destroy their walls! Definitely a movie for anyone who needs to be reminded of the redeeming power of love.
