don't buy it, even if you're a fan...
I bought it because of the obvious reasons the nude scenes, I also thought, "How bad can those movies be ?". Well people, my question has been aswered, they (both movies) are REALLY bad. Keep your money people, instead rent it and "grab" the "important" scenes with your computer...or download them from somewhere....believe me it's not worth it....
PS: If downloading the videos is illegal, just rent it once, you'll see what I mean...

This DVD is lacking in a big way.
I have always been a fan of Anna Nicole Smith but I have to admit that these two movies are awful. The only reason why I like them is because I love cheesy movies. If you don't like Anna or cheesy flicks, then don't bother with these. Let's see, now that we got that out of the way, what about the DVD itself? It has the feeling of a fly-by-night company. The DVD packaging is flimsy. There's no booklet or cover sheet inside. It's only one DVD, with one movie on each side, but the DVD itself isn't marked so that you can't even figure out which movie you're going to watch until you put it in. Extra features? Absolutely none. The only options available is 'play' and scene selection (8 chapters to choose from). The only good deal out of this is that you get two movies relatively cheap. Unfortunately, if you're not a fan of Anna, you're going to be very disappointed.

My favorite fried chicken eatin' hot mama's double feature!
Hey Pam Anderson fans! Burn that copy of Barb Wire and watch a REAL woman in action. That's right Anna Nicole Smith sizzles the screen and commands every scene she's in. An Anna DOuble feature on one DVD? I'm in heaven! Why Anna isn't making more movies is beyond me. Every red blooded American man should stand up and shout "I love Anna! She's the American man's Dream!!!" Do it now!

Her acting is as professional as Bette Davis or Audrey Hepburn could ever hope to be. The range of emotions she can display makes you aware that she was born to be an actress and show her talent to the fullest.

Long Live Anna, she makes American cinema great!

Street Fighter -- Collector's Edition
Released in DVD by Universal Studios (27 May, 2003)
MPAA Rating: PG-13 (Parental Guidance Suggested)
Director: Steven E. de Souza
Starring: Jean-Claude Van Damme and Raul Julia

No.
Blanka looks like a Tauntaun on Paxil...only worse.

When Ryu uses the Hadou-Ken, you see him do the stance for it, then it just cuts to a flash of light. You never see an actual fire ball.

Guile has an accent...for an all-American Air Force pilot.

Blanka dies.

Blanka is a chicken-wuss in the movie.

Seeing Blanka represented by Clay Aiken painted green makes me want to kill myself.

Seeing this movie when it was in theaters, made me stop playing the series.

Even an algebra special on Public Access is cooler than this. At least with that, there's a plot.

STREET FIGHTER - - COLLECTOR'S EDITION
Have anybody encounter any problem with this DVD ? All the new generation DVD PLAYER including THE HIGH END MODEL , can't play this title .

My old PIONEER PLAYER can only play this title . I recently bought a new copy but the problem still the same .

STREET FIGHTER suppose to be a big hit for VAN DAMME but end up being the biggest flop movie . Director STEVEN E.DESOUZA seem have lost his direction . Even the anime is much better than the live action . Why can't they shoot this movie with a serious script , minus the comedy part & made the action scene more reliastic . IS A LIVE ACTION MOVIE , NOT AN ANIME MOVIE .

Ah! DON'T change the channel!
Street Fighter is one of my favorite movies but is sooo short it makes me wish there was more to it. The plot is sort of wacky and cartoonish, too. Major Bison (Raul Julia) has created a new force of evil called Bison troopers and has captured a number of soldiers and nurses from the Allied Nations. The goofy part is that he is holding them ransom for $20,000,000,000 and they have three days to live. If you're gonna do that, ya might as well kill them or ask for world domination! You'll never get that much! At the same time, he has taken Colonel Guile's-AN soldier-(Jean-Claude Van Damme) friend and attempted to turn him into a killing monster. Guile, angrily and vengefully, goes to recover the hostages and kick son of a bi***'s Bison's a** so hard the next Bison wannabe will feel it (quote Colonel Guile). There are so many other turns in the plot that makes it fun to watch. Its also got lots of comedy and action/adventure to rock the genre. Rent it first since it is a movie that only certain people have taste for.

Saint Tail - Girl of Justice (Vol. 5)
Released in DVD by Tokyopop Inc (14 May, 2002)
MPAA Rating: G (General Audience)
Average review score:

Tokyo pop - Company out of touch
My girls have been fans of Sailor Moon, Rayearth, Tenchi and many other series. We came across Saint Tail by accident, but my younger girls really enjoy the series and wait impatiently until the release of the next DVD. This release came as a big disappointment for them.
I understand why the company chose to do this (lower cost for them), but I think they need to keep in mind their audience. It would have been easy for the company to either release two DVD products or to have included both languages on the DVD.
I don't know if this change in format will stop us from buying further Saint Tail DVD's. It will all depend on if the consumers (my girls) fail to watch this DVD as much as the previous titles because it is too difficult for them to read and watch the action at the same time. The whole purpose for watching a movie is enjoyment, not frustration.

saint tail girl of justice
I think it is very hard to read the words and look at the movie but some times it can help you learn to speak japanese.i will not buy till you make it in English.

I don't mind the english subtitle
I truly enjoyed the DVD. If you're a CardCaptor fan you'll probably love it too. The show's based on a teenage girl who, like all teenagers, is not let sure about her place in this world. Somewhere in her search she discovers what it means to help others. With the help of her friend (who is a nun in training) and the legacy of her parents. She begins her own destiny by dawning the identity of "st. Tail." She is simular to Robin Hood, except instead of robbing from the rich she robs from the robbers and gives back to the "robbys." Plus she has to dodge the police and a boy named Auska jr, who is determined to catch her (for more reasons then one =). "Anyway," it's a cute show and if you like 'cute, little, girl power stuff' then you should check it out. Alot of people express complants about it being in Japanese. But don't let that stop you, if you don't mind reading it's not that bad. Plus the DVD is actually a really good deal because you get 7 epo. for [the price].--. "Okay," I've said enough. I hope I've helped.

The Chamber
Released in DVD by Universal Studios (26 May, 1998)
MPAA Rating: R (Restricted)
Director: James Foley
Starring: Chris O'Donnell and Gene Hackman
A top cast consisting of veteran aces Gene Hackman and Faye Dunaway can't rescue this way-too-long, dreadfully earnest version of John Grisham's equally gimpy novel. There are several problems in this story of an intertwined Southern family who must disentangle themselves from the past and the dark shadow of a 1967 bombing. That terrorist attack led to the deaths of two Jewish children and was pinned on the black-sheep patriarch of the family, a racist, card-carrying Klansman named Sam Cayhall (Hackman), who is now serving time on death row for the hate crime. Years later, the savior grandson cometh. Young-buck lawyer Adam Hall--played with righteous determination and limited range by Chris O'Donnell--pulls out all the stops to save his client from the Mississippi gas chamber. As is usual in Grisham country, the poor lawyer becomes embroiled in a plan more diabolical, corrupt, and layered than he could guess and the truth spirals out of control, endangering lives, and opening old wounds. The Chamber attempts to twist and turn through its plodding story, but there is no gray area in which to force the viewer to weigh his or her conscience against the skewed facts. Everything that occurs in The Chamber is black or white, good or bad, and there is no crisis of conflict to make us question the morality and stance of the two sides in play. The bad guys are awful, the politicians are bought off, the cops are either corrupt or apathetic, and only one puny guy is left to bring down a house of cards that's been standing solidly for decades. O'Donnell is quickly put to shame by Hackman, who even manages to suffer through a sadistically long, melodramatic stroll down death row with his dignity intact. --Paula Nechak
Average review score:

LONG BORING NOVEL = SHORT MOVIE THAT BOMBED
Chris O'Donnell, Gene Hackman, Faye Dunaway star in this terrible boring movie based on John Grisham's novel.

O'Donnell stars as idealistic young attorney Adam Hall who takes on the death row clemency case of his onetime klansman grandfather, Sam Cayhall (Hackman). With just 28 days before the execution, Adam sets out to retrace the events leading to the crime for which Sam was convicted. As the impending death sentence looms closer, Adam works quickly to uncover the family's history for any - hidden clues.

There is a serious problem with the book and movie, the book is long and so boring and it's sad to say a bestseller. The movie is short and a obvious bomb. Usually John Grisham books are great, thrilling suspensful fun. While John Grisham's movies are long and good, there at least 150 minutes this one was 1 hour and 53 minutes. What happend here? I'll tell you a lousy novel equals a lousy movie.

Don't bother
About halfway through the book,"The Chamber", I discovered that the movie would be airing on television. It's pretty difficult to review a film that can barely hold your attention, steadily, for no more than half an hour. It lacks the gripping drama and suspense of the book and of other Grisham novel adaptations like "The Firm" and most especially "A Time to Kill".

With the exception of Gene Hackman as death row inmate Sam Cayhall, the casting is what most hurts this movie. Chris O'Donnell may have been the big "it" guy as far as young actors at the time this movie was made, but he just can't hack it in the role of a lawyer. Especially one who is defending his grandfather on death row. You'd expect a lot more emotion and charisma. O'Donnell's portrayal lacks this natural emotion and frankly, the confidence needed in general to be a convincing attorney. Lela Rochon is rarely good as anything but eye candy and since that is not her role here, she doesn't fit. In the most odd and questionable casting move, football player Bo Jackson as the death row warden? They shouldn't have adapted this great novel into a film, at least not at a time when the field of young actors was so scarce and undesirable.

The storyline is great but in the film it is so cut down that you're best off to just stick with the book version.

not the best
This movie is about a young lawer trying to get his gramd father out of prison. The grandfather is on death row. In the end ol' grandfather gets gassed. Groos this movie was mot to great but the acting and bachgrounds were great. The plot was the worst ever.

Mobile Suit Gundam - The 08th MS Team - Miller's Report (Movie)
Released in DVD by Geneon Entertainment (19 March, 2002)
MPAA Rating:
In this brief OAV, Federation intelligence officer Alice Miller pretends to examine captured Zeon mobile armor, but she's really investigating the conduct of Lt. Shiro Amada during the skirmish that reunited him with Zeon noblewoman Aina Sahalin. Miller bluntly challenges Shiro's conviction that even enemy soldiers shouldn't be killed unnecessarily, but Shiro remains unshaken in his beliefs, even when staring down the barrel of a gun. Miller's Report consists almost entirely of recut footage from the 13-episode 08th MS Team adventure. Seeing Shiro and his loyal crew of misfits again is a welcome prospect, but there's very little that's new. The 08th MS Team is set in 0079 UC (Universal Century), within the main Gundam continuity. Rated 13 Up: Violence, profanity, brief nudity, alcohol and tobacco use. --Charles Solomon

Cynical attempt to squeeze more from the loyal fan
Warning: If you have the 08th MS series (or even just vol 3) do not buy this DVD. Please rent or borrow it and you will see why. It adds nothing to what you get in vol 3. There are several reason why I say this:

1) The events take place during episode 8 (Duty and Ideals) with truncated battle footage from episodes 7 and 8. It claims "over 25 minutes of bonus animation". It didn't seem like it was that it was that much to me and I not sure if this includes the "special feature" footage from the PS2 game "Journey to Jaburo". The only additional footage to episode 8 was extended scenes in the investigation of Shiro being a Zeon spy and the character of Alice Miller, a Federation Intel officer. Nothing is added to story that you see in episodes 7 and 8, except that the reason that Shiro and the team undertake the dangerous mission in episode 9 (Front Line) is because they were give the choice to go on the mission or be punnished (which meant a firing squad for Shiro). We also see short scene where Eledor returns from the hospital.

2)There is something wrong with the sound. The cover claims "New Japanese and English 5.1 Dolby Digital Audio". This "new" audio makes the character voices sound very tinny like they are speaking through a pipe. I found it really annoying and spoilt my viewing.

3)Value for money. I don't understand how they justify selling this DVD for a higher price that the 4 series DVDs when it has less actual content. The cheaper series DVDs contain 90 mins of episodes, Millers Report is only 55 mins long. I guess the higher price is because they sell it as a stand alone "movie" (which I think is pushing it).

4)Lack of special features. I might accept all this if something was added in they way of special features that you don't get on the 4 series DVDs but there is nothing that you don't get on those DVDs.

I love the 08th MS team series and think it is one of the best and most realistic Gundam series to date. But I have given it such a low rating because it is clearly a cynical attempt to squeeze more from the loyal fan, because the only people who are going to buy this after reading all I have said is the fan that must have it all for his Gundam collection. ...

Don't buy it.
I thought I was getting a movie that went passed the final episode 20. Well, I was wrong. Basically this just reiterates all the events that happened in the series. It sheds some parts about missing things but other than that,I would move on. Go see the next series in Gundam's universal century series. Go and get 0080 War in the pocket and 0083 Stardust Memmory. Those I highly reccomend watching after 08th MS Team which happens in 0079. Make sure to watch' em in sequence.

An interesting report?
O8th MS Team holds the honour of being the longest running Gundam OVA. Although a mere 12 episodes, it was plagued by behind-the-scenes problems that led to it taking almost 4 years to reach it's end. To try and gain some interest into the drawn out affair, Bandai produced a movie to tie in with Gundam's 20th anniversary. Thus, Miller's Report was born.

Largely made up from OVA footage, the movie adds a plot of the Federation sending one Alice Miller to investigate Shiro, who at this point is believed to be a Zeon spy. Although initially acting as Shiro's friend, we soon learn that this is a trick to get him to talk openly about his encounters with Aina. These flashbacks are made up of re-used footage from the OVA. However, the scenes are told from Shiro's point of view so you'll miss out on some scenes from the OVA. As Shiro is confined to base, a group of Zeon pilots end up coming to Kiki's village for food. Although they intend not to bring violence, the youngest of the Zeon is an arrogant jerk who soon starts a conflict. Word reaches the 08th MS Team, who go against orders to save their friends.

Some other reviews call this a waste of time and a desperate attempt to get more money from the fans. Whilst this is partly true, I believe the DVD is worth a purchase for Gundam/08th MS Team fans. Bandai have not brought over the similar but much worse 0083 compilation movie. Miller's Report shines where that fails, showing that this is the right way to handle such a project. There's also the very good extra of all the animation footage from the game Journey to Jaburo. Whilst you might expect a trailer or two, Bandai have been generous to include all the footage from the game. The only complaint I have with this is that you can only listen to it with the English cast.

Whilst not the greatest Gundam movie, 08th MS Team:Miller's Report certainly isn't the worst.

Jefferson in Paris
Released in DVD by Buena Vista Home Vid (11 November, 2003)
MPAA Rating: PG-13 (Parental Guidance Suggested)
Director: James Ivory
Starring: Nick Nolte
While American history buffs and Gwyneth Paltrow fans will want to own this movie just because, it actually compels the viewer to examine the life of our third president a little more closely. Jefferson focuses on the mid-1780s, when widower and pre-presidency Jefferson (Nick Nolte) replaces Benjamin Franklin as the U.S. representative to Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. A lively period, to say the least. And lively, too, is Jefferson, keeping time with a married woman (Greta Scacchi). Also in Paris is one of Jefferson's six children, his eldest daughter Patsy (Paltrow), who went on to have 12 children of her own--remarkable for the time. When another daughter dies back in Virginia, Jefferson sends for his youngest, who brings along her slave, Sally Hemings (a luminescent Thandie Newton), then 15. As nearly everyone knows now, Jefferson allegedly had a long relationship with Hemings and, reportedly, several children with her. This Merchant-Ivory production, written by frequent collaborator Ruth Prawer Jhabvala, languidly attempts to depict a complete portrait of the obviously complex and conflicted Jefferson, who kept slaves but penned the Declaration of Independence.

Initially, Nolte may seem an odd choice--he doesn't resemble the familiar visage on a nickel (or $2 bill). Still, Nolte's performance and his contemporary feel lend a credibility and immediacy to the fascinating story--however true or apocryphal it may be. --Nadine Mendoza

Average review score:

Long, boring and offensive (to me anyway).
Long and boring sum's this film up, and its anti-English (like most American film's these day's). Though you probably don't care about that. I'm going to keep this review short because this film does not deserve a long one.
Complete load of garbage.

Jefferson in Pieces
This is an unusal period piece. What is the main theme? Slavery, incest (father-Nolte almost kisses his daughter- Patlrow, (Isn't the slave his daughter as well?), foreign service, women's freedom, (Paltrow character wants to stay in Paris and be a nun), or a close look at Jefferson himself? These elements don't really ever mesh into a complete story. It is somehat intriguing, however. I gave it 3 stars for the acting and costumes. If this film is based on fact, Jefferson was a pretty undesirable fellow!

Captivating
An engaging and thought-provoking movie; one of the best movies I've seen in a while. I didn't find it boring at all, the human drama unfolding in front of me had my full attention. I'm not judging it from the historical point of view, I'm sure history buffs can find plenty things wrong with it. But to me it wasn't about the facts; it could be set in any historical period, as far as I'm concerned. It is a story about human emotions, and, like the real world, it has an ambiguous feel to it; lots of grey, lots to think about. So if you're into "soap opera" love stories with a happy (or unhappy) ending, don't waste your time, you'll be bored.

Hell Mountain
Released in DVD by Mti Home Video (31 October, 2000)
MPAA Rating: R (Restricted)
Director: Mike Rohl
Starring: Mike Rohl
Average review score:

You'd have o be chained to the couch to watch this movie!
Undeservedly overlooked at this year's Oscars, this is actually a retitling of a film called 'Hell Mountain', and has all the hallmarks of a tedious cash-in. You'd be half right; while nothing to do with the 1983 classic, as post-apocalyptic soft-porn B-movies go, it's not at all bad. And, believe me, I've seen enough to know how bad it *can* get. Fortunately, CH3 is set in a future where fertiliser and guns are in short-supply, but civilization still has an abundant supply of thongs and hair-stylists. The plot/excuse has a village exchanging their nubile young girls with an evil (and disfigured, natch) man who runs the fertiliser mine. This peeves one of the boyfriends, who looks like Kyle McLachlan, but sadly possesses none of the quirky wit. Oh, and all teachers bar one have been exterminated.

Certainly had potential --- but failed to deliver
I generally love women-in-prison films because I really enjoy that whole genre of vulnerable young imprisoned girls being preyed upon by bad-girl-cellmates, evil lesbian guards, and that always lustful female warden. This one DOES have the lustful female warden (but not enough of her), and there is one guard who just might be a lesbian, but the rest of it is disappointing and falls flat. For one thing, there are WAY too many guys in this film! Big mistake!

Basically, in the future women will be enslaved to work the salt mines, but one girl in particular has a boyfriend on the outside who wants to break her out. And, of course, he does. The best scenes (in my opinion) involve the beautiful, older female warden and the two young, blonde female sex-slaves she keeps for her private pleasures. I really liked it whenever those three were on the screen. Unfortunately, that was only twice, and too briefly at that. Of course, there's also an obligatory shower scene, but the women all kept their clothes on!?! What fun is that? Granted, their outfits were skimpy... but really! I liked the scene, but like the film itself it COULD have been a LOT better!

A futuristic WIP
very nice if you a WIP-B flicks fan. very good picture quality with famous faces playing minor roles, it must be hard 2 earn money in holywood these days. the plot is weak but for genre fans it is an entertaining 90 minutes of nothing
