Gospel
Released in DVD by Delta Library Compan (28 May, 2002)
MPAA Rating: G (General Audience)
Directors: Frederick A. Ritzenberg and David Leivick
Starring: James Cleveland, Walter Hawkins, Twinkie Clark, and Shirley Caesar
Hallelujah! How better to respond to this wonderful document than with some measure of the joy and passion displayed by the participants? Filmed at Oakland, California's Paramount Theater, the 1982 film brings together some of gospel music's heavy hitters (including the Rev. James Cleveland, Shirley Caesar, the Hawkins Family, and the Mighty Clouds of Joy). And folks, there is some serious testifying going on here, both onstage and in the audience, as one performer after another does his or her best to tear the roof off the sucker. Don't be deceived by the gospel moniker. Take this music out of the pew and into the pub, and you've got Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, James Brown--that's how good some of these singers are. And if righteous rave-ups like the Hawkins' "Right On" and Cleveland's "Determined to Make Heaven My Home" don't get you moving, consider investing in a defibrillator. --Sam Graham

Enhanced with extra features including singer profiles
Gospel is a superbly presented DVD showcasing live musical performances by Shirley Caesar, The Clark Sisters, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, Walter Hawkins and the Hawkins Family; and the celebratory Christian message of Rev. James Cleveland. An incredible visual and musical celebration of love, Christ, and jubilant performance, Gospel is whirlwind rush of emotion, sensation, and abiding faith. The DVD format is enhanced with extra features including singer profiles, a scrapbook, venue highlights, and immediate access to specific and favorite songs. Total Running Time: 93 minutes.

The Holy Grail
This video is a marvel. Any fan of soul music will surely appreciate WHERE people like Sam Cooke, Wilson Pickett, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin etc. received their inspiration and training. And that is from gospel music. This tape is one incredible performance after another that is both entertaining and very moving.

If you can`t respond to the Mighty Clouds Of Joy in this video, you are off my party list permanently. :)

Wonderful, Anointed, Vintage Gospel
This is a must see video of the late James Cleveland, the appointed, Pastor Shirley Ceaser, Bishop Walter Hawkins, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, and the Dynamic Clark Sisters.... I have watched this video over & over and can not get enough of the wonderful sounds of each gospel artist in this movie.... From the Mighty Clouds of Joy quartet sound,to the grand finale in the end with Walter Hawkins and his group... this is a must see video... James Cleveland, Shirley Ceaser and The Clark Sisters each prove that they rule the gospel circuit in male soloist, female soloist and female group category respectively. I encourage you to buy this movie..It is a must see treat! God bless you... Juan L. Maultsby

The Adventures of Paddington Bear (The Complete Time-Life Library)
Released in DVD by Ventura Distribution (01 October, 2002)
MPAA Rating: G (General Audience)
Dear Aunt Lucy, I've just compiled 42 of my favorite stories into a tidy little collection, called The Adventures of Paddington Bear. Do you remember all the post cards I've sent you from around the world? Well, now children (perhaps 3- to 7-year-olds) can learn from these many international adventures of mine. Imagine a little bear such as I nearly becoming a NASA astronaut, a Chinese acrobat, or a sumo wrestler! Whether at home in England or abroad, kind words and marmalade sandwiches often save the day. Each story in my 300-minute collection unfolds like the classic Paddington Bear tales told by author Michael Bond, and contains delightful animation with high attention to detail. One minor curiosity: the little booklet enclosed with the collection proves as chaotic as my trip through the London underground. Best to ignore it, pop in a show, and enjoy a lovely marmalade sandwich! Fondly, --PB (as told to Liane Thomas)

Great, but
This would be a 5 star review if only the box contained both DVD's.I hope it was only my copy that was incomplete, but be warned anyway.

Enjoyable cartoon version of a classic
This Paddington Bear collection offers stories from the new two-dimensional cartoon series made in Britain not long ago and brought to America with the voices dubbed into American accents. Parents who remember the old classic stop-motion Paddington Bear series with a puppet bear, that Disney licensed from England a long while back, may wish to pick up those tapes too: the first video volume of the old series is called "Please Look After This Bear" and features the wonderfully understated narration of the late Sir Michael Horden. The puppet bear in the original series was developed by Ivor Wood, who went on to develop Postman Pat, a huge hit in Britain, and "caviar to the generals" to some North American families with small children.

Other great kids shows are: Mouse and Mole, Fireman Sam, Old Bear Stories, Brum and the Baby Carriage, Old Bear Stories, William's Wish Wellingtons, Noddy, Kipper, The Secret of Roan Inish, Big Friendly Giant, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, the Jeremy Brett-acted Sherlock Holmes mysteries, Princess and the Goblin.

A collection of adventures of the most lovable bear from Eng
Paddington Brown is a very endearing bear for the young and old. He has a straightforward and simple approach to life and he only sees the good in every situation. He gets into messes but always manages to turn things around. This is a wholesome, nonviolent animation for kids.

Great one to start with
This library is excellent, as all the songs are rather well-known, but they're also a good time. A good mix of slow & fast songs.

Very good informative voice over and pictures of the rosary. A wonderful DVD for parents to watch with their children and to discuss the life of Christ and the prayers of the Rosary.

Good quantity, Bad quality
Lots of great songs, but some of them have this irritating electronic voice "singing" the lyrics which is really offputting, especially on "My Way" - couldn't work out how to switch it off on a regular DVD player. For $45, or even $36, I'd expect better quality.

Sang to our hearts' content
Nice mix of male, female and duet vocals. Appealing videos and easy to read lyrics that help you keep the rhythm.
