Lighthouses of the Oregon Coast
Released in DVD by Beckner Media (01 September, 2002)
MPAA Rating:
Director: Steven Beckner
Average review score:

Spectacular Photography, Great Narration & Music! Top Notch!
This splendid video will take you to the Oregon's wonderful coast and Lighthouses. It is spectacularly shot, dramatically written, and well produced. You will not be disappointed with the well read narration reminiscent of Charles Kuralt himself. The rich history is told dramatically told through historical photos, crisp images with dramatic lighting and even old ghost stories. The beautiful and relaxing soundtrack is written by the multi-talented filmmaker himself.

This is not your typical dry news documentary with average daylight photography and academic narration ... but rather a wonderful dramatic story of Oregon's lighthouses, their history, their beauty, and splendor. A must have for any lighthouse lover to add to their lighthouse collection!

Top quality video
My husband and I went to Oregon last summer and I remember seeing this video in the sea lion caves gift shop. I regretted not getting it and am glad I found it at amazon.com. For anyone who likes lighthouses or the Oregon Coast, this DVD is a real treat. The quality and filming are exceptional. There are nine lighthouses featured. I enjoyed the narration because it included a lot of really interesting background information on each lighthouse such as the history of the lighthouses, how they were built, and the lenses. You can also run it on your computer if you have a DVD drive.

Bikini Beauties in Jamaica
Released in DVD by Photo John Inc (23 September, 2003)

Finally, a good bikini video
I really liked what I saw. I enjoy looking at sexy and cute women in bikinis. Bikinis are very sexy, and there is no other modeling like bikini modeling. What was done here is rare. There are not very many (hardly any) good bikini videos available ANYWHERE. Not only is this a nice bikini video, but the models are VERY attractive. On top of all that, they are women of color, which is even more rare!

The vibe of the video is very good. The models seemed genuinely happy and comfortable, and it wasn't fake and stupid. It was entertaining to watch. The women were being genuine.

There are other videos that are so cheap, tacky and low class that even though the girls are absolutely beautiful, and even though there is much footage of them naked or in very little, the vids are boring. It takes more than nakedness, or skimpy clothing to make a video entertaining. I have some of those vids and can count on one hand how many times I've watched both of them. I watched "Bikini Beauties" twice last night alone, and it is enjoyable because you don't have to sit there through the pathetic acting and phoniness that goes on in so many poorly done girl videos.

I wish there was MORE FOOTAGE!!

Awesome!
The dvd was great the first time, I'm sure I'll be watching it again many times! Quality of picture is outstanding, as good as anything I've seen on the travel channel and the soundtrack was very well integrated with the narration & guides. My favoirte part is the helicopter/airplane views of portland. Flying over fort williams was breathtaking. I suggest ordering this for any portland transplants or would be tourists(people from away:)). They even have a trailer on their website.

United Airlines Boeing 777
Released in DVD by Just Planes (02 October, 2003)
MPAA Rating: G (General Audience)
Director: Michel Moskal
Average review score:

Fine DVD Production Showing Off The Remarkable Boeing 777!
This volume of the "World Air Routes" series of DVDs (from Just Planes Videos, Inc., of Boston, Massachusetts) features a unique behind-the-scenes look at one of the largest airlines in the world: United.

Just Planes takes us on board two of United's fleet of fifty-plus Boeing 777 widebodied twin-jets (Registrations: N770UA and N771UA), for a complete round trip from Chicago's O'Hare International Airport to London's Heathrow in the U.K.

Our United Captain (Captain Eldridge) gives the viewer an extremely good overview of cockpit operations and a detailed explanation of all the instruments on the flight deck of the amazing 209-foot-long "Triple-Seven" airliner.

In addition to the flight-deck lesson, this 2-hour program also offers up some fine in-flight scenery during the pair of flights presented.

This DVD is a great way to take off in a large jetliner without ever leaving your living room. Video and sound quality are outstanding on the disc, with a 2.0 Dolby Digital Stereo soundtrack utilized. Aspect ratio is Full Frame (1.33:1). Chapter stops are included.

There are some excellent taxi shots on this program as well. The footage of our Boeing jet taxiing to the active runway for takeoff at a very busy O'Hare Airport is worth the price of the disc alone.

So ... If you ever wanted a comprehensive look at the goings-on behind the scenes of a major airline (and a rare chance to see inside the cockpit of Boeing's magnificent 777), then the purchase of this DVD should be a no-brainer.

Las Vegas Video Postcard

Great DVD
This was a great DVD on Las Vegas. Very current and had a good mix of hotel attractions and family things to do. I liked the show clips like Danny Gans. Made my trip to LV more fun now that I new what to look for and check out. Although I did not need the diffrent language tracks I think that it is a great plus to have Spanish German and Japanese all on the same DVD

The Best One Of All
I bought all of the new Las Vegas VHS & DVD titles here @ Amazon for my trip to LV and this one was the best by far. It was the best quality and after I visited LV it turned out to be the most up todate with the most usefull info. It was a bit more than the others but worth it!

The Key West DVD
Released in DVD by Disc Odyssey (29 April, 2003)
MPAA Rating: G (General Audience)
Average review score:

Not great
I thought it would be a vacation guide to Key West. It was not. Firstly, it is very short. Just over 50 minutes. It did not point out specific sites or the best places to go (someone had stated it was an "insiders view", I would disagree). It did feature the "Conch Train" which was sort of interesting. But it was mainly a historical/cultural look at Key West. In doing so, it was far too brief to be particularly effective.

Also, it came in a cheap cardboard container. Not the typical size or construction of a DVD container. For the price, I expect better.

Bottom line, if you are looking for a vacation guide try something else. If you just want to see what Key West "looks like", you may enjoy this DVD. Even then, it is far to brief to justify the cost ... Not particularly well done either.

Useful & Recommended
My family traveled to Key West in April and we bought the DVD before we left. It was less a guide and more of a good overview of the island with great imagery, local music and a well-written voiceover.
We did find a lot of the places on the DVD and felt we had a more informed vacation after watching and learning about Key West on this DVD.

A Good Glimpse of the Popular Island
I found this DVD almost by accident by researching our recent trip to Key West on a popular Key West site. I found that, in addition to a paper guide book we bought, the DVD gave us good insight into the many interesting and quirky facets that make Key West such a special place. I recommend it for what it is...a well-made tour of Key West.

Santa Barbara Movie Tours

Events -
If you've never been to Santa Barbara County this will definitely give you a nice flavor of all the great restaurants, hotels, places to visit and annual events that happen in and around the area. I really enjoyed this DVD. I wish more popular places to visit would put together something like this!

Great Gift!
I live in Montecito near Santa Barbara. This DVD was a great gift to friends and family traveling to our area. So much to see and do - Santa Barbara is the BEST!!

Great Area Coverage!
This title really shows the diversity of the Santa Barbara area. With many videos and the best of SB - there are quite a few interesting sections to bounce around and explore on this DVD . . .

Route 66: Return to the Road with Martin Milner
Released in DVD by 0a (24 January, 2002)
MPAA Rating:

"True Grit"
I express and share the same enthusiasm as many of your other reviewers with regard to "Original TV Series", demand. While this was a good nostalgic effort in its own right, I encourage the studios to release the original TV series on DVD, as soon as possible. The original series was a superb example of the fine writing and terrific acting in programming during this period. There is a huge untapped market for the "fine scripted" tv series programs of our generation. My "wish list" would also include other fine series such as, "Adventures in Paradise", "The Untouchables", and "The Fugitive".

Route 66
This is a pretty good DVD but..

When is the studio going to make a DVD of the original Route 66 TV shows. It was a great program and always done "on location". If they can maek a season of "sopranos and Sex in the City why not record the original Route 66 shows. I am sure a lot of us baby boomers that watched the original will buy the DVDs.

This is the trip all right
No mistake, this DVD is about Route 66 the "Mother Road" and really not at all about the great TV show. But, if you want a wonderfully produced, nostalgic and thoughtful trip down US Route 66 from Chicago to LA this is the ticket. Much more history and witness interviews and reminiscences than I thought would be captured. Its a pretty long video.. 2.5 hours! But, if actually travelling (vicarously?) the road in a C1 Corvette with a fun and entertaining movie star is what you want, I say again, this is right on the spot.'

The music is mostly newly recorded versions and variations of the TV's show great "Theme from Route 66" and with Martin Milner and a 'Vette identical to that from the show, you might consider this a new, feature length installment of the show. In a nutshell, this episode is primarily about the road and the car and a long magnificent drive through our country... instead of those things mostly being in the background on the TV show. And, if you are at all considering to do a nostalgic Route 66 trip this DVD is a must have resource for planning the sights and people you might want to visit along the way.

I loved the TV series too and I have a few of the episodes on VHS. But, even more, I love the actual road and the 3 trips I've made on it from Chicago to LA. Yes, get your kicks.

My DVD worked flawlessly start to finish. I bought it new from Amazon in Aug '03.
