Tony Sweet is a phenomenal photographer. He narrates the still photography by telling why he took the picture the way he did (composition), what filters he used, etc. There are also a lot of videos with Tony on field assignments with his students. A lot of information on this DVD. Well worth the money. You will view this many, many times. Awesome!

Tony Sweet is a true artist and craftsman. He shares his knowledge, which has taken him years to accumulate, having studied with the best in the business and gained experience on his own. In addition to his gift as a photographic artist he also has the talent to reduce his technique to rules which he teaches. Check his web site. I met Tony about one year ago. After spending one week in his course I was dazzled. During the week there was much discussion regarding the DVD. I couldn't wait for it's release. After receiving the DVD I discovered it was much more than I expected. I spend a few days watching it over and over again. The images are great. As much as the image greatness; probably the best portion of the DVD is Tony taking the time to explain the details of the images. The how and why. I would recommend Visual Rhythm to everyone. It will improve your skills.

The course will teach you both basics and advanced techniques to take a full advatage of digital equipment you own to shoot the best digital photos you can and to make them impresssive to everybody who looks at them. Your tutor really knows what means good photo, especially digital one.

This 2-DVD set is excellent. You will learn everything you need to be a digital photographer. Plethora of usefull information imparted in a very friendly way by an experienced professional photographer.

This is a great introduction to the greatest photojournalist. I don't feel that I am exagerating here at all. Smith changed the history of photography, and his pictures changed in very real ways, the history of our country and others as well. He was a complicated person, likely suffering from significant psychological issues and other problems, but his work shines through.
The movie shows him, blemishes and all, as the photographer,poet,benzadrine user,manic artist who defined a discipline that brought horrow and joy from places far away, suddenly into our living room, suddenly very close to us.
This is a typical "PBS style" documentary - you're children may become bored, but I would recomend it to any one who loves photography and photojournalism.

I just watched this documentary. It is an honest and very well conducted portrait of this man, Gene Smith, probably one of the most important photographers of our time. Claerly, the man who inspired the fancy-overrated-rich-and-famous Sebastião Salgado. But Eugene was an artist in the pure sense, sensible, human, and with a genuine concern about our world, and obsessed with his job to show us the truth. Even a very bad conducted personal life, wouldn't hurt the precious art he left to us.

The fact about this film is that it seems to be no book around as rich and detailed. If you already like Eugene Smith, buy it. If not, buy it too, and you'll learn to love him.

This is a superb dvd to those that are interested in Photography in general. If you are a beginner or a pro, the material shown here will make you blown. This DVD covers every area of photophy, and contains almoust thousand of pictures of the greatest camera artist,

I've always been interested in taking photographs. The part I hate is all the technical details and having to read the manuals. There has always been this barrier to understanding how to REALLY use my camera (a Nikon 880) well. It's loaded with features I knew nothing about. I've never taken a class and didn't know an f-stop from an aperture. This DVD certainly helps clear things up a bit and I think my photos are getting better. Can't wait for the next volume!

I've been shooting digital photography for a few years and on the advice of a friend I bought this DVD for my wife who was interested in getting in digital photgraphy. It brought her up to speed on the bascis of how the cameras work and how to use them very quickly, plus I've found a couple of tips to be very helpful in my photography. I would recomend this DVD to anybody getting into digital photography or who has been shooting for a while.

Whether or not you own a digital camera, this DVD will put you on the right track to getting the most out of this amazing technology.

I've owned a 35mm Canon (actually two) since I was 16. Yikes, that's 20 years now. When the lens on my EOS Rebel broke last summer I bought a Nikon 995 instead. I can honestly say I've shot more photos since the Nikon purchase than in the prior 19 years.

I spent hours if not days deciding which camera was right for me; and weeks figuring out how to get the most out of it from the manual, books and websites. I wish this DVD was available last summer because it's all here. And the quick tips section has already improved my 'eye'. In fact, if the producer is reading this... how 'bout a DVD of just tips... please.

The quality is great. The information relevant, and way more 'readable' than most books. As a volume 1, I'd recommend this to anyone who's new to the digital side of photography, and curious about what makes it different (and in my opinion better). Then again, the tips on composition alone were worth the 30 bucks. Bring on volume 2.
