GTO Collection Vol. 1 - 7 (Amazon.com Exclusive)

Sweet just sweet
GTO is a hilarious series centered around a young teacher who attempts to turn around a nightmare class at a middle school. I hate giving away too much in reviews because that could spoil the story for some of you, but this series in a way reminded me of a tamed series of Goldenboy. It's jam packed with comedy, has some good drama, and you must try a few episodes before judging this anime. 5 stars all the way.

Put Away The Crack...Here's Your New Addiction
It may not quite hang with its bigger, badder, shoot-em-up, slash-em-to-pieces, giant robot anime bretheren, but when it's all said and done, Great Teacher Onizuka may end up being the most addictive anime series ever.

The plot is simple enough: Eikichi Onizuka, a former bike gang member, college karate champ, 22 years old and a bachelor, has taken it upon himself to be the world's greatest teacher. with little or no qualifications, he somehow gets accepted into a prestigious school, is assigned the worst class of delinquents ever, and proceeds to work on taming the adolescent beasts.

Simple plot, complex protagonist. Onizuka is the definition of "man-child," the battle with the man and the child within him always in conflict. This is key as the series plays up the ongoing battle between the students and adults, be it teachers, administrators, parents or politicians. Onizuka is into videogames, internet porn, costumes, launching bottle rockets and ogling schoolgirls. At the same time he has a better sensitivity toward the real causes of the students problems, be it parental conflict, bad past experiences with teachers, money or bullying. Then again, he likes to deal with his problems in the most unorthodox methods, i.e. beating up students.

Just like standard fighting animes, Onizuka has to deal with various opponent-students during the course of the series. Bully Aizawa Miyabi, teacher-humiliator Urumi Kanzaki, super-smart Kikuchi, and fierce Kunio Murai, as well as the various teachers and administrators, particularly vice-principal Uchiyamada.

The art is on a par with Dragonball Z, and watching this series in Japanese is *necessary*! Not only are their numerous word jokes (that a student is suffering a trauma, pronounced "tora-uma" evokes an image of a giant tiger-horse animal in Onizuka's mind), or that the English teacher struggles with and forces English, the story has pretty significant differences from the English to the Japanese version. The Japanese vocal cast is far superior, and the vocal intonations better match the facial expressions; the storyline and what they say are far more risque and naughtier than the English dub as well.

This is an odd DVD collection to stop at Vol. 7. The series is a 43-episode set, so at a clip of four to five episodes a disc, there should only be about three to four volumes upcoming, max. Also, Vol. 7 ends on the biggest cliffhanger in the series yet (Onizuka always faces the threat of losing his job each time, but this one is huge), and Volumes 8 and 9 provide the closure to that series as well as the start of a different phase.

However, you'll get the all important first volume, where Onizuka's teaching tactics first develop, before joining Holy Forest Academy. There's also Vol. 4, "The Test," which is by far the best of the series, involving numerous storylines, and introducing Urumi Kanzaki. That Vol. 4 was so good probably explains why Vol. 5 feels like it drags along, and makes it the weakest one of the series.

The extras are nothing more than character sketches, previews, montages, and an interview with the creator in Japanese.

A great series that makes commentary on a real life societal situation in Japan, with the paranoia of students toward adults, that is much more accentuated than here in the states. Also recommended are the Live Action GTO TV Drama Series (for which the final episode was the most watched ever in Japan) which follows the anime and manga storylines loosely (characters are made into composites, and Onizuka is more real-lifey), as well as the GTO live action movie that takes place after the live action series.

Highly recommended series, but waiting for the US releases to complete and to arrive in boxed-set form would be better.

Horror Special Edition DVD Collection (Carrie (1976) / The Fog / The Howling)

3 GREAT DVDS!
These are some awsome movies! In the set is Carrie, The Fog and The Howling. These are all special edition. The brand new copy of the Howling is in the set! For those who are looking for something gory and creepy with great acting this is a great buy!

3 Essential Dvd's for any 'True' Horror Fan.....
These three films are definitive in the genre of horror, and have been borrowed from, and copied, inferiorly I might add, but as they say,you can't replace an original. All three of these films truly create the necessary 'mood' for horror, no lame jokes, no moments of levity, just that creepy feeling in the pit of your stomach. Watch these late at night, lights off, with your favorite girl or guy, and get ready to have the blood squeezed out of your arm, when they're terrified to death. 'The Howling' is probably the best werewolf film I've ever seen, next to 'American Werewolf in London'...unfortunately the Howling sequels are laughable, inferior trash. 'The Fog' directed by renound horror film meister, John Carpenter, follows a band of ghost pirates, who appear on the hundredth aniversary of their deaths to exact a little revenge on a small, sleepy town by the ocean. Right before they appear, the intended victim is surrounded by a dense fog, it's usually the last thing they see before the creatures make quick work of them. 'Carrie,' well if you haven't seen 'Carrie' then you're not from this planet. The re-make was okay, but nowhere near the original with John Travolta and Sissy Spacek. This film holds up well to moden times, although you may get a laugh from the horrendous clothing and dialogue of the times. What's unusual about this set, is that all there films are landmark horror films. Usually two are good, and one's lousy in these box sets, but not here.

Cheesy Sci Fi at it's best
The transfer on this DVD could be better, but for the price I couldn't complain. My favorite movie on this dvd is "Teenagers from Outer Space" The acting is horrible and the dialogue simply ridiculous. Cheesy sci fi fans will love this film for the corny special effects, the "Gargon" as they are called is a giant lobster and very poorly done, but it's a hoot, guaranteed to make you laugh.
"Phantom from Space" is actually a pretty good movie, the special effects are not bad for it's time, and the movie will hold your interest, it's an okay storyline. I really enjoyed it and if you are a die hard 50's sci fi fan this is a must have!!
"Killers from Space" has got to be among one of the lowest budget movies ever made. The space men are just great! Men dressed in a one piece hooded suit with ping pong balls cut in half for their eyes. Wow! scary! Plus you get to see them in the "special" green effect! I liked this movie because I like REALLY bad cheesy sci fi.
This dvd also includes 2 bonus features, a Popeye cartoon and a Ray Milland radio broadcast "Night Cry".

A Must-Have DVD From Space.
Phantom From Space is a decent movie for genre fans, sort of an "Invisible Man From Planet X" amalgamation, cheap but intriguing. Killers From Space is not very good at all, managing to be at once ridiculous and rather dull. Both of these are directed by W. Lee Wilder (Billy Wilder's less-successful brother).

On to Teenagers From Outer Space... Sometimes called one of the worst movies ever made, it has received that moniker unfairly. Sure, it is laughable in spots- an alien named Derek, a giant monster which is naught but a lobster shadow, truly wooden performances, and sometimes-hideous dialogue- but be honest as you watch this. You've seen much worse.

This movie is just plain entertaining. The pace is lightning-quick; that alone separates it from a myriad of similar 50's sci-fi efforts. It is better-directed than many films of its ilk, and the story has definite thought behind it, meager as its execution may be. The plot may seem redundant at times, but that was to me in keeping with the suspense of serials from the 30's and 40's. The FX are not that much worse than, say, the CGI on Babylon 5's early episodes, and the story is no more stupid than anything from the Bay/Bruckheimer team. And you know the movie means business when the first thing the aliens do upon landing is skeletonize a dog. Now that's evil!

It is a very earnest movie with a message that, while self-conscious and a tad overinflated, is unduly lampooned in these cynical times. There is camp (valiant misfires, entertaining and good-spirited) and there is dreck (exploitative crap by people who know they are making crap and wouldn't have it any other way). Give me camp any day.

Teenagers From Outer Space is not a good movie, but it is a very fun movie, one to watch again and again. I enjoyed it, and to say so does not make me feel ashamed ... much.

P.S. The transfer is pretty good; not as good as the Wade Williams collection from Image, but definitely worth the price.

Macgillivray Freeman Films - The Big Picture Collection (Large Format)
Released in DVD by Image Entertainment (31 October, 2000)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Starring: Big Picture Collection
This The Big Picture Box contains five IMAX documentaries:

The Discoverers
Originally filmed in IMAX format, The Discoverers features some astoundingly spectacular footage all centering around the act of discovery. The story of the great navigator Ferdinand Magellan's search for a passage to the Pacific is presented with film of spectacular sunsets and scenery, and a visit to a re-creation of Sir Isaac Newton's laboratory while he refracts light with lamps and prisms is equally beautiful. The various vignettes, which range from a child and her father discovering paintings of bison painted on cave ceilings thousands of years ago to a scientist on a team analyzing data sent back from a probe sent to the planet Venus, don't proceed in a linear path. But that's the whole idea. The production was inspired by the Pulitzer Prize-winning book The Discoverers by Daniel J. Boorstin, and the goal was to put the viewer alongside those who explore the unknown as they experience the joyous moments of discovery. There is some serious science presented in the course of the film, but fear not, it's all done in a highly entertaining manner. Simply sit back and immerse yourself in the utterly gorgeous cinematography. --Robert J. McNamara

The Living Sea
The films from IMAX have come to be known for their cutting-edge cinematography. They don't disappoint with The Living Sea, an Academy Award-nominated documentary exploring exotic marine locales. Using dizzying aerial and time-lapse footage, they provide underwater imagery usually accessible only while wearing fins and a mask. From heavy-surf Coast Guard drills off the coast of Oregon to jellyfish in Palau to North Atlantic humpback whales, veteran IMAX cameraman and director Greg MacGillivray takes viewers on a vivid journey into some of the world's most breathtaking environments and shows us some of the rarest and strangest marine life. Ten years from conception to finished product, this documentary's intended message is the importance of protecting the "world ocean" by displaying its wild beauty and diversity.

The Living Sea does an excellent job of showcasing the more visually satisfying aspects of the sea (standout footage includes schools of jellyfish performing a graceful migratory dance and a giant cuttlefish changing brilliant colors for the purpose of camouflage), although ultimately it fails to shed much light on the hows, whys, and urgency of marine conservation. However, despite the short running time (unfortunately characteristic of IMAX productions) and a soundtrack that only true Sting fans will fully appreciate, this film proves to be a remarkable treat for the eyes and is sure to elicit heartfelt oohs and aahs from anyone who loves the sea. --Ed Noble

Dolphins
Believe it or not, an IMAX film can make the transition to video perfectly well. It might not be three stories tall, but Dolphins is still a lovely, larger-than-life exploration of these strangely intelligent creatures. Visit the Bahamas, Argentina, and beyond to see different varieties (like the graceful duskies) play and hunt. Pierce Brosnan's narration and Sting's music fill the water with sound and add counterpoint to the dolphin's shrill cries; the film is an overwhelming experience even in the living room. Two short features follow the main attraction: see behind-the-scenes footage of the making of Dolphins as the enormous IMAX camera follows the sleek, gorgeous beasts, and learn some hard facts about marine science including how dolphins fit into their complex environment and why their numbers are at risk. Few nature films bear repeat viewing as well as this one--new details leap out at the audience each time. --Rob Lightner

Magic of Flight
Fly with the U.S. Navy's elite Blue Angels demonstration squadron in the breathtaking documentary The Magic of Flight, which explains the basic principles of what enables airplanes (and birds) to fly, what creates lift, how planes maneuver, how planes land again. Going back to the Wright Brothers' experiments at Kitty Hawk, the documentary explores how the intrepid bicycle makers ruminated on the elements of flight for many an hour before even attempting to assemble their first aircraft. The Blue Angels put into action the discoveries made by the Wright Brothers, as they make their selections, train, and perform.

Pilots push their high-performance fighter planes through difficult but graceful maneuvers for amazed audiences, demonstrating where the state of the art really lies for 21st-century flying. For all the skills of the pilots, however, the most astonishing part of the video would have to be the camera work, with cameras mounted on the planes' bellies, noses, and cockpits to give an up-close view of what the machines are really capable of doing. Planes fly an arm's length apart during maneuvers where the slightest misstep would mean certain catastrophe. The Magic of Flight does indeed go a long way toward capturing the wonder of flying, with spectacular camera work, editing, and production. --Jerry Renshaw

Stormchasers
The power of tornadoes, hurricanes, hailstorms, and other severe weather serve as a reminder that, despite technological advances, there are elements of nature that still have us at their mercy. Stormchasers follows the meteorologists who put their lives in danger to chart and research severe storms. Scientists drive hundreds of miles per day to chase down tornadoes in the Midwest, lingering until the last possible second when they actually encounter a twister. Weather Service personnel send an airplane through the middle of Hurricane Emily, with everything that can be shaken loose inside the plane tethered down for the rough ride. The "making of" segment of Stormchasers documents the crew's hair-raising experiences as they placed themselves directly in the path of danger and doubted their own sanity for doing so. Interestingly, the filmmakers were forced to manufacture a monsoon when shooting in India; the results were convincing indeed. Originally shot in large format for IMAX theaters, Stormchasers gives the formation of menacing storms a beautifully lyrical quality and goes a long way toward explaining the weather phenomena that shape our lives. --Jerry Renshaw

This is Why I have a Home Theater System...
IMAX quality at its very best! These five masterpieces directed by MacGillivray are beautifully done documentaries that the whole family will certainly enjoy. The collection of DOLPHINS, THE LIVING SEA, THE MAGIC OF FLIGHT, STORMCHASERS, and THE DISCOVERERS provides something for everyone. If you enjoy nature, life and technology, you will love them all. Just as fabulous as each feature, each disc includes 'The Making of...' sequence that is as captivating than the feature itself! The many hours of filming to get the perfect shots are evident form the behind the scenes action. Many of the feature shots required technologic advances that had to be developed to capture the images. The commentary by Greg MacGillivray is both humorous and interesting. Other extras only add to the family value of this collection. I viewed this series on a 36 inch Sony 'WEGA' TV using the Onkyo DR-S2.0 DVD Receiver. DTS and Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound are both available on these discs. I have tried both and recommend the same, as there are differences in the audio. I have no particular preference as both are superior. The audio is simply spectacular with narrators like Selleck, Streep, Brosnan, and Holbrook. Especially spectacular is the music in The Living Sea that was provided by Sting. The music is worth playing alone!! The picture is 4:3 format with little artifact from the original film. While never being able to reproduce the Imax scale, these crisp, detailed images have more resoultion than you home screen can handle. A superior collection of extraordinary documentaries with many extras. Toddlers, teens, and adults will enjoy watching these discs and certainly these will be a treat on your home theater system.

imax and dvd: AWESOME
Wow, this dvd is one of the greatest. I've always enjoyed imax movies and now i can watch them whenever i want on dvd. This dvd has five movies on it;"The Living Sea," "The Discoverers," "Stormchasers," "The Magic of Flight," and "Dolphins: The Ride." All of these movies are great, but my favorites are "The Living Sea," and "dolphins:the ride" The first, "the living seas" takes you on a tour through the ocean. Through stunning pictures and breath taking sound it shows you the world of those creatures that live under the sea. This movie is a true great, and one of the best imax films. My next favorite is "stormchasers" this movie takes you to the great plains and shows you the twister. It follows groups of ordinary people doing unordinary things, chasing tornados. And finally my last favorite is "dolpins: the ride" Ive always loved dolpins, but imax and the voice of pierce brosnan help make this documentary a true master piece. I highly recommend this dvd. It is truly wonderful and a great addition to your dvd collection.

Mondo Cane Collection - Limited Edition (Mondo Cane / Women of the World / Mondo Cane 2 / Africa Addio - English Version / Africa Addio - Directors' Cut / Goodbye Uncle Tom - English Version / Addio Zio Tom - Director's Cut / The Godfathers of Mondo
Released in DVD by Blue Underground (28 October, 2003)
MPAA Rating: Unrated
Directors: Gualtiero Jacopetti, Franco Prosperi, Paolo Cavara, and David Gregory
Gualtiero Jacopetti and Franco Prosperi are widely considered to be the creators of the "mondo," the cynical and often exploitative '60s-era cousin of the documentary and the template for today's reality TV. Blue Underground compiles five of the pair's most controversial films in an eight-disc set (which includes uncut versions of two titles) that proves their images have not lost their power to shock and amaze. Journalist-turned-director Jacopetti and former naturalist Prosperi first teamed for 1962's Mondo Cane (A Dog's Life), which explored strange customs around the world. The film (co-directed with Paolo Cavera) balanced its humorous and repulsive images with some genuinely beautiful ones and captured audiences' imaginations worldwide as well as an Academy Award for composer Riz Ortolani's theme, "More." Many critics decried the film, but a fleet of copycat mondos appeared in its wake. Enough footage was shot during the making of Mondo Cane to allow for a sequel (also known as Mondo Pazzo) in 1963; it was quickly followed by Women of the World, which explored women's roles around the globe.

Tiring of the travelogue approach, the pair headed to Africa to document the unrest that had erupted in the wake of colonial abandonment. The result, 1966's Africa Addio, was acclaimed for its disturbing images but also earned the duo charges that they had orchestrated on-screen executions. Though they were eventually acquitted, Jacopetti and Prosperi's reputations was irreparably marred. They attempted to amend the situation with Goodbye Uncle Tom (1971), an overripe fantasy that transported them to the pre-Civil War South to explore slavery. Unfortunately, its horrific violence further turned off audiences, and the duo split soon afterwards. Though the early titles are somewhat dated, and the later films are often overwhelmingly grotesque, the Mondo Cane Collection is a powerful visual experience that avoid the sheer exploitativeness of other mondo and their modern offspring. --Paul Gaita

Average review score:

Excellent BoxSet from Blue Underground!!!
There is no denying the importance of the films of Gualtiero Jacopetti and Franco Prosperi as they have influenced everything from hardcore horror films ie Cannibal Holocaust to broadcast news and the reality TV craze of today. Blue Underground in an ambitious move have put out this great 8 disc box set (limited to 10,000 copies) which should more than satisfy any mondo fan.

The first two discs are Mondo Cane and Mondo Cane 2. Mondo Cane is certainly a milestone and in fact this entire genre of "shocking documentaries" which where made by Euro filmmakers is better known as the 'mondo' genre. Essentially Mondo Cane is a strange journey into some of the more bizarre and macabre places with the camera voyeuristically witnessing all kinds of oddities and bringing them back for the curious viewer. Mondo Cane 2 continues this tradition. The third disc Women of the World is similar but all the footage is tied together by a common theme of the varied roles women play in different parts of the world.

The next 2 discs are the cut English language version of Africa Addio and the Italian language uncut version. Considered by many to be the greatest mondo doco of all time, the crew head of into Africa during it's transition from colonial control. While the majority of this focuses on the interactions of white and black and some long sequences on the fate of wildlife with laws protecting them diminished (countless animals are gunned down and speared in these scenes and hippos are dismembered) what sets this apart is the aftermath of several massacres caught on film. Later the crew hook up with a group of mercenaries (these nuts look as though they just walked of col. Kurtz's compound in 'Apocalypse Now') and go on a mission, filming a couple of executions.

After the English language print was recut to exclude much political commentary and the censored version was released the film makers came under fire and accused of exploitation, racism and some even called them murders (accusing them of paying for the executions). Being labeled racists must have really angered Jacopetti and Prosperi resulting in them making Addio Zio Tom (Goodbye Uncle Tom) in order to prove that they are not racist.

The next 2 discs are Goodbye Uncle Tom in the cut English version and Italian Language directors cut (this disc alone in worth the price of the set). The butchered English version done little to mend their reputations as in order to have it released alternate versions of scenes were shot and some extreme (but easily justified) politics were omitted. In essence it became a different movie.

The director's cut of Goodbye Uncle Tom is one of the most amazing films I have ever seen. While some scenes are mondo filmed modern 70's events in America, the majority of this film is a departure of the mondo formula as they have made a regular motion picture with actors and sets under the pretense of them traveling back in time to shoot a mondo doco on the slave trade in America pre civil war. All these scenes are set up based on factual accounts and are unsparingly brutal and authentic, literally using 1000s of extras. The sweeping photography and epic scale of this film as we are taken into various aspects of slavery make for a simply breathtaking motion picture experience.

Some people have claimed these scenes are a false representation, by pointing out silly little things like "there probably wouldn't be so many slaves in the house" and "they wouldn't be allowed to jump on the bed like that" as well as others who are infuriated by this film claiming that "it was never as depraved as this" but once again this film is clearly well researched quoting writers of the time and besides how could any people who kept slaves not be "depraved" anyway? Gone With the Wind this certainly is not. Roots, while well made and genuinely heartfelt, is pure sacarine by comparison. Steven Speilberg made the typically cowardly film 'Amistaad'. How can this courtroom drama depicting Europeans as being cruel to slaves and Americans liberating them via the righteous legal system be hailed as "tackling slavery head on" when it completely ignores the 200 years of slavery in America? Goodbye Uncle Tom is clearly a one of a kind spectacle and in my humble opinion the best disc in the set.

The final disc is a doco on the filmmakers themselves, rounding out what is an awesome boxset!

Super-Mondo Collection!
When MONDO CANE first came out it was the "adults only" film every kid like me wanted to see. Needless to say, what was considered shocking and adult in the 60s all seems rather quaint in retrospect. Yet, it's a short distance from the Mondo craze of yore to the "shocking reality TV" we are saddled with today. With all that in mind, I ordered the Mondo Collection and figured $127 was a small price to pay for a little trip down memory lane. To my surprise and delight, the 8-disc set is a primo package. (Think Criterion Collection in terms of quality and restoration but from a company called Blue Underground.) All the shockumentaries are in the package, not to mention "The Godfathers of Mondo" documentary about the guys---the trailblazers---who gave us these films. Soon every schlock filmmaker would crank out a Mondo-this and Mondo-that shockumentary, hoping to out-Mondo everybody else. But, again, this collection gives us the real thing from the guys who put the word Mondo on the map. And, lest we forget, every time we hear a lounge singer do "More," we'll fondly think back to its origin: Mondo Cane. Buy this set and enjoy!

Pavarotti & Friends Collection

Starring: Luciano Pavarotti

Fantastic
This is fantastic; Probably the greatest Tenor of all times with a who's who of superstars from the world over. Its hours of great entertainment, at a great price. Buy it, you won't be sorry!

Pavarotti goes Pop (for a noble reason)
Our world is a difficult place to live, out there are a lot of countries with endless wars and endless hungied kids.

After 1992, Lucciano Pavarotti conceived a noble idea: "What if many artist around the world would reunited to make a great event and all the earnings of the events goes directly to those people that need help?","What is we make this event every year with diferent artists and singers?" , that's how "Pavarotti & Friends" became a reality.

No, this is not an opera compilation from Pavarotti, in this collection you can enjoy artists like U2, Simon Le Bon (Duran Duran), Michael Bolton, Dolores O'Riordan (Cranberries), Ricky Martin, Brian Adams, and a long etcetera making their best, and bringing their greatest hits; also, you can enjoy ensembles like Simon Le Bon and Lucciano Pavarotti singing together "Ordinary World", or Dolores O'Riordan and Simon singing together "Linger", or what do you think about Pavarotti, Bryan Adams and Andrea Boccelli singing "All for love"?, if that something that doesn't attract your attention, i don't know any other thing that will do it.

And last, but far from least, some of the expense that you make in these great dvd's is going to help a lot of people that desperatelly need help.

BOOM Destruction! This Is Great!!!
Project Ako Is a great great Series! And THe soundtrack is addicting! Ok now lets start from the beginning

The first DVD Project Ako (the Movie) starts with Ako and Cko transferring to Gravition High (i probably didn't spell that right) And of course they are running late. So here is where you see Ako's "super human powers" Anyway so then they go and you meet Bko (there must be some hidden meaning behind the names hmm. .) Who is somehow attracted to Cko. And wants her for herself. Yea weird I know but it makes a great destructive plot. So Bko thinks up all these machines that are suppose to "destroy" Ako so she can take Cko. Well all her plans fail . . . . so shes still mad and wants Cko so she builds a suit for herself that boosts her fighting ability (since shes a weak smartkid) so she challenges Ako to a fight to the death to win Cko. So they fight destroying parts of the school in the process (along with many pantie shots from Ako) in the meantime a alien fleet made up of Women, who mysteriously look like men, start to Invade earth in search of their "Princess" (can't tell ya who she is) so now earth is in chaos and Ako and Bko are making it worse. So then the "princess" ends up getting captured by the Alien women-who-look-like-men and now she has to be saved. so thats when more destruction and pantie shots end the movie. Such a wonder full DVD. I LOVE IT!!

Ok the Second DVD which is Love&Robots. NOT Uncivil Wars. Thats the last volume. The consists of 3 diffrent stories. WIth more destruction and occasionaly pantie shots. ^-^ anyway so within theses storys the Aliens are still trying to get back their "princess" but are stranded on Earth so their ship they made into a Amusement park/restraunt. And Bko is still trying to destroy Ako to get Cko. But Kei appears. A male figure that now Ako and Bko are fighting over. And Cko seems to be getting alittle jealous that Ako likes someone else. but you'll see how that turns out. THen in the "final" ep thing another Alien fleet comes to again retreive the "princess" and actually is taken away but this time not by force. Her friends devistated attempt to get her back but fail. You'll have to find out how that ends.

Now the Final DVD. Uncivil wars. It has NOTHING todo with the first 2 dvd's. ITs a totally difrent plot line. Ako and Bko work together as Bounty Hunters. and Cko is the daughter of some millionare. And is much younger then Ako and Bko (in the other 2 they were all the same age) So its Ckos birthday and she gets kidnapped. but on they way she the plan she flies in has some dificulties and she falls out and lands near Ako And Bkos house. and eats AKo's dinner. And she gets mad but Bko tells Ako not to hurt her. So The kidnappers come back and attempt to her Cko back. and are succesfull and in the process destroy Ako and Bko's house. So its seems like a Chase to get Cko. and Ako and Bko fall into something bigger then they though. Some really small space patrol guy comes nad tells them that they have to help him so they do. So they plot thickens and Cko is actually going to be used as a host for some summoning. So now Ako and Bko must get Cko back to save the entire universe Whoa intense. YOu NEED to check it out its a must!!

Well if thats not enough proof for you I don't know what is. Its just a great serise. Add it to your collection!

GREAT!
This is one of the classic anime short series of all time. This anime influenced many others that were to come. I only know of one thing though, the sailor uniforms the girls wear.

This 3 dvd series does not relate to one another. In the first dvd (project A-ko movie), they introduce the 3 main characters, A-ko, B-ko, and C-ko. Don't ask why their names are the way they are, it's just like that. A-ko is an amazing young red-head who has superhuman strength, B-ko her rival is a normal girl but SUPER-SMART!, and C-ko... well, she just whines, nothing special about her. They all go to the same school in Graviton city (i hope i spelt that correctly) The weird thing is that A-ko and B-ko fight over who will be C-ko's bestfriend. I believe the creator's intentions were to have them all want to be C-ko's "bestfriend" but, it may seem that they want just MORE than friendship. Well, A-ko is currently C-ko's best friend and B-ko is doing everything in her power to destroy A-ko. During their conflicts there is this alien ship run by women (who look like men... really funny) who have been traveling the galaxy looking for their long lost princess. They find out that she lives on Earth. They try to convince her to join them and go back home, but she refuses (won't tell you who it is ^.~). They alien ship ends up getting into a fight with Earth and they end up busting up their ship and can't go no where. So they decide to live on Earth (graviton city).

The second dvd (uncivil wars), is totally different from the movie. A-ko and B-ko are friends and work together as some sort of alien hunters. C-ko is the daughter of some rich dude who is younger than A-ko and B-ko (in the movie they were all the same age). Well C-ko gets kidnapped for ransom and ends up escaping from her captors and run into A-ko and B-ko. There, A-ko and B-ko try to help her (just because they want a reward for rescuing her) but of course, her captors want that ransom so they go after C-ko. A-ko and B-ko find out that these kidnappers aren't just interested in money, they want to get to the center of the universe and create some sort of armageddon. They wanted the universe to be reborn... weirdos really. Well, A-ko and B-ko can't let that happen, so they go in and do something of course! you have to watch to see how it ends.

The third dvd (love & Robots) is more closely related to the movie. In this one, we meet B-ko's father who is interested in getting his hands on that alien ship that crashed in graviton city (happened in the movie). They had changed the alien ship into a amusement park/other entertainment, but during this whole time, the alien women have been fixing their ship so they can leave. But they won't leave alone, their going to take their princess with them. Also, B-ko and A-ko fall in love with the same guy but he is engaged to their teacher, so what do they do??? they go out and stop the wedding and piss off their teacher! the weird thing i don't understand is, the dude is in love with that whiny girl C-ko (she ends up rejecting him and breaking his heart). Well, because the alien women failed to bring back their princess, the queen herself came to visit graviton city and get her daughter. That is all i can say... i'm afraid i'll give away too much if i go any further.

I don't know if this helped at all, it might not have (sorry i'm not a good story-teller). Don't judge the storyline and think it is not worth the money, this is really a great story. It may sound boring, but it really isn't (you really have to watch it to understand). This is truly a unique and hilarious anime.

I'm very picky about the types of anime i watch, sometimes i judge by the art, Project A-ko doesn't have the best art (graphics), remember this was made in the 80's. The story makes up for that also the soundtrack! This anime has one of the best soundtracks i've ever heard for an oldie.

If you still confused, maybe i can give you an idea of the types of anime i like, if you like any of these, you will love project a-ko series.
Vision of Escaflowne, Chobits, Fruits Basket, Fushigi Yuugi, Card Captor Sakura, Flame of Recca, Love Hina, Ranma 1/2, Ayashi no Ceres, I My Me! Strawberry Eggs, Slayers (<-- if you like this series then project a-ko is a must!), Magic Knight Rayearth, Inu Yasha, and Tenchi muyo.

Sid Caesar Collection - Creating the Comedy
Released in DVD by Goldhil Home Media 2 (09 October, 2000)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Starring: Sid Collection Caesar and Sid Caesar
Live, from New York, on Saturday night, it's Your Show of Shows, the classic sketch-variety series from the golden age of live television. This is arguably the funniest volume in The Sid Caesar Collection. Try on The Fur Coat, a domestic sketch that is a perfect fit for Nannette Fabray as the wife who is star-crossed over an expensive fur coat, and Caesar, as her husband who tries to calculate how much her suspect passionate kiss is going to cost him. Caesar and Fabray conduct themselves brilliantly in the pantomimed Argument to Beethoven's 5th. From Here to Obscurity, a movie parody featured in the 1973 compilation film Ten from Your Show of Shows, is, to quote the siren hilariously embodied by Imogene Coca, "a funny one." The mock-Italian sketch The Cobbler's Daughter showcases Caesar and company's genius for dialects. Less successful, but still far out, is Caesar as jazzman Professor Hornsby. Linking these sketches are newly filmed interviews with the show's dream team of legendary writers and performers, including Neil Simon, Mel Brooks, Larry Gelbart, Woody Allen, Carl Reiner, Howard Morris, and Nanette Fabray, who share wonderful backstage stories and reminiscences of creating a live comedy show every week for 39 weeks a year. --Donald Liebenson

Here it is! The ENTIRE "From Here to Obscurity" Sketch!
This third volume in the Sid Caesar Collection continues to preserve the work of the most talented performer of the live television era. Aided and abetted by the terrific ensemble cast of Imogene Coca, Carl Reiner and Howard Morris, Caesar put together two of the funniest shows of Television's Golden Age, "Your Show of Shows" and "Caesar's Hour." "Creating the Comedy" includes the immortal sketch "From Here to Obscurity," as well as "The Cobbler's Daughter" and "Argument to Beethoven's 5th." You will also find the "Commuters" in "The Fur Coat" and Progress Hornsby in "People to People." These sketches, personally selected by Caesar, have been digitally remastered from the original kinescopes and you have the added joy of having the cast members and writers introducing the sketches. Milton Berle was Mr. Television, but Sid Caesar was Mr. Comedy. I have waited decades for these treasures to be available, my appetite whetted by seeing that infamous "From Here to Obscurity" clip of Sid and Imogene getting hit by all that water. Now I have actually seen the entire sketch!

Why Caesar Ruled
"Creating The Comedy" from the Sid Caesar Collection is a must see video for fans of TV or comedy. It's an excellent introduction to the early days of TV for younger genertions. This video takes one through a week of creating a 1 1/2 hour live TV program. It's just not done like this anymore. For older generations, this video is a great reminder of how good TV could really be. Caesar's comedy and programs were literate, inventive, funny, and just great fun. In the "Fur Coat" sketch one had the opportunity to see a remarkable bit of live TV with a three minute closeup of Sid's face as he listens to his wife and furiously blinks his eyes in horror and cries. By the end of the bit real tears and sweat are coursing down his face. You'll not likely see that again. The "Beethoven" (sic) skit is awesomely clever and inventive. A classic you'll never see duplicated in today's dumbed-down world. And for movie fans, there is a great parody of "From Here To Eternity" with its romantic beach scene, except Sid is Burt Lancaster and Imogene Coca is Deborah Kerr, and instead of gentle Pacific waves, buckets of water are being tossed at the beached lovers. In addition to the wonderful comedy, the video contains priceless comments from the writers of this material. Neil Simon, Woody Allen, Carl Reiner and a host of other writers detail how a script was developed over the course of a week, and how specific bits were added to the final creation. This video is both a joy to watch and to listen.
