This Movie is one of the best I've seen in a while. Jami Gertz who plays Kat is absolutely stunning and gives a knock out performance as the wild friend from college (to put it mildly). Sybil Temchen plays the well to do and very put together Allison Cole. Kat is a nymphomaniac and Allie is too scared to entirely act on her impulses. The movie has hints of comedy, drama, and suspense but I'm not sure exactly which category it should be put in. All in all, it is a great movie with a few unexpected twists. I highly recommend this movie to everyone (over the age of 17).

What can i say. Its a movie thats meant to be a bit suspensful and it is. Its also quite hilarious. Alie is quite well off, and runs her own company selling artsy furniture that she puts off as her own designs. Her most successful piece being a rosebud chair. Only thing is Alie really didnt make that chair. Her best friend Kat made that chair. Well, Kat comes in for a visit. See Kats not like Alie, atleast not anymore. Kats still the same as she was in art school. She sleeps around alot, drinks alot and basically does everything alot. Shes a dred head bohemian wild child and Alies, well, not. Kats a sweetheart and Alie knows that, but when Kat finds out that Alie has used her gift to get ritch off of while Alie was selling herself to make money for dinner she is less than thrilled. She then proceeds to slowly destroy Alies success. Its not a thriller. Its not a drama. Its not a comedy. Its a movie about honesty, rules in love, and of all things, its a movie about friendship and finding the root of it and whats worth fighting for. This movie is not risque, which the cover makes it appear that way. Its a fun movie. I definatly recomend it. Its also set the the sounds of Ani Difranco which is a definate plus in my book. She fits the film.

Little House on the Prairie (Christmas at Plum Creek / The Creeper of Walnut Grove)
Released in DVD by Goodtimes Home Video (01 March, 2001)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Directors: Lewis Allen, Leo Penn, William F. Claxton, Alf Kjellin, Victor Lobl, Victor French, Michael Landon, Joseph Pevney, Maury Dexter, and Michael Ray Rhodes
Now that the series that dusted off late-19th-century American prairie life for 1970s viewers has itself been dusted off, keep your kerchief handy. The double feature of "Christmas at Plum Creek" and "The Creeper of Walnut Grove" succeeds, as executive producer Michael Landon and the warm, fuzzy behind-the-scenes folks so obviously intended, at stirring the sap within. "Plum Creek" carries the nostalgic back to the early seasons, when Laura was still a genuine half-pint, braids bobbing on either side of her head. Christmas is coming, and clan Ingalls is intent on surprising one another, their meager means notwithstanding. Secrets and bargain-driving abound, but in the main story line Ma wants a stove and Laura sells her most prized possession, pony Bunny, to nasty Nellie Olsen to buy it for her. When the magic morning arrives, her sacrifice is made bittersweet by Pa's gift of a saddle. "The Creeper" fast-forwards a few years and includes some familiar townspeople, bespectacled teacher Miss Beetle and Dr. Baker among them. Timothy, the town's top student and brightest prospect for a college scholarship to study medicine, turns amateur thief when his pa is laid up and no longer able to tend to the farm. He makes off with a pie, some jam and bread from the mercantile, and a hen in hopes of helping along his father's recovery, but junior sleuths Laura and Andy Garvey are hot on his trail. When the jig is up and Timothy confesses to Pa, the town's good folks come together to pitch in for the foundering family. That way, Timothy can accept the scholarship he's made Walnut Grove proud by winning. Both 46-minute episodes prove timeless--guaranteed to warm hearts and slake the thirst of anyone with a taste for sentimentality. --Tammy La Gorce

One From The Heart....One For Fun.....
This review refers to the Double Feature DVD(Goodtimes Video) of "Little House on the Prairie" Epsiodes "Christmas at Plum Creek" and "The Creeper of Walnut Grove"...

Goodtimes Video has made another great transfer of two vintage episodes from the Little House series. Although two very different stories, both will leave you smiling.

First up is a holiday classic episode. In "Christmas At Plum Creek",you'll feel the love as you may be reminded of "The Gift of the Magi". It is the first Christmas in Walnut Grove for the Ingalls family. Ma and Pa, Mary and Laura busy themselves trying to get just the right presents for each other. Their days are filled with joyous secrets, loving sacrifices, smiles and tears. Will Laura give up her beloved pony "Bunny" so Ma could have a stove? Even little Carrie will make your heart swell as she remembers the true meaning of the holiday.
This one includes the Olsen family....Harriet at her most Scroogelike self, Nels is affable as always, and mean ole Nellie!
And it's always a delight to see Mrs. Whipple make an appearance.

"The Creeper of Walnut Grove" is just plain fun. The youngins will love this one! Laura and Andy Garvey(a very young Patrick Laborteaux)form their own detective agency, when a serial thief is stealing food from the mouths of the good people of Walnut Grove. They set traps, which naturally backfire and leave poor Pa with green hair, Nellie and Wille covered in flour and Harriet,... well, lets just say you have to see this one for yourself! But Michael Landon is always sure to give us some poignant moments as well,... a young boy, studying to become the town's future Doctor cares for his proud father after a heart attack(try not to think about the fact that they fed him ham, eggs, and apple pie to restore his health..who knew about cholesteral back then anyway!)It's a fun episode, that includes the Garveys,Miss Beadle, and Reverend Alden who also provides us with a good chuckle in this one.

Each episode runs about 45 minutes, so at an hour and a half(no need to flip the disc, they are both on the same side) this is a pretty good deal. The picture is nice and clear, with good color(a bit dated), and the sound is pretty decent in Dolby Digital Mono. These episodes are from 1974 and 1977, and no matter how often I watch them, they still make me laugh and cry!

If you loved this series, you'll be happy to have this on DVD,to enjoy whenever the mood strikes.

Go get those Kleenex, you Know You'll need em and...Enjoy.....Laurie

Great DVD
Again, Little House on the Prairie is outstanding! My 1 year old even loves it. Its honest, clean humor viewing that teaches lessons everyone can take to heart.

A Little House Wedding
I always cry at weddings..and this one gets me every time!
In a double length feature, see the touching story of how Laura becomes Mrs. Alamanzo Wilder in "Laura Ingalls Wilder". Laura(Melissa Gilbert) and Almanzo(Dean Butler) are having trouble making ends meet, and Almanzo doesn't want to marry until he can provide for his bride to be. Meanwhile Almanzo's sister Eliza Jane(Lucy Lee Flippen)is also having romantic problems of
her own and makes a supreme sacrifice to see her brother and Laura happily married. Meanwhile...on the other side of town... Nellie and Percival just found out they are expecting!..Harriet is to be grandmother!!!

This episode guest stars a young James Cromwell and this one will really tug at your heartstrings! It was written and directed by Michael Landon and as always the music of David Rose is beautiful.

Goodtimes Video makes these classic TV episodes a pleasure to watch on DVD. They look and sound great. This episode is a really special one and runs the entire hour and half and without all the commercials. If you really love the Little House on the Prairie Series, I would suggest buying this one in the four pack that Goodtimes has out. It also includes "The Premier Movie", "The Lord Is My Shepherd"(both of these are also feature length) and "The Collection" guest starring Johnny and June Carter Cash.
I agree with the aother reviewer who said that it would be nice to have the prequel to this one as well(so we can watch the wonderful story of Laura and Almanzo getting engaged). How bout it Goodtimes?

Enjoy this very special episode...Laurie

"In six months, I'll be Laura Ingalls Wilder."
Of course, this is the timeless episode in which Laura and Almanzo are finally married. In addition to the final wedding scene, we also get some conflict between the would-be couple as Almanzo loses his first crop but stubbornly refuses to let Laura get a teaching job. (Watching the two insist that "I didn't do anything wrong" is a lot of fun.) Plus we have a snippet of subplot involving the news that Percival and Nellie are going to have their first baby (Harriet's misinterpretation of Nellie's having "six months at the most" is absolutely classic!). However, the whole show is quietly but earnestly stolen by Lucy Lee Flippin's portrayal of Eliza Jane Wilder, as she falls in love-for the first time-with a man who feels nothing in return. Probably no other non-regular ever turned in a performance quite so touching, or so convincing. Overall, owning "Laura Ingalls Wilder" is simply a must for any fan of the show. I only wish its prequel, "He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not," were also available!

Mission To Mir (IMAX)

Well done
This is a very well done space video. You actually see the rockets taking off and people up in space. Other videos get distracted and go off into computer simulations or random things only sort of related to space, but this one is focused on the real life good stuff.

NASA's Best IMAX Yet
This IMAX video takes you through the first flights and cooperative training that joined the US and Russia on MIR. It chronicles what US astronauts experienced in their training with the Russian cosmonauts in preparation for their experiences aboard MIR. Never before seen footage of Russian space sites and training along with footage of the first woman aboard MIR Shannon Lucid are included. This video gives you the history and work that led up to the eventual construction, launch and deployment of today's International Space Station.

Monday Night Mayhem
Released in DVD by Warner Home Video (02 September, 2003)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Director: Ernest R. Dickerson
Based on the book by Bill Carter and Marc Gunther, this immensely entertaining made-for-cable film tells it like it was in chronicling the golden age of Monday Night Football, a bold experiment in prime-time programming that transformed the pop-culture landscape. Carrying the ball for the lesser-known ensemble is John Turturro's Emmy-worthy performance as Howard Cosell, who played the role of "provocateur" in the then-revolutionary three-man booth that included in its heyday "Dandy" Don Meredith (Brad Beyer) and Frank Gifford (Kevin Anderson). John Heard gives a career-best performance as ABC producer Roone Arledge, who nurtured his brainchild and brilliantly massaged the egos of his stars. His prickly, more complex relationship with Cosell is the heart of this film. Rich with incident, Monday Night Mayhem spans from Muhammad Ali's controversial anti-Vietnam War stance and the blood-soaked 1972 Munich Olympics to John Lennon's death, which Cosell announced to a shocked nation. Also comic and compelling is the behind-the-scenes in-fighting and the colorful backstage characters. This film will score even with viewers who preferred watching Mayberry RFD on those Monday nights long ago. --Donald Liebenson

Brilliant behind-the-scenes drama!
I don't watch football. I could care less about football. The great thing is that you don't have to enjoy football at all to enjoy this immensely entertaining and brilliantly acted behind-the-scenes true-story. I would rank this up there with "Barbarians at the Gate" and "Reversal of Fortune" as one of the best docu-dramas ever made. John Turturro is spellbinding as Howard Cosell (much better in my opinion that Jon Voight's Oscar-nominated performance in the same role in "Ali"). If he doesn't get an Emmy for this, I'd be really disappointed. John Heard and Brad Beyer also turn in great perfomances as well. The writing really gets to the emotional depth of each character. Even if you hate football, you'll find a lot to like in this fascinating true story of battling egos, corporate politics and history-making moments.

Great fun and informative, too
Anyone who's addicted to Monday Night Football but doesn't know how the whole thing got started should see this movie. John Turturro gives a remarkable performance as Howard Cosell, who is both the most prominent and sympathetic character in the movie. Brad Beyer is pretty funny as Don Meredith, and John Heard draws the audience into his enthusiasm for MNF as Roone Arledge. There is plenty of archival football footage, and even the music goes along well with the action. I really enjoyed this movie; besides giving a good account of how MNF began, it satisfied my craving for anything NFL-related during the off-season.

Dudikoff really can act!
This is the only Dudikoff movie I like. He is convincing as the bumbling bounty hunter. The DVD sounds great especially in the action scenes...great snowmobile chase. And the fight scenes sounded real instead of the usual bad Hong Kong fight sounds. Funny and exciting...even my girlfriend liked it!

certainly one of Michael's better movies.
a different type of action movie that you would not usually see Michael Dudikoff in. the character he plays steers away from the 'martial arts superhero' stereotype and shows good acting abilities.

One of the best musically offerings of the year!!!!
I don't know why black folks sleep on Nicole. I have liked her stuff since the "mama say no" days! This DVD is GREAT!!!!!! Her energy is contagious, her signing angelic, her band top notch, and the DVD---ANOINTED! My daughter is begging me to move to Nachville so she can go to a "baby girls" club. (when you BUY the DVD you'll get it). You can't be into gospel or compt. Christian music and NOT pick this up! It is simply wonderful. Thanks Nicole!

Excellent
I was at the concert this was filmed at and this is a wonderful DVD to have of it. If you like nicoles music you will love this dvd. Her energy is awesome and she never misses a beat with all the dancing going on. 5 stars easy!

The Nightmare Room - Camp Nowhere

Don't Forget About This Gem......
A wonderful addition to any DVD collection. R.L. Stine, the man behind the "Goosebumps" legacy, has returned with this collection of tales from his "The Nightmare Room" series. This disc features four episodes from the television series. The episodes in question are "Camp Nowhere" (Parts 1 & 2), "Don't Forget Me" and "Full Moon Halloween." "Camp Nowhere" sees Russel, Dave, Erin, and Charlotte attend Camp Hawkwood. The campfire story depicts a ghost-camp. In a routine initiation the four experience the `story' first-hand. Will they escape alive? In "Don't Forget Me" a family moves into a new house. Danielle is left to look after her brother Peter when the parents go away. To make him a better brother, Danielle decides to hynotize Peter, who then begins to act strange. Does this have anything to do with the calls from the basement or is it a hynotization gone wrong? Lastly, in "Full Moon Halloween" a rumoured werewolf is attacking people. An invite to a surprise Halloween party for five friends soon turns into a game of `Who is the werewolf?' Will everybody pass, fail, or is it all a hoax? Each of the episodes are excellently scripted and are great stories. The episodes even feature familiar faces....faces such as Amanda Bynes (Big Fat Liar), Sam Jones III & Allison Mack (Smallville), Frankie Muniz (Malcolm In The Middle), Madeline Zima (The Nanny) + a few others. In term of the special features, they are quite excellent as well. Aside from trailers from other Warner Brothers titles, an an intervew with R.L. Stine entitled "The Nightmare Files," there is a bravery test of our darkest fears in "Do You Dare," and lastly a choose-your-own-adventure type of interactive game with "The Nightmare is Yours:Sink or Swim" where you decide your fate. I recommend that this disc be picked up because the stories and features are things that people of all ages would enjoy. So please don't forget to venture into "The Nightmare Room" or else "The Nightmare Room" will venture into you! :-)

Camp Nowhere
I watched Camp Nowhere once and I really like it alot, and the part that I really liked the most is when one kid was cutting down the tree and everybody else was running from the storm to get back inside, but the camp was gone, and the people who were there were gone forever.

On Cukor
Released in DVD by Winstar Home Entertainment (13 March, 2001)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Director: Robert Trachtenberg
George Cukor had a reputation as a "women's director," and appropriately, this 90-minute documentary opens with a montage of film clips featuring celebrated actresses. True, Cukor launched the careers of Katharine Hepburn, Angela Lansbury, and Shelley Winters. And the video is narrated by Jean Simmons, another actress he once directed. But the program goes on to explore the full range of Cukor's oeuvre, including clips not only from such blockbusters as My Fair Lady and A Star Is Born, but also from now-forgotten earlier works such as What Price Hollywood? Audio and video excerpts from interviews with Cukor are interspersed with the comments of actors, directors, and writers who worked with him or whom he influenced, including Lansbury, Claire Bloom, and Peter Bogdanovich. The documentary balances its examination of Cukor's directorial approach with glimpses at his private life, from his days of skipping school to go to the theater, to the "open secret" of his homosexuality. More than just a tribute, On Cukor reveals the man behind the camera of some of America's best-loved movies. --Larisa Lomacky Moore
Average review score:

ON CUKOR GREAT, BY GEORGE!
In a career that spanned four decades, George Cukor directed such influential and immortal films as Dinner At Eight, Camille, The Philadelphia Story, Gaslight, Adam's Rib, Born Yesterday, The Women, A Star is Born (the Garland-Mason version)  and My Fair Lady. This revealing documentary, narrated by Jean Simmons, relies on actual Cukor interviews---as well as interviews with his pals and peers, including Claire Bloom, Angela Lansbury, Jack Lennon, Shelley Winters, Mia Farrow and Peter Bogdanovich---and dozens of film clips to present a well-rounded, quite wonderful, portrait at the man who reinvented Hollywood. The DVD contains interview outtakes.

One of the American Masters
Another edition in the PBS seies, "American Masters is "On Cukor," a biography of George Cukor. There are interviews with many of the people who were directed by Cukor, and even excerpts from an interview with the man himself. A very good program.
