The Rising Place is a superb film
Yes, I love the Rising Place. I grew up with Tom Rice and he has always been talented. I am so excited over this movie and all that he will do in the future.

This is a must see!
I saw this movie at our film festival and it was superb. Everything from the directing, production, acting, and videography was simply awesome. It sold out about every night. We were fortunate to meet the director and some cast members and really look forward to seeing more productions by Tom Rice.

The Rising Place is wonderful!!
I loved watching "The Rising Place". It is very well-done, with great casting and scenery. I especially loved the music. I even bought the CD of the soundtrack! I look forward to seeing more from this director!

Sagwa - Sagwa's Storybook World
Released in DVD by Warner Home Video (28 January, 2003)
MPAA Rating:
A single DVD contains two full-length programs:
Cat Nights, Flights, and Delights
Inspired by prize-winning author Amy Tan's children's book, Sagwa, the Chinese Siamese Cat, this PBS offering features the adventures of the young Sagwa (approximately 8-years-old in human years) and her siblings, both in their Chinese palace home and on the streets of their city. "Firefly Nights" finds an "almost grown-up" Dong following Dad to see pyrotechnics the cats mistakenly take for glorious insects. Changing bad luck into good luck is the theme of "Fu-Fu's Full Moon Flight," in which a bat with poor echolocation saves Sagwa and his self-confidence. In "Shei-Hu's Secret," a trusting mouse shares his friends' hideaway with Sagwa, but her urge to brag puts them all in danger. Each 11-minute segment is followed by a minidocumentary on relevant topics like tai chi. PBS considers this a show for ages 5 to 8, but feline-loving preschoolers will enjoy it, too. --Kimberly Heinrichs

Feline Frenzy
Sagwa, her parents, her brother, and her sisters are expert calligraphers who serve the magistrate, but still find plenty of time for fun and adventure. In "Explorer's Club," Sagwa's brother Dongwa belongs to a Gamester's Club that refuses to include Sagwa in its membership. Sagwa forms her own Explorer's Club and excludes Dongwa, but a perilous situation soon necessitates that the rivals work together. In "Treasure Hunters," teamwork and quick thinking yield rich results, and in "Sick Day," Sagwa and Dongwa discover the joy of imagination and storytelling while the rest of the palace learns the power of cooperation. Brief interviews with children from around the world punctuate the episodes, offering a glimpse of a variety of cultures. Sagwa is a wholesome, entertaining series from PBS that encourages curiosity, cooperation, and an appreciation of different cultures. --Tami Horiuchi

This is one of the best DVDs ever!!!
I am 14 years old and I love Sagwa! Anyway, this DVD has some really good episodes and an interactive quiz! I would reccomend this DVD to any Sagwa fan!

Great Animation and Show
My child who is 12 believe it or not even enjoys this show (aimed for younger children). It has very cute kittens, FANTASTIC animation for children, morals, chinese culture, and adventure! I suggest any Sagwa product for children!

Enjoyable for Kids.
This is a good childrens show to watch. it teaches you many lessons while you follow Sagwa's many adventures. The show teaches you many Chinese traditions which I think is fantastic. If I were a parent this would be one childrens show I would have my kids watch. The DVD is great. You will enjoy the many adventures of Sagwa.

VeggieTales - The Toy That Saved Christmas
Released in DVD by Warner Home Video (29 October, 2002)
MPAA Rating: Unrated
Directors: Phil Vischer and Chris Olsen (II)
Average review score:

Great story for the kids
Starting in about October, we watch this at least once every day. Our 3 year old loves it and knows all of the songs. All of the veggie videos are great, but this one is a favorite.

A Christmas Must for Me
Christmas is coming, but the residents of Dinkletown aren't happy. They children are greedy, demanding more toys then all their friends. Mr. Nezzer isn't helping. He's designed a toy, Buzz-Saw Louie, which will help feed the greed and make him rich. But one of the Louies is convinced there's more to Christmas. He's joined by Larry, Bob, and Junior in his search for the truth. But, even if they find it, can they get the word out to others?

I was a little surprised last night while re-watching to discover just how much I love this Veggie Tales story. Sure, the animation could be better by today's standards. When you remember that this was released in 1996 on a small budget, it puts things in perspective. The story itself has the right combination of fun and surprises to be entertaining. And anything with "Oh, Santa," one of my favorite silly songs, can't be all bad.

Big Idea continues to do their DVD releases right. Mike and Phil do another interesting and entertaining commentary. There's also a behind the scenes feature that includes interviews from some of the other 10 staff members who worked on this. Just don't watch these two back to back as there are several stories that are repeated. I was also thrilled to get the extra animation they did for the showing on PAX. Unfortunately, this feature doesn't have chapter breaks, but I'm definitely glad to have the option of which way I want to watch this story each year.

I've been watching this video every Christmas for several years now. It's won me over and I intend to enjoy it for years to come. Get it today and share the true meaning of Christmas with your family.

Great Christmas show for the kids!
I bought this (on video) for my kids 3 years ago, and it remains a family favorite. It's a sweet story with a timely Christmas message that's not too preachy or heavy for little kids. My kids enjoy all the VeggieTales stories - the light-hearted, positive themes are great for reinforcing the values I want them to learn, and the silliness is the icing on the cake. I recommend this highly, though you may have to hide it after Christmas, or they'll watch it all year!

A Very Unlucky Leprechaun
Released in DVD by New Concorde Home En (04 February, 2003)

A True Gift
For me films like this one just don't come around as often as i'd like. It has just every thing I could wish for in a film like this I do so LOVE this film! My only regret is that I didn't see it when I was younger, when I first learned about leprechauns. Lucky is SO cute! After Molly meets him she has a dream where he is a very unlucky leprechaun, but when she awakens she finds that he really is lucky after all. And the music that is played over the beginning is just perfect for it. I heard music a lot like that played over the beginning of "Circle of Friends"

Excellent Children's Movie
My girls (ages 9 and 6) watched this movie for the first time and fell in love with it. We have watched it over and over again. There are alot of good messages in this movie and is very enlightening. I think it will go down as one of our classics that we will go back to watch time and time again.

Very Unlucky Leprechaun
This is a great childrens movie. It will make you laugh, how this Leprachaun brings bad luck, not good to a girl who has just moved to a small town, then come to find out, he does help her out. Buy this movie for your small children right here at amazon.com.

Why We Fight World War II - Prelude to War & The Nazis Strike
Released in DVD by Goodtimes Home Video (01 March, 2001)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Directors: Anatole Litvak and Frank Capra
Average review score:

Well Done!
I've found it's hard to review such a piece without turning Amazon into my own private forum.

This is a thought provoking piece. Especially knowing what we know now. I learned a couple historical facts that I never knew and gained further understanding about the atmosphere at the time of WWII. After viewing this I found myself talking about it with family and friends, opening the door for dibate on issues of involvement and non-involvement. At what point should you go to war? How far can you dibate an issue before it's too late? The thought process is almost dizzying. This film gives a possible view of what might have happened should action not have been taken. I highly recommend this as both a learning source and also as something to provoke you into thought.

I also want to bring to attention that this is 2 out of ? number of films by Frank Capra. This is also sold as a set that includes all of the collection. These two films have left me hungry to see the rest of his work. I myself will probably end up buying the collection and wanted to recommend you make the same consideration.

Well done!
As a german blooded american (three generations removed), I'm constanly in search for understanding. As I've visited german websites I've become increasingly irratated by the anit-american views.* I believe america is a county of good intention, not that our intentions always work out well but, we try. I would never wish another Vietnam tragedy.

Is there a time to fight? Do you believe in shunning? Do you take a non-partisan view? In our current situation we should be all asking ourselves these questions. Imagine a world without diplomacy... What a crazy place that would be. But, what do you do when diplomacy fails? What do you do if there isn't a cop on the beat to intervene?

This film gives an idea of what might have happened. With this in mind I applaud the English, Australians, New Zealanders and Indians for stepping up to the plate and getting involved as quickly as they did.

This film is great food for thought and I question whether it shouldn't be required viewing in schools.

For those in search of german pride, I highly recommend "The Rommel Papers". You will read a tragic story of a true german soldier and a very honorable man. We could have used him on our side.

* The anti-american views were viewed only on a couple websites and in no way implicate that germany as a whole shares such views.

This movie will make you want to kill Nazis.
The heck with _Triumph of the Will_, Capra's got the Nazis beat! The whole cavalcade of human suffering during the war, the "gangsterism" of the Facists, even the racist stereotyping of the Japanese are woven together to create a moving, inspirational, and compeling history of World War II before the US got into the fight. This is both great entertainment and important primary historical documentation. No wonder they still show it on TV. Watch with your family, your children, and don't forget to bring some tissues.

The Wizard of Oz: Rescue of the Emerald City
Released in DVD by Lions Gate Home Ente (23 April, 2002)

To Oz!!!
I have been an Oz fan for years and this DVD is great! The story is based on the 1990's cartoon show "The Wizard of Oz" aired on ABC, HBO, and Disney chanel. The Wicked Witch of the West returns and takes over the Emerald City and has stolen Scarecrows diploma, Lions metal, and Tin Mans heart.Dorothy and Toto return to Oz to help her friends and the Wizard who is still in his ballon to get back Oz. This DVD is definately one that should be aded to youre colection!!!!!!

YOU WILL BE OFF TO SEE THE WIZARD!!!
This is a WONDERFUL video it is a great movie for anybody! The Witch of the West comes back to life and tries to destroy Oz. Luckly Dorothy and her pals come to the rescue...but the Witch has stole the Scarecrow's diploma, Tin Man's heart, and the Lion's medal of courage. This cartoon comes from a great series made in 1990 and 1991. It was on TV on ABC, and then on HBO and Disney a few years later. It is to bad it isn't on TV anymore. I think this DVD is well worth buying.

YOU ARE OFF TO SEE THE WIZARD!!!
This is a great video, and very interesting. the characters are based on what they look like in the MGM Wizard of Oz movie. Dorothy still has her unforgetable Ruby Slippers. The Wicked Witch comes back to life and tries to take over the land of Oz. She steals the Scarecrow's diploma, Tin Man's heart, and the Lion's medal of courage. This movie is from the animated series "The Wizard of Oz" It ran 13 episodes and then had to compete with other cartoons, such as Muppet Babbies, then it was taken off the air. SO SAD. It is a great thing it is out now!

World Trade Center - In Memoriam
Released in DVD by A & E Home Video (29 August, 2002)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)

Made me wish I could visit
This is a marvelous DVD (originally aired on the History Channel) that gives you all kinds of interesting information about the twin towers. I really regret that I never was able to go New York and see the World Trade Center for myself. It truly was an amazing building inside and out. One of the sections has a man discussing that the tower could tolerate the impact of an airliner - and if you think about it - it did. It was the fire and heat that took the building down - so he was right.

A Documentary that touches the heart.
I was very sad and touched after watching this production as several of those interviewed in the show are no longer with us. Helped me realize how important the gift of life is and that things come and go but life is to be treasured always. Very worthwhile production as a tribute to those magnificent landmarks and especially to all who worked with all their hearts in these symbols of American freedom.

A beautifull and interesting documentary of the wtc.
This documentary shows every aspect of the World Trade Center it's (short?) history, from building it up from the concrete to the Trade Center its window washing machine, all the info about the Trade Center is on this tape.
Some people on the documentary are missing or dead, and some things people say in this documentary can be verry shocking. (especialy after Sept. 11th)
But in conclusion, this documentary shows you the World Trade Center (and it's people) within all it's glory.

It's too bad the WTC complex isn't going to be rebuild, those towers where icons of freedom and culture, if the statue of liberty was attacked and taken down, there would have been no question it was going to be rebuild...
...the same thing should happen with the twin towers. (the entire wtc complex actually)

2-Pac 4-Ever
Released in DVD by Trinity Home Enterta (28 October, 2003)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Starring: Tupac Shakur
Average review score:

2Pac 4Ever
Voice is personality. Tupac's voice was a siren. This film, with the compelling narration by KRS-ONE, shows how Tupac took his place in this world and stood there in an absolutely free relationship to it, demanding nothing in return. Tupac's music and poetry is inexhaustible, infinite, because, triumphing over time, again and again it condenses grace into magnificent clouds and lets it pour out in life-giving rain. Buy and see this film.

2pac 4 ever - the title says it all
2pac 4 ever is one of the best 2pac dvds out. I support anything 2pac but this product would be right up there with the rest of your collection, definitely a must-have.
Contains live concert footage of 2pac on stage at 'The House of Blues'. Something we don't often see.
Bizzy Bone's interview will really touch you because the way he speaks about 'Pac, you can tell that its from the heart.
KRS-One was a great choice as narrator. I'm glad this dvd did'nt just show a nobody to commentate(i.e., a person who just wrote a book about 'Pac) but instead brought in people who really knew him or are well respected.
Right at the end of the documentary, you'll have a real deep feeling when the very last song 'On the other side of the sky' is played and there is footage simultaneously playing of 'Pac rhyming from a piece of paper. You have to watch it to know what I'm talking about.
2pac was such an inspiration to so many people WORLDWIDE and will be dearly missed til the day I die. "2PAC 4 EVER".

The Abduction
Released in DVD by Starlight Home Entertainment (15 April, 2003)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Director: Larry Peerce
Average review score:

A Good film for Men also, not only Women
INfrequently (thank God !) we Men run into the (thankfully) *rare* "Lady* that _chooses_ to NON-ethically claw into a Man using the courts, etc., just-coz-she-wants-to-strike-at-him. May I haste to add that the MAJORITY of the Ladies out here among us guys would NEVER choose such a disgusting, illegal, UNethical course of action, just to get back at us. And _that_ is the perfect segue, at least as I see so, into my high praise of Victoria Principal and Robert Hays in THE ABDUCTION. May I please say how marvelously balanced, rational, and just and fair the illustration of the HORROR of us "Men" doing the OPPOSITE to the Love we *are* OBLIGED to demonstrate, perpetually, to Ladies is so well portrayed by Ms. Principal and Mr. Hays. A *must see* for EVERY Man *and* EVERY Woman. Guys, sit down with your Wives / Girl / Your Wife or Romance's Girls, and if what you see in THE ABDUCTION is YOU, please, get help ! It's NEVER too late !

Victoria Principal & Robert Hays are very believable
Shocking and suspenseful movie about a stalker ex-husband who wants his ex-wife back...both physically and emotional. Victoria Principal is a victim overcoming the violence brought upon her by her ex-husband (who turns psycho and will go to any length to get her back). This kind of stuff is really going on...The movie is a good reminder of that.

Adventures Of Justine - Midsummer Night
Released in DVD by New Concorde Home Video (19 June, 2001)
MPAA Rating: Unrated
Starring: Adventures of Justine and Daneen Boone
Average review score:

i liked this one, too
Daneen and Kimberley are beautiful. Just like the first film, we see plenty of nudity. What makes this film better (5 stars) is the fact that we see more of Miss Rowe. Who needs a plot in a film like this!

Adventures of Daneen Boone
Cute little mini-series, kind of a "serious-comedy"; Adventures revolve around Justine a student at a private girls school and her Professor Robson. This is the 2nd of the series and it develops the main characters a little more. Most of the short stories involve archeological and antiquities adventures. Excellent shower sceen in this one and a few other memorable scenes. Plenty of nice nude sceens of Daneen and a few of her friends...
