Concerto Di Pasqua: Easter Sunday Concert: Jubilaeum
Released in DVD by Image Entertainment (18 April, 2000)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Starring: Handel, Bellini, Verdi, Alvarez, P, and Monserrat Caballe
Average review score:

defect
I think I might have got a defect product. In addition of the poor picture and sound quality as mentioned by the earlier reviewer, my DVD also shows "blocks" during some scenes and sometimes the sound got distorted and even paused. Very annoying. Though Caballe is out of her prime anyway. By the way, this series's sound all seem to be bad. I also have the Jose Cura version, which I think the sound is even worse.

A nice compilation
In spite of a few negative points, it's a nice and moving compilation of popular spiritual and classical pieces which is a useful addition to my classical DVD collection. Unfortunately the pleasure is marred slightly by the picture quality being barely VHS standard let alone DVD. Because the Dolby Surround is not very effective, I switched my Yamaha 595A to "Movie Theatre" which greatly improved the surround effect. I then realised that there was an obtrusive and annoying mains hum due to microphone pickup that was noticeable between items coming mainly from the rear speakers. Eventually I found that the Movie Theatre setting was actually accentuating the noise. Changing to the Mono Movie setting proved to be the best, although the noise was still there. The cover shows that there should be 13 tracks when actually there are 14! If you like this type of music, then it's worth having in spite of these negative points. If it wasn't for the mains hum, I would have given a higher rating.

Buffalo Springfield Revisited - In Concert

You can be in my dream if I can be in yours
Okay. Buyer beware and all that. Anyone who bought this thinking it was anything other than a tribute band is living in a dream world. Okay, you spent 10 bucks and you're P.O'd. I can appreciate that. But just to set the record straight, Bruce Palmer and Dewey Martin were just as much a part of the Springfield as those other higher-profile dudes we all know and love; so lighten-up. Bad mouthing them only points up your own ignorance.

Buffaloed For Sure!
I was Buffaloed by this VHS turned to DVD . These guys are hilarious. The bass player never faces the audience the entire set. They have extra guitars in the background that they never use. I thought I was watching the Marx brothers perform Springfield material. It is amazing that this is being presented in any way, shape or form. If you listen to it through headphones without watching it the music is about garage band good . I agree one star is too good. I will sell you my copy if you email me. You will at least feel that your band has a real chance to be poorly videod doing some oldie band material - find a guy named Young to play in it and you will have one up on these guys.

Buffalo Springfield
This was one of the most deceptive products I have ever seen. The
ad never mentions the fact the Young,Stills, and Messina are not
in the show. I received the package and didn't even bother to open it. This is a total insult to Buffalo Springfield and the
ad is very misleading. I can't believe that Stills and Young gave them permission to do this.

South Africa Freedom Day: Concert on the Square
Released in DVD by Image Entertainment (18 June, 2002)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)

Ironic & Mediocre Concert- Africa Mostly Edited Out
This is a mediocre concert. Don't the let the title fool you- there is almost NO Afrcan music on it at all (!) & the performances by the Brit-poppers are lackluster at best. Baaba Maal fans: avoid this DVD- they limit his appearence to 52 seconds- while REM/Corrs get three songs each (12-15 min.)! This DVD is marred by colonialist editing- ironic, eh? Apartheid lives on the DVD.
