Sexy, Funny, Well Acted, Well Written, A Perfect Flick
So what do you need to know about A Family Affair? I saw this film last week and today I am ordering three copies (two for friends).

This is a great film with a fresh look. No longer do we have those dull badly acted lesbian movies where we watch for hours people telling us their philosophy about life or filled with angst, waiting for them to get to the point. No longer do we watch a film with actors who can't act or scripts that will put you to sleep. In other words A Family Affiar is different. This is a great movie that happens to be about lesbians! The actors can act, the script is funny, and the actresses are nice to look at for 2 hours. And of course there are sex scenes. So everyone gets what they want in this film. Truly this is a GREAT film. It is about relationships and choices, the kind we all deal with in our lives and it is the kind of film you will talk to your friends about long after the film is over.

I like this film so much I went to the web site of the movie for those interested. Anyway at the site I learned they are making a film with an erotic edge for lesbians!!!! Finally a company that understands what we want are great films and ones that interest us in every form.

Anyway see this film, it will be a treat. A Family Affair is a not to be missed lesbian cinematic treat!

BEST LESBIAN FILM EVER!!!
I am a movie lover!! I have seen practically every lesbian movie made, from dramas filled with tragic figures to love stories. A Family Affair is the best lesbian film I have viewed in recent years. The lesbian community finally has a well written, funny and accurate portrayl of our love lives funny, dramatic and well not much different than our straight counterparts. It is time people got to see we are not so different just because of who we choose to love. This is a film every lesbian let alone person needs to see. You will likely see yourself in it in one of the well developed characters. The story is about a girl torn between two girls the new love and the old love. With a great cast and sexy actresses this film should not be missed. You will want to see this one over and over again and share it with everyone you know. Everyone I know who saw this film is literally in love with it. Here in Miami it is hard to find this film due to it selling out, I had to buy it on Amazon :)

This will be the lesbian film we all look back on in years to come, plus it contains issues of gay marriage which are rather timely now. Go see it Go buy it This is a keeper!!

A GREAT LESBIAN ROMANTIC COMEDY ONE OF THE BEST!!!
I had seen this film once before in a festival in Washington DC.I thought it was funny and extremely well written, loved the characters and the romantic conflicts were real not some fictious hollywood story line. Then I saw it was for sale and read some of the reviews. I was surprised at some of the negative ones (likely someone who did not see the film). So I bought the DVD and had a girls night at the house to see the film. We all loved it! This film is funny, sexy and captures romance perfectly...The characters are great!! As is the story a Love triangle with all the humor, heartache and sexual trysts that accompany one. This is the perfect holiday gift, I know I am buying some for friends. This is a film you will want to have in your DVD library.A Family Affair is a GREAT LESBIAN Film.

MPAA Rating: R (Restricted)
Director: Fred Olen Ray

Dang, this movie is baaad!
Ok, I should have rented this movie from the library first before wasting my money on this stink burger...

The sub was too big and there was too much walking space, they ripped off too many scenes from Crimson Tide and Hunt for the Red October which were far better movies then this one. I strongly recomend you buy something else like Crimson Tide or Das Boot if you like submarine movies.

Just plain Bad
I have seen some pretty cheesy movies with bad acting, but Counter Measures has to be in the top five worst films of all time.

The story line, which has some great potential, is completely destroyed by the poor acting ability of the cast. Dudikoff can't even salute correctly - and he is supposed to be a SEAL??? Alexander Keith, while very attractive, does a very poor job convincing the viewer that she is a military solder. As for her role, I have heards better screams out 1950's era b-movies.

The scenes inside the sub where just as bad. Was that a Russian sub or the Starship Enterprise. I've seen houses with less room than the sub had.

The Special FX were attrocious, I've seen more realistic explosions using green plastic army men and firecrackers.

All in all just a very bad film and a complete waste of time.

Counter Measures
This movie is a great undiscovered movie hit. With the hard hiting excitement you want. This movie has great combination of top gun/ Hunt for Red October. I highly recommend this movie to any action packed film enthusiast.

Phantom Empire Volume 1
Released in DVD by Gotham Distribution (18 February, 2003)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Directors: B. Reeves Eason and Otto Brower

terrible transfer to DVD
I agree with the first reviewer. I was looking forward to watching this serial but the transfer to DVD is so poor that I gave up after the 2nd chapter.

great serial lousy copy
Yes, I too have fond memories of this serial, but this is a poor quality transfer, inferior even to vhs copies I have come across in the past. 'Nuff said.

Gene Autry sings to defeat evil!
I mistakenly purchased this DVD (PHANTOM EMPIRE: Part 2) thinking I'd get the entire serial, but all in all, this is a pretty fun viewing. Gene Autry falls into a subterranian city named Murania, and must fight to stay alive against the wicked queen that rules there. Very silly robots about in this story, with short-brimmed cowboy hats on top of their box-like features. A rebellion is being planned, as on the surface of the earth evil scientists plot to steal radium from the Radio Ranch. On top of all this, Radio Ranch is endangered by Gene Autry's inability to make it to perform on his radio show!
Complete with horse chases, sword fights, and deadly technology, this is a fun serial to watch. The print isn't great, but it is watchable and costs little for the entire collection. A very rare entry into the science fiction/western genre and a lot of fun!

Journey to the Center of Time

MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Director: David L. Hewitt
Starring: Scott Brady, Anthony Eisley, and Gigi Perreau
Average review score:

Gave 1 star because I can't give a zero.
Poor quality film. Poor DVD transfer. No Extras. Waste of time. At least I didn't throw a lot of money away on it. Terrible film.

Groundbreaking science fiction
This double feature DVD includes one of the best science fiction films, an adaptation of H.G. Wells' story "The Shape of Things to Come." This melodramatic tale, released in 1936, foresees a second World War beginning in 1940 and continuing into the 1970s, devastating the Earth. Eventually, mankind rebuilds, constructing a new and better civilization, culminating in the beginning of space travel in 2036. The film's striking production design, first rate photography, literate, intelligent script, and fine performances (especially by Raymond Massey) make this an essential film for science fiction fans.

Unfortunately this DVD is a low-budget, no-frills disc, made from a smudgy print. The audio has not been cleaned up; it's scratchy and dialogue is not always intelligible. Hopefully a remastered version will be released someday, with perhaps a few extras.

The less said about the second film, "Journey to the Center of Time", the better; it's worthwhile only as an example of how not to make a movie.

This DVD is worth buying for "Things To Come"; at least until a remastered version is available.

Things To Come: Good film, bad copy
“Things To Come” is one of those intelligent sci-fi films that you dream about. It is an adaptation of H. G. Wells book of the same name. Filmed in 1936, it traces the history of a (fictitious) world war that begins in 1940, and is continually fought until the 1970’s. The film show life before the war, life during the apocalypse, and finally traces world society into 2036, with a planned space mission, and a group of futuristic luddites who are opposed to the plan.

The sets and cinematography is pure eye-candy, and remind me of a rough Fritz Lang, and life during the apocalyptic war has become chilling, considering the possibilities that may happen in this war on terrorism.

It is an anti-war film. However, Wells naively thinks that scientific endeavor can save humanity. Contrast this with the idiotic statements that we got when the genome was cracked:

“Perhaps most surprising, two analyses released this month suggest that the entire human genome may contain fewer than 40,000 genes - about half the number that scientists have presumed (no more than a worm and a fly combined, Collins quips).”

Would you want scientist Collins, who can’t see the difference between a fly, a worm, and a human, to operate on you? And we are to build humanity on this foundation? Science had given us many trinkets, but she has failed to give us any meaning—due to the Naturalistic Fallacy. How do you get from “E=mc2” to “Love your neighbor?” The scientific endeavor, therefore, would just be a type of busy-work.

The copy is very rough and blurry at times, and the dialogue fades in an out, and the DVD has no frills that we love and use. But this rough copy is better than no copy at all! This is a perfect classic, and a must for an sci-fi junkie.

“Journey to the Center of Time” is bad. But I think it should be mandatory viewing for people who think that Star Trek: The Original Series was bad, since “Center of Time” makes Kirk look like Shakespeare!

Bright Lights, Big City
Released in DVD by MGM/UA Video (05 August, 2003)
MPAA Rating: R (Restricted)
Director: James Bridges
Starring: Michael J. Fox and Kiefer Sutherland
Michael J. Fox plays the most sympathetic cocaine addict you've ever seen in the movie of Jay McInerney's popular novel Bright Lights, Big City, the book that famously chronicled the coke- and cash-fueled era of the 1980s. Jamie Conway (Fox) works as a fact-checker for a major New York magazine, but because he spends his nights partying with his glib best friend (Kiefer Sutherland), he's on the verge of getting fired. His wife, a fast-rising model (Phoebe Cates), just left him; he's still reeling from the death of his mother (Dianne Wiest) a year earlier; and he's obsessed with a tabloid story about a pregnant woman in a coma. Bright Lights, Big City doesn't have much of a plot, but in its meandering way it captures some of the glossy chaos of the time and of a man desperately trying to escape the pain in his life. --Bret Fetzer

I agree - No Widescreen :(
Great movie. I had it on VHS but wanted it for DVD. But, sadly, it was not released in Widescreen, and not having that option kind of bothers me about DVD releases.

Given all that, since I got the disk for free (at Best Buy they offered a free DVD from a small set if you bought The Sure Thing and Valley Girl together), I can live with this format (for now). Maybe they'll do a special edition some day (though I doubt it as it wasn't a high profile film). Sigh.

Consistent
This movie was very consistent with the book which, if you liked the book, which made this a good movie.

Having read the book before seeing the moving gave me a bit more insight into the story. But even without reading the book first, viewers may watch in disbelief, wondering how long will it take for Michael J. Fox's character to kill himself or change his ways. Suffering through this drives home the ending of the film, and makes this the moving story that it is!

A well done film with a strong cast! The soundtrack isn't bad either...

His best performance since Marty McFly!
Up until today, I didn't even know this movie existed. I went to the store looking at the great DVD deals and MGM had this great deal going buy one of their flicks get another one free, so I picked this and The Fog Special Edition as my choices (I got two others, but that's not important). What first attracted me was the fact that Michael J. Fox, Kiefer Sutherland and Phoebe Cates were all in the same movie. That is quite a package in and of itself. I am a big big fan of Fox, and a new fan of Kiefer Sutherland after "Phone Booth" and "24". Phoebe Cates, well you can understand why if you saw Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

Anyway, the whole reason why I gave the movie only four stars is because I don't like seeing drug content in movies, and the drug content was a major role in the movie, and seeing Marty McFly doing cocaine is not something I'm used to seeing in a movie. But other than that small, yet big in my eyes, complaint here is my overall opinion of the movie:

All three actors do a great job (not as good a job for Phoebe because she wasn't in the movie as much as I hoped, and her character was heartless) This movie is worth the ten dollars that I paid and is worth however much [the website] or anyone else sells it.

Overall grade: 9.5/10

Sleepaway Camp III - Teenage Wasteland

NOTHIN' BUT TALK
I WATCHED THIS ENTIRE DVD AND SAW NOTHING. IT'S ONLY DIRECTORS NARRATING WHAT IS HAPPENING AND WHY. THIS IS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED AT ALL. I THINK THIS WAS A WASTE OF MY MONEY AND TIME. I WOULD NOT RECCOMEND THIS ONE TO ANYONE.

Seriously, are these supposed to be comedies?
This movie isn't really that bad, but you'll get all your moneys worth in one particular scene towards the begining. I won't give it away, but it involves Angela, a senile Woody Allen impersonator, an attractive young camper, and a stick.

THIS FILM IS TEENAGE WASTELAND FUN !!!!!!
SLEEPAWAY CAMP III - TEENAGE WASTELAND is much like the second film. Pamela Springsteen is back as Angela only this time, she kills a girl, steals her identity and goes to the new camp with a new set of campers on the same grounds where Angela murdered her victims the year before. An appropiate subtitle, this is a good film to watch if youhave an hour and a half to waste. Teenage Wasteland fun !!!!

This film is presented for the first time in 1.85:1 widescreen and the sound and picture quality are good for a film that was made on a very low budget.

Mirror Mirror 2: Raven Dance
Released in DVD by Anchor Bay Entertainment (24 October, 2000)
MPAA Rating: R (Restricted)
Director: Jimmy Lifton
Average review score:

why make sequels which aren't?
MIRROR MIRROR was a nifty little thriller with a seriously downer open ending which screamed for a sequel. Then MIRROR MIRROR 2 shows up, and it has nothing to do with the first film? The cast is fine, though the mute child is both annoying and been done to death a thousand times. The story is a bit confusing as a teen girl (MR. BELVEDEER's Tracey Wells)gets blinded by the mirror from hell as it electrocutes a satanic heavy metal band playing at her church (huh! )and freaks out her little bro. Little kids in parell are supposed to make the film scarrier, right? Well, no. This ain't THE BAD SEED or THE BROOD, so lose the kid. Tracey mostly wines a lot about being blind while a mysterious hunk keeps popping out of crawlspaces in the church walls because... well, I don't know why. He's not disfigured or psychotic, so I guess he's just a peeping tom. Meanwhile nasty step-sister Sally Kellerman plans to do evil things to Wells with the help of Roddy McDowell, and all while Veronica Cartwright babbles about evil. A great cast, also including Sarah Douglas, is completely wasted in a movie which isn't scary and seems to have a 3 hour running time (though it's only 90 minutes). Unfortunately, things get much lamer in Part 3.

This movie kicked
Ok first of all, this movie has NOTHING to do with Mirror Mirror , it just had no place on the big screen and somehow ended up with the title to give it more credit (people tend to watch sequals). The acting was ok. I LOVED the roll of Jeffrey, how cool is a little retarded person that can play the violin? I bet the actor is a real genious. I'm so happy amazon is re-releasing this movie. I think everyone should buy a copy! It's a classic of B-horror movies!

quite good sequel !
A mysterious mirror is found hidden in a church orphanage, yet few realize its legacy of evil. When an innocent teen (Tracy Wells) discovers that she is being stalked by her evil stepsister (Sally Kellerman), the mirror's demonic power is again unleashed. As the mirror gains strength from the blood of the damned, the ultimate battle between good and evil begins.

Demonicus
Released in DVD by Koch Full Moon Releasing (27 August, 2002)
MPAA Rating: R (Restricted)
Director: Jay Woelfel
Average review score:

KENZO RULES!
Well, what do you want? It's a cheezy horror film and a barrel of laughs. Gregory Lee Kenyon did a great job with a [bad] story. Not an easy part to play. It's good for a few chuckles!!! Maybe in the sequel they will get the audio track right. Halfway thru my DVD, the audio was not in sync, making it like watching an old Godzilla movie!! Nice looking babes in the film as well, didn't hurt!

Remember, Kids, This Is A FULL MOON Movie.
That's right, it's from Full Moon studios. And as we all know, Full Moon spends all of forty dollars to make their movies and recruit their actors from the 7-11 unemployment line. So remember, if it says 'Full Moon' on it, and it doesn't say 'The Dead Hate The Living', then it's gonna be cheap, stupid, and have lots of bad acting. Let's proceed.
Okay...'Demonicus'...Ah, now I remember. This is the touching story of some campers who have never acted before in their life. Upon reaching a magical cave of magic, one of the brainless children find a corpse wearing a helmet which is probably made out of Reynolds Wrap. And, for some inexplicable reason, our little hero picks up the hat and puts it on. Suddenly, a magic power surges through him and he is possessed by...DEMONICUS! Then a whole bunch of cheap effects take place.
Overall, the movie is...well, on a 'Full Moon' standard, it's average. On a normal movie basis, it's horrible. On MY movie standard, 'iss'kay'. I wouldn't expect much out of this film if I were you, but it's still worth a try.
And the DVD! Well...the special features are...there. What, they probably had the trailer and a small behind the scenes thing? Did this one have a trailer for this werewolf movie that sounded good? I don't remember...
Oh, well. That's it. I have nothing to say about this movie.

Luv,
Muttz!

Demonicus is a winner!!! OWN IT NOW!!!!!
Demonicus is a movie turned into a video game! I just love the story and the things that goes on in the film.It is a B-film ofcourse but that doesn`t bother one bit because its made just right and the music was rad! Horror and sword fight freaks, buy this movie now!

Frank McKlusky, C.I.
Released in DVD by Buena Vista Home Vid (13 January, 2004)
MPAA Rating: PG-13 (Parental Guidance Suggested)
Director: Arlene Sanford
Starring: Dave Sheridan
Frank McKlusky, C.I. is the latest movie to follow in the footsteps of the Farrelly brothers (who made Dumb and Dumber and There's Something About Mary). Dave Sheridan plays the title character, an insurance claims investigator whose father (Randy Quaid), a daredevil stuntman, blew up while attempting a motorcycle jump. In response, Frank's mother (Dolly Parton) became a safety nut, forcing her children to wear padded clothing and crash helmets even when sleeping. Frank's one goal in life is to get revenge on two shyster lawyers who prevented his father from getting proper medical attention. But the plot of Frank McKlusky, C.I. is just an excuse for an endless series of tasteless jokes about the handicapped, gays, fat people, bodily functions, and Scott Baio. If this is your cup of tea, you know who you are. Featuring Andy Richter, Kevin Pollack, and Chyna of the WWE. --Bret Fetzer
Average review score:

frank mcKlusky
Let's clear this up from the top: Frank McKlusky is NOT a superior comedy. This stupid (and sometimes offensive) comedy follows the life of over-precautious Frank as he stumbles in and out of a murder case. I say stupid without any regret because it is, sad to say, very stupid. But what makes Frank McKlusky funny is not the over-enforced, cliched jokes (which there are a lot of), but the more subtle and less noticeable things. I did laugh a few times. There WERE some funny moments, but overall it was tasteless and uninspired. A waste of money, but not necessarily a waste of time. Note: Probably the biggest disappointment in the movie is the inclusion of Randy Quaid when, quite frankly, he doesn't even DO anything. Sort of a waste, you know.

frank mcklusky
this more was alittle dumb the best part was the part with hanson in it thats way i gave it three stars cause hanson

frank mcfartskey
this movie is really fun if you have nothing to do and have a broad sense of humour. dolly parton looks really pretty, but then she always does.
