Bikini Summer 2
Released in DVD by Madacy Entertainment (19 August, 2003)
MPAA Rating: R (Restricted)
Director: Jeff Conaway
Average review score:

Jeff Conaway (from TAXI) Directed This...
And it is chaotic, incomprehensible! Jessica Hahn, top billed is on display for about 90 seconds (you think she can act?) Everything else is chop suey, editing room out-jokes (the opposite of in-jokes), vapid, soft core, exploitation. This movie was made by people who know that a name in the news, and female nudity will separate a certain type (worldwide) from their cashola.

THE BEST!
This movie is great. It's possibly the most amazing movie ever made. It stars Jessica Hahn as a horny houswife, and is directed by Jeff "Bobby Wheeler" Conaway of Taxi fame. It also stars Conaway's sister, and a guy who was also in Donnie Brasco, not to mention some great acting from females who sometimes get naked. I swears to bears that this movie is a tour de force of modern filmmaking. Bikini Summer 2 will be discovered by anthropologists in the distant future and will become an object of serious discussion and investigation. This movie defines its own genre and is perfect for the discriminating film enthusiast.

Fantastic!
Let's face it. We're not watching this sort of movie for great character development or intriquite plot twists. This sort of movie is all about women in bikinis, or less. This movie is an excellent piece of work, if judged with that in mind. The women are many and Hot, the situations are funny and provocative, and the outfits are skimpy, revealing and imaginative. There are few movies in this genre that can top this one. If you are a fan, Don't hesitate to buy this flick!

Crazy as Hell
Released in DVD by Lions Gate Home Ente (04 February, 2003)
MPAA Rating: R (Restricted)
Director: Eriq La Salle
Average review score:

A "Coming from left field" type of flick.
Actor Michael Beach of THIRD WATCH, WAITING TO EXHALE, and numerous other projects, portray a psychiatrist/doctor who knows everything about dealing with emotionally/mentally disturbed patients, but never caught a clue when his own daughter took her own life. Moving his practice, he's invited to work at a mental hospital and seems to have the answers for how to cure and/or control the patients, and is willing to do it his way, whether the director likes it or not. His pride being his biggest flaw, he meets his match with his latest patient, played by Eriq LaSalle. Dressed to the nines with a eloquent manner and speech, he addresses himself as Satan and wants to use the doctor's help in overhauling his image, because it's become a real drag in being the so-called "bad guy" in every disaster on this earth, no matter how big or small. From this point, the psychological aspects come in as to whether this guy is really crazy, or is he really the prince of darkness? What does he really want with the doctor, or is this a very elaborate scam? Truly, a thinking movie that runs deeper than the norm, and that made it a hit with me.

Boring as hell?
Um, this is a phsychological thriller, not a brainless action flick. It appears the reviewer missed the entire point and moral of the story. I won't give it away because I don't want to ruin it for those who are interested in an excellent movie that'll give you the chills, and really make you think at the same time.

The Bizzare is alive and well
This is a great movie for those who love alternative films. It's strange, it's haunting and has a great ending that dosn't throw a huge punch but is a stunner nevertheless.

Desolation Angels
Released in DVD by Fox Lorber (12 June, 2001)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Director: Tim McCann
Average review score:

THIS IS THE WORST FILM I HAVE EVER SEEN!
I saw this movie at the Film Forum in New York City a number of years ago.45 minutes into the film I got up and walked out. In my entire movie going experience I have never asked for my money back, but this movie was so bad I felt it warranted. I can't believe this thing actually won awards, let alone is out on VHS or DVD!

Brilliant!
Tim McCann and Michael Rodrick created an incredible movie! Showing all the emotions a man goes through, after his girlfriend is assaulted.Definitely worth a first and second look!

SIMPLY WONDERFUL!
Tim McCann did an amazing job on this gritty, amazing film. The special talent of Michael Rodrick shined brightly in this independent masterpiece. Bravo to McCann and Rodrick! Best wishes to you both in the future! DON'T MISS THIS FILM!

Dreamers
Released in DVD by Pathfinder Home Ente (17 June, 2003)
MPAA Rating: Unrated
Director: Ann Lu
Average review score:

Not what it seems!!!!
I guess there are 1000's of movies like this in the video stores that noone wants to rent. The title is unattractive and conveys the film maker's state of mind-----dreamer. The concept and storytelling are not original, a little bit of this and that, here and there: such a stereotype film-making technique from some amateurs who are trying to overwhelm the viewers with such mediocre production. Low budget is not an issue here though, but the movie does look low budget, simply because the story itself is insufficient to augment a low budget production. The writer (from China) obviously does not understand the thinking of typical Americans and how Americans perceive Hollywood. Anyway...I find this flick completely overrated.

Dreamers is the real deal...
As someone who lives and works in Los Angeles/Hollywood, DREAMERS does show the "real" Hollywood. The film offers no apologies for showing the way it really is and does not cheat the audience with a sugar-coated fantasy world.

Entertaining and on-point from the first frame, Ann Lu has pulled off the real deal...

A smart film that's worth owning
Movies about Hollywood dreams generally fall into one of two categories: ... "Dreamers" is a rare picture in that it really captures the mindset of the indie filmmaker, with humor, compassion, and spot-on insight. I've watched it many times, and I find something new I like in it each time I see it. The director and cinematographer team are wonderful, and I can't wait to see what they come up with next. In the end, you'll find out that we're all "Dreamers!"

Somebody Has to Shoot the Picture
Released in DVD by Goodtimes Home Video (18 May, 1999)
MPAA Rating: R (Restricted)
Director: Frank Pierson
Starring: Roy Scheider and Bonnie Bedelia
Average review score:

Predictable Hollywood morality tale
The same, old, tired leftish cliche: evil, corrupt police and prison officials, noble (and, of course, actually innocent) death-row murderer -- you get the picture. This type of political advocacy will only appeal to those of a similar mind-set. I found it tiresome.

Riveting!
Oscar nominee Roy Scheider stars in this suspense thriller written by photojournalist Doug Magee, inspired by his interviews with and photos of death-row prisoners. Convicted of killing police officer Jack McGrath in a Florida swamp seven years ago, small-time drug dealer Ray Eames (Howard) hires burned-out photographer Paul Marish (Scheider) to shoot his execution. Bonnie Bedelia is McGrath''s widow, Hannah, who reluctantly helps Marish try to uncover new evidence that may save Ray from the electric chair after the execution is postponed. Directed by Oscar-winning screenwriter Frank Pierson, this riveting made-for-cable drama also features Andre Braugher and Robert Carradine.

Art or Reality?
I can't really objectively comment on this film, because I was a member of the cast. I played Dr. Miliken. It is, however, one of the few films I've worked on that I take pride in being associated with. It's the closest to an actual execution that I hope to ever witness. Although we were on a set at Universal Studios, there was an ambiance of reality that permeated the atmosphere making us all feel uncomfortable, as though we were actually in the presence of the mechanisms and structures that state governments use to take human life. It was an awesome experience and, I hope, an important film for us all to seriously ponder. By the way, the actor that Rhonda2 refers to above is Arliss Howard. And she is absolutely correct -- Arliss is remarkably good at his craft.

Tenchi in Tokyo:A New Career
Released in DVD by Pioneer Video (14 December, 1999)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Yuugi's plot to destroy the Masaki household and leave Earth vulnerable to her attack has almost succeeded when the balance begins to shift back in favor of Jurai and Earth. Galaxy Patrol Agents Mihoshi and Kiyone infiltrate Ryouko's gang of space pirates and reestablish their friendship, despite Hotsamu's efforts to keep them apart.

Back on Earth, Washu discovers that Yuugi is a powerful mutant who nearly destroyed Jurai 3,500 years ago. Sealed in a special capsule by the empress Hinase, Yuugi was exiled to the far reaches of space, but somehow crashed on Earth. Ayeka visits the crash site and confirms Washu's findings. She prepares elaborate defenses for the Masaki house--and catches Tenchi's dimwitted father in her traps. Yuugi adopts the guise of a blonde waif to befriend the naive Sasami.

Romantic, funny... another Tenchi Classic
Of the different continuities in the Tenchi Muyo Anime this is the one I liked the least. Actually, I take that back; "Pretty Sammy" is the worst. I thought I should get the stuff I don't like out of the way. In "Tenchi in Tokyo" the animation is ghetto, and the subject matter seems less mature than the "Tenchi Muyo" and "Tenchi Universe" continuities but there is some stuff here that Toonami, in their cowardice of mature themes, cut from the OAV which you now get to see. Yeah, yeah the art isn't that great; this doesn't make it a bad seires to add to your collection however. In fact, in spite of the drawbacks I've singled out here it's still a great romantic comedy Anime.

All the girls still love Tenchi, and as is the norm in the other Tenchi shows, Ryoko and Ayeka can't stop fighting over him. Now they have even more competition, a cute girl named Sakuya works her way into Tenchi's heart, which makes for tons of hillarious moments between all of the original Tenchi characters.

Without giving too much away, I just want to say that parts of this show were immature to me, but hey, it's a cartoon right? Tenchi and Tenchi Universe have their dopey moments too. Overall I forgot about the crummy animation in favor of the story which is classic Tenchi. It's involving, funny and very fun to watch and I reccomend this to anybody. Just be warned that the art in this is not even close to Tenchi and Tenchi Universe.

I gave it four stars becasue of the art. I should give it 5 just for not being "Pretty Sammy", but 4 is good.

Tenchi in Tokyo enjoyable for all ages!
I'm sure that those who have been continuosly watching the series will find these episodes both fun, humourous and emotionally interesting. The animation is somewhat disapointing from what Tenchi fans have seen in the OVA series and Tenchi Universe. However the excellent plot and well thought out story lines of these episodes should keep you interested. The first episode Old friends is a continuation of the struggle for the Tenchi Family to reunite after the huge battle caused by Yugi at the Masaki Shrine. This episode shows Mihoshi and Kiyone antics and comedy and has mix of Ryoko's emotional ideas, which creates a great combination. The last episode is exceptional because it shows us the secrets of Sakuya Kumishiro's past, Tenchi's current steady girlfriend, that gives a great lead off into the next dvd, this dvd requires more special features and thankfully includes a scene acess for each of the episodes. If you truly are a Tenchi fan that i'm sure those of you who have been keeping up with the series will enjoy these episodes!

Tenchi as ever...
As comical as Tenchi can get.. awesome fight scenes. I'm a big fan of the original series and hate to get mixed up with these alternate timelines, however, this is one of the good ones.

Tenchi Universe - Volume 6 - Space II
Released in DVD by Pioneer Video (30 January, 2001)
MPAA Rating: PG-13 (Parental Guidance Suggested)
Director: Hiroshi Negishi
Tenchi and the gang are still on the run from the usurping junta on the planet Jurai, but the filmmakers seem to lose track of that story line in these three episodes. While Washu repairs the engines in "No Need for Hunger," Ryoko is dispatched to a nearby planet to buy groceries for the hungry crew. After eating, drinking, and gambling her way through the cash on hand, she robs the local branch of the Bank of Jurai--and brings the Galactic Police out in force. Sasami strikes up a friendship with Mirei, the lonely ghost of a little girl in episode 18. They share some special adventures, and Sasami's image appears in an old photograph of Mirei, indicating the strength of their bond. A pair of two-bit punks hijacks Kiyoni's spaceship Yagami--with Tenchi's father and grandfather still aboard playing chess--in "No Need for Runaways." Tenchi, Ryoko, Washu, Kiyoni, and Mihoshi pursue them in "Ryo-Oki"--leaving Ayeka and Sasami stuck with the bill at the fast-food restaurant where they'd stopped. Rated 13 Up for alcohol use and minor cartoon violence. --Charles Solomon

No Need for a Ghost
The Tenchi Gang is still in space, making thier way to Jurai. Along the way, Sasami meets a ghost of a girl, two idiots that steal Yagami, and the search for food.
This DVD keeps the plot up, but doesn't speed it up. The Tenchi Gang has a long way to go to reach Jurai.

Cool Episode
I love these three Episodes. They go on a journey through space to go to Jurai, but try not to get captured. The first episode is where Ryoko goes out to get food, but ends up robbing a Jurai bank somewhere. The second episode is where Sasamie meets this ghost girl name Mirai. A lonely ghost. When Tenchi and the gang finds out that Sasamie is missing, they search for her. The last episode is where Yagumi is stolen by some stupid punk teenagers probably 17 or up to 20 years old. Tenchi, Ryoko, Kiyone, Mihoshi, and Washu chases at them, but Grand father Katsuhito and Tenchi's dad still in Yagumi, but they don't know what is going on. But they forgot about Ayeka and Sasamie, back at the resturaunt. I rate this a 5 star. It is great to buy.

Great Episodes
Just have to say that all the episodes are wonderful in Tenchi Universe. It is my favorite series because of it's so hilarious. Even though these are filler episodes, they can tell you about some of the characters.

Playboy - Staying on Top
Released in DVD by Image Entertainment (19 March, 2002)
MPAA Rating: R (Restricted)
Director: John Quinn (III)
Average review score:

Very good, but not great.
I really enjoyed this video. Holly Sampson (2 scenes), Ava Lake (1 scene), and Sasha Rochelle (2 scenes) all look great. The sex scenes are, for the most part, very well done. This isn't one where the music covers up the sounds of the actors/actresses and there are no abrupt or awkward endings.

But there were some things that I would have liked to seen done differently. They should have cut some dialogue and fit in one or two more sex scenes. One of the scenes is in the back of a limo, which isn't the optimal location. The lighting in that scene wasn't very good either. And finally, during a couple of scenes, the director had a tendency to zoom the camera in too close to the action. We needed some full body shots.

But it's still easy to recommend.

"La Conte," get it?
"Staying On Top" is another film of the softcore erotica genre. I liked this film, although I have seen better. The acting was generally good considering the genre.

Not many people care about the plots of films like this one, but here it is. A new, young advertising executive, Katherine Phillips, is put in charge of a new account. However her supervisor, Cindy La Conte, takes the account away from her. Ms. La Conte wants the account all to herself. Ms. Phillips quits her job from the frustration, but there's a problem. The new account specifically wanted her to do the work, not Ms. La Conte. If the head of the firm finds out that Katherine Phillips quit her job, Cindy La Conte will be out of a job. If things weren't bad enough for Katherine, she finds out that her boyfriend has been cheating on her. Can Katherine Phillips survive Ms. La Conte's schemes while dealing with the emotional turmoil of her love life? Better yet, can she succeed with her dreams?

Okay, this isn't "Citizen Cane" on any level. With a gag character name like "La Conte" for the evil female villain, this film is clearly as deep as a baby pool. However, it's not supposed to be deep. This is a film that couples can watch if they're feeling up to "stimulating" entertainment.

Now here's the deal. Six scenes are straight male-to-female scenes, one scene is a one-female-shower scene, and another scene is a one-female-massaging-two-other-females-then-getting-it-on-with-the-third-female-she-massages scene. There are three male actors and six female actresses that grace these scenes. Some don't look that good, but most do. Holly Sampson is always great, and Sasha Rochelle was great too.

It's good. If this sort of thing is your bag, check it out.

Pink Paradise
Softcore erotica is getting much more explicit lately in it's coverage of the female anatomy. "Staying On Top" is no exception. Forget the plot and enjoy the skin on display in this one. Holly Sampson has two hot scenes, one with a guy in a pool where she wraps her legs around his head (I know he enjoyed the view, as we get a few peeks too!) and a solo scene with shower massager in the right spot. The most explicit shots come when Holly Hollywood massages three of the babes in the movie, one at a time. Lots of shots from behind as Holly's oily hands really move those derrieres. The last massage of beautiful, busty Ava Lake is really explicit... lots of close ups between the legs and some definite touching down there... can we still call it softcore at this point? You be the judge.

The Wind
Released in DVD by Image Entertainment (25 March, 2003)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Director: Nico Mastorakis
Average review score:

terrorizing, creepy and dark.
Meg Foster is terrorized by Hauger relentlesly. A woman alone, writing a novel and a man outside her door, stalking her makes for a good thriller. I am excited to find this video again. I couldn't remember the name of it, but I remember the woman with haunting eyes. I traced her back to Rutger Hauer, and bingo! The Wind. Watch it, rent it, buy it. It is a great chiller thriller. But one word of caution for women: DON'T WATCH IT ALONE...ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT!

Good movie, worth seeing
I haven't seen the DVD, but I have seen the VHS of this, and it is a pretty creepy movie. What I really wanted to comment on was how great the cover art for this DVD is! Wow, a real improvement of the old cover art, and really, just a great image! I love the little picture of the guy chasing the girl along the bloody blade. Pretty much fits with the creepy movie, about an author who struggles to survive a night of unrelenting terror at the hands of a mad stalker, all set in an isolated castle in Greece. Great movie, a definite recommendation.

Worth 'the wind' in action in this suspense/horror thriller.
Had seen this movie way back in 1987, when it was just released. Although, never accessible again, its worth viewing for its story line, in particular 'the wind' in action. The suspense/horror is gripping. Hope that its VHS price reduces, as its a collectable.

Best Men
Released in DVD by M G M, Inc (16 April, 2002)
MPAA Rating: R (Restricted)
Director: Tamra Davis
Average review score:

A funny love story with a criminal edge
This self-consciously quirky flick alternates between being a coming-of-age comedy and a hostage drama; unfortunately, viewers don't always get the best of both worlds.

It's a special day for Jesse Reilly (Hottie Luke Wilson) in more ways than one. Not only is it the day he gets out of jail after three long, hard years but it is also the day he gets married to his long suffering girlfriend, Hope (Barrymore). When his four best buddies -Pollock (Andy Dick), Military Stud Muffin, Buzz Thomas (Super Hottie Dean Cain), Billy Phillips (Sean Patrick Flannery) and Sol Jacobs (Mitchell Whitfield) meet him at the prison gates all dressed up in their dinner suits and bow ties, Jesse knows life can still be sweet, that is until Billy decides to rob the town bank because he needs a little. With spectacular stunts, great action, sparkling dialogue, and some unexpected twists, Best Men is a must-see action comedy.

Hoping for a fresh start, Jesse grows impatient with Billy, who unbeknownst to any of his friends, is the notorious "Hamlet Robber," who quotes Shakespeare as he conducts stick-ups and whose Robin Hood ways have made the Hamlet Robber very popular with the public, makes two dubious decisions when he decides to pull off this particular robbery. He decides to knock over a bank owned by his own father, Sheriff Bud Phillips (Fred Ward), and to involve his unwitting friends. While they recover from their shock, a standoff inside the bank has escalated into a hostage crisis.

Shots are exchanged and Teddy is wounded. Seeing an opportunity to nab the notorious Hamlet Robber, the FBI claims jurisdiction over Sheriff Phillips, who had the volatile situation contained. Bride-to-be Hope bursts through the barricade, the small-time robbery quickly transforms into a major fiasco leading to the lovebirds into exchanging their vows at the bank, and the FBI their witnesses!

Jesse demands that a preacher marry them; unfortunately, the reverend turns out to be a federal officer. After a shoot out with the preacher, who gets winged, the possibility of a peaceful resolution fades further away. Although the Feds grant Billy's request for an escape bus, the authorities bide their time. Can Billy's confederates anticipate the FBI's plans and vamoose to freedom without further casualties? This annoyingly sincere, let's-try-anything serio-comedy is a dog-eared trek through DOG DAY AFTERNOON territory. It tries to invest its characters with the weight of tragedy, and then consistently dilutes the story's serious aspects with broadly comic interludes.

Frankly, I wouldn't have seen this movie if it didn't star Dean Cain. When I first looked at the cover of video at blockbuster...I thought, hmm ok another cheesy movie...but it has Dean Cain, and surprisingly, it wasn't cheesy at all.

You might find this movie a bit "strange" at first... (What IS this movie??) but as the movie goes on and races towards the end, it becomes so powerful that you can't leave you seat until after the movie is over.

This movie has SOOOO MANY issues in it, and it sometimes feels like "too much".(Although, I personally liked the speech by Vietnam war veteran- he exactly knew what to say to Dean Cain's "Buzz") and in the end, it all comes down to one most valuable thing in the world.

Love, of course.

Best friends risking their lives, no actually sacrificing their lives just for their friend's happiness and sweet love.

The very talented Sean Patrick Flannery is ostensibly the film's star, but it's truly an ensemble piece with its share of ensemble-piece problems. Each character has his own story line - Buzz's dishonorable discharge and the "don't ask, don't tell" secret that haunts him; Pollock's wish for a more exciting life than his ho-hum marriage, Billy's falling out with his father and all of his daddy issues; and Sol Jacobs and his guilt over not doing everything he could to keep Jesse out of jail - but it's difficult to believe these characters would be together in any way, let alone be best friends. The only realistic portrayal of friendship comes between Billy & Buzz, when Billy delivers a gut wrenching soliloquy letting buzz know that no matter what, their friendship will outlast everything. The other friendships feel a bit contrived. No matter: The film has some solid performances and a surprising measure of wisdom, making this entertaining - and highly relevant - look at male friendships in contemporary life.

Drew's in this movie, but barely...
I received this DVD as a gift. The person who bought this knows that I am absolutely NUTS over Drew Barrymore. Even thought Drew is on the cover her actual role in the movie is minor. Her role here is comparable to her role in "Donnie Darko." The movie does start off a bit tepid and ends with a punch. Watch and listen carefully for there are some shocking surprises. I will say that the movie is well made and engrossing. However, if you must buy this movie, buy it for the fun of watching it and not for solely for seeing Drew.

Never Rob A Bank On You're Wedding Day!!!
Hi, I'm 13 years old!
The reason I've said that I'm 12 is it doesn't go to my age!
Anyway.......................
Best Men is one of my favourite all time movies!!!
I love the way it sought of tells the story of these young guys and a girl who is gonna marry one of them!
Even though the rest of the characters were good, I absolutely fell in love with the character of Lt. John "Gonzo" Coleman! He's a character who's. .well, he's funny without meaning to be, if you know what I mean!
If you like a film with boys, comedy, disgruntled soldiers, good soundtracks and a good script, this is the one for you!!!
