Freestyle Gaglore
First off, if you're not into freestyle snowboarding, stop reading. On the other hand, if you think some guy doing a CAB360 over a road is pretty cool, this is your cup of adrenaline.

From Todd Richards to Mickey LeBlanc, everyone in this video spents very little time on the snow and a lot of time in the air or on a rail (or two). We're not talking simple trick like straight air with a grab; think Rodeo, CAB, BS720, 50/50 on a tree branch, handrails, etc. Guys go BIG with a capital B, I, and G. This is not really a snowboard video as much as it is a stunt video involving snowboards. Jackie Chan would pay to see stuff like this.

And lastly, a good trick needs a good film crew to capture it. And Whitey is one of the best at doing that. Bottom line, Destroyer will fill up the hungriest freestyle enthusiast.

Great snowboarding dvd
This DVD is nasty with so many great snowboarders like mikey leblanc, gigi ruf, and chad ottestrom. This DVD also has the previous kingpin productions movie "The Revival" It pretty much the same snowboarders as "Destroyer" and just as much action. Buy this DVD if you enjoy watching some sick snowboarding.

you will not soon forget this movie
this is a beautiful movie with a powerful theme of morality. The sound track adds to the power and should be sold separately...so far I haven't found it. If you want to have some food for the mind and add some shades to the spectrum of grays see this movie.

The best movie I have ever seen
I watched this movie some months ago when it was aired on TV, and it moved me so much I could not sleep for many nights.

Nothing in the film was exagerrated, nor was anything in it untrue. The performances and screenplay were so magnificent, it was like having stepped back in time and seeing the story unfold before your eyes. It was the best potrayal of WW2 that I have ever come across.

This movie, like a good book, not only deserves one viewing, but many, whenever we need to remember those who suffered the horrors of the holocaust.

Monday Night Mayhem
Released in DVD by Warner Home Video (02 September, 2003)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Director: Ernest R. Dickerson
Based on the book by Bill Carter and Marc Gunther, this immensely entertaining made-for-cable film tells it like it was in chronicling the golden age of Monday Night Football, a bold experiment in prime-time programming that transformed the pop-culture landscape. Carrying the ball for the lesser-known ensemble is John Turturro's Emmy-worthy performance as Howard Cosell, who played the role of "provocateur" in the then-revolutionary three-man booth that included in its heyday "Dandy" Don Meredith (Brad Beyer) and Frank Gifford (Kevin Anderson). John Heard gives a career-best performance as ABC producer Roone Arledge, who nurtured his brainchild and brilliantly massaged the egos of his stars. His prickly, more complex relationship with Cosell is the heart of this film. Rich with incident, Monday Night Mayhem spans from Muhammad Ali's controversial anti-Vietnam War stance and the blood-soaked 1972 Munich Olympics to John Lennon's death, which Cosell announced to a shocked nation. Also comic and compelling is the behind-the-scenes in-fighting and the colorful backstage characters. This film will score even with viewers who preferred watching Mayberry RFD on those Monday nights long ago. --Donald Liebenson

Brilliant behind-the-scenes drama!
I don't watch football. I could care less about football. The great thing is that you don't have to enjoy football at all to enjoy this immensely entertaining and brilliantly acted behind-the-scenes true-story. I would rank this up there with "Barbarians at the Gate" and "Reversal of Fortune" as one of the best docu-dramas ever made. John Turturro is spellbinding as Howard Cosell (much better in my opinion that Jon Voight's Oscar-nominated performance in the same role in "Ali"). If he doesn't get an Emmy for this, I'd be really disappointed. John Heard and Brad Beyer also turn in great perfomances as well. The writing really gets to the emotional depth of each character. Even if you hate football, you'll find a lot to like in this fascinating true story of battling egos, corporate politics and history-making moments.

Great fun and informative, too
Anyone who's addicted to Monday Night Football but doesn't know how the whole thing got started should see this movie. John Turturro gives a remarkable performance as Howard Cosell, who is both the most prominent and sympathetic character in the movie. Brad Beyer is pretty funny as Don Meredith, and John Heard draws the audience into his enthusiasm for MNF as Roone Arledge. There is plenty of archival football footage, and even the music goes along well with the action. I really enjoyed this movie; besides giving a good account of how MNF began, it satisfied my craving for anything NFL-related during the off-season.

The Pact
Released in DVD by Avalanche Video (17 July, 2001)
MPAA Rating: R (Restricted)
Director: Rodney Gibbons
Average review score:

The truly compelling "bad guy".
"The Pact" is a very amusing film. Rider Strong's character is a wonderful-and unexpectedly complex-villain; the viewer occaisionally finds himself/herself rooting for him by mistake, instead of the slightly less fascinating "good guy". Unfortunately parts of the movie can get downright cliché. Yet this movie pulls it off; the ending may not be much of a surprise, but it is quite entertaining and pleasing all the same. "The Pact" may not be ground-breakingly original, but does what movies should do: it entertains, and does it fabulously.

One of the best movies Rider Strong has done so far!!!
I think this is one of rider's best movies that he has done so far. It is really hard to play the bad person, so he did a excellent job. I loved the plot to the movie and the way there wasn't a dull moment when I watched it. The end really surprised me because I thought that Lennie was just some average bad person that was out to kill that kid for his boss. But when I got to the end it was more than that. And I am proud to say that nobody could have done better at playing lenny than Rider did. He was wonderful and the dvd is great and I can't wait until I get my copy of "the Pact".

Centennial
Released in DVD by (01 October, 1978)
MPAA Rating:
Directors: Harry Falk, Virgil W. Vogel, Paul Krasny, and Bernard McEveety (II)
A remarkably ambitious and engrossing project, this 1978 television miniseries ran 26-and-a-half hours, cost a then-enormous $25 million, and involved 4 directors, 5 cinematographers, and somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 speaking parts. Based on James Michener's panoramic bestseller about the settling of the American West--as reflected in the history of a fictional town called Centennial, Colorado--the story begins in the late 18th century and ends with a typical 20th century conflict over land usage. Centennial, however, largely concentrates on various memorable frontiersmen, trappers, Indians, ranchers, cowboys, and farmers from long ago. Richard Chamberlain shines as the pioneer Alexander McKeag, Robert Conrad does some of his best work as French-Canadian Pasquinel, and performances by Alex Karras, Chad Everett, Sally Kellerman, Raymond Burr, Richard Crenna, David Janssen, and Dennis Weaver effectively add to a tapestry of adventure, tragedy, violence, and dubious Western progress. Produced at a time when TV networks were in the throes of acknowledging America's history of racial injustice, the program paints a starkly villainous portrait of opportunists exploiting and destroying Indians in the name of manifest destiny. While the project's great length might make one wary of diving in, Centennial is the sort of carefully paced drama that makes one care about the intertwined destinies of unique characters and how they illuminate America's past. --Tom Keogh

Centennial is awsome
I thought this movie just brought you into the story .You felt like you were a part of the whole movie. Each character was so real..
this all star cast of actors and actress were wonderful.
I was glued to the tv set every time it was aired on TV . I could watch this time and time again. IT is very educational too, what real settlers had to go thru good and bad.It was just
amazing how well the story line moves along.
I think everyone should see it at least once ( if not more).

Centennial
One of the GREATEST movies I have ever seen, I saw it on TV as a mini series in 1978.. I have tried to rent it at the video store but they are missing two episodes.. YOU CAN NOT miss a thing .. this movie would get 10 stars if I could rate it that high..very interesting, great actors, would love to own it on DVD..

What a miniseries should be...
I remember watching this series as a kid and I thought it was one of the best series on TV. The story and acting are fantastic. The scenery is incredible. The fact that its roughly based on the history of the area is even more amazing considering some of the fare that makes it way to TV these days. It is probably safe to say that we will not see an effort like this again.
This series is based on the book of the same name. It is set roughly in Colorado and spans the history of that area from the time of the earliest French traders to roughly the mid 1970's. It mostly deals with the effects of westward expansion on the Native Americans, but there are various other issues as well. To film it, a powerhouse cast was assembled and it spans over 12 episodes. The cool thing about it is that each of the characters are somewhat interrelated and things that happen in early episodes come back in later episodes. The other cool thing is that the characters are easily related too.
With all the crap they are putting on DVD these days, it would be really nice if they would re-release this series. Not only is it entertaining but you can use it to learn stuff about the history of this great nation.

Vividly Real
This is one of the best movies I have ever seen. I'm a high school student and I know these things in this movie are real, because it almost happened at my school. I think everyone should watch it because it makes you think about how the world feels to people who don't think they can fit in and belong. There are so many people like that. I know this all too well and I like that the movie showed that people can get out of those kind of situations and hopefully change for the better.

Very good
Very brief: this movie was informative and hit people. I hope it was an eye opener.

AMAZING
This is one of the best movies that I have seen. I still watch it and am blown away by how powerful this movie is. It is realistic in a way that I never thought possible and I love the way that it is shot. Going into this movie, I thought that the kids that were involved in school shootings were just messed up kids, after watching this movie, I can understand where they are coming from (not that it forgives it). I do think that every teenager should see this, if not the entire movie, then the video that Ben Foster's character makes and is shown to his parents, the administration, and police. I would give this movie 6 stars if I could, and I think that it is a movie that needs to be made more known.

October Sky
Released in DVD by Universal Studios (03 June, 2003)
MPAA Rating: PG (Parental Guidance Suggested)
Director: Joe Johnston
Starring: Jake Gyllenhaal and Chris Cooper
Based on the memoir Rocket Boys by Homer H. Hickam Jr., October Sky emerged as one of the most delightful sleepers of 1999--a small miracle of good ol' fashioned movie-making in the cynical, often numbingly trendy Hollywood of the late 20th century. Hickam's true story begins in 1957 with Russia's historic launch of the Sputnik satellite, and while Homer (played with smart idealism by Jake Gyllenhaal) sees Sputnik as his cue to pursue a fascination with rocketry, his father (Chris Cooper) epitomizes the admirable yet sternly stubborn working-man's ethic of the West Virginia coal miner, casting fear and disdain on Homer's pursuit of science while urging his "errant" son to carry on the family business--a spirit-killing profession that Homer has no intention of joining.

As directed by Joe Johnston (The Rocketeer), this wonderful movie is occasionally guilty of overstating its case and sacrificing subtlety for predictable melodrama. But more often the film's tone is just right, and the spirit of adventure and invention is infectiously conveyed through Gyllenhaal and his well-cast fellow rocketeers, whose many failures gradually lead to triumph on their makeshift backwoods launching pad. Capturing time and place with impeccable detail and superbly developed characters (including Laura Dern as an inspiring schoolteacher), October Sky is a family film for the ages, encouraging the highest potential of the human spirit while giving viewers a clear view of a bygone era when "the final frontier" beckoned to the explorer in all of us. --Jeff Shannon

Average review score:

A great movie, a great book, and it's Hickam, not Hickman
October Sky is indeed a great movie as nearly everyone has written in these reviews. But it is based on a great book, too, written by Homer Hickam (not Hickman!!!) titled Rocket Boys or in the paperback version October Sky. The book is quite a bit different from the movie but is every bit as powerful. If you want to know the real story of the Coalwood Rocket Boys and also just read a very good page-turning book, try it and the sequels out, too. The Coalwood Way and Sky of Stone - great books!

Everyone should see this film
In 1957 the Soviet Union launched Sputnik into space and inspired a boy and a nation. Homer Hickman(Gyllenhaal) was a humble kid who dreamed of getting out of his coal mine hometown. His father(Cooper)has different views for his son and wants him to get his head out of the stars. Homer takes the ridicule from his father and then puts out one of the greatest acts of persevarance ever told.

Jake Gyllenhaal is great. This is superb acting from this young man. He is one of the fastest rising stars in Hollywood and this is his humble beginnig. He plays Homer well. He plays off the other actors around him well. It's an emotional performance in an emotional tale.

Chirs Cooper is quickly becoming one of the best actors alive. His performance as Homer's dad is as good as his performance in American Beauty. Cooper truly becomes the character he plays and thats why he's one of the best actors living. I really think him and Gyllenhaal got snubbed by Oscars for not getting any recognition for there roles.

I love October Sky. It's a great movie about hard work and perseverance. Everyone should see this movie. It shows the american dream and what can happen if you have a goal and do everything you can to acheive it. This is a great family film and is one of the best movies ever made.

Inspiring... brilliant acting from Cooper and Gyllenhaal
While I do not see too many films when they are released in theaters, I raced out to catch this one because it seemed to carry such an inspiring message. I'll never forget the mamazing feeling in my heart when I left the movie theater that evening. I could not help but stare up into the sky, feeling like I could reach out and grab the stars.

Jake Gyllenhaal perfectly captures the essence of Homer Hickam. While the movie is heavy on melodrama, its perfectly necessary to get the message across. The life that was laid in front of Homer when he was born was not a pleasant one. He was going to work in the mines. His father knew, as did the whole town. But Homer doesn't accept this and his mother and teacher make sure that he does not quit.

Chris Cooper is unbelievable. I had not seen his previous work and had no idea who he was. After October Sky I pledged to never miss one of his films, and have yet to be disappointed.

The directing is a littleover-the-top and the screenplay had to do a lot of strecthing to make the movie accessible, but these changes do not detract from the story, they enhance it. Two scenes capture how this works. The "Rocket Boys" have been struggling with their propellant for a long time and can't get it right. Finally, they chance upon a solution that might work and when they got to test it, the entire high school and half the town is there to watch. Horrified at the prospect of screwing up in front of the entire town, Homer realizes he has no choice; he can't back down now. When the fuse is lit and the rocket soars perfectly into the sky, you heart swells with pride for what these boys accomplished.

And the final scene between Homer and his father still chokes me up as I think about it now. Homer has his speech where he thanks everyone and to his surprise, there is his father, who he invites to press the button to send the last rocket airborne. As his father watches the rocket fly, even he is impressed by what his son accomplishes and he lovingly puts his arm around his shoulders. A beautifully shot scene.

Now did these scenes happen exactly like this? The book shows us that they did not. But that doesn't matter. The art of film and the art of writing are completely different. The scenes are precisely what they need to be to put the message across visually. The emotions that these images provoke are visceral, and that is why the movie is so powerful.

The supporting cast are wonderfully understated, especially Laura Dern and Chris Owen. The movies beutifully shot and the screenplay is a nice adaptation of a book that is difficult to visualize. Thank you to all involved for giving me a movie that makes me cry every time I watch. I look forward to watching this movie with my children as they grow up.

Lloyd
Released in DVD by Monarch Home Video (23 July, 2002)
MPAA Rating: PG (Parental Guidance Suggested)
Director: Hector Barron
Starring: Todd Bosley and Brendon Ryan Barrett
In the wake of public school shootings, Lloyd provides an unsettling glimpse into the painful world of a sixth-grade boy who is picked on incessantly by school bullies. Problem is, the film is supposed to be a coming-of-age comedy. While it doesn't condone such bullying behavior, it passes it off as typical adolescent antics, and rarely does an adult intervene. The result is a disappointing 72 minutes of vulgarity and gallows humor. Todd Bosley (Little Giants) plays the title character, a lanky, insecure kid who ends up in a special education class with other subpar students, Troy and Carla. Lloyd's difficulties multiply when a beautiful redhead named Tracey joins the class; he is at once smitten in a one-sided infatuation. To win Tracey's favor, Lloyd must contend with the school's brazen intimidator, a hunky rebel named Storm. In his quest to gain friends and an ounce of coolness, Lloyd needs a miracle--or perhaps a bit of magic--which comes from an unlikely magician, played by Tom Arnold in a cameo appearance. The deplorable plot isn't helped by a slew of clichéd adult characters, including teachers portrayed as mean-spirited numskulls and parents as insensitive dolts. A search for the film's redeeming merits is futile, despite an earnest attempt by Arnold to pull it out of the dregs. Parents can expect dissing, profanity, potty talk, and lots of impudent behavior. --Lynn Gibson

Lloyd
I've never written a review before, but after reading the Editor's comments, I had to reply. I don't know if the reviewer is come kind of extreme, obsessive, political correctness zealot, but my family, which includes 8 and 10 year old girls, really enjoyed this movie. It was funny, and in many ways true to life. True, a couple of the sceens with the bully showed him as mean spirited, but that's life. This actually gave me a great opportunity to discuss this type of behavior with my children and discuss how to best avoid and/or deal with it. Unfortunately, in the real world, things like this actually happen. Very enjoyable movie, definitely recommended.

A universally wonderful film
One of the true signs of great storytelling is if you can connect with different people on different levels. This movie does just that. The humor is universal, and there is plenty here for both children and adults. I loved this movie, and actually sent it to a friend of mine as a wedding present. They loved it as well.
Lloyd looks at the life of a upbeat geeky kid and his attempt to win the girl of his dreams, and just try and fit in. I think everybody who has ever been 11, or will ever be 11, can relate to this story. I know it brought back memories of my own childhood and my first crush. It shows kids that there are obstacles that you have to face growing up, and it shows Lloyd facing and overcoming them. It's a good life lesson, and one of the few films that parents can and will want to watch with their children. It doesn't get burdened down with overly complex characters, and that is part of its charm. You never hear kids say that their teacher is "Stern but fair." Nope. They say that the teacher is just mean.
I think one thing that most children's programs miss today is that they don't have to make everything so sterile for the children that parents will hate to watch it. Watch an old Muppets rerun and you'll know what I mean. The Muppets were entertaining to all ages because they were just funny. Like old Warner Brothers cartoons. They were just funny. There wasn't a focus group targeting them specifically for one demographic. They just made them funny, and everybody loved them. Just like Lloyd.
Hands down: It's a great movie.

MASTERPIECE, CLASSIC AND A WORK OF GENISIS
None of the above words best describe this film cause it is truley original this film should be shown to all kids in school cause it inspired me to change my life along with my best friend grahem.

Steven Speilberg, Martin Scrosese, Stanley kubrick shouldn't have wasted their time making ET, Taxi Driver or 2001 and worked on this masterpeice cause then they would have got somewhere this should be kept in the Vatican film vault so that futre generations can experience LLOYD it is as powerful as Jesus himself.

The Oscars should go as follows Best Actor Todd Bosley Best Director and Best Screenplay got to Hector Barron he should have made Star Wars then it would money. Best Actress Mary Mara Best Supporting Actor goes to finally after all the years he carried Seagal, Brando, De miro to convincing performances TOM " the God" ARNOLD

Move over The Godfather there is a new Best Film of all time and its called
LLOYD

when i have kids i hope it ones as good looking as TODD BOSLEY

Dedicated to Grahem

When i get married i'm going to have a kid as good looking as Lloyd

Starring: Lori Loughlin and Bart Conner

This Movie Rocks...
This is the PERFECT movie for that wannbe BMX Freesyler/Racer that could never really do it, like me. I grew up in the 80's so it was NOTHING but bikes, a.t.v.'s (Which were too expensive) and skating. There were NO rollerblades, the boards were terrible and the bikes were heavy. But STILL these guys were doing tricks, like the 360¢ª flips that you often see on the X-Games. But these guys, Bart Taylor, were doing this stuff 20 years ago. This movie gets mad props! I just want it to be on DVD already, C'Mon!

one of a kind
Rad is one of a kind. I have never seen anyother movie that show as many different variations of bike riding then this one did. Though it was made wiut a while ago it is still really good. I concider it to be one of the the classics. I like how the two different yet the same type of people do what they like and be so ruthless to each other.

RAD, one of the best movies ever made
Rad, was and is one of the best movies I remember seeing as a kid. I use to hangout with my friends and watch Cru race for all of us. It was a movie where we could watch someone else do what we could not do. After this movie you always wanted to be able to ride your bike just like Cru...Beating Bart Conner and the rest of the bikers was the best. Defying the mother to go race instead of taking the ACTs. If you have not seen it you should. I hope they put it on DVD. I will be one of the first to buy it.

Nickelback - Live at Home
Released in DVD by Universal Music & VI (29 October, 2002)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Filmed in their hometown of Edmonton, Alberta, Nickelback prove they can rock just as hard live as on record. Aside from the fact that Live at Home features their biggest hits, like "Leader of Men" (from 2000's The State) and "How You Remind Me" (from 2001's Silver Side Up), the sound quality and production values are topnotch. For the most part, this is a straightforward performance (with the exception of a few pyrotechnics)--something fans have grown to expect from Nickelback--but there are a few surprises. "Where Do I Hide" is an extra-long version, so that lead singer-guitarist Chad Kroeger can jump off the stage (security in tow) to mingle with the crowd; "It Ain't Like That" features a vocal from Alice in Chains' Jerry Cantrell, who takes the band into a darker, more groove-heavy direction; and "Mistake" is acoustic. Live at Home is an essential document for the Nickelback fan. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

A. Yushkov, this is for you...
Go to hell, dude...
You talk about musicianship??? And you dare to name Led Zeppelin? Got some names for you, and some of them are even older that your beloved Page, and Plant: Bach, Mozart, Zappa, Vai, Pastorius...
If you wanna talk about the quality of music, rather than listening and enjoying it, then first learn something about it. Otherwise, shut up, and stop talking like you knew something...
I hate all of you who claim to understand music, when never have listened to something a little bit complex, like a 7/8...
Anyway, Nickelback rocks, and that's for y'all.

One awesome DVD!
