MPAA Rating: R (Restricted)
Director: Martin Scorsese
Starring: Robert De Niro, Sharon Stone, and Joe Pesci
Average review score:

2 great movies from 2 great actors
casino (de niro) is a slow goodfellas (has the same actors > de niro, pesci; and director > scorsese).. but its still a great movie, it has great acting, directing, and story.

carlito's way (pacino) seems like its a sequal to scarface (which also stars pacino, & also directed by de palma). like casino, carlito's way is a slower paced version of its previous counterpart, but its still a great movie.

...too bad warner brothers and universal cant get together and produce a GOODFELLAS/SCARFACE value pack, now thats a set i would definately buy if i already didnt own them

Pacino/DeNiro - - heaven sent double pack
The Casino/Carlito's Way dvd two pack is superb. What better can you get than two dvd's starring two of the best actors in existence?

Dragon Ball Z - Frieza - Revealed
Released in DVD by Goldmine (10 July, 2001)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Director: Daisuke Nishio
In these episodes of the popular action-adventure series, Krillin, Piccolo, Vegeta, and Gohan square off against the sniggering Frieza, one of the most grating villains in all anime. As the individual titles suggest, Frieza increases his power by metamorphosing, growing spikier before assuming his familiar, smooth, white-and-purple form. Piccolo fused with Nail to tackle the villain, but he still isn't strong or fast enough to overcome him, despite assistance from the valiant young Gohan. Vegeta plans to play both ends against the middle: by tricking Krillin and Dende into transforming him into a Super-Saiyan, he hopes to gain the power to defeat Frieza, then destroy everyone else. Will he succeed? Typically, there are plenty of screams, explosions, and flying fists in Dragon Ball Z shows, but the characters end up almost exactly where they began 60 minutes earlier. Unrated: suitable for ages 8 and up; cartoon violence and very minor profanity. --Charles Solomon

The Many Forms of Frieza
This DVD is great, Frieza goes from his second form to his final form throughout these 3 episodes. There's lots of action and great music. Although the voice acting isn't that great during this period, the Japanese version makes up for it. I really wish Funimation would put some new extras on these DVDs. My ultimate goal is to get all of the episodes on DVD and I'm getting tired of the same old commercials as extras. It would be nice if they added character profiles or interviews with the voice actors or something.

Piccolo's Revenge Continue
DragonballZ Frieza Revealed is a great DVD to own if you want to collect all of Dragonballz DVD's also if you like Piccolo. It starts of where the battle with Piccolo and Frieza left off in Transformation. Also Frieza transforms into his utlimate form and battles Vegeta the Prince of all Saiyans. Try to Collect the all of the DBZ DVD's because they include the orginal Japanese version.

DBZ-Vol.7:Destruction
DBZ has been called the greastest action cartoon of all time. I must agree. The movies consist of the adventures of Goku and his friends as they try to save the Earth. They have supe -human powers to help them. In Vol 7 the fight to save Earth from the evil Sayians begins. It doesn't look good for the Earthlins. Goku, where are you?

its okay..................
I think DBZ RULES! with a capital R! I asked my mum for me to buy it and she said if I had enough money and I do and im gonna buy IT someday. I think that NAPA is COOOOOL!And VEEJETA HE's cool too! ITS about this guy named GOKU. HE LOOKES LIKE a girl but I was mistaken. He doesn't want to join back with the sayains so he fights them.(geewiz I'd just join with them save the hard work of blood and guts and stains on your pants DONT YOU HATE IT WHEN THAT HAPPENS!)

Good clean fun
This fifth installment of the KotC series of mixed martial arts action continues to improve. Unfortunately, this time, there are no guest celebrity commentators, leaving Don Wilson and Eddie Bravo to their own devices, not that that's necessarily a bad thing. There are about twelve fights, including a fascinating bout between Dean Lister and John Jensen where not a single strike is thrown. Instead, the fight is a fast and technical bout where the athletes trade submission attempts. Other great fights include Jerry Bohlander's return to MMA in a bloody battle against Brian Foster, and Chris Brennan's title defense against Joe Hurley, a young Lion's Den fighter. Good action overall, with plenty of knockouts, tapouts, and hard-won decisions.

KOTC puts on the BEST Mixed Martial Arts shows in the US!
King of the Cage is the best American Mixed Martial Arts show out there! The level of their fighter and the way they present the show is far above the UFC. And now that the King of the Cage has teamed up with the PRIDE orginazation, there is no telling what might be next on American soil. Could it be Sakuraba vs. Tito Ortiz. I guess we will have to wait and see!

The only problem I have with the DVD version is that you only get 10 of the 12 fight. I dont know why they could not have added them on as well. I have all the other King of the Cage events on VHS, and all the fights are included.

FOR WHAT IT IS?? IT'S A GOOD MOVIE
No. It's no gem. Not well written. An horribly uninteresting story line. Could've been spiced up a little more... No, a lot more. Absolutely no conflict, at all.

Yet, for what it is... A beautiful movie. The women are gorgeous (especially Kimberly Rowe) and the scenes are effective and beautiful. All in all, because of Kimberly Rowe, I'm glad I bought the DVD.

Excellent format for DVD, great music and action
Good cast and excellent music make this DVD a good purchase. Kim Yates is hot! Setting really adds to the film. Playboy should focus attention towards this type of production in the future.

Better than the first. Still flawed, though.
...P>A quick synopsis...I liked this much better than the first...the characters weren't as dull or paper-thin. There was more going on in this movie. It was not just "let's see how fast we can get to the next scene with guys in their underwear". The plot is flawed by silly dialouge, and bad direction. Not really a horror movie...it still delivers on a small level...

Another homoerotic horror film from DeCoteau
This is the second film in the "Brotherhood" series of low budget homoerotic horror films directed by David DeCoteau. I preordered it on the strength of the amazingly sexy stills and trailer I've seen. It looks as if this will be even more fun than the first Brotherhood. Cuter guys, more underwear scenes, two warlocks in the bedchamber with one woman, etc. By the way, if you're interested in the original entry in the series please be aware that there are several films with the same or similar titles. If you're looking for sexy vampires running around in their boxer briefs then you want the one directed by DeCoteau, who also made the infamous "Voodoo Academy".

The Rifleman (Vol. 2)

What happens when "a poor, raggedy-old private from the Confederates" and "a big important general from the North" spend the night at McCain's ranch, stop being polite, and start to get real? You get "The Sheridan Story," one of five vintage, black and white 1958-'59 episodes from this classic Western series' first and second seasons. Chuck Connors stars in his signature role as Lucas McCain, who settles down on a North Fork, New Mexico, ranch with his son Mark (Johnny Crawford). In these episodes, outlaws and hired guns keep McCain and his trusty Winchester busy, while Mark learns about manhood ("It's staying alive and in your right senses," McCain explains). A highlight of this collection is Vic Morrow doing his Brando bit as Johnny Cotton, who buys himself a lot of trouble when he robs McCain and steals his rifle in "The Angry Gun." Sam Peckinpah directed "The Money Gun," in which ornery cuss and McCain nemesis Oat Jackford stands up to a gunman hired to kill him. "The Mind Reader" boasts appearances by John Carradine, as a traveling showman, and Michael Landon, as a young man falsely accused of murder. But the best is saved for last. "Bloodlines," directed by Arthur Hiller, stars Buddy Hackett--yes, Buddy Hackett-- in a guest appearance as the brutal patriarch who comes gunning for McCain when one of his three psychopathic sons is killed in a bar shootout. For Rifleman fans, these episodes are of the highest caliber. --Donald Liebenson

A little short on action...
The Rifleman Volume 2 contains five more episodes of the popular series, but the overall quality of the episodes is not as good as the Volume 1 collection. If not for the presence of a couple of really nasty villains, and some hilarious outtakes, you could probably pass on this disc. Here's a rundown of the episodes with my ratings from one to five.

The Angry Gun (5): Vic Morrow stars as an escaped outlaw, who has stolen both Lucas McCain's money, and his precious Winchester. Morrow is marvelous, exuding pure evil, and showing little feeling for either friend or foe. He is about to finish off the Rifleman with his own gun, when Lucas's just in the nick of time ingenuity saves the day.

The Sheridan Story (2): This one is aimed at the heart. A disabled Confederate veteran turns up at the McCain ranch. Later, General Sheridan, the man who wounded him also arrives at the McCain's. Both men confront their past deeds, reflect on the tragedy of war, and then even begin to try to heal old wounds. This one's short on action and long on words.

The Money Gun (2): Jackford is a man with a lot of enemies. One of them brings hired gun, Tom King (John Dehner) into town to kill Jackford. King and McCain are old acquaintances who don't like each other. Lucas and Micah must do what is necessary to keep the peace. Too much posturing, and not much tension in this one. The ending is weak. Not one of Peckinpah's better efforts.

The Mind Reader (2): A man is shot in the back on the streets of South Fork, and a young Michael Landon is held for the crime. Lucas tries to find out who really did the deed. John Carradine is a travelling mind reader who seems to know something about who committed the crime. Though the identity of the real killer is a surprise, the episode really doesn't deliver much of a punch.

Bloodlines (4): Three brothers take things a little too far in the town saloon, and one brother ends up dead when Lucas and Micah intervene. Funnyman Buddy Hackett guest stars as Daniel Malakie, the father of the boys. And Pa is in a mean and nasty mood. First it's a jailbreak and then cold-blooded murder, as the Malakie's go on a rampage of revenge. This one has plenty of action, with the scruffy Hackett even getting a much-needed bath.

Volume 2 has bonus features, the most notable is a four minute long clip of outtakes that gives you a real taste of what the set was probably like. Very funny, with music track, and lots and lots of profanity. The Rifleman set was probably one big "boys club", with too many guys cooped up together, for too long. So we get Chuck Connors joking about kissing other men, and swearing up a storm. Great fun, but definitely not for the kids.

I've said before, this is mainly for the guys. Once again, almost no women are featured in these episodes. Only one actress even has any lines! Get this one only if you're a hardcore fan, otherwise wait for Volumes 3 and 4.

We hope for further volumes in this outstanding series!
MPI Home Video breaks new and welcome ground with the launching of a series of classic television programs in a DVD format for the home entertainment market. The Rifleman was one of the most popular of the westerns that dominated a early decade of American television and starred Chuck Connors as Lucas McCain and Johnny Crawford as his son, Mark McCain. In Volume 2 (0-7886-0323-X, [amt.], 145 minutes) we are treated to "The Angry Gun"; "The Sheridan Story"; "The Money Gun"; The Mind Reader"; and "Bloodlines". The DVD format allows viewer bonuses which include cast biographies, a Rifleman photo gallery; episode outakes, and English subtitles option for the hearing impaired. We can only hope for further volumes in this outstanding western series drawn from television's yesteryears!

Richard Matheson's classic episode "Mute"
A classic episode from Richard Matheson stands out on Volume 28 of the DVD series of "The Twilight Zone." Used car salesman Harvey Hunnicut (Jack Carson), buys a haunted Model A that forces him to tell "The Whole Truth," written by Rod Serling. Of course, this means Harvey is never going to sell another car unless he comes up with some way of unloading this unique auto. This is one of the Zone episodes that was videotaped. Richard Matheson's classic episode "Mute" is one of the even rarer first-rate hour-long episodes, based on one of his short stories. Ann Jillian plays Ilse Nielsen, a 12-year-old girl who is raised in a telepathic community. When her parents are killed in a fire, Ilse is placed with a foster family who are appalled to find that she was never taught to speak, read or write. The element of horror in this tale is that Ilse's new community is going to make her conform, no matter what. Ann Blyth stars in "Queen of the Nile" as movie star Pamela Morris. In this script by Jerry Sohl, a young columnist named Jordan Herrick (Lee Philips), discovers that Pamela looks just as young and as beautiful as she did when she starred in the 1940 film "Queen of the Nile." Herrick uncovers her secret, which, of course, he does not live long to regret. The other two Zones are average episodes at best, but "Mute" is a real gem by a master storyteller.

Twilight zone fan right here
Very good video if your a fan of the series. I really enjoyed "Mute" it is one of the best epsidoes in my opinion. I dont want to give any plots away but this is a good video to get

Twilight Zone Vol 40
Released in DVD by Image Entertainment (16 January, 2001)

"Cavender Is Coming"
Twilight Zone creator Rod Serling fashioned this episode as a pilot for a possible series about a guardian angel (jowly veteran Jesse White) who must earn his wings by aiding a hapless human. It is abundantly clear why this premise did not take flight, for this was one of Serling's typically lumpish flings at comedy. The only source of interest is Carol Burnett, cast as a klutz who can't keep a job. This one's a virtual remake of an earlier Zone episode, "Mr. Bevis."

"Passage on the Lady Anne"
An hour-long episode from the fourth season, with Joyce Van Patten and Lee Philips as a couple trying to save their sour marriage via a transatlantic cruise. All the other passengers just happen to be extremely elderly; no points for guessing the Lady Anne might be on her way to an otherworldly port. A familiar but appealing set-up, with gobs of foggy atmosphere and a fun supporting cast (including mischievous Wilfrid Hyde-White). The businessman husband is yet another opportunity for TZ to criticize its era's obsession with material success and the Organization Man.

"The Brain Center at Whipple's"
Produced near the end of the series' run, this episode is out of gas. Richard Deacon, a comic actor with a pronounced resemblance to a large bald penguin (and a cherished mainstay of The Dick Van Dyke Show), plays a company executive who decides to replace his workers with computers. The payoff is entirely predictable, although sci-fi fans will be pleased by the "actor" who appears in the final shot. --Robert Horton

Average review score:

Despite Carol Burnett, a below-average set of Zones
Volume 40 in "The Twilight Zone" DVD collection certainly offers an assortment of episodes from the classic television series, although none of them comes close to qualifying as a classic Zone. Carol Burnett is klutzy usherette Agnes Grep in "Cavender Is Coming," written by Rod Serling, who loses her job and meets Cavender (Jesse White), a bungling angel. Cavender gives Agnes a fortune and a mansion, but the catch is that none of her old friends remember her and they no longer adore her. Serling wrote this episode specifically for Burnett, although the story is obviously borrowed from "Mr. Bevis," which was a failed attempt at a pilot. However, surprisingly, the script handicaps the comedienne way too much and this is just not as funny as it should be. "Passage on the Lady Anne," written by Charles Beaumont, finds ambitious Allan Ransome (Lee Philips) having to go to Europe on business. In a last-ditch effort to save their marriage, his wife Eileen (Joyce Van Patten), demands to go on the trip and to be allowed to pick the form of transportation. She picks the Lady Anne, the slowest ship afloat. However, the couple soon agree to divorce, which devastates Eileen. But the Lady Anne was one a ship reserved for lovers and all the other passengers are 75 years old taking a final cruise on the ship, and they decide to help the young couple. The supporting cast of elderly actors including Wilfrid Hyde-White, Cecil Kellaway, Gladys Cooper and Alan Napier are joys to see and make this one of the few tolerable hour-long Zone episodes. Finally, Serling's "The Brain Center at Whipple's" finds callous factory owner Wallace V. Whipple (Richard Deacon) has completely automated his factory, putting thousands out of work. Of course, since this is the Zone, irony will come calling on Whipple. A rather predictable outting. Although I like "Passage on the Lady Anne," this is a below average collection of Zone episodes.

A good Mixture of Episodes
CAVENDER IS COMING seems to have some inspiration from Frank Capra's "It's A Wonderful Life" as angel Jesse White must earn his wings by aiding a screwball human played by Carol Burnett. This is one of the few episodes that I saw for the first time ever on this DVD. My original expectations were low, but I was pleasantly surprised by some innovative photography, stunts and Burnett's excellent performance. Rod Serling actually wrote a very good comic episode from which the viewer can actually make parallels to real life situations thanks in part to Burnett's energetic approach to her part. Greatly underrated. PASSAGE ON THE LADY ANNE credited to writer Charles Beaumont from the 4th Season is an interesting story of a troubled couple's (Joyce Van Patten and Lee Phillips) attempt to rekindle their marriage aboard an antiquated ocean liner the Lady Anne. However, the antiquated ship's passengers consist solely of the elderly. The cast really makes this an enjoyable episode. It includes Wilfred Hyde-White, Gladys Cooper, Cecil Kellaway and Alan Napier. THE BRAIN CENTER AT WHIPPLE'S written by Rod Serling for the 5th Season seems to tread familiar territory which had been previously visited and done much better. It focuses on industry, man and machines. It features Richard Deacon, Paul Newlan, Ted DeCorsia and Burt Conroy. I never met an episode of the "Twilight Zone" that I didn't like. I just like some more than others. I am sure that for some people this episode holds some endearment. And that is the magic of the "Twilight Zone."
