Playboy - 2000 Playmate of the Year: Jodi Ann Paterson

MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Starring: Jodi Ann Paterson

WOW! HOT!
I have to recommend this video to all! Jodi Ann Patterson is not
just a pretty face she had sense and substance to her revealing of herself not just in words but how and why Playboy.
If you like tan, good personality and beautiful body you will like this video. especially her attending Oregon State mmmmm!
I was impressed with the tastefully done chapters on this DVD. I think women and men would enjoy this video, the music and the interviews are good. I wish that she had more scenes like with water and a hose or sponge! baths/washing a car is always good!
I would of liked more kitty shots tastefully done of Jodi that would of been good and I would of definitely gave it 5 stars!
but this is definitely one for your collection! This is my first Playboy Video on DVD! Look forward in seeing more of Jodi!
And by the way love that Tattoo of a chili pepper on her backside! HOT STUFF!

Great DVD
This is a great DVD. Jodi Ann is very sexy. Jodi Ann makes this DVD as it only has average music and story line. Plenty of nice shots of everything. Very tastefully done. I am a big fan of the normal busty blond playmates and did not know how I would like Jodi Ann but she is worth the price of admission. The scene where she is a news anchor woman and then.....well you'll have to buy the DVD to find out.

Jodi's great but Brooke is...damn!
I have to admit that though I dig Jodi Ann Patterson, Brooke Richards blew me away with her video. If there was a prototype blonde goddess with EVERYTHING body-wise, she would be IT! All her segments had serious sexual heat! She should have been Playmate Of The Year 2000 but I guess Playboy wanted to have someone different. Love Jodi but Brooke is EROTIC HEAVEN!

Juliet Coriega - Luminous Goddess/Sweet, Girl Next Door
This is the first Penthouse video I have purchased; and it's wonderful.

Thank God I live in a time where cultural mores let a girl like Juliet be comfortable with sharing her precious treasures and technology enables her to do so; and thank God I'm still young enough to appreciate it.

I fell in love with Juliet in the final scene, which is in a pool in the evening. The other two girls, probably more typical Penthouse Pets, are gorgeous as well, but they prattle inanely about sex, while Juliet just stands in the luminous moonlight.

If you have a heart and love beauty, you will fall in love with her.

Don't miss it.

Juliet Coriega - Luminous Goddess/Sweet Girl Next Door
This is the first Penthouse DVD I have purchased; and it's wonderful.

Thank God the mores and technology of our culture have finally arrived at the time when someone so sweet and sexy and beautiful as Juliet feels comfortable sharing her priceless treasures with us and can do so; and thank God I am still alive to witness it and young enough to appreciate it!

It was in the final scene where all three were in the pool in the evening when I fell in love with her. The other two, gorgeous girls, but more what you would think of as typical Penthouse Playmates, prattle inanely about sex, while Juliet just stands luminous in the moonlight.

If you have a heart and love beauty, you will fall in love with her.

Don't miss it.

Still the one
Viewers loved this one when it came out, and three years later it's still the best of Penthouse's Pet of the Year releases. It's got three great-looking models, interesting photography, great locations, and a fine musical soundtrack. And we get to hear the Pets talk. It also marked the beginning of Penthouse's frequent use of explicit rear-view shots, a welcome trend that has continued in more recent DVDs. Last, but certainly not least, it stars the incomparable Juliet Cariaga. Her opening scene, in which she plays a randy desperado, will be a favorite for a long time to come. Let's hope we don't have to wait another millennium for Penthouse to pull together another POTY production as enjoyable as this one.

2000 Year Old Man
Released in DVD by Rhino (26 February, 2002)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Starring: C Reiner and M Brooks
Average review score:

Great comedy ruined
Get tapes or CDs of this fabulous material. Forget the VHS/animation; it severely distracts from the great comedy. The extra touches and music on the VHS are downright annoying.

Brilliant Comedy
The 2000 year old man is a classic comedy routine by Carl Reiner and Mel Brooks. Reiner is the straight man as an interviewer to Brooks' recently discovered 2000 year old man. The original comedy bit is matched up to appropriate animation, illustrating the man's memories that he shares with Reiner. Our 2000 year old citizen laments bad choices, wishing he had gone into the Cross business instead of sticking with making Stars of David, "Who knew it would be such a hit?" trashing historical and mythical figures (Robin Hood) "stole from everybody and kept everything" and dispensing advice for long life, "I never run for a bus." When the 2000 year old man lists saran wrap as mankind's greatest achievment a stunned interviewer asks, "what about space?" to which he replies, "that was good." The inflections in the voices and the comedic timing is a joy to experience, a perfect duo. Truly marvelous and belongs in your permanent collection.

A lion is biting my leg off...somebody call a cop!
For years Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner did their classic comedy routine abut the 2000 Year Old Man, a crotchety old man who has a long list of things to complain about. Brooks does the old man and Reiner the interviewer who asks the set-up questions. What is neat about this video version is that animator Leo Salkin took a live concert recording of the comedy routine and came up with his own visual interpretation of the bit, throwing in plenty of his own animated gags just to keep the comedy rolling. The original routine is hysterical enough, but Salkin simply layers on more laughs. Just think of this as the original "Fun With Audio" video!

The Artist - Rave un2 The Year 2000
Released in DVD by Image Entertainment (31 October, 2000)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Starring: Prince
Back in 1983, Prince emphatically described how he was going to bring in the new millennium. Still, who knew "1999" would be so prophetic? Who knew Prince would still be around to make good on his promise? It's doubtful you were sitting home, watching a pay-per-view special on the last night of 1999, but know this: The Artist, Prince--whatever he's calling himself on a daily basis--understands how to throw one amazing party. This DVD not only presents the entire 21-song pay-per-view in its entirety, but also includes behind-the-scenes interviews and adds additional jams featuring Jimmy Russell, bassist Larry Graham, and George Clinton. Clinton is the key figure here, because over the last decade, Prince has essentially followed in the funk master's footsteps. Rather than just fronting a band (as he did with the Revolution and New Power Generation), Prince is now more of a bandleader. Here, surrounded by legends like Maceo Parker and members of Sly and the Family Stone, Prince displays the graciousness of a sideman, showcasing the musicians on his crowded stage. He offers backup vocals on the Family Stone's "Everyday People," and then plays cheerleader on "I Want to Take You Higher." Prince even gives up his stage to Lenny Kravitz for "American Woman," and to the Time for energetic, tongue-in-cheek versions of the hits "Jungle Love" and "The Bird." When taking center stage, Prince shows he hasn't lost a step either. His guitar playing on "Purple Rain," for example, is some of his strongest in years. All told, this is the best Prince concert film we've had since Sign O' the Times. --Dave McCoy

Until they release "Sign" on DVD... buy this one
As a Prince fan from way back, I have to admit that I've been pretty lax in my purchases of late. "The Rainbow Children" was an interesting foray into his jazz fetishes, while "Rave Unto The Joy Fantastic" (his attempt at 'Santana'-type blockbuster status once more) was capable at best, but I haven't been as interested as I once was... why?

It's because of that elusive 'live' gig.

With "Sign 'O' The Times" still out there on laserdisc and VHS, and a plethora of perfect-sounding/masterfully performed bootlegs out there, I can't give this 5 stars, because it's far from perfect, but for now, it will do.

With the exception of the drummer and the pointless go-go dancing foils, Prince's line-up for this performance is pretty solid. Larry Graham especially shines, no matter how mannered and overdone these particular songs might be in the Prince live show. Highlights: "Everyday People", "American Woman", "Red House", "She's Always In My Hair", "Raspberry Beret", "Purple Rain", and "The Cross/Christ".

The lowlights? An excess of religion (although nobody should be surprised by this), a lack of really EXTENDED jams as on the '88 Lovesexy tour, and unnecessarily spotless production. It should sound a lot grittier at times, but doesn't.

prince be the one with the funky music so RAVE!!!!!!!!
DAMN!!!!!! prince can throw a party ! At his own paisley park studio! he Recorded a unforgetable PErformance. He Sung like he never sung before he danced like he never danced before he played his guitar like he never played before and he can still do those damn SplitS!This is honestly the last concert you'll ever see prince perform like this! Buy this! and your going to want to RAVE!

10 STARS FOR THIS JEWEL.
IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A GREAT MOMENT OF MUSIC, DON'T LOSE TIME NO MORE, YOU GOT IT ! THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST DVD I HEARD IN THE LAST FEW YEARS. PRINCE IS A GREAT GUITARIST AND SHOWMAN. GREAT MUSICIANS ARE ON STAGE TOO, MACEO PARKER, LARRY GRAHAM, GEORGE CLINTON...YOU CAN BUY THIS DVD ONLY FOR THE KILLER PURPLE RAIN VERSION, BUT GOOD NEWS, YOU HAVE ALSO 22 OTHER TRACKS ON IT.

The Vienna Philharmonic - New Year's Concert 2000
Released in DVD by Emd/Emi Classics (07 November, 2000)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Director: Brian Large
Since 1941, the first great event in the classical calendar has been the New Year's Strauss concert by the Vienna Philharmonic. January 1, 2000 marked the end of the "Strauss year," 1999 being the centenary of the death of "Waltz King" Johann Strauss II and the 150th anniversary of the passing of his father, Johann Strauss. The previous May, the Vienna Philharmonic gave an outdoor Johann Strauss Gala, though only "The Blue Danube" waltz and "Radetzky March" overlap with this New Year's Concert. Here the orchestra gives an infectiously warm and confident performance, from the opening "Lagunen" waltz to the utterly exuberant "Eljen a Magjar!" polka. Mixing well-loved gems with such rarities as the "Albion" and "Hellenen" polkas, this music-making is a real delight, the lavishly garlanded hall as ravishing to the eye as the music to the ear. In homage to 2001: A Space Odyssey, "The Blue Danube" is wittily shot as a series of graceful aerial pans across the outside of the Musikverein concert hall and over Vienna itself. Riccardo Muti, conducting his third Vienna New Year's concert, thoroughly enjoys himself, and it is clear everyone else does too. --Gary S. Dalkin, Amazon.co.uk

Not good
If you are looking for some of the most scintillating and idiomatic Strauss playing in resent times. I would stick to the VPO and Carlos Kleiber. Once heard, all others pale in comparison.

A terrific concert.
This is a great DVD of a great concert filmed in the Grosse Saal, Musikerein, Vienna on January 1, 2000. Riccardo Muti is great.

The program and the orchestra are terrific with some new pieces that were never performed at a New Year's Concert. There is the "Morning, Noon, and Night in Vienna Overture" which I love. And there are others also to be enjoyed.

In the "An der schonen blauen Donau", the cammeramen take us on a tour of some acoustics, places in Vienna, sunsets/rises in fast-foward, and of the opera house/concert hall that the concert is being performed in.

The ballet in the "Ritter Pasman: Csardas" is terrific and extremly well done.

This DVD is to be enjoyed for many generations to come, and probably to become the most popular and favorite among millions of people. Please buy it, and you'll not regret it...ever...

Very enjoyable.... anytime...
I like to watch this DVD whenever I have some extra time. The tracks mainly consist of waltzes and polkas, which amuse me with easy feeling. In particular I love to see the two tracks with multi angles which feature ballet to the music. The photography during the rendition of "On the beautiful blue Donau" is spectacular. Of course to see the very last track "Radetzky March" is also a pleasure. The audience claps in accordance with Muti's conducting. This also includes one "serious" music called "Ein Morgen, ein Mittag, ein Abend in Wien", an overture by Suppe, which is so beautiful and dramatic. I think Muti is charismatic when conducting and did a great job in the concert.

The video/audio quaity is outstandng. The picture has 16:9 letterbox format and the sound format has both 5.1 DD and lineat PCM stereo, which I prefer for classical music.

So... I am sure this DVD can be an all time favorite for anyone who loves music and "peace".

Penthouse: Pet of the Year Play-Off 2000
Released in DVD by Image Entertainment (26 October, 1999)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Average review score:

Bad.
I have seen all POY Playoffs available. And I have to say that this is the worst I have seen so far. Uninspired.Bad sound. And the girls are not what you would expect.

Decent
This isnt the worst Playoff Video I have seen. However, its not thebest either. . . this in no way as good as Playoff 1999, with SamanthaMichaels. Simply put, the two best videos ever made from Penthouse isPlayoff 99' , and Pet of the Year and Friends with Paige Summers. Yummy, those will rock your world.

If you like Juliette and Alexus, then this is a must...
If you are as in love as I with Pet of the Year 2000 video models Juliet and Alexus or just prefer non-sleazy models with natural bodies, you don't want to overlook this title for your library. Overall, it's not as good as Pet of the Year 2000, but it's plenty meaty all the same; lots of great behind shots if you go in that; lots of great closeups. There's this one scene in particular set in sultry graveyard where the model, symbolically crying out in torment of the soul, opens both her mouths in unison- now thats haunting. If you like Penthouse video, this title is very satisfying, definitely in my top 3.

Playboy - Playmate of the Year 2000: The Bernaola Twins, Video Centerfold
Released in DVD by Image Entertainment (25 July, 2000)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Average review score:

Lukewarm at best
High production values, as always, but otherwise very lukewarm. The twins are attractive, but the best thing about them is their centrefold shot. There is no spark here, and no erotic tension that is really required for the twin and sister thing to work. Don't even mention this vid in the same breath as Playboy's Twins & Sisters Too from 1996. Umph!
