The Firm: Body Sculpt
Released in DVD by Good Times Video (15 April, 2003)
MPAA Rating: Unrated

Awesome!
This is a great exercise video. Jen takes you through a challenging workout that slims and scuplts all the right parts of the lower and upper body. It can be intnese but she does recommend that if weights are too heavy for any portion to lighten them or use none at all and follow the modiifed versions with Libby. I love the leg press and the stretches in this video. They have slimmed my legs and have helped me to drop 4 dress sizes in one month and a half. The Firm gaurantees visible results in 10 workouts and i have it.

What a workout!
This is by far one of the hardest of the new FIRM workouts. Jennifer Carmen takes you through the lower body work, which is really tough, and then upper body work. You can do them on different days or together. The lower body segment is the best. It beats the FIRMs older Lower Body Split because it's just as effective but shorter and just so much better. You'll really shape your lower body with this one!

Help!! (Lat sau wui cheun)
Released in DVD by Tai Seng Video (14 August, 2001)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Directors: Johnny To and Ka-Fai Wai

Wonderful Movie!!!
The physicians of Sir Charley Ho Hospital are notorious slackers. Patients die, patients are misplaced, and doctors seem more interested in gambling and gossip than in saving lives! When a young female M.D. (Yan), who was a former patient starts working at SCH Hospital, she hopes to meet the doctor who once performed surgery on her. She has vowed if she can find the doctor who once told her "It's not easy being a doctor" she will marry him. Trouble is, there are two doctors Joe and Jim, and neither remember which one said it!

Thus begins a series of madcap adventures as Jim, Joe and Yan set about to reform the hospital staff to the best of their ability...Or die trying.

Okay... I really have to tell you folks, I loved Help!!! I'm a big fan of Chinese Drama and Help!!! is chock full of funny scenes, amusing situations and a really cute cast of characters. Ekin Cheng (Joe) is my number one favorite actor and he is suave debonair and charming in this film! This is a great film the entire family will enjoy. If you are a fan of romantic comedy, you will love this film!

... Julia Roberts.
I apologize for being so crude and crass but it disturbs me to no end that a talentless, cheesy, insufferable bore such as the aforementioned cranks out comedic drek with what seems like every month and a highly entertaining, subversive, intelligent comedy such as Help(USA title) languishes in obscurity. This production is far superior to anything she has done and i would say it is one of the most hilarious and entertaining comedies i've seen in some time. It's sad that some people will pass on a gem such as this because it boasts an all asian cast and it's subtitled. To those i say, you're missing out on a fun ride, this film never lets up for it's entire running time,it's one crazy situation after another,i was in stitches. It's about a group of doctors who work in an ER at a very busy hospital in HK.The senior members of the staff are cynical and lazy and this causes 2 bright young doctors to quit. When a fresh faced young female MD joins the staff she convinces them to once again work in the ER in an attempt to change and improve the reputation of the hospital and inspire the senior members to take their job seriously. What happens after that is a series of subversive situations(death and critical injury is used for comedic effect),that had my ribs aching. The cast is stellar, and even the residual characters get a chance to shine in this laughfest. As with most HK import DVD's there are scant extras(filmographies, talent bios,a couple of trailers),it's a bare bones effort, but the sound and picture quality is excellent, definitely above average and surprisingly the sound is an integral part of this film.If you don't mind reading subtitles and have been exposed to HK comedy in the past i highly recommend this gem.Even if you haven't,i'm sure you can relate to the predicaments that these characters find themselves in,it's a universal comedy and the director is proving to be a world class talent.

Tai Chi - Energy Training for Mind and Body, Vol. 2
Released in DVD by Golden Shadow Pict. (03 June, 2003)

Terrific....beauty and form in a great addition to Volume 1
Jayne Storey is an excellent instructor and this video shows different angles which are a great plus. Storey is graceful and the video is very well done in a beautiful outdoor environment. If you are into learning a graceful tai chi exercise, I would recommend volume 2.

-A Viewer

Love the Volume II and am satisfied with my second purchase.
Well, after purchasing volume 1, I wanted to go farther with my instruction.

I have just received Volume 2, and have tried it out. It is terrific. I was a bit apprehensive about advanced instruction, but the calming and careful approach of Ms. Storey is just the type of training I need.

I never imagined that I would enjoy Tai Chi. However, with these two excellent volumes, 1 and 2, I would recommend these DVDs to anyone who is interested in a gentle form of exercise. This is truly a great way to relieve stress and to get the physical energy that is needed to function at your best.

A final note: Buy Volumes I and II.

Wonderful DVD from Thomas the Tank Engine!
I LOVE Thomas the Tank Engine! I even have a few on video and DVD. This is a fun DVD! I enjoy watching the commercial at the beginning and can't believe the menu at the front! It's AWESOME!!!!!!

There are eleven different stories on this DVD. This movie is 47 minutes long, but it's a great experience for kids. As a matter of fact, I remenber when Thomas, Percy, Harry and Terrance helped give the villagers a Happy Thanksgiving!

There is a character gallary featuring info about Thomas, Percy, James, Bertiey, Harry the helicopter, Henry, Gorden, Toby, etc.

I hope you will enjoy this DVD as much as I do!

A good DVD or Video that can make you help other people out
This is a good collection of Thomas The Tank Engine Videos and DVDs for your Thomas fan. It can help you help your friends. Like if someone is upset or crying you can do something to help them out. You'll understand the facts of friendship when you buy this Thomas video on DVD or VHS. I understand it to when I bought the video.

Wonderful!
This is a wonderful teaching tool. I own several belly dancing teaching DVDs and this is by far the best. Ms. Mor makes you feel as if she is right there in your home, you would swear she is speaking directly to you. The moves are explained very well, in such a way that you feel you *can* do this, even when you feel clumsy at first. It is the most comprehensive DVD I have seen, when you are through you will have all the basics down and then some. Ms. Mor is very encouraging, understanding first the frustration and and then the elation when it comes together for you. I highly recommend it for all beginner and intermediate dancers!

Quick Fix - Stability Ball Workout
Released in DVD by Peter Pan Industries (28 January, 2003)
MPAA Rating: Unrated
There's no doubt that that adding an exercise ball to your routine will perk it up, but--depending on your sense of balance--it may also land you on the floor. Instructor Keli Roberts and her two able assistants make no such descents, but beginners are bound to wobble, which Roberts acknowledges with reassuring frequency. The three 10-minute workouts can be done individually or combined since they focus on different areas. Round 1 concentrates on the lower body with squats while holding the ball, balancing on it for a variation of the yoga bridge and squeezing it with the upper thighs. Workout 2 tones the arms and back by lifting dumbbells while sitting or leaning on the ball and using it for pushups. The final routine is specifically for the abs: sit-ups, curls, yoga's plank and downward dog, and Pilate's scissors--all atop the ball. Weights are recommended for the second routine. --Kimberly Heinrichs

Nice Change to the Typical Workout
This 30 minute workout is broken out into three, 10 minute segments that target first the lower body, then the upper body and lastly, the abs. The upper body portion is done using two sets of dumbbells; I used 5 and 8 lbs. You can choose to do one, two or all three segments. When I previewed this workout, I thought it might be too easy for me, an intermediate level exerciser. Well, I just finished it, and I am whipped. I was sweating after the first segment and was so motivated that I completed the other two segments as well. There is an exercise done in the lower body segment that really worked my hamstrings. This is my first stability ball workout, and I recommend it.

Great Quick Workouts
These workouts are fast and effective. They are only for toning, so I usually add one or two to a cardio workout. There are many creative uses of the stability ball in all of these workouts, and the instructor moves through the exercises quickly and gets a lot done in 10 minutes. The upper body segments requires heavy and light weights thought I found using five pound weights for both effective especially the first few times. Some of the exercises are difficult the first time, but there are alternatives for beginners. A lot of the exercises in all the workouts require good balance and core stability.

I like it.
This is a great workout. Since we need to vary our routines it is hard to find ball workouts that I really like doing. Plus I like the DVD because I can pick just one if I want.

Classical Pilates Technique - The Complete Mat Workout Series (Modified Basic / Basic / Intermediate / Advanced / Super Advanced)
Released in DVD by Classical Pilates (20 August, 2002)
MPAA Rating:
Average review score:

Documenting The Real Thing
This DVD is an unapologetic documentary of Joseph Pilates' original mat workout series with superb demonstration of exercises, and expert verbal instruction by Bob Liekens. The workouts move quickly without stopping so that your heart gets pumping and your muscles start working. This is precisely the point: The Pilates method is supposed to be vigorous as you gain familiarity with the exercises. Learning Pilates is sort of like learning a language. You start slowly at first then you pick up the pace then interact with your new 'movement vocabulary.'

If you want a slower workout, the "modified basic" routine on this DVD gives you the basics. I recommend this video without reservation, yet you should always try to take Pilates lessons from a certified instructor, so you can glean the full benefits from the method, from this DVD, or from any other DVD.

Classical Pilates has the best example of Pilates done well. This DVD shows the full range of exercise levels.

Totally Worth The Price
You can buy a lot of Pilates DVDs for $11-$14, but this DVD has more FULL and COMPLETE workouts than any other. I should know, because I am a Pilates enthusiast, and I have purchased over 10 different Pilates DVDs from Amazon before getting this one. Plus, I take Pilates lessons when I can.

Other Pilates DVDs tend to have more polished video sets and television game showlike instructors, yet in my bones, I can feel the Classical Pilates folks are for real. I would much rather take a trip back in time to Joseph Pilates' original studio than have a flashy video try to please my modern gym aesthetics and lifestyle.

I particularly liked the difference between the pre-basic workout and basic workout; there's a big difference! The instructor on this video said some really cool things that helped me workout more deeply, smoothly, and with more coordination. As I progressed, I enjoyed the precision of the intermediate workout. The demonstrator make Pilates look so beautiful. I can't wait until I can do that.

A Cool DVD
I am an exercise enthusiast who loves cross training: swimming, running, biking, tennis, and skiing. I started Pilates about a year ago and it helped every other activity I enjoy. So I bought about five Pilates DVDs from Amazon. Well, I should have gotten Classical Pilates first!

These people show what a good challenge Pilates can be, and the verbal instruction is intensely insightful; it's not just someone telling you what to do. The master instructor describes what you should be feeling and thinking about.

The Beatles - Help!
Released in DVD by Repnet (14 November, 1997)
MPAA Rating: G (General Audience)
Director: Richard Lester
Starring: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr
After the worldwide success of A Hard Day's Night, the Beatles and director Richard Lester reunited for a follow-up film, Eight Arms to Hold You. Well, that wasn't the final title; a pleading Lennon-McCartney tune provided the catchier handle: Help! A loose semispoof of the globe-trotting James Bond pictures, Help! has always been considered a somewhat disorganized comedown from its predecessor; but it presents "the famous Beatles" even more clearly as the English cousins of the Marx Brothers. The plot has an Eastern religious cult declaring that the new ring on Ringo's finger is the key element in a human sacrifice; they will stop at nothing to obtain it. Meanwhile, a mad scientist (crazed Victor Spinetti, who also appeared in A Hard Day's Night and Magical Mystery Tour) believes that if he has the ring, he could--dare we say it?--rule the world. The songs, including "Ticket to Ride" and "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away," are filmed with gleeful ingenuity, in locations such as the Bahamas, an Austrian ski resort, and the Salisbury Plain. The relentless nonsense becomes nearly the equivalent of a swinging-'60s Alice in Wonderland: for instance, Paul shrinks to the size of a gum wrapper, John fishes a season ticket out of his soup, George wears a top hat on the ski slopes, the lads sing the "Ode to Joy" to a lion. Oh, and the film is dedicated to Elias Howe, "who in 1846 invented the sewing machine." Brilliant. --Robert Horton

gute lieder aber die Handlung ist unfähig
their songs like ticket to ride, help, another girl are ok but the acting is bad.

Its a thingy! A fiendish thingy!
All I have to say is wow. What an awesome movie. It was pure ecstasy to see the Beatles acting and making jokes. I'm so happy I finally got this movie. A MUST SEE for any Beatle fan. If you're not a Beatles fan you probably will still enjoy the movie but you wont catch on to certain little things like when the musicians in the restaurant are replaced and the new musicians play the tune to hard days night. Plus, in some parts it can be difficult to understand the dialog. The second time I watched this is picked up a number of different things. Heh, gotta tell you though, the best scenes are definitely the attempts to get the ring back and the fight scene at the house (with Paul's adventure on the floor)! You should really give this movie a chance.

I love the Beatles in everything...
Well, it may not be a film you would give five stars, but the fact is you can't beat the Beatles. No pun intended really. This crazy plot, about Ringo getting chased by nutty mystics, is really an excuse for humor and pot-smoking (but you won't see that any where except on the cutting room floor). Great songs, hilarious situations, I mean hey it's The Beatles. You can't complain, so just enjoy the fun. I did!

Dian Ramirez - Pilates Mind-Body Matwork
Released in DVD by Terra (24 July, 2001)
MPAA Rating: Unrated
Average review score:

Boring Snoring
I have been to many Pilates classes, and although I am only eight I have been doing Pilates for three years.I like fast and difficult. This was slow and snoring. I was staring at the time bar, praying for it to be over. I found the movements very repetitive and the production values very cheesy. I found myself yelling at the screen telling her to do something different. At the end my mom and I lay on the floor suddenly I popped up and said "Mom, is she sleeping?" That brings us to my feelings about this tape: one big bore!

A flowing, blended workout
This review refers only to the third tape of this series, "Strengthen," which I found to be a blend of Pilates and yoga movements. The best part of this tape is the way that the movements flow into one another, as the moves are presented in a series of sequences. Each sequence consists of 5-6 exercises, and each exercise is repeated 5-10 times before moving to the next.

Alhtough I liked the flow of the workout, there were several things I didn't like about it. First of all, because instructor Dian Nissen-Ramirez moves smoothly from one move to the next, there are few cues to let the viewer know what is coming next. Similarly, Dian spends little time on instruction. I also was surprised to discover that the workout uses a Dynaband, as this is not mentioned on the box; I was able to substitute a yoga strap, but this did not work as well. Finally, I felt that the sequences themselves were repeated too many times, as I became bored after the first couple of repetitions.

This tape would probably work best for someone who wants a faster paced Pilates/yoga practice and who doesn't mind viewing the video several times before actually doing the workout. However, those who prefer uncomplicated, slower routines should look elsewhere.

Superb video
If you want a fast and furious workout, this video is not for you. But then, why would you be doing Pilates in the first place? The movements may seem slow to some, but they are supposed to be done that way. Fast usually means sloppy.
I have a lot of Pilates videos but this was one of the first good ones. I like how it uses a band too. i have noticed other Pilates videos are now copying what is on this one. This is a good workout for beginners too.
