Clifford - Clifford Saves the Day/Clifford's Fluffiest Friend Cleo
Released in DVD by Artisan Entertainment (22 April, 2003)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Director: John Over
Clifford is an invaluable friend who's excited to share his thoughts on friendship and helpfulness in this 90-minute compilation of Clifford Saves the Day and Clifford's Fluffiest Friend Cleo. Cleo learns some important lessons about friendship from her good friend Clifford in "Cleo's Fair Share," "Fluffed Up Cleo," "Two's Company," and "Friends Morning, Noon, and Night." Clifford proves an asset to the entire island of Birdwell in "Stormy Weather" and "Islander of the Year," and his help at the circus earns him a coveted place in the grand finale in "Circus Stars." In "Clifford on Parade," Clifford helps Emily Elizabeth and Charley discover how working together can solve a problem while strengthening their friendship. Special DVD features include "Clifford's Big Ideas," "The Clifford Dance," and "Real Life Doggy Friends." "Big Ideas" presents three short animated segments emphasizing the themes of helping others, respect, and sharing. On the DVD each animated segment is followed by on-screen, textual parenting tips that expand upon the themes presented and offer ideas for further discussion as well as suggestions of activities to reinforce those themes. "The Clifford Dance" is a very brief PBS promotional spot, and "Real Life Doggy Friends" features brief, real-life footage of kids talking about their own dogs. Learn about sharing, helping, and friendship with Clifford--everyone's favorite big red dog. (Ages 3 to 7) --Tami Horiuchi

Made for kids but parents enjoy it too.
This DVD is a compilation of two videos: Clifford's Fluffiest Friend Cleo and Clifford Saves the Day. Each has 4 episodes from the television show. The stories are fun and all have an underlying message about how to be better people. They are:

CLIFFORD'S FLUFFIEST FRIEND CLEO
Cleo's Fair Share - Cleo gets a new toy but is afraid to share it.
Fluffed Up Cleo - Cleo wins an award for fluffiest and learns that bragging is not fun.
Two's Company - K.C. returns to the island and Cleo wants him all to herself.
Friend's Morning, Noon, and Night - Cleo moves in with Clifford and becomes a nuisance.

CLIFFORD SAVES THE DAY
Stormy Weather - Clifford annoys people with his digging but manages to save the library from a huge storm.
Islander of the Year - People nominated for Islander of the Year have all been helped by Clifford.
Circus Stars - Clifford's hero, Gordo the Great, is sick and asks him to help out with the circus.
Clifford on Parade - Emily and Charlie argue about floats for the big parade and Clifford tries to help them out.

Extras: I was a little disappointed in these. Doggie Fun Facts and Big Ideas were just what I expected, but I was hoping for more from Learn the Clifford Dance. this is actually a commercial for the show made up of tiny clips. First you spin all around and jump up and down, and then you bark, that's the Clifford dance.

I love Clifford The Big Red Dog!
I love this show it is my favorite guilty pleasure. The characters are great such as Emily Elizabeth and Jetta, and the dogs Cleo, T-Bone, and Mac. This show i a great children's show and even for the adults. I recommend this show especially Clifford's Fluffiest friend Cleo.

If you're a small kid, you'll love it
My 4 year old makes me put this on for him every day. On weekends, at least 2-3 times.

It's a great disc, except after watching a million times, it does get on your nerves, especially Cleo. But my son loves it and memorizes the lines...

The turning point for G Gundam
This is where it starts to get REALLY good. It gets very addictive from here on in. When i first saw these episodes on Cartoon Network, I could barely wait until the next day for the next episode. I dont know how a show could be so good. I must really thank Cartoon Network for introducing me to these great shows through Toonami.

The 3rd episode on this DVD is my favorite. Its packed with great action and story. Plus this DVD sets up the next one perfectly and will make you want to buy Round 6.

Drug dealers get paid in cash but pay it back in blood!
This movie is actually really good. The acting is amazing. The direction is good, the script is well done, the dialouge is also very convincing. Although I was young in the mid 80's (I was about seven or eight) I rember from the music videos and from how older kids dressed that this movie captured that era perfectly. This movie is extreemly authentic. Being a drug dealer was a lot easier in the 80s than it is now. Less competation, less attention from the cops, etc. Also Cocaine was not nearly as plentiful and was thus much more expensive....The star of this film plays Avon Barksdale on the HBO series "The Wire". In this movie he is a lot nicer than he is on the wire, more of a buisness man and less of a gangster. Michael Phifer, who plays Mitch, is practaclly a staple now of any movie invovling the hood but he is defintly a good actor. Nither "Avon" or Phifer give their best perfomances in this movie but they are both solid. However, Camron is amazing. I know, I know, he had the juiceist, easiest part, the least complex character, etc. However, no one can say he did not impress in this movie, he blew me away! Wow! And I did not even know that was Camron until the ending credits, the whole movie I was thinking, who is this guy, how come I have never heard of him before, etc. Only when I read the credits did I know who he was, I did not Camron was so big and diseal. He has unbelivable screen presence, the viewer canot take their eyes off of him. He outacts everyone is this movie. Even though he had a less challanging role than everyone else in the film that does not change the fact that his performance was incrediable. Not since Tupac Shakur died have I seen an a rapper act that well. (Dont get me wrong, he does not compare to Tupac, but he is the closest thing we currently have in terms of acting ability)I really cant say enough good things about his perfomance, so convcing as the loudmouth, obnouxious, but incredibly dangerous gangster. His only weakness his overconfidence and love of the spot light. What a character contrast to "Avon" the the guy who played Ace in this movie. Ace was smarter than Rico though and thats why he managed to avoid jail while Rico got played. I liked the ending too, the kidnapping out of nowhere was great, showing that just because these guys are drug dealers does not mean they are the only low lives in the hood. All three main characters paid the price for all the easy money they made, no one gets off unscatheed although justice certainly does not prevail. Ace goes on the be a legitimate entrapuner, although he got his foot in the door with blood soaked drug money, but hey, thats life. If Ace had stayed at the laundry he would have been poor for ever, he did what he had to do to benefit himself, however, he caused untold misery doing it. Life is no fairytale and taking the moral highground will result in poverty and hopelessnes. However, choosing the dark path of narcotics sales results in a parinoid existence of betrayal, murder, and incarceration. Their are no easy choices or clear moral distinctions in this movie, this movie is the truth!

Great Flick
I originally wanted to see this movie because Cam'ron was in it. I am a fan of Rap/Hip-Hop, so I always look for a rapper's role in the movie. When I got to the end, I was speachless. I do not like Scarface that much but this was the best re-make next to New Jack City. The director, Charles Stone III did an awesome job w/ the clothes, the cars, everything. It was also filmed in my hometown! Also, there are a lot of Ol' Skool hits in the movie (Pump Up The Volume, Paid in Full) that accompany the movie. If you like Rap/Hip-Hop or Scarface, get it.

Awesome Flick
This movie was the bomb! The drama, the action, everything! Charles Stone III (the guy behind those Budweiser "waaazzzuuup" commercials) did a great job portraying the 1980's drug scene in Harlem. The soundtrack also makes a good presence in the movie. Jay-Z & Damon Dash produced it too! It's dope BUY IT!

Parting Glances
Released in DVD by First Run Features (11 April, 2000)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Director: Bill Sherwood
Starring: Richard Ganoung and John Bolger
The late Bill Sherwood's quiet little 1986 feature film about the early days of AIDS has held up remarkably well, and it still seems much smarter and less sentimental than higher-profile "AIDS movies" such as Longtime Companion and Philadelphia. It focuses on a couple, Michael and Robert, during a 24-hour period in New York City, as they prepare for Robert's departure on a trip to Africa. Michael must encourage his HIV-positive friend and former lover Nick (Steve Buscemi) to attend Robert's going-away party (hosted by The Drew Carey Show's Kathy Kinney), meanwhile trying to get Robert to stop avoiding Nick, the gnarly lead singer of a punk band whose video MTV has put into current rotation. Sherwood basically follows Michael around town, as he visits a record store, gets pursued by a cute young cashier, has dinner with a married couple, criticizes Robert for his callousness, and tries to nursemaid Nick, whose defiance against convention, pity, and a couple of bathetic Don Giovanni-inspired nightmares makes him the firm moral center of the film, rather than a victim. As Robert gets ready to leave, Nick plays a prank on Michael to test his devotion. Sherwood keeps issues unresolved and his characters very much alive. It's therefore a shame he didn't live long enough to make more witty, intelligent films like this. --Robert Burns Neveldine

A word about 'Parting Glances' Format...

A fantastic portrait of gay NYC life in the late 80's, and a timeless testament to the strength of friendship and allure of New York City.

My only gripe? It's not letterboxed. Does anyone know why?

Besides that, it's a good clean image of an uplifting and inspired film. I was pretty young when I first saw this on cable in the eighties, and it had a profound influence on my life then. I decided that I wanted to live my life the way the characters in this film did. And you know what? I'm thirty four now and I AM living life much like they do in this film.

Now that's inspired filmmaking!

Steve Buscemi is a marvel, in one of his first film roles. The soundtrack by Bronski Beat still thrills. And New York looks mighty fine. Oh, and the men are none too shabby in the looks department either.

Check it out.

TAKE A GLANCE AT A MOST PERFECT LOVE STORY
We leave you with a parting glance at Bill Sherwood's directorial debut, the funny, romantic and bittersweet 1986 film that was a pioneer of gay cinema and that remains the best film about gays and the AIDS epidemic ever made. It is a story of love, compassion and friendship -- the flick made a star out of lead Steve Buscemi -- told with style and sophistication that will you breathless whether you're gay or straight.

First, and Foremost a Good Film
What makes Parting Glances among the best of gay themed films is that it is first and foremost good film making...good writing. One way or another, Bill Sherwood knew that the demands of storytelling come first. So, while the gayness of the characters is inseprable from the story, it never becomes the story. These are characters indvidually realized. If any straight friends were curious about a gay themed film, this is the one I would put in their hands.
You might think a film about 24 hours in a man's life might end up being another "slice of life" shapeless slog-fest. Not in this case. The film has pace; there's nothing extraneous; nothing that doesn't add to your appreciation of the characters, whether it's a side bar discussion about a Flemmish painting, or a flash-back fantasy of a marauding romp around a Fire Island queen's swimming pool...everything contributes and moves the story forward.
It's a shame film making has lost Bill Sherwood. We can only wonder what else he might have created. Parting Glances is a beautiful legacy.

Clifford - Happy Birthday, Clifford!

Another great DVD based on a popular character
This DVD is based on the books and the new PBS series of Cliffor, the big red dog. The clifford series teaches some basic lessons on friendship and other important issues.
The DVD has two sets of four episodes for a total of eight. From the main menu, you can choose which chapter you would like to see, either "Happy Birthday Clifford" or "Puppy Love". Each chapter plays four episodes.
The only negative thing about this DVD is that after you watch one complete chapter, it goes back to the menu where you have to manually select the next group of episodes.
There is a fun game called Cleo's Groovy Grooming Shop where you can dress up Clifford and his friends using your DVD remote control! There are two other features: Real-life doggy friends and Parenting tips.
Bottom line: Another great Clifford DVD, but I wouldn't consider it a great DVD for the car.

Clifford is transformed.
Clifford is transformed into a television series fom a book and they did a grand job at it. I love Clifford's Birthday I watch that all the time. The animation is great and everybody is likeable. I recommend this show.

Dumb and Dumber
Released in DVD by New Line Studios (02 October, 2001)
MPAA Rating: PG-13 (Parental Guidance Suggested)
Directors: Bobby Farrelly and Peter Farrelly
Starring: Jim Carrey, Jeff Daniels, and Lauren Holly
Delivering exactly what its title promises, this celebration of stupidity was Jim Carrey's 1994 follow-up to Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and The Mask. The film pairs the rubber- faced wacky man with Jeff Daniels as the not-so-dynamic duo of Lloyd and Harry, dunderheads who come into the possession of a briefcase containing ransom money that is intended for Mob-connected kidnappers. Lauren Holly costars as the woman who lost the briefcase, and with whom Carrey falls in love (both in real life and as his moronic on-screen character). As Lloyd and Harry make a mad dash to return the briefcase (never aware of its contents), the bumbling buddies attract Mobsters, cops, and trouble galore. This lowbrow laugh-a-thon scores some solid hits for hilarity, but with gags involving ill-fated parakeets, buxom bimbos, and an overdose of laxatives, be prepared to put your brain--and good taste--on hold. --Jeff Shannon

Hmmmm
i awaited very much of this movie, but it was not so funny, it had 3 or 4 laughters and that also weren't jokes i fall of my chair! but tastes are diffrent and you can see, either u like it or u don't!

Waste of Talent
I enyoy off-beat humour like a lot of people, but this film not only wastes the talent of two fine actors, it has one major problem. It's not funny, except maybe to someone with an undeveloped sense of humour

Masterful Comedy
A combination of facial expressions, witty writing, impeccable timing, and expert editing come together to make this film a laughfest. It could very well become a classic. Jim Carey and his sidekick are a hilarious team.

There's the usual antics of slapstick, but this film has more. A logical storyline maintains your attention as you wonder how the "heroes" are going to accomplish their goals. Crosscountry travel, embarrassing situations, miscommunications all enter the mix.

Prepare for a couple of hours of hearty, healthy laughter. There are no weak spots in this film. It's all good.
