Dangerous Child
This show is great. I love Ryan Merriman in this movie. Hes almost like me in this movie. I really wanna see it again. Ryan is soooooo hot in this movie. But I would never abuse my mom or my dad.

I think that this movie is very good. It has a lot of good acting in it and so forth. Ryan did a very good job in this movie when he would get all pissed of and throw stuff...when he looked mad it was kinda scary. He would get all weapy too... This is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. For anyone who likes Ryan Merriman I would suggest this movie. It has alot of suppense too like what's up with him? and what is wrong with him he has problems? or issues as I like to call them.
It shows that there isn't just child abuse kids can abuse there parents too. and it shows what abuse is really like. It's a very good movie... I would recommend that you see it.

Storm over Asia

The last of the three great films that V.I. Pudovkin directed in the 1920s, Storm over Asia (1928) is an acknowledged classic of Soviet silent cinema. Filmed largely on location in Mongolia, the film has an authentic documentary feel, though the story is a stirring melodrama, about a young fur trapper who is mistreated by the occupying forces in the civil war and becomes a leader of the partisans. Pudovkin enjoys caricaturing the foreign (British) troops and the medieval rituals of a Buddhist temple, but it's out on the steppes that he really comes into his own, with panoramic shots of the vast landscapes. Together with Mother (1926) and The End of St. Petersburg (1927), Storm over Asia (also known as The Heir to Genghis Khan) entitles Pudovkin to be ranked with Sergei Eisenstein and Dziga Vertov as a master of the Soviet montage style, which he expounded in his book Film Technique (1929). --Ed Buscombe

Incredible
I can't really add much to the only other review, but I, too, find it unfortunate that this film and much of Pudovkin's work has been largely made invisible due to the glare of Eisenstein (or if you're into cultural studies during the New Economic Policy, Protazanov and the other 'commercial' directors at Mezhrabprom-Rus). While this film represents Pudovkin at his peak, awash as it is in ethnographic detail, a real human story (instead of Eisenstein's cardboard cutouts), and the completely sublime use of his trademark 'bricking' montage, his other films (especially less famous ones like 'Chess Fever' and 'Deserter') deserve a look, too.

Dazzling editing in powerful Soviet masterpiece
Storm Over Asia/The Heir to Genghis Khan is one of those titles frequently seen in film history books but rarely seen on a screen. Good to have it at last, then, because it's one of the best films to come out of the Soviet 1920s-- a work of rat-a-tat editing on a par with Gance's Napoleon and an example of slowly-smoldering drama finally delivering with a vengeful wallop worthy of The Godfather. Pudovkin consistently displayed the human touch that colleagues such as Eisenstein and Dovzhenko lacked, and the story of a Mongolian peasant who is used as a puppet ruler by the British until he finally unleashes the force of his people upon them is gripping throughout. In short, a masterpiece that is also a cracking good movie.

Street Fury's Best Edition Yet.
Hot girls, sweet cars, and awesome music... It's hosted by the super-fine Asia DeMarcos, features several of the I-rev girls, (who happen to be the hottest import models ever - Natasha Yi, Sharon Sotto, Tila Nguyen, etc.).

The coverage of the Hot Import Nights is pretty wild, and it features some tight rides. Music is great. It's got consistent electronica groove throughout the flick - quality stuff, (I'd personally buy a soundtrack). You can tell it was recorded with digital camera equipment - which gives it a 'underground skater-video' feel, which isn't bad because it represents the scene well.

Some interviews are slow at times and I wished it had more camera shots of the cars. They feature the Tokyo Auto Salon car show and didn't even pan around the Subaru Sti, the Skyline GTR, or many other amazing cars I wanted to see up-close. Still, it's worlds better than the previous installments.

I'm Looking forward to the next one and hope they feature more hot import models like they did, and a better look at the machines. It's a solid video and I'd recommend Street Fury: Blue to anybody who's into sexy girls, fast cars, and the import lifestyle.


The Good Mother

So Powerful, So Wonderful
I was warned before watching this movie that it would not be one of those 'sit in front of the television with a bowl of popcorn' movies. For half of the movie, I just sat there, my eyes glued to the screen, watching Diane Keaton in a simply wonderful and dramatic role.

Anna Dunlap (Keaton) is a newly divorced woman with an adorable six year old daughter. They have a wonderful relationship, and it is very evident when you sit down and watch them together. Enter Liam Neeson. He starts out as a person with whom you would not want to get to know, but after a few minutes, he reveals that he's just in a bad mood and he is actually quite nice. When he first meets Molly (the very adorable Asia Vieira), she is very shy towards him, but she learns to like him and you can see that there is a bond between them. When something happens (I don't want to say what), and Molly's father wants full-time custody of her, the movie becomes a full-blown drama. It is, I admit, hard to watch some of the courtroom scenes, but they are so powerful and they draw you into the story. In a way, I saw the end result coming, but not exactly like it did. It definitely showed finality in the family.

Keaton's performace, like I said above, was incredibly powerful and she does a wonderful job portraying Molly's mother. The main reason I bought this movie was because of Diane Keaton, since she is my favorite actress and this movie shows her in her best dramatic role, in my opinion. If only it had received higher reviews when it came out. But I go by what looks good to me, and to me, this looked good, mainly because of the cast and the story.

Simply a must-see
Being a tremendous fan of Diane Keaton's work, I rented this movie (I'm still... that this movie isn't sold anywhere), and it immediately rated as one of my top-ten favorite Keaton videos. It honestly is an enigma that this movie didn't get enough praise it deserves. Most of the scenes are incredibly sweet, warm, and intimate. That's what makes this movie so great. When Keaton's character, Anna, meets Liam Neeson's character, Leo, there's a unmistakable bond forming. I especially love the scene when Anna goes to Leo's apartment and Leo and Anna becomes one, dancing in front of Leo's sculpture, making shadows on the wall from the light shining on them from behind. This is an esoteric concept of first love. I really thought it was so sweet when Anna confessed to Leo that she thought she wasn't very good at sex, and he gently assures her that they can fix that. There's no judgment in that scene;it's obvious that Leo really loves Anna, and their love is vivid. Another favorite scene is when Anna and her daughter, Molly, are in the bathtub with Leo reading to them. This is truly intimate, and I just love the fact that they were so open-minded about being naked in front of Molly. There's just so much tenderness and love. It was, to me, beautiful. And yet another favorite scene is when Molly has a bad dream and goes into Anna's room while she and Leo are making love, and they comfort her until she falls asleep.There's another display of intimacy, about caring and love. The three of them together was absolutely wonderful. That is why I found it incredibly appalling that Anna's ex-husband, Brian, goes to court for something that happened between Molly and Leo that had absoluely no intention of happening. (I won't ruin the ending for you). But I found the ending truly sad and final. A soon-to-be family are wrenched apart by an innocent mistake. I felt bad, because I knew they could have had a wonderful life together. I also felt bad for Anna and Leo. I could really see their love shown for each other. They were so comfortable together; their feelings for each other were vivid and beautiful. This is a movie of non-judgment and unconditional love, and that's what makes it so special. I honestly don't understand why this movie was considered a failure. Keaton is at her best in this movie, and Neeson is simply wonderful. I consider myself as an efficient movie critic, and I know which movies are bad or good. This movie is a MUST-SEE!!! I acclaim Keaton especially for her wonderful work in this movie. 'The Good Mother' is proof that Keaton is one of the world's most rare and special actresses. If you're not suffering from brain deterioration, immediately rent this movie! You won't regret it.

tenderness
I saw this movie 2 years ago on TV and I was deeply moved by it. I'm looking everywhere to find this movie on video but I haven't found it yet. I also read the book, before I saw the film and I think it's the first time that I like more the film than the book of a same story. I must confess that since this film I became a fan of Liam Neeson. It's a film that sensitive people must see. The scene before the mirror has remained with me all along.


B. Monkey

Director Michael Radford made a surprising about-face from his international hit Il Postino to this grungy British romantic crime thriller. Asia Argento (Dario's daughter and costar of Abel Ferrara's New Rose Hotel) is the title character, a street criminal whose specialty is breaking and entering: "I can get into anywhere." Jared Harris (Richard's son and Andy Warhol in I Shot Andy Warhol) is a bookish, shy schoolteacher with a yen for jazz who becomes smitten with Argento's sexy wildcat. Argento brings a vitality to the supercharged street thief trying to break with her past, but stick-in-the-mud Harris is restrained to a fault and Radford never quite finds the right chemistry to make their union any more than curious. Rupert Everett costars as a smart-mouthed, sleepy-eyed ne'er-do-well whose drug habit puts him deep in debt, and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers is Argento's volatile partner, a jittery young punk on a hair trigger. Radford has more fun with the villains than his ostensible hero; the film bubbles when they're on screen and the movie's single heist scene is a short, sharp, energized shot in the arm to a slowing story. Only Harris sticks out as an impossibly resolute saint who's dedicated his life to a passionate sinner. The conclusion reverberates with echoes of Straw Dogs, as remade by a kinder, gentler filmmaker. --Sean Axmaker

Unfortunately Titled Thriller Has Super Hot Babe.....
...I've got to put Asia Argento on my list of Much Watch Actresses: she puts to mind a combination of Angeliina Jolie and Thora Birch, but with way more fire than Jolie ever goes for...Jolie is kinda 'mellow', y'know?

But, I caught this on one of my cable stations one Sat. evening 'cause I'm a big fan of heist cine, and this *is* one, albeit wrapped in a rather odd love story. Tawk about opposites attracting! The grade school teacher trails live wire Beatrice one day and asks her out for a drink. What follows is one of the most passionate and interesting court ships I've ever seen on film. They go to Paris to find their love. I thought that was a rather nice touch. But, always, always, one muddy alley away, one warehouse loft away, one scummy tavern away are the boosters and druggies threatening to pull her back in the mire. Beatrice does one more job out of a since of obligation to her ex-partners and to help her pallie (played with greatness by Rupert) pay some drug bills.

The heist at the jewelry shoppe nearly gets botched when her companion loses nerve: they are saved when the driver slaps a man with a car lug wrench. And Beatrice comes away with a 'well, I did get a rush from this, but I can't afford this type of rush anymore. They are 'way too risky'. So she and the teacher find a way to get a house in the country side. And one day, in a break of monotony and ennui, Beatrice calls up Rupert from a road side phone...just to check up on her pallie, you know?

You can just about guess what happens next, but by the time this part of the film happens, if you are anything like me, you find yourself into the story so deeply that you let the obvious cliches run their course. That's what I did.

Also, this is one of the most attractive of the modern British gangster/heist cines I've seen. Many of them have that dark or greyness as if the directors were trying to capture years of sooty, foggy decadence on film. My overall opinion is that if you see this, it will entertain you....

Asia Argento is , god is she good
its about a mild-mannered british schoolteacher who falls for a bank robber trying to leaver her criminal past behind. good story and it plays out well. Asia Argento(Triple X, New Rose Hotel) is a woman in the making and shes the daughter of Dario Argento the director. costars Jared Harris(Igby Goes Down, Lost In Space1998), Jonathan Rhys Meyers(Maker, Ride With The Devil), Tom Woodward and the excellent Rupert Everett(My Best Friends Wedding, Inspector Gadget#1). I loved this movie just to see Argento do her thing, I mean yeah baby.

Increase to 4 stars for Asia!

My personal technical review:

Picture - 3.5, Sound - 3.0, Sound/Jazz - 4.5

This is quite an ususual little movie with unusual colors, good use of sky (in shots), and I suppose it's a bit of a love story.

The overall picture is dark but clear. It is not true 16x9 but is a nice widescreen presentation. You will probably have to watch this movie at night or in a very dark room. With that, the weird blues will jump out at you.

This film will *make* fans for Asia Argento. For those of us who have enjoyed watching her since "The Church", she has matured and looks great. No doubt as you collect DVD's of her father Dario Argento, you will also buy everything Asia Argento appears in. Both of them are quite addicting.

A male lead has a part-time or volunteer job as a DJ and plays jazz LP's. Sometimes in the soundtrack you will hear clicks and pops -- as vinyl records must have been used. It was an interesting effect. Other than that, the jazz background music is excellent and never lasts long enough. Enjoy the Peggy Lee song at the end! Actually, the movie is fairly entertaining, but Ms. Lee's song for the closing credits is the best part of film, since that song is used as a theme throughout.

Miss Congeniality

It's a good thing Sandra Bullock knows her strengths and weaknesses, because without Bullock as star and producer, Miss Congeniality would be an insufferable mess as opposed to being a mildly enjoyable trifle that is custom-made for Bullock's established screen persona. Only Bullock's fans could really appreciate this fluff (even then they'll wish its ripe premise had been more intelligently handled), but it's not without some highlights to accompany Bullock's reliable charms. Here she plays clumsy, nerdy FBI agent Gracie Hart, who is given the horrific pseudonym Gracie Lou Freebush (one example of the movie's juvenile tendencies) when assigned to infiltrate a beauty pageant to investigate threats of a terrorist attack.

Transforming Bullock from frumpy to stunning is a piece of cake (although she gives pageant coach Michael Caine a run for his money), so the movie's premise is trivial at best. More enjoyable is her character's uncouth disdain for pageant contestants and her mistaken perception that they're all a bunch of bimbos. The movie nicely charts Gracie's realization that her own pageant makeover provides a much-needed ego boost. In addition to Caine's effortless scene-stealing, pageant host William Shatner and organizer Candice Bergen are smart choices for comedic support (Shatner's a perfect Bert Parks wannabe), but the movie desperately needs a credible foundation for its comedy to really pay off. Bullock's bureau boss (Benjamin Bratt) is an unconvincing dimwit, and none of the plotting is as smart as say Beverly Hills Cop in combining procedure with laughs. That leaves Bullock to carry the burden of a comedy that just barely works in her favor. --Jeff Shannon

Am I glad that I still own the stunning quality Laserdisc of this great movie!

You can live with the rotten DVD quality
because this an absolutely fabulous film. Top drawer French cast. Adjani is luminous and can actually act. Rent this puppy and wait for Criterion or someone to produce a better quality DVD.

Dumas would approve
Alexandre Dumas was among the first writers of fantasy fiction. He and Victor Hugo pioneered the serial novel. Here's the formula: take a simple hisotrical fact, for example - that Henri III succeeded Charles IX, son of Catherine de Medici. Then let your mind go wild about what the time must have been like, with all its passions and intrigues. Poof! You have a wonderful roman feuilletee that will keep readers coming back and coming back for each installment. Reading La Reine Margot can be distracting, because Dumas was something less than perfect in the continuity department. The story, however has plenty of bones to hang an incredibly good modernized version on them. The linchpins are as old as time itself: the conflict between equally blind and uncompromizing religions, the dilemma of love vs. duty, and the trageday that attends true love. This would be pretty even in modern garb.

The production is marvelous. The sets are warm and mysterious. Isabelle Adjani captures all of the sensuality and savvy of Margueritte de Valois. The casting of a very ordinary looking Henri Navarre is brilliant. Those of us who have read the original may miss Coconnais and de la Mole as their significance is underplayed. That is OK. Both actors play the part to a "T". The Duc de Guise is as slimy as you imagine him to be, and Catherine just as evil. Indeed this is Harry Potter - the meticulous transcription of a good novel to film - for adults, and it gets an A+.

I guess you can tell how I feel about Dumas. Judge for yourself, but I doubt that very many will watch this film and walk away disappointed.

NICE, BUT NOT SO NICE
Great sound and picture. I have two major complaints about this DVD. 1) Kings Of The Day, Keyboard solo, Love Under Fire, Sad Situation, Longest Night & Love Under Fire, which are listed as being on the DVD, are not there, 2) Put the interviews on separatly, instead of between songs. THIS IS A HUGE DITRACTION, when your getting into the concert.

Not original enough....
For those who would like to see ASIA more like the John Wetton era check out the other ASIA DVD recording in the late eighties for British television. It's the original lineup sans Steve Howe. Pat Thrall fills in admirably for Howe and can surely blister the axe.

I bought this strictly to hear john payne sing the wetton era songs and that is what made it for me!!!


The Church

Demons 3, The Church, whatever the title, it disappoints
I am a huge Dario Argento fan. His style is just amazing. One day my eyes fell upon The Church because it had the Dario Argento name on it, and finally decided to fork over the money for it because the back stated "originally know as Demons 3", and I loved the first two Demons films and with Argento producing, how could this film goe wrong? It does. The film starts off very promisesing with a great beginning score by Goblin and then switching to knights galloping to a town full of witches. When the film changes to modern day, and then the film falls apart. It's not director Michele Soavi'd fault, he just has very little to work with in Argeno's script. The script just has huge plot holes. So big, that they insult my intellegence. Sometimes people are possessed by demons just because and some because they are scratched (like in the first two demons movies). The church was originally full of children when it was closed up, and suddenly the kids disappear. What was with Asia Argento's character also appearing in a past flashback. People who have seen this know what I mean and those of you about to see it will see what I mean. Sure Demons 2 had plot wholes, but at least it was fun to watch. The Church, sadly doesn't have near the entertainment value. The only thing that keeps the film moving is Michele Soavi's catchy camera work. Otherwise if fails miserably. I've seen the film two times and I can't get forgive some of these mistakes. Michele Soavi has directed some great horror films (Cemetery Man comes to mind), but The Church isn't one of them. Argento fans should buy this with caution. Only buy if you find it cheap or if your a Argento collector. The film just left a bad taste in my mouth.

A good effort
Ok, heres the deal. The opening sequence was very well done, the gothic style and mood to the movie was also effectively achieved. But the character development was horrid and the final scenes of the movie seemed to be rushed. The final scenes, the whole summoning of Baphomet/sex scene and the rise of the damned set-piece could have used some more time I think. And who cares about those characters who were introduced later in the film. And why are the two seemingly main characters almost totally forgotten at the end of the film? Anyway, those are just some of my gripes and considering most italian horror films, those kind of gripes would be pretty standard. Overall it was a decent movie, good gore, good opening sequence and i'll leave it at that.

Church of true horror
Produced by Dario Argento,this is an atmospheric,creepy Italian horror,with beautiful and tense atmosphere,where even silence is important.This all is,of course,beautiful directed by Michelle Soavi.
