Big Brother 3
Released in DVD by Ventura Distribution (04 November, 2003)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)

Good DVDs - Bad Packaging
Season 3 was one of the best of the Big Brother Series. (I also loved Season 2 with the "evil" Dr. Will). I'd forgotten alot of Season 3 - Amy & Marcellus, Chiara & Roddy, Lisa & Eric, Danielle & Jason... and good ole Gerry.

The fighting, the loving, Amy leaving then returning, Marcellus and his decision with the Golden Veto, Danielle and her comments in the Diary room - I loved all of it and was saddened when I finished watching it again.

The only "extras" are the audition tapes of the contestants. Interesting but I wish there were more "extras" such as comments from the House Guests or Julie Chen. Maybe the producers will add more on the next Big Brother DVD release. (Hopefully they will release more).

My biggest beef is with the packaging. I received the set with several DVDs loose inside their jewel box. A friend of mine received her set with alot of scratches on the DVDs. Instead of having each DVD attached inside, two DVDs "share" the same space, one an inch or two down from the other. The "top" DVD on each side is supposed to hold down the other one but comes loose so they both rattle around.

Another thing - I've noticed Amazon has raised alot of their prices and this is no exception. I bought BB3 here when it first came out and paid $49 for it but now it is selling for
$62.96. Ouch!

The best Big Brother of All
The original big brother was a big ole bore, the second one was good but it needed more drama. But by the time you get to the third one it's an all consuming soap opera you'll be obsessed with. I remember reading live feeds on the net constantly because I was so obsessed. And then there was bb4 whoich wasn't half as interesting because of all the undramatic twists but anyway here's why bb3 is so good...

This is the season in which consisted of Amy, Marcellas, Lori, Tanya, Gerry, Josh,, Danielle, Jason, Chiara, Roddy, Eric, and Lisa.

Some of the best drama was when Danielle has the hand washing blow out with Lori, the constant fighting of Chiara and Amy over Roddy. Amy's exit and then later return that had everyone talking, Chiara's betrayl to Lisa and Lisa's transformation from part of the "couples" group to her own butt kicking self, the performance by Sheryl Crow, and then in the end the good person won over the one who played the game but said some hurtful things about others in the diary room. This season had the best ending and payoff.

Truly the best of all big brother season's, if you love the show without a doubt you'll want the big brother 3 dvd's!

THE BEST IS YET TO COME!!!
Sure Big Brother 4 is now over...waiting for Big Brother 5. Getting the DVD's of Big Brother 3 will really go well for those who are waiting for Big Brother 5 to hit the air waves. This is the entire 3rd season and a must have for all Big Brother fans!!! (...)

100 Years of Strauss
Released in DVD by Red Distribution, In (28 January, 2003)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Starring: Andre Rieu
Average review score:

Very entertaining
Wonderful performance although the Dublin DVD is more entertaining. Worth the money. Downside is that there is too much Rieu. It is smaltzy when during the Lilac waltz he goes into a garden and points out the lilacs but that is Rieu. I would rather watch the orchestra than watch Rieu wander through towns.

..... Andre's finest hour .....
Andre Rieu is a great showman - beyond his enormous musical talent. And he has created an orchestra made up of very carefully selected musicians who are not only accomplished players of their own chosen instruments, but who also have a passion for the genre of music they perform. In addition, all of Andre's players are chosen for their conviviality, so that each and every one contributes to the "esprit de corps" and "joie de vivre" that make his a unique orchestra in our contemporary culture.

In addition to the splendid string, brass, and woodwind sections, the Johann Strauss Orchestra also includes a wide range of percussion instruments, a cymbalo, and even a concert grand piano. The piano harmonizes with the rest of the orchestra for melodic support, and yet contributes its own special luster. And while every background musician in this orchestra performs admirably, with repeated exposure it becomes apparent that the piano, flute, oboe, and bassoon players, as well as both of the percussionists, are really outstanding.

Nonetheless, after performing each piece, Andre insists that EVERY performer in his orchestra (about 43 musicians) stand up and share the thunderous applause coming from a very appreciative audience. This connection between performers and audience builds and builds until, by the time of the concert's approaching finale, some of the audience actually starts dancing in the isles, and the remainder (about 1500 patrons) gradually all stand up, link arms, and start humming along with the music while swaying side to side. This is Andre's dream come true, and even while he is still playing and conducting, his face begins to beam with great pride while watching this emotional spectacle in the audience come to life right in front of him. All in all, it is a wonderfully moving experience that can bring tears to your eyes and make your heart sing for many a day.

This DVD is a fabulous recording of a 1999 centennial celebration concert in a Vienna music hall. For anyone not familiar with the music of the Strauss family, I know of no better introduction; for the many who have already enjoyed televised Viennese concerts, this one cannot fail to at least entertain; and finally, for all those folk long in love with the Strauss Volksgarten konzert style, this particular video recording is surely a portal to Paradise.

It's a surprise that it is an English version
When this DVD was announced to launch on Jan 23, 2003 I was hesitated to make a preorder because I got the video already. But I am glad I did because this is an English version whereas the video is in German. I appreciate that no other artists could be so considerate as Andre who always records more than two languages versions for his fans all over the world, it requires extra effort especially in a live concert. This was a concert in Vienna in1999 in memory of 100 years of Johann Strauss death. Let's see how magnificant the concert hall has been decorated, how beautiful are the music and remarkable the performance of Andre & the JSO. As a bonus special, we also know some update facts & data about Andre which every fan would be interested.

Good buy
Yeah, even some pretty good and real girlfights. Not quite as good as Fighting Mad, but definitely a good buy, I'd say.

Great DVD
I have fighting mad and this dvd. This is an excellent one to ad to your collection. I love to watch it over and over. Just like fighting mad this dvd gives you a kick ass soundtrack and some great footage. Two fights in particular are very entertaining. This DVD is all drunken mayhem at it's best. The dvd also has previews for fighting mad and another dvd called Fights. So you get about 15 minutes of bonus footage. All in all a great purchase.

.....
Dude you gotta get this !I never saw so many bar fights.
I love watching drunk people kick [butt].....Bumfights is fake this is real....

Bloodletting
Released in DVD by Ventura Distribution (26 August, 2003)
MPAA Rating: Unrated
Director: Matthew Jason Walsh
Average review score:

Good stuff!
Highlighted by a smart script, a playful sense of humor and a solid rapport between the leads!

Great movie. Packed DVD release.
Bloodletting is one of the better low budget horror flicks to come out in the 90's. The main characters are Butch and Serena. The basic plot involves a demented tale of murder and mayhem with many twists and shocks. The Amazon Editorial Review states the plot rather clearly, so it's almost moot for me to extend upon it much.

Bloodletting was not an easy film to make. It's shooting time was only 3 or 4 days with a very meager budget. There was high tension on the set throughout filming and several friendships were tarnished for years. It's amazing that the final cut turned out to be a decent little movie.

This new DVD is packed with many bonus features. I was lucky to get it from Tempe a couple of months ahead of the release date. Although the picture and sound are nothing to rave about, it looks as good as it will ever look on DVD, especially considering it wasn't shot on 35mm film. It is presented in Full Frame, which is it's original aspect ratio. The new sound remix is leagues better than the old vhs edition. Now for the actual special features:

It includes the short film "I've Killed Before" which was shot before Bloodletting and also starred Ariauna Albright & James L. Edwards. This is basically a shortened version of Bloodletting with some minor differences in the story and names. Shot on video, it had a poor production that made the final product suffer...however it is still entertaining, if only to compare with the later Bloodletting.

A new and interesting "Making Of" feature sheds some light on the problems that plagued the production. Some deleted scenes are also worth it to buy this DVD. Trailers for Bloodletting and many other Tempe movies are also included. A still gallery is also very nice, with production photos and artwork of the various old vhs editions. A large section of Text Reviews from various sources are also included.

The DVD does include an inner insert with notes from Tempe's J.R. Bookwalter. Perhaps the nicest feature is the DVD-ROM feature. If you place this in the DVD drive on your computer you can access the FULL SOUNDTRACK for Bloodletting (previously for sale on CD) in high-quality MP3 format!

Not everyone will enjoy Bloodletting as much as some. Several scenes could be quite offensive to certain people. But, if you're a fan of low-budget horror then you really need to check it out......

The best serial-killer love story of all time!
A splatter tragicomedy from writer-director Matthew Jason Walsh, "Bloodletting" focuses on a young woman named Serena (Ariauna Albright) who blackmails notorious serial killer Butch Harlow (James L. Edwards) into teaching her the craft of murder. They fall in love and go on a killing spree. Naturally, the young lovers eventually run into relationship problems, as Serena's ever-increasing bloodlust becomes too much for Butch to handle. Edwards and Albright play off each other beautifully, delivering passionate performances while sending up modern relationships and serial killing with giddy aplomb. The dialogue scenes between them amidst all the carnage are killer. Just wait till Serena, in the heat of a lovers' spat, cries, "This is not about killing people anymore, Butch. This is about us!" The showstopper, of course, is a wee little baby being splattered all over a wall due to an accidental shotgun blast. Yes, it sounds sick. And it is. But in the context of this delightfully twisted film, the exploding baby is as sly and funny as anything in "American Psycho." Sure, "Bloodletting" may be a bit rough around the edges, but its near-brilliant writing and the memorable, inspired performances by Edwards and Albright eclipse most if its micro-budget shortcomings. If you ask me, "Bloodletting" is the best serial-killer love story of all time.

The Kennel Murder Case
Released in DVD by Gotham Distribution (30 July, 2002)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Director: Michael Curtiz
Starring: William Powell and Mary Astor
Average review score:

William Powell is wonderful
This movie was a little long with not enough substance to warrant its length. But William Powell is an actor's actor in this one. Totally natural and believable as the detective who's just slightly a scoundrel himself. Very smooth.

An Enjoyable Little Mystery
S.S. Van Dine's Philo Vance is almost forgotten today but the dapper detective was adapted to film several times. The Kennel Murder Case is by far the best of the lot. Director Michael Curtiz used that early 1930's soft focus look and a well written and witty script to bring Vance to life in the form of William Powell, who was perfect for the part.

From the opening moments of Vance at the Long Island Kennel Club with his dog, Captain McDavish, this is a classy and breezily paced little mystery. The murder of Hilda Lake's dog escalates into a human murder with lots of suspects. But how was the murder commited since the victim is found dead in a room locked from the inside?

In steps Philo Vance, cancelling his boat trip to bail out Detective Heath (Eugene Pallet). A young and very stylish Mary Astor as Hilda Lake and Helen Vinson add greatly to the proceedings, as do Ralph Morgan, Frank Conroy, Paul Cavanaugh and James Lee Liang as the cook obsessed with Chinese treasures.

Shady business dealings, spurned affections and valuable Chinese artifacts all play a part in this tight little mystery. Powell's Vance is uptown, cool as a cucumber and fun to watch as he's always one step ahead of everyone else.

This is a great little rainy night mystery for those times you're in a nostalgic mood. Mystery lovers don't want to miss this little gem.

A classic murder case
As with all good murder cases there is some nasty person (Archer Coe) that makes everyone he comes in contact want to murder him. ...
Of course Philo Vance (William Powell) does not believe it and has to unravel a complex "Who-done-it" and how?
The acting is well done. And you will find many of the elements (character portrayal, gimmicks, and subplots) in later movies.

My Vampire Lover
Released in DVD by Ventura Distribution (25 June, 2002)
MPAA Rating: Unrated
Director: George Freeway
Average review score:

My Vampire Loser
The quickest way to sumerise this - if you like Jim Bacchus/Darien Cain films, then you'll love this.

I don't, but I appreciate that this is a better film, if only because these two have less to do with this film - Jim's moved to producer role, & Darien has only a small role in this - ...

If you like women with fake boobs (there's one here who looks like she's upsized), and a succession of mild and poinless lesbian scenes, then this is for you.

Our poor heroine is a bit of a loser, she screws a bevvy of women, drains them, then has an angst session about it.

The finale confrontation is the only laughable moment of the film, and that's unintentional

I really liked some scenes in this one!
OK, everybody seems to agree that Misty Mundae is really cute. And I also love Katie Jordan. But despite the fact that both of those delicious hotties are in this one, I thought the sexiest scene by far was the one with vampire Paige Richards and victim Ruby LaRocca near the end of the video! I mean, when Paige seduces Misty and Katie, the scenes were somewhat bland and unimaginative. But her scene with Ruby was steamy! Maybe it was the sub/dom element involved, but I just thought it was incredibly erotic! Also, there's a scene near the beginning where Paige seduces a female stripper. That one was also quite good! I just wish all Seduction Cinema videos were this erotic!

It has Misty Mundae in it!!...
It has Misty Mundae in it!! Okay, so it's only one scene, and she dies, but she is dressed and undressed as a Catholic Schoolgirl! Watch this film!

Perfect Fit
Released in DVD by Ventura Distribution (27 November, 2001)
MPAA Rating: R (Restricted)
Director: Donald P. Borchers
Average review score:

EXCELLENT MOVIE. BAD DVD
Maria Ford and others do a fine job in this excellent comedy/thriller. She is always a delight to see and this film gives her the opportunity to display her acting skills.
The DVD has no features whatsoever though, not even scene selection. It's no better than a tape which you have to fast forward or reverse to get to a scene you want. Terrible;
I have removed a star because of this

Great Movie, music and chapter stops
Very, Very good movie, never gets boring because it hits you with a new plot twist every few minutes. The movie also had a very creepy feel to it from the very beginning. I also found the soundtrack very good, and the songs fit what was happening in the movie at the time. I especially like the theme song "I Want More" and the song "Neighborhood" by Space, which is in chapter 14. Although this DVD does not have a chapter menu, it does have chapter stops, which you can go directly to if you have a good DVD player with chapter search.

slow starter
this is one of the little known movies soo quickly out of the new releases into the 5 day rentals < i dont even think it ever was inthe new release section, hate that. > its slow for the first 30 minutes or so but deffinitely picks up into a great movie when maria ford steps in... she has won her way into my top 5 women in the world for me for sure. i think both guys and gals will enjoy this refreshingly new and unique action comedy--- with a good ending to boot. yes there is nudity and sexuality...

Soft Cell: Live in Milan
Released in DVD by Red Distribution, In (22 October, 2002)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Average review score:

a second chance to catch a soft cell show!
i was one of the lucky few to see soft cell on their little so called u.s. tour. they originally scheduled 11 shows, but only played 5 shows due to bad ticket sales, management, fill in the blank, etc... in any case their los angels show was great. the perfomance on this dvd is good although not as good as the show i saw in los angeles. this dvd also contains a 20 minute interview with marc and dave discussing soft cell beginings. the audio sounds fine, although i'm sure someone will find something to complain about. there are very good close-ups on marc and dave(and some good close synth shots as well). i'd rate this dvd 3 1/2 stars. i'm glad i bought this dvd and have it in my collection.

What a great comeback!!
This is such an extraordinary comeback! Not only because of the new songs like "The Last Chance", or "Monoculture", but because this great performance by Marc and David on this kind of "re-union tour" and this DVD captures the best moments of an astonishing concert in Milan. Is good to know that Dave Ball is a great keyboard player and I was kind of surprised seeing that he actually "plays" all the songs, and not everything is programmed on the keyboard.ItÂ's a little odd seeing Marc "rockin" and playing guitar, very different from any other Marc solo show. So it is all like if time just didnt passed throuhg them ( well, slightly ). Great songs selection, and for those who were not very familiar to the "Art of Falling apart" or "Last night in Sodom" albums its a great opportunity to listen to the great "Martin" or "The best way to kill" and of course, the "grand finale" that includes "Tainted love/where did our love go?" and "Say Hello wave goodbye".Now I rate it 5 stars, because it has a good picture quality, good sound, and because of a good camera direction and edition. So, donÂ't miss it, because who knows when this guys would come back? maybe in another 20 years!!!

Awesome Classic Soft Cell Plus New Gems!
For those of you who wish you could have seen Soft Cell live...,now you can! This DVD is awesome with all Soft Cell's great hits and latest new tracks! DVD includes a very cool interview. The DVD takes you back in SOFT CELL time (live). this DVD is a MUST for any Soft Cell fan!Marc's vocals start out weak on the first track but then works his way into outstanding performance and sound!I totally enjoyed this dvd all the way through.

The Adventures of Paddington Bear (The Complete Time-Life Library)
Released in DVD by Ventura Distribution (01 October, 2002)
MPAA Rating: G (General Audience)
Dear Aunt Lucy, I've just compiled 42 of my favorite stories into a tidy little collection, called The Adventures of Paddington Bear. Do you remember all the post cards I've sent you from around the world? Well, now children (perhaps 3- to 7-year-olds) can learn from these many international adventures of mine. Imagine a little bear such as I nearly becoming a NASA astronaut, a Chinese acrobat, or a sumo wrestler! Whether at home in England or abroad, kind words and marmalade sandwiches often save the day. Each story in my 300-minute collection unfolds like the classic Paddington Bear tales told by author Michael Bond, and contains delightful animation with high attention to detail. One minor curiosity: the little booklet enclosed with the collection proves as chaotic as my trip through the London underground. Best to ignore it, pop in a show, and enjoy a lovely marmalade sandwich! Fondly, --PB (as told to Liane Thomas)
Average review score:

Great, but
This would be a 5 star review if only the box contained both DVD's.I hope it was only my copy that was incomplete, but be warned anyway.

Enjoyable cartoon version of a classic
This Paddington Bear collection offers stories from the new two-dimensional cartoon series made in Britain not long ago and brought to America with the voices dubbed into American accents. Parents who remember the old classic stop-motion Paddington Bear series with a puppet bear, that Disney licensed from England a long while back, may wish to pick up those tapes too: the first video volume of the old series is called "Please Look After This Bear" and features the wonderfully understated narration of the late Sir Michael Horden. The puppet bear in the original series was developed by Ivor Wood, who went on to develop Postman Pat, a huge hit in Britain, and "caviar to the generals" to some North American families with small children.

Other great kids shows are: Mouse and Mole, Fireman Sam, Old Bear Stories, Brum and the Baby Carriage, Old Bear Stories, William's Wish Wellingtons, Noddy, Kipper, The Secret of Roan Inish, Big Friendly Giant, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, the Jeremy Brett-acted Sherlock Holmes mysteries, Princess and the Goblin.

A collection of adventures of the most lovable bear from Eng
Paddington Brown is a very endearing bear for the young and old. He has a straightforward and simple approach to life and he only sees the good in every situation. He gets into messes but always manages to turn things around. This is a wholesome, nonviolent animation for kids.

Amazing Adventure
Released in DVD by Gotham Distribution (18 February, 2002)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Director: Alfred Zeisler
Average review score:

CARY GRANT FANS: DON'T MISS THIS ONE !!!!
If I was ever amazed by an inexpensive DVD, this was the one. Sure, time has taken its toll on the film print. Sure, the transfer to DVD could be better, in fact it could have been much better. But, IF you are able to ignore some natural degradation, a little grain, and a couple of minor skips(not enough to interfer with continuity) YOU ARE IN FOR A REAL TREAT !

With its "Depression Era" overtones, this movie exemplifies many forgotten attitudes, ambitions and values of the 1930's. It presents clear character lessons that are timeless in relevance. View it once, and then view it again with your grandparents/grandchildren. You may be surprised by their comments.

For some real comedy pay particular attention to the apartment fight scene. You might have to push the "pause" button until you stop laughing.

My guess is that this DVD will be highly enjoyed by all ages under 10, over 50, and all those between 11 and 49 who are able to look beyond the purely superficial.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BY Jim & Veda

Cary Grant is the man.
Not many people enjoy watching "old black and white" movies anymore. The claims I hear most are that there isn't enough action, there are no special effects, and the plots are boring. Many of those same complaints can be made about modern movies as well. The biggest difference is that you can't take your whole family to see those films because of all the swearing, violence, and sex whereas a family can enjoy watcing an old film together without any worry of having to blind the youngsters eyes and cover their ears.

AMAZING ADVENTURE is not a great movie; it's just the usual run of the mill love story. However, there is one exception that makes the movie a par above the rest: Cary Grant. I have yet to see a bad movie in which he acted. Not only that, but Grant had the rare ability to take even the most mudane movie moments and transform them into cinematic magic. Such is the case with AMAZING ADVENTURE. The plot of the movie revolves around a rich young man who has inherited a tremendous fortune. He finds himself becoming ill and seeks the help and advice of a doctor. The doctor tells him that he is physically fit, but is affected by the disease of money. He places a bet with the young man, challenging him to work for one year by his own means and not by using his inherited fortune. What follows is the "amazing adventure" as Grant moves from one job to the next, learning lessons of humility, and falling in love. Youngsters may find the movie boring, but adults will probably enjoy it and the lessons the film instills can't be heard enough in contemporary society.

The Beginning
One of his earliest movies. In this you will see what the world soon discovered almost 70 years ago. Cary Grant was to be one of the screens greatest stars.
