BET ComicView: All Stars, Vol. 1

"Now what is we gon' do...?"
All Cedric the Entertainer fans need this DVD! I have been watching him since he was the host of BET's Comic View after DL Hughley completed his season the the popular TV show, now in it's 10th year. The reason I think I like his comedy is because I can relate to many of his jokes. His skits include: that old music where he explains Al Green and his "documentary" song "Love and Happiness", the difference between white churches and black churches, "Old School", where "Flashlight" by the Parliament Funkdelic is playing, while he entertains the audience by doing a series of dances, old and new, plus many others. Other benefits of this DVD include: Quick Clips, the skits/jokes from other comedians. If you are a Cedric the Entertainer fanatic, you have to have this one to add to your growing DVD collection.

Nostalgic Videos for anyone who's really into Big Country
This video compilation is very special for me. I used to see a lot of these vidoes in my teens when Big Country were really big. What nostalgia! Most of the vidoes for their best hits are really simple but effective. The most creative videos are the ones for Just A Shadow (My all time favourite Big Country track), East Of Eden, Hold The Heart, Broken Heart (Thirteen Valleys), Heart Of The World, Alone and Ships. My only disappointment is that no videos from the "Why The Long Face" album were included. However, this is a MUST for any hardcore Big Country fan, and a worthwile investment for followers of good rock music without pretentions. May Big Country's music live long.

Bikini Airways

It's Definitely NOT Virgin Airlines!
This movie follows in the grand tradition of "The Bikini Carwash Company" in that they employ women in bikinis to save their struggling airline from going out of business. The action goes even further by having a bachelor party during the flight. Experiencing turbulence on this flight is a good thing! Everybody, except the pilot, is inducted into the mile high club. Just put your brain on autopilot and enjoy flying the friendly skies of Bikini Airways!

Gospel Music ... Born Again!
Well, here's how it all began...again.

I realize Bill and Gloria and most of their friends have been writing and singing great gospel songs long before I was even thought of. But when Bill Gaither gathered dozens of his friends together for a 1995 TV special that aired on TNN, it was a fresh new beginning that would eventually bring millions of people (me being one) to see that southern gospel music is somthing that everyone can enjoy and feel His power first hand!

This special is the one that spawned hundreds of great videos and DVD's that we've enjoyed over and over. See how it all began! Keep'em comin' Bill! See you all on tour!

Bill and Gloria Gaither and Their Homecoming Friends: Rocky Mountain Homecoming
Released in DVD by Emi Distribution (16 September, 2003)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Starring: Bill & Glori Gaither
Average review score:

Inspiring and awesome!
The Gaither Red Rock Homecoming DVD, set in the Red Rock Amphitheatre in Colorado will lift your spirits to new heights--as high as the breathtaking mountains of Colorado seen in it. I have watched many of the Gaither Homecoming videos, but this one is by far the best that I have seen. With spectacular scenery of the area around Morrison, CO and careful selection of songs and groups, it will touch your heart and senses. The song Gloria has written "Colorado Might Not Be Heaven (but It Must Be On The Way)" is a melody you can't get out of your mind. It is tied as my favorite with the powerful, yet simple, Mosie Lister song "Castles In The Sand" sung by the Booth Brothers. Music simply doesn't get much better than that. Do yourself a favor and add this wonderful DVD to your collection. You do not have to be a southern or bluegrass gospel fan to enjoy it and feel your burdens lifted for a little while.

Blue Crush (Surfing Documentary)
Released in DVD by Ventura Distribution (14 January, 2003)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Director: Aaron Fishman
Not to be confused with the 2002 feature film of the same title, Blue Crush is billed as the original all-girl surfer's movie, and it's guaranteed to please devotees of the sport. It's a mixed blessing, however, because it assumes familiarity with the sport and its superstars, dispensing with any educational or historical detail that would appeal to neophytes. After all, how can this film be dedicated to Rell Sunn (the pioneer of female competitive surfing, who died in of breast cancer in 1998 at age 47) and fail to explore her illustrious career? This haphazard approach extends to profiles of the young women who regard Sunn as their hero; we learn little of their backgrounds and how they rose to prominence on the waves. Blue Crush works best as a globetrotting, music-video tour of surfdom's prime locations (Samoa, Hawaii, the Gold Coast, South Africa) hosted by the sport's most prominent competitors, including several (Rochelle Ballard, Megan Abubo, Sanoe Lake, Keala Kennelly, Kate Skarratt) who appeared in Universal's popular feature. It's a lot of fun, especially if you "hang ten" on a regular basis. --Jeff Shannon

Spelling error...
Just wanted to say, its Keala Kennely... not Kennedy. Shame. Great movie however.

Cannibal Corpse - Monolith Of Death

Cannibal Corpse Rules!!
I would have to say that this video is pretty awesome! The quality of the sound and the picture on this video are not of the best quality because this video was recorded on a bunch of camcorders. The best show I think they did was the show at the beginning of the video in Poland. Besides the awesome Devoured by Vermin video that they do at the end. But I am a big cannibal corpse fan. Especially because I am a death metal guitarist/vocalist myself. Overall, If you have never seen cannibal corpse play live, and you're a big corpse fan like me, then you should definitely get this video.

The Cathedrals: The Best of the Cathedrals
Released in DVD by Emi Distribution (05 November, 2002)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Average review score:

A must-have for fans of southern gospel music!
For years, the Cathedral Quartet defined the genre of the male quartet in southern gospel music. This compilation of music spans several decades and various incarnations of the Cathedrals. With humor and poignant reflection, Bill Gaither and George Younce lend insight to several songs that made listening to the Cathedrals' music a joy. At the heart of the group was the relationship of George and late lead singer Glen Payne. The love these men had for each other coupled with their desire to glorify God through their music really comes through on this DVD. It would be a welcome addition to the collection of any gospel music fan.

Oh, yes. I have to admit it. It's a great piece of art. Marvellous. These are the best words to discribe this item.
