Risky Business
Released in DVD by Warner Studios (02 April, 2002)
MPAA Rating: R (Restricted)
Director: Paul Brickman
Starring: Tom Cruise and Rebecca De Mornay
Little did Tom Cruise know that he would become a box-office superstar after he cranked up some Bob Seeger and played air guitar in his underwear. But there's more to this 1983 hit than the arrival of a hot young star. Making a stylish debut, writer-director Paul Brickman crafted a subtle satire of crass materialism wrapped in an irresistible plot about a crafty high schooler named Joel (Cruise) who goes into risky business with the beguiling prostitute Lana (Rebecca De Mornay) while his parents are out of town. Joel turns his affluent Chicago-suburb home into a lucrative bordello and forms a steamy personal and professional partnership with Lana, but only as long as the two can avoid the vengeful pimp Guido (Joe Pantoliano) and keep their customers happy. A signature film of the 1980s, Risky Business still holds up thanks to Cruise's effortless charm and the movie's timeless appeal as an adolescent male fantasy. --Jeff Shannon

Risky? Not at all
Tom Crusie became a star when he danced in his underwear much in the same way Julia Roberts hit the big time when she sang Prince in the bathtub ayring Pretty Woman.

This will remain a cult classic, although had it not been for Tom Cruise's appeal to youg girls and women alike, I don't really know whether the film would have drawn much attention. But, perhaps I am biased, as I've always thought Tom was a bit thick in the waist/butt area to be a serious heart throb, but, hey, that's me... The premise is pretty outlandish and the entire plot is WILL JOEL GET IN TROUBLE WITH HIS PARENTS?

There are some other themes going on here--pressure to succeed, etc. but they are somewhat underplayed.

Joe Pantalino is as solid as ever here, but Tom's acting is somewhat weak. I've never been a fan of Rebecca DeMornay period--I'm sorry, I don't find her talented, but I suspect her sex appeal helped this movie along as well. If you miss this one, you'll survive it.

home alone
A great movie about a teenager home alone who calls a hooker and they knock some boots and then use his parent's pad for a whorehouse. Booger from Revenge of the Nerds is in this one too.

Are You Ready For Risky Business?
Oh my gosh, I can't even begin to describe how fun the movie Risky Business is. The movie is all about Joel (Tom Cruise) who is in his senior year of high school, and really wants to get into Princeton. While his parents are away and Joel is home by himself, he calls up a prostitute named Lana and kind of falls in love with her. Joel is intrested in business, so he and Lana start up a one night brothel @ his house. All through the movie you are left with the same question running through your mind - Does he get into Princeton? The only way you can find out is if you see the movie that started Tom Cruise's acting spree ~ Risky Business!
