Art Pepper: Notes From a Jazz Survivor
Released in DVD by Shanachie (16 November, 1999)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)

This DVD is a Great Document Of A Great Jazz Musician
I came to like Art Pepper later in my musical journey. I was always more of a trumpet fan, having only come to appreciate the saxophone after hearing John Coletrane or Cannonball Adderly play on Miles Davis records. Point is, I was never a huge fan of the sax. But in 2001 I stumbled upon a cd in a library, "Art Pepper Thursday Night At The Village Vanguard" and it sounded so real, so raw, and yet so polished that it actually PUTS you in the legendary club for the gig. You can almost smell the cigarette smoke, the booze, hear and feel the people around you, pressing in to take in the live jazz, done by a genius. I then purchased the rest of the cd series, "Friday Night", "Saturday Night" and "More For Les". These Art Pepper discs contain masterful playing, captured at a peak of sorts with a rhythm section that put the songs first, not the solos.

Needless to say, when this Art Pepper DVD came out, I had to have a look. It is a very sober interview with a man who has had many un-sober days, and he tackles the tough questions head-on. From telling how it felt to do heroin for the first time, for the thirtieth time, to his experience with de-tox and withdrawal agony in a cell in prison, to finally meeting his daughter and writing a song for her even though his gestures were never re-ciprocated, this is a painful, intimate look at the man, the music, the mess and the mystique of jazz. It really puts you there with him for an hour or so, both playing and telling you about it. If you like the "feel" of jazz, of blues, this delivers a good short dose of it. Get this, dim the lights, and enjoy! --mf

A Must See For All Jazz Fans
This is a wonderful memory of a battered genius that was able to come back one more time and make an unequaled contribution to the jazz world.

A Must See For All Jazz Fans
After seeing this poignant and moving video about the torture and genius of a true jazz great, I had to make a comment.Having followed his music since the days of Stan Kenton, it's wonderful to be able to retain a little piec of his music on video. This should be in every jazz fan's library.

Great PPV
Survivor series was awesome. Every match was superb except the women's match. I will review an rate every match out of 10.

6man table match: Bubba Ray Dudley, Spike Dudley, and Jeff Hardy vs. 3 minute warning. This was one of the best openers to a ppv I have ever seen in my life. I know a good table match when I see one. 7/10

WWE Cruiserweight Championship: Jamie Noble vs. Kidman This was a great cruiserweight title match. Lots of high flying moves 6/10

Women's Championship: I absolutley HATED this match. It was so boring from start to finsh. I'm like wake me up when it's over. BAD match 2/10

WWE Tag Team Championship Triple Threat: Edge and Rey Mysterio vs. Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit vs. Los Guerrero's This was a great match. You knew it would be good because of all when all 6 of those competitors get in the ring. Great Match. 9/10

WWE CHampionship: Brock Lesnar vs. Big Show This was a decent match except the fact that it is a little short but still good. 8/10

Elimination Chamber Match for The WOrld Heavyweight Championship: Triple H vs. Kane vs. Booker T. vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Shawn Michaels. Two words. SHOW STEALER!!!. This was insane and FAntastic. Triple H gets seriously hurt in this match. 100000000/10

So if your thinking is survivor series worth buying. Yes it is. Go buy it just ignore the women's match. And you'll see how triple h was hurt.

The best ppv ever..!!!!!!!!!!
Six-Man Elimination Table Match:
Jeff Hardy,Bubba Ray Dudley,Spike Dudley vs 3 Minutes Warning,Rico.
It was awesome match..great action..good moves...incredible splash by Jeff.8/10

Te best fight I ever seen.Athleticall moves...incredible force by Kane and HHH...Spiderman by RVD...good ending with a Switch Chin Music by HBK.10/10

Best PPV ever!
Tihs PPV was overall the best ever. It didn't have the most hype but it was the most watchable.

Rico, 3-Minute Warning vs Dudleyz, Jeff Hardy: Table Match
I thought this was a great table match and an even better opening match. It's good to start the night with brutal table moves. Pumped up the crowd with Dvons return.

Women's Championship: Tish Stratus vs Victoria
For a women's match it was good but adding weapons made it unbelieveable. Both put up a good match.

Cruiserweight Championship: Jamie Knoble vs Billy Kidman
This was a decent match but looked better because of the vicious DDT off the top rope. Kind of farfetch'd at times with all the kickouts.

WWE Championship: Big Show vs Brock Lesnar
Although shorter than it should've been, it was made great by the power of Lesnar picking up Big Show. Good match with surprise end.

Elimination Tag Team Championship: Los Guererros vs Beniot/Angle vs Mysterio/Edge
This match got dull at moments but was redeemed by Mysterio. Very watchable.

Elimination Chamber fo World Championship
First elimination chamber was not disappointing. Very brutaland eye-opening. RVD was the most entertaining showing he's Spider-Man and his splash off a chamber. Seemed to drone on at times but stayed exciting.

Excellent for beginners
This video isn't very long but it is good for beginners. 17 ways to start a fire without matches, very interesting. Many survival techniques are covered such as shelter, signalling, staying warm etc. This is a good complement to a good survival book.

Best survival video I have seen.
I am an assistant scoutmaster for a high-adventure scout troop in Texas. This is the best single-tape survival video I have seen. We have watched it several times in our scout meetings, and each time we come away with something new that we learned. Unless you are looking for a multi-tape detailed surval video series, this is the tape to have. Also it fits the scout survival merit badge curriculem exceedingly well.

Apology
I apologise to the viewer is was offended by my false pay-per view cards but I assure him that this was just my opinion on what I would have liked the card to have been that is all, but the three main events should be:

1.Bill Goldberg vs. Triple H
2.Undertaker vs. Mr. McMahon
3.Team Lesnar vs. Team Angle

I seriously doubt that Kane vs. Shane O'Mac will be main event it will probably be the 4th match. I do agree with you that Survivor Series will be probably the best pay-per view of the year behind WrestleMania XIX.

Best WWF Pay-Per-View of 2001!
This pay-per-view had it all. Excitement, surprises, great matches, the whole kit and kaboodle. Even the undercard matches that didn't have that much build-up around them (like Christian/Al Snow and the Women's Title match) were great.

This is a historic pay-per-view in every sense of the world. Four sets of championships (from WWF and WCW) are unified... and five of WCW's best face five of WWF's best in a Survivor Series match that brings new meaning to the word SURVIVAL! If you love wrestling or know someone who does, order this DVD ASAP.

Suvivor Series 2001
This pay per view was one of my favorites! Here are the matches:

1. European Championship:(c)Christian vs. Al Snow

2. Tajiri vs. Alliance Commissioner William Regal

3. IC & US Championship:(IC Champion)Test vs. (US Champion) Edge

4. Steele Cage match for the WCW & WWE Tag Team Championship: (WWE Tag Team Champions)Hardy Boyz vs. (WCW Tag Team Champions)Dudley Boyz

5. 22 Men Immunity Battle Royal:Featuring 22 WCW & WWE superstars

6. 6-pac challenge for the Women's Championship:Trish Stratus vs. Lita vs. Jacquline vs. Ivory vs. Mighty Molly vs. Jazz

Winner Take All elimination match:(Team WWE)The Rock, Chris Jericho, Undertaker, Kane, and Big Show vs. The Alliance: Stone Cold, Kurt Angle, Rob Van Dam, Booker T, and Shane Mcmahon

This was a great, long pay per view! Here are the ratings:

European Champion Christian def. Al Snow A good opening match. It was a little short but it was better than I thought. Not too much chemestry between the two but they put on a good fight ***
1/2

William Regal def. Tajiri

A very short match! It was ok but way to short. It still had a lot of great action by Tajiri but Regal slowed him down. *** 1/2

Title Unification match:Edge def. Test

Great match! A whole lot of action by both men! The end of the match was a little poor with a roll up but it was a great match! ****

Steele Cage Tag Team Title unification match:Dudley Boyz def. Hardy Boyz

Another great match! This ending was also a little poor after D'von rolled off the table and Jeff split right through the table. Still, it was awesome! **** 1/2

Test won the 22 man Immunity Battle Royal

This match was also good with a part bat part good ending. Too bad Tazz did not beat the crap out of Paul Haymen! This was a good typical battle royal that you would probabaly enjoy ****

6-pac challenge for the Women's Championship: Trish Stratus def. Jazz, Ivory, Jacquline, Lita, Mighty Molly

This was a good and short Women's Title match. The ending was good too. It was funny when Jazz tumbled and bounced through the ropes. ***

Winner Take all eliminatiom match: Team WWE def. Team Alliance

This was by far the best match on the card!!!! Angle turned on the Alliance! This was in my mind, one of the best matches of the year! *****

This is a great pay per view you'll want to see!!!

Winner Take All
Great PPV my first PPV i have seen in person
1. Al Snow vs. Christian European Title. Match was good but not hyped well and so its not noticed **
2. William Regal vs. Tajiri hyped alright but not done well. something just wasnt there to make you intrested *
3.WWF Intercontinential and WCW United States Title Unification Match Test vs. Edge. well done match great non stop action****
4.WWF Tag Team Title and WCW Tag Team Title Unification Cage Match WCW Champs Dudleyz vs. WWF Champs Hardyz good match but is boring in some spots jeffs bump off of the cage made the match***
5. 6 Pack Challenge for WWF Womens Title Lita vs. Trish Vs. Jacqueline vs. Jazz vs. Ivory vs. Mighty Molly it ... no stars
6. Winner Take All Team WWF(The Rock,Undertaker,Kane,Big Show, Chris Jericho) vs. Team Alliance(Stone Cold, Kurt Angle, RVD, Booker T, Shane McMahon) This match rocked *****

Destiny's Child - Survivor / Independent Women Part I (Live at the Brits 2001) (DVD Single)
Released in DVD by Sony/Columbia (15 May, 2001)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Average review score:

Pretty Good
This is a pretty good DVD. I love the two things they show you witch are the Survivor video and the Independent Woman Part two from the Brits awards. Only down thing is that is all this DVD has. My suggestion is if your a person who will listen to these videos over and over again. Say about 3 times a day then this is a good DVD for you and by watching it so much you will make it worth the money, but if your a person who will watch it every once in awhile say on average 5 times a month then this wouldn't be worth it. So its up to you for deciding how much you would listen to this and decide if you want it. I hope this helped

Slightly disappointing
I'm a UK fan and just recently got this DVD. I'm a huge DC fan and it's fantastic to have 'Survivor' in its full DVD quality. However, the version of Independent Women is at the Brits 2001 live. That was included as the bonus feature on the UK version of 'The Platinums On The Wall'.

All that said all DC fans will still want this.

Not a lot for your money...
The music and video aren't the problem here (i.e., if you got this far to read reviews you probably are a fan of the trio, or are contemplating buying this DVD for one). Rather I was a bit disappointed that this DVD-single lacked 5.1 audio, and that the price is a little steep for what is basically the SURVIVOR videoclip, a live version of INDEPENDENT WOMEN...and that's it. It's unfortunate that they didn't include perhaps a "Making Of SURVIVOR" videoclip to give the buyer a bit more value for their money.

WWE Survivor Series 2000
Released in DVD by Sony Wonder (04 December, 2001)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Starring: Stone Cold Steve Austin
As far as pay-per-views go, the 2000 Survivor Series is a bit lackluster. When it originally aired, the WWF was focusing on one plot line that so dominated the company that other story lines simply didn't matter. Survivor Series 2000 revolves around fallout and revenge revolving around the 1999 plot to end Stone Cold Steve Austin's career. In 1999, Austin was run over by a car, and for the better part of a year, the WWF became a mystery show, dedicated to finding out who was behind the steering wheel. Leading up to Survivor Series, it came out that the Rock's cousin, Rikishi, was driving the car, but the man who masterminded the plot was Triple H. So here we have the epic battles between the Rock and Rikishi, and Stone Cold and Triple H. Both matches are brutal, entertaining, and filled with shocking moments (how about Stone Cold dropping Triple H's car 30 feet from a fork lift?). The DVD gives fans all of the background leading up to these matches. Unfortunately, because the WWF focused so much attention on this story, the other half-dozen matches seem boring by comparison. As result, you get 45 minutes of entertainment and drama, surrounded by two hours of fluff. --Dave McCoy
Average review score:

merely average
Survivor Series is one of the Big 5 WWF Pay Per View Events (Wrestlemania, Summerslam, King of the Ring, Royal Rumble, Survivor Series). Any PPV is supposed to be special and of a higher quality than the average RAW or Smackdown program, but the Big 5 are of a higher profile than the rest. The first Survivor Series was held in 1987 and it set the tradition of what Survivor Series is. A traditional Survivor Series match is a 4 on 4 or 5 on 5 elimination tag team match where there is no winner until every man from one team is eliminated. Depending on who gets eliminated, this can set up a 5 on 1 match, or any other combination of wrestlers. When Survivor Series debuted, that type of elimination match was the norm for the PPV. As the years have gone by, Survivor Series has featured fewer and fewer traditional elimination matches.

With all of the anticipation that comes before one of the bigger PPV events, the 2000 Survivor Series was somewhat under-whelming. There were a couple of traditional Survivor Series matches. One of them, the match between the Radicalz (Chris Benoit, Perry Saturn, Dean Malenko, Eddie Guererro) vs Billy Gunn, Road Dogg, K-Kwik, and Chyna was one of the better matches of the night. Most of the matches were not very exciting (Bob Holly vs William Regal for the European Championship as an example) and served only to advance the storylines. Advancing the storylines is a good thing, but it is of greater importance to put on good matches. Otherwise, the audience/viewer will not care or pay money to watch the events.

The championship match between Kurt Angle and The Undertaker was decent, much on the strength of Kurt Angle to elevate any superstar he is in the ring with. However, the match ended in another swerve, which is becoming a Survivor Series tradition. The swerve tradition seems to date back to 1997 with the Bret Hart/ Shawn Michaels match in Montreal. An occasional swerve isn't a bad thing as it can heighten interest in the story being told. The problem is that the WWF has used it so much that we come to expect a swerve and the importance of the match, even the championship match, is lessened.

The Main Event was Stone Cold Steve Austin vs Triple H, and this was more of a brawl than a wrestling match. As such, it wasn't a bad match until the end. The ending to this one was more absurd than dramatic. We are expected to believe that one wrestler is in life threatening danger, but we know that he will be back...either the next week or in a month or two. Knowing that so much is staged makes some events absurd.

Overall, this was only an average Pay Per View. Nothing special.

The Rules Have Changed!!
This event has some high spots and some low spots. I personally like the opening promo with triple h the best myself. hHh's 40 ft drop inside of a car (courtesy of Stone Cold) was amazing. Stone Cold finally got his revenge from one year earlier. I think that storyline could'hve been better if the WWF would have just come out and said it was Triple h and instead of using Rikishi as the culprit. I mean Rikishi wasn't even ready to be a top performer in the WWF. Anyways were talkin about the DVD here. The Rock vs. Rikishi (which is mid card and also proves that Rikishi can't be a main eventer) is cool. So is the WWF Title Match between Undertaker and Kurt Angle. That match has a great Survivor Series traditional ending. Someof the Xtras on the disk are-
---what happened leading up to certain matches
---backstage interviews
---highlights from Heat
---Wrap Up show (which can also be found on VHS)
A pretty good DVD but to tell you the truth, I'd tell you to just rent it first before you buy it.

The Rules Have Changed
Yes, needles to say, this Survivor Series went above and beyond the average norm, and this DVD "rocks!"

The main event pitted "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, one of the largest personas ever to enter the "squared circle" against Triple H, arguably the best in the business at the moment. These two athletes thrive off of each other, and the main event on this card shows that. The ending of the match is unbelievable, and is truly worth the entire price of this amazing DVD.

In other highlights, the Rock vs. Rikishi match was excellent, as Mr. Stinky Face himself had his coming out party in a "large" way. Rikishi showed that he could raise the level of his performance.

Kurt Angle vs. the Undertaker was another outstanding match. These two superstars layed it all on the line in a fierce battle, and the ending was somewhat surprising.

Haven't heard enough to buy this yet? Check out Kane vs. Chris Jericho. Two wrestlers that have completely different styles match up in an excellent bout.

Overall, this is an excellent DVD. The post-card wrap-up is a really nice addition. Besides that, this card has the first Stone Cold vs. HHH match, which is sure to be a classic rivalry in the future. Seeing as how Survivor Series is one of the original four Pay-Per-Views, owning this DVD is a must for all wrestling fans.

Memoirs of a Survivor
Released in DVD by Anchor Bay Entertainment (12 June, 2001)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Director: David Gladwell
Average review score:

Decent Enough Lessing Adaptation
Not many Lessing novels make it to the screen, and David Gladwell adpated this one back in 1981. While no one could be better cast than Julie Christie, the film suffers from Gladwell's lacklustre but competent direction and realization. It's one of those novels that is very personal, and plays better in the imagination than on the screen, especially when it comes to depicting the feral children. The electronic score seems misplaced until the last strains, and film remains as oblique as the book, which is good. Watch it for Christie - luminous as always - but read the novel beforehand.

ambivalent and holding
doris lessing is my favorite author, i turn to her shikasta series when things get really tough and i need to have a long term view. it is my understanding that "memoirs" was written in response to her editors request for an autobiography. i have read the book a number of times and still have to think about the ending. this is why a rating of three stars, i suppose for some people that would be reason for a five star (at least it makes her think)

this film is perfect for the time we live in as her time could become our time, after september 11, ase as we say. in this film there is no sense of safety, there is no sense of continuity, there is no sense. it is the "end of time" for what may be civil society in a small area of england.

i intend to have "viewing parties" for my friends. bleak views can be mitigated in unexpected ways...and, there is re assurance in numbers.

thanks

Slow, Haunting Dream Film
Though I was more impressed with this movie when it had it's theatrical debut in the early 1980s, I still recommend this mysterious mood piece. The DVD transfer is great and some care went into the menu and chapter selections. The story concerns a quiet middle aged woman (Julie Christie) living alone during some catastrophic breakdown of modern society. Young illiterate kids live like rats in the subways, garbage covers the streets and nomadic people scavenge in aimless traveling groups. The woman is given a young teenage girl (Leonie Mellinger) to take care of and the girl becomes sexually involved with a young man who takes on the task of caring for homeless children (while he simultaneously sleeps with them). Alongside this melancholic tale, there's another dimension revealed when the woman descovers a victorian family living inside a strange membranous wall of her apartment. There are curious psychological parallels between the world in the wall and the goings-on in the woman's other dystopian world. The final scenes are truly wierd and puzzling so if you like your movies straightforward with tidy narratives, this one isn't for you. For those who enjoy the bizarre and challenging, take a look. My only real criticism is the truly awful synth soundtrack (by Mike Thorne-any relation to Ken?) which constantly works against the imagery.

Survivor - Season One: The Greatest and Most Outrageous Moments
Released in DVD by Paramount Home Video (09 January, 2001)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Starring: Jeff Probst
America has spoken. Survivor was one of the rare lightning-in-a-bottle television events that became an instant pop culture phenomenon, like Roots, the first season of Twin Peaks, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, and Suddenly Susan (just kidding). Sixteen contestants were left to fend for themselves on the most famous tropical isle since Gilligan's. What begins as a happy and healthy competition inexorably turns, in contestant Jenna's words, "malicious and evil." And the whole world was watching.

For devotees of the show who yearn to go back to the island, this two-and-a-half-hour video souvenir replays the most memorable moments of season 1, including all the tribal councils that sealed the castaways' fates. What makes this video collectible are the never-before-broadcast audition tapes (Susan's is a jaw-dropping hoot), as well as each castaway's parting words after being voted off the island (Stacey is particularly bitter). There is gratuitous rodent skinning, uncensored profanity (from Susan and B.B.), and nudity (unfortunately, all Richard). Thankfully, we are spared Sonja's ukulele playing.

The one mystery that remains is why the castaways didn't pull a Lord of the Flies on hokey host Jeff Probst. Even those who originally avoided the show like a rat dinner will have to admit: from Jenna's heartbreak at learning that her video greeting from home did not arrive to Susan's classic what-goes-around-comes-around "snakes and rats" speech, Survivor is compelling television. --Donald Liebenson

Average review score:

Bummer highlight DVD. But, YES the gay man won!
Bummer! This is only a 2-hour-15 minutes DVD of highlights from the first Survivor. The nudity is nothing really. A rear-end shot of one survivor and Richard sitting down "tucked under" and walking naked. But no private parts seen here. Having not seen all of the episodes of Survivor. I was hoping for a complete, unedited, uncensored version, with all episodes Collector's DVD set. I guess it is not possible. One special feature is the "Survivor: Inside the Phenomenon", a 20-minute documentary, which I found to be quite interesting, especially how fair the game is, the exhausting hard work Producer, Mark Burnett and the Art Department can do, and how they managed to surprise the Challenge Survivor Winner, Sean, with a surprise visit from his father on the yacht at such short notice. How they got his father there at such short notice is remarkable.

Worth looking at
I am a true Survivor fan. From the moment I watched the very first episode I was hooked. I looked forward each week to see what challenges they had, and who would be the next voted off. I really missed the show after it was all over.

When I seen this dvd advertised I was very excited. I bought it thinking that it would have the 13 episodes that were shown on tv, plus extra never before seen footage. I was a little disappointed to find it was only hightlights from the episodes. There was a lot that they left out, like the challenges which I truly loved. So you dont get the exact feel of it all.

I still enjoyed the dvd, and I enjoyed the extras, (well, most of them, excluding naked Rich). It brought back some good memories of watching it for the very first time.

So if you watched it before, and are a fan, I recommend picking this dvd up, but if you didnt watch it and were planning on getting this dvd to see what the fuss was all about, I recommend holding off.

Maybe they will release all 13 episodes that was originally shown on tv!

(We can all hope!)

Bad rap for rather solid DVD
Before buying this I almost got turned off by many nags about the DVD with people saying it was 'dissapointing' but putting it in the player I am glad I got it. The 2 hour plus review of season one is just as entertaining and professional as the series was when it aired although it focuses mainly on the personality aspect of the contestents rather than the individual challenges, which is OK for me as after knowing the winner it doesnt bother me too much not seeing who wins immunity each week.

There is a great section on each survivor profiling their history on and off the island plus theres a great documentary about behind the scenes. What really got me was when we see tribal council, brooding and sinister then the camera pulls up and theres dozens of soundstage lights and cameras which completely ruins the look, but we dont see that when votes are cast etc. and it works great. I was also surprised at how large the crew was! There were heaps of em! Its also good to hear stories from the great host Jeff Probst and Mark Burnett. The picture aint no THX quality though looking somwhat smudgy at times but all in all its a great DVD. If youve seen the show and like it and want to revisit the island get this while you still can! But if you missed the show and want to see what the hype is about I dont this will help you too much. Im happy to have this little gem in my ever growing collection. Now Ive got to get Season Two the Greatest and Most Outragous Moments...

Survivor - Season Two - The Australian Outback: The Greatest & Most Outrageous Moments
Released in DVD by Paramount Home Video (25 September, 2001)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Starring: Jeff Probst
Average review score:

Not Bad But Could've Been Better
I am a die-hard Survivor fanatic. And I enjoyed the second season of the show, in particular. How does its DVD stack up against the first release? Ehh... It is essentially the same feature that the first release had: a two hour retrospective on the season. But that's where the similarities end.

First off, the good. For every tribal council you get to view the comments of everyone who voted specifically for the person who was voted off. The Special Features show us a lot of the footage from The Early Show. Some of the included audition videos are quite amusing. And there are a few moments of footage in the feature that we never saw on tv.

Now, the bad. Too many of the challenges are left off. Many of the show's best (and most notorious) moments are nowhere to be found, including the pig hunt. Unlike the season one disk, there are no animated menus (a major error, for DVD lovers). And the data on voting history is also missing; while the Early Show footage is nice, there is but a fraction of what was found on the special features last time (and that wasn't a lot, to begin with). Heck, the post-Survivor special that CBS showed could've been included as an easy bonus, but it's not even here. I could've also used more footage of Elisabeth and Rodger, but that's just me.

In essence, this is a bare bones release. I love Survivor, but I'm disappointed with this DVD. It could've been so much better. It's a good refresher, if you just gotta see those sixteen people again. But hard-core Survivor fans will probably be disappointed in the lack of attention and care that was given to this project. THREE STARS.

Australian Outback DVD -- Great Cast, Not-So-Great DVD
It's certainly my favorite Survivor season, and I've been watching since the beginning!

This DVD I found in many ways to be better than the Season One DVD, but that's simply because of the cast and the way the DVD is organized. The extras on this one are pretty nice as well -- you even can go to the expanded Survivor 2 website directly via the DVD just by popping it in the computer. Of course, this can get annoying when you are just trying to WATCH the DVD on the computer and it keeps trying to go to the website. But I can overlook that.

Survivor Season 2 is only two hours long. How did they condense a full season of 14 hours into only two? Alot of the goodies were skipped, unfortunately, and will be skipped until CBS decides to put out a complete season DVD (hint hint). You'll be waiting for the next immunity challenge, and it will skip directly to the Tribal Council. Yuck!

I liked that this DVD seemed to touch on all the most dramatic moments of the season (all my favorite parts were there) so I can live with choppy editing. The nasty bug eating challenge was still there. The Jerri vs Colby nastiness was still there. So not ALL of the goodies were taken out.

Also included were clips of the audition tapes of these survivors, which I loved seeing. Other than that, there's not a ton of 'outrageous' footage that you've never seen before (or CBS would have shown it).

It's not a perfect DVD, but if you're a Survivor Fan, it's a must-own anyways.

"Survivor: The Australian Outback" DVD Much Better!
If you bought "Survivor: The Greatest and Most Outragous Moments: Season One" DVD/Video and were very dissapointed (as was I) Have no fear! "Season Two" has many improvements! More of the episodes and challenges we love and not so much "interview" garbage. Also, all the Tribal Councils are on this one as well. I have seen the DVD because I work for a video/dvd distribution company and got a sneak peak of it, and it's great! Enjoy!
